Divination Witch:

- I feel like they would like jazz

- Though that might just be because of that “Friends on the Other Side” song

- Probably a (not so secret) Harry Potter fan

- Very good at taking criticism (because they keep getting called out by playing cards)

- Believes in fate

- Appreciates the artwork on very pretty cards

- “Is this my intuition, or am I just anxious?”

- Probably likes Messy Buns

- Aloof when nervous, but very excitable and fun once they’re comfortable

- Incredibly Existential, probably has really deep conversations at like 3 am

- Very motivated, but so damn tired

- May or may not get paranoid a lot

- "You don't choose your deck/pendulum/runes. They choose you."

Deity / Spirit Work Witch:

- “Teacher, (Y/N)’s chanting ancient hymns in class again!”

- Tired eyes

- Peoplewatching, probably studies humans a lot despite being one of them

- Wise beyond their years

- Has a hard time making friends because few people are “on their level”

- The type of person that people are either intimidated by, or everyone looks up to

- Making playlists for your Deities

- Has that bigger-than-life energy that attracts many people, for better or for worse

- Very respectful and knows how to not lose their temper easily

- History and/or Culture enthusiast

- Probably has a fascination with a certain part of the world or culture

Pop Culture Witch:

- That fan who refuses to accept that their favorite character died

- Honestly tired of having to explain and justify their craft

- Probably has an Online Grimoire

- Almost definitely writes fanfiction (or at least reads a lot of it)

- I feel like they’d enjoy Buzzfeed Unsolved or other paranormal series (Gravity Falls, Paranorman, Over the Garden Wall, etc.)

- Stans like 12 different characters

- Enjoys Glamour Spells

- Daydreams a lot

- Owns too many books (or not enough)

- Very intuitive and has a good sense for what herbs/crystals go with a certain character

- Kinda got into Witchcraft by accident (like me)

- Very heavily influenced by their favorite series and such

- Probably likes Gay-coded Music (Mother Mother, Hozier, Lil Nas X, etc.)

Hedge Witch:

- Very vivid dreams

- Very interested in Astral Travel

- Often attracts random animals and children because of their “good energy”

- Talks to their home, the trees, spirits, everyone

- I feel like they’d have very cool looking but functional shoes

- A lonely (but not alone) soul

- Has a good morning routine, probably a morning person

- Any day where they can watch the sunrise is a good day

- Really likes folktales

- Big reader, but probably collects more books than they read

- Really wants an herb garden

- Constantly researching new practices, their book of shadows is huge

Storm Witch:

- Has really good intuition for the weather. Can pretty much feel when it’s going to rain

- Always has jars on the windowsill or pack porch to catch rainwater

- Enjoys the sound of thunder

- Really good at whistling (whistling up a wind)

- Probably really into Hopepunk or other punk subcultures

- Genuinely annoyed when it’s too sunny

- Either really outgoing or incredibly aloof. May be an Aquarius

- Angry 99.9% of the time, but does a decent job at not showing it

- Has a specific outfit for taking walks in the rain

- Has no volume control and accidentally talks to loud

- Very protective over loved ones

Summary:

Meg hires a guitarist for Castiel’s new cafe without telling him, and it turns out to be one Dean Winchester. The very same Dean who had been Castiel’s desperate high school crush.

When Castiel stepped out of the back office, he was relieved to see a good crowd of customers in the cafe. Getting through winter and spring had been difficult, but the previous owner had promised that summer would bring a boom of tourists, and enough business that he could put money away for his second winter. By the looks of it that certainly seemed to be true. The weather was beautiful today, and the tourists were here for it, happy to enjoy the early June sun on the beach.

When Castiel looked around for Meg he found her setting something up in the far corner of the room. He had a feeling he would regret asking, but he walked over to find out what she was doing.

When Castiel had moved back to Ocean Shores and decided to buy the little cafe, Meg had been looking for a job at the time. Cas had been nervous about hiring an old high school friend, but she’d turned out to be a reliable manager. And even though they were friends and had a relaxed working relationship, she still respected that the business was his baby.

“Do I want to know what you’re doing?” Castiel asked. He noticed she’d put one of the more comfortable upholstered chairs in the corner facing out, with a small table next to it.

“Don’t be mad,” Meg said, looking up at Castiel with mischievous eyes. “The summer guitarist starts today.”

Castiel gaped at Meg for a moment. “The what? You hired a musician without asking me? Did you at least audition them?”

Meg shrugged. “He said he played here last summer for the previous owner. So I figured he must be good.”

Cas shook his head. “Well if he sucks you have to be the one to tell him he’s fired.”

Meg grinned. “Deal.”

It was about a half hour later when the front door chimed, and Castiel looked up from behind the counter, only to see Dean Winchester walk through the door, guitar in hand.

Castiel was frozen in shock, and he couldn’t help but stare as Dean walked toward him, a grin splitting the handsome man’s face. He was still just as beautiful as he had been in high school, with bright green eyes and perfect freckles. If anything he looked even better now, and Castiel couldn’t help but notice how his t-shirt clung to his shoulders and his trim waist.

Witch Tips for Better Casting:

Within the last three years, I haven’t had a spell fail. This post is to help you understand how you can have a higher success rate. 

1: The big three:

When casting a spell of any kind or size, you must ALWAYS have all three of the following: a) Intention- Your intentions must be crystal fucking clear and have enough integrity so that they cannot be broken if you get distracted/interrupted during the casting. This cannot be done overnight. It takes practice and meditation for at least a few years to get to a point where your intentions are pure and powerful even in an extremely robust environment. 

b) Passion- You have to put your fucking soul into every spell, no matter how small. Casting a spell is a lot like having sex. It will be a little awkward, disheartening, and/or disappointing if you don’t put your soul into it. You are connecting to the forces that govern this reality and asking for a favor. You’d better have the decency to inhabit your truest self for that.

c) Presence- Great, so you have your subconscious mind and your soul in the game, but where is your intelligent mind? You can’t let your mind wander either. This is probably the hardest of the three to accomplish every single time because shit happens. Maintaining complete focus takes a lot of spoons, and you have to set a part of your life aside to do so. 

2: Location, location, location!

Being a city witch can be tough, you don’t have the wide open spaces as a rural witch. Yet, it is important that you can find a place that is somewhat quiet, has been sanctified, and most importantly: has a connection to the forces that you’re dealing with. We are witches. No, we don’t have to be secretive about our crafts as much these days, but we still need our privacy for the actual casting.  Here are some recommendations: Rooftops, empty subway cars, the shower (If noise is limited enough), off the trail at a nature conservation area, in a public park when there aren’t many people about and the noise is minimal, and abandoned buildings (Please be careful if you do this, they may have structural issues, and you’ll be breaking the law, so  be sneaky and smart about it)

But, overall, all you need is a place where your thoughts do not flee from you. A place where your mind can hone in on the task at hand and you can connect to the universe in the manner you need to. 

3: Spell design:

Be sure to put a lot of thought into your spells. Sometimes, there might be a better spell for the desired results. I’ll give some examples:

a) Trying to pass an exam? Instead of casting a spell to help you pass, it might be better to cast a spell to help you study and retain information. Then, take it a step further, and apply an essential oil to your wrist while you study, then apply the same oil again just before the exam. Compound the spell using other types of magic. Draw a sigil for memory on your body, glamour yourself so that you can take the test in peace without distractions, ect. 

b) Trying to cast a love spell, but it never really seems to work? How about casting a spell on yourself to increase confidence? then cast a glamour to draw attention to you. Draw sigils on your body that help with articulation and speaking clearly, or sigils that assist in decreasing anxiety and over-thinking. Then go talk to them. Be yourself. Be confident. Be the badass witch that you are.

Most of the time spells that target the caster are far more successful than those that do not. If it doesn’t target the caster, it will take a lot of spoons to cast it. Casting a spell that would affect a situation that is already pretty likely takes a hell of a lot fewer spoons than a spell that affects an unlikely situation. You must work WITH nature, not against it.
