Kite making is a tradition for All Saints Day in Santiago, Guatemala. Here the Kaqchikel class Oxlajuj Aj is learning how to make our own 8 D
“Everything has been transformed by the narcotráfico,” says O’Laughlin, who has often traveled to Huehuetenango, where most of Florida’s Maya residents are from. “The entire fabric of life has been destroyed.” YUUUPPPP ...Mendez, herself a Guatemalan-born Maya, concedes that integrating Maya newcomers can be a challenge as well. As indigenous people, for example, they’re not always accepted as part of mainstream Latino culture. And that points to another big obstacle.... I wish that integrating Mayan people into mainstream Latino culture wasn't a goal. Indigenous Guatemala is it's own category and culture.
This is amazing!! WATCH AN EPISODE! Arthur in Kaqchikel anybody? hehe..
Seriously, this is a great place to learn Lakota. Each episode is only ~13mins long!
Each episode includes:
“Episode Script” | You can practice reading along with the script while you’re watching - and practice reading out loud yourself!
“Episode Vocabulary” | These are great learning tool- take a look at them before watching an episode and again afterwards, it’s amazing how much you’ll pick up.
“Comprehension Questions” | Some of these are actually pretty tough if you are just starting out, but being able to answer them can be a great goal to work towards!

Happy coming out day; although us natives like to call it "becoming" rather than "coming out" cuz we are always moving toward who we are in in multiple ways, from infant to elder, from partnered to nonpartnered (or multiple partnered), childless to parenting as a bio parent or auntie/uncle, to name a few transitions--and from one gender to the next. we all have every right to be anyone we want to be, do it in a goot way people.
