This was fun to do~ enjoy!

I always find it kind of weird that matriarchal cultures in fiction are always “women fight and hunt, men stay home and care for the babies” because world-building-wise, it makes no sense

think about it. like, assuming that gender even works the same in this fantasy culture as it does in ours, with gender conflated with sex (because let’s be real, all of these stories assume that), men wouldn’t be the ones to make the babies, so why would they be the ones to care for the babies? why is fighting and hunting necessary for leadership?

writing a matriarchy this way is just lazy, because you’re just taking the patriarchy and just swapping the people in it, rather than actually swapping the culture. especially when there are so many other cool things you could explore. like, what if it’s not a swap of roles but of what society deems important?

maybe a matriarchy would have hunting and fighting be part of the man’s job, but undervalued. like taking the trash out or cleaning toilets: necessary, but gross, and not noble or interesting. maybe farming is now the most important thing, and is given a lot of spiritual and cultural weight.

how would law work? what crimes would exist, and what things would be considered too trivial to make illegal? who gets what property? why?

how would religion work? how would you mark time or the passage into adulthood? what would marriage look like? if bloodlines are through the mother, bastardy wouldn’t even be a concept - how does that work?

what qualities would be most important in a person? how would you define strength or leadership? what knowledge would be the most coveted and protected? what acts or roles are considered useless or degrading?

like, you can’t just take our current society and say you’re turning it on its head when you’re just regurgitating it wholesale. you have to really think about why things are the way they are and change that. 

A Beauty and the Beast AU where Belle realizing she loves Beast isn’t at some dramatic climactic event but during some randome everyday moment. Like, she’s filing her nails and just kinda glances up at him and he’s like doing something just as dull and it just kinda dawns on her that she loves him but she doesn’t voice it cause she isn’t exactly ready to confront thoes emotions and what they mean so she goes back to filing her nails but then is starts raining glitter and Beast is defying gravity in a glowing ball of light and the castle is changing back and everyone becomes human again. Then everyone is left in silent moment of shock and confusion and Belle, being completely unaware of what it takes to break the curse, is just staring around in horror while everyone freshly humanized comes running into whatever room she and Beast were in (probably the library) expecting to see something other than human Beast in a heap on the ground and Belle across the room in a chair frozen in shock and confusion and everyone just kinda looks at each other for a couple of seconds not realy sure what to say cause nobody is entirely sure what happened other than the curse was broken. Then Beast finaly gets up and looks around and realizes what this means and looks at Belle and is just like “you love me?” And Belle is just like “wat?”

Peter, to a random spider: Dude, pay the rent or leave, because, you’re not even washing the dishes anymore, and I just think that’s such a dick move.

• Marinette was so done

• Seriously all she had wanted was a nice class trip to Gotham, a city known for its amazing BatFam inspired street fashion! And not to mention the amazing looks inspired by the rouge gallery!

• But nooooooo some lame "super villain" just had to take her and the entire class hostage because apparently a mysterious 'he' had adopted another kid?

• Yeah nobody knew what the insane person was talking about and now he's referring to himself in the third person

• Marinette never thought she would be grateful for Hawkmoth and the Akumas

• Good thing she made everyone(even Lila) memorize emergency protocols

• Since he seemed to be focused on Marinette, she lashed out with a right hook causing him to stumble back and trip on Chloe's leg.

• Nino then pulled out rope from his mom bag-sorry his backpack

Adrien as he clapped his hands together: Pizza? I'm thinking pizza!

Chloe in the most exasperated tone: Adri, we were just taken hostage.

Adrien as he pulls out his phone: So yes?

• The class did end up getting pizza while they waited for the police to show up

Batman when he finally shows up: I'm sorry they WhAt!!!

Commissioner Gordon while drinking his 20th coffee of the day: They ordered pizza and had a party while waiting for the police to show up to take the thug who held them hostage away.

Nightwing while eating his slice of pizza: I now have 15 amazing younger siblings. Tell the others they have been replaced.

• Yeah the class adopted Nightwing as their older brother. He was THRILLED. And they haven't even talked about acrobatics and heroing yet

• All in all the class took down a thug, Gordon needs a vacation, Nightwing had a pizza party with his new siblings, and Batman is soo confused.

Bruce with the most deadpanned expression: You've been replaced. Nightwing has been adopted by a visiting French class. He now has 15 younger siblings who apparently took out the thug who took them hostage, and then proceeded to order pizza.

Jason, Tim, Damian, Stephanie, and Barbra: WHAT!

Bruce while pulling out his phone: They were having a giant pizza party when the cops arrived. I'm pretty sure there still there partying.

Bruce turning to face Cass who has been silent this entire time: Your invited to join in Cass. The class wants to meet their new older sister.

I want to see Diana’s reaction when she realizes the Justice League tried to take Ladybug’s child away from her. Maybe she pledges hers and the Amazon’s alliance to Marinette should they try again?

Our Lady’s Protector

First

Diana of Themysicra was not a woman to be trifled with. She was a force of nature, a demigoddess who fought for her people and justice only. When she found out about the current Ladybug miraculous holder and what the Justice League tried to do to her, she was furious. There was nothing in this world that could have stopped her as she marched towards the Justice League’s next meeting, righteous fury in her eyes and a purpose behind her every step.

Bursting into the conference room, the Amazon glared at the two men at the head of the table. Every head turned in her direction to watch the demigoddess as she marched right up to the head of the U-shaped table and slap the Man of Steel.

The sound of flesh violently meting flesh echoed in the room, Clark’s head snapping to the side in his surprise, “Diana what are you-”

Diana cut her off, a dangerous quality to her voice as she pushed the man back into his chair, “How dare you?”

“Diana-” Batman tried interrupt but a single venomous glance in his direction had him sinking back into his sea. 

“What in the world could possibly possess you to attack her?” Diana began, her voice low but echoing in the stillness of the conference room. “How dare you try to claim her child as your own? She raised him, she loved him and you... you didn’t even know of her existence. What in your petty little mind thought you could possibly claim him over her?”

Clark stared up at the furious woman as lightening arced over her arms, the wind picking up as she spoke, “You are fortunate that m’Lady didn’t declare you an enemy, otherwise I would have every right to separate your head from your body.”

“What do you mean Diana,” Batman spoke into the silence, curiosity building up under his skin.

“Ms.Dupain-Cheng, the current holder of the Ladybug Miraculous, is allied and under the protection of Themysicra. She is our Lady, my mother’s successor, and it is my duty to protect her and her kin. If you had harmed a single hair on either of their heads, I would have no choice but to eliminate the threat.” glancing over her shoulder, the demigoddess growled, “Is that clear?”

A curious of “Yes ma’am”s echoed into the air as Diana turned on her heel, electricity sparking under her heels. “Do not attempt to harm Ms.Dupain-Cheng or her son ever again, or war shall be declared.”

A single chair scrapped against the stone floor of the Watchtower and Aqauman’s voice boomed into the silence as he joined Diana in the doorway, “Atlantis shall stand with the Amazon’s and our Lady. Hope that moment never comes.”

Together the two descendets of god’s left the room, spins straight and fury in their postures.

Local Bookstores Have A New Weapon In The Fight With Amazon

In the book industry, Amazon is Goliath, the giant who overshadows everyone else. But there’s a new David on the scene, Bookshop.org.

It doesn’t expect to topple the giant, but it has launched a weapon that could make Amazon’s shadow a little smaller, and help local bookstores fight back.

Bookshop.org, a website that went live at the end of January and is still in beta mode, is designed to be an alternative to Amazon, and to generate income for independent bookstores. And, perhaps more importantly, it seeks to give book reviewers, bloggers and publications who rely on affiliate income from “Buy now” links to Amazon a different option.

Profit from books sold through Bookshop will be split three ways, with 10% of the sale price going into a pool that will be divided among participating bookstores, 10% going to the publication that triggered the sale by linking to Bookshop.org, and 10% going to Bookshop.org to support its operations.

#SPNFamily Fundraisers

Since the Supernatural finale aired, fans have been creating campaigns to raise money in honor of their favorite characters. So far, so much good has come out of it! We have raised over $60K for multiple organizations. I thought I would share all of the current ones I know of.

The Castiel Project, created by prfoundbond, supports The Trevor Project. They focus in suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ youth. The original goal was $1500. So far, it has raised over $47,700.

Dean Winchester Is Love, created by wearedeancas, supports NAMI. They focus on building better lives for those who are affected by mental illness. The original goal was $1500. So far, it has raised over $10,700!

The Sam Winchester Project, my fundraiser (witchchester), supports Together We Rise. They assist foster youth. This campaign helps displaced college students w/grocery, utility, & housing resources. The original goal was $250. So far, it has raised over $2200!

The Jack Kline Project, created by dearkmnj + CROWLEYBEANS, supports Random Acts. They focus on making the world a better place with one random act of kindness at a time. The current goal is $1500. So far, it has raised over $1000!

The Miracle Project, created by adoreyouackles, supports ASPCA. They focus on preventing animal cruelty throughout the United States. The current goal is $1000. So far, it has raised over $90!

Gabriel’s Gift, created by zepptapes, supports Action Against Hunger. They focus on giving everyone access to clean water, food, training, and healthcare. The current goal is $2000. So far, it has raised over $50!

The Charlie Bradbury Project, created by ClearlyNoLabel, supports Girls Who Code. They focus on supporting + increasing the number of women in computer science. The current goal is $1500. It just opened a few hours ago!

In honor of Eileen, many are also donating to the National Association of the Deaf. They focus on promoting the rights of deaf people in the United States.

This really is so amazing! I’m so happy that our family took a not-so-great finale and turned it into something positive. Cheers!
