There is a candidate named Tiffany G. in the current Ao3 board elections with a pro-censorship position for getting Ao3 unbanned in China. This is ship and kink agnostic: the only way to get Ao3 unbanned in China would be the removal of all explicit queer content to bring it in line with the online censorship policies of the CCP Pre-ban, Chinese writers used Ao3 to host LGBTQ+ and explicit content due to being censored on Chinese websites, and writers of danmei (m/m) stories have been sent to prison in China for publishing queer content.

There are 3 seats, and 5 candidates (including her) so she has an actual chance to get elected. If you’ve contributed $10 in the past year and have eligibility to vote in this election, it is essential that you do so. Please check your e-mail for the ballot and vote for everyone except Tiffany in whichever order you prefer based on their stances.

Chinese fandoms on Weibo are up in arms against this candidate warning about her intention to bring Ao3 in line with the Chinese censored fanfic sites

It’s sad, and frankly kind of ticks me off, to see the posts where content providers are asking for reblogs. You like it enough to heart it? What does it take, a few seconds more to reblog it. It doesn’t go with your blog’s aesthetic? Fuck that. If you want to see art and fanfics in your feed, you need to be supportive of the creators! Otherwise, they will either move to another site where the people are more supportive, or just stop making content all together,

currently writing my dissertation on Holmes and sexuality and thinking about how wild it is that Elementary a show where Watson is a woman and Holmes a man (meaning they are statistically as a male and female lead of a show incredibly likely to end up having something romantic between them), still managed to make Holmes and Watson more obviously friends than BBC Sherlock in which they are both men and just so ridiculously Not Friends that it is almost funny, like it is genuinely mind blowing. like I’m sorry but how hard is it to just not make them gay if you don’t want to make them gay like my guys
