Book One San Lang is so funny. He put his whole ghostussy into his human disguise -- every palm line and fingerprint in place, every strand of hair perfect -- but then he's just so blatantly Weird™. Like sure this teenage nepo baby wandering around on a whim because he was fighting with his parents will definitely take all of this Scary Supernatural Stuff in stride with no more than a very transparently flirtatious "I'm sca-wed gege. 🥺" Sure, he definitely just has casual encyclopedic knowledge of gods and defunct kingdoms going back almost a millennium and featuring details that aren't available on Wuxiapedia, and he can read dead languages. Of course he exhibits random carpentry skills. He stabs a guy with a chopstick and then shrugs when he deflates like a skin balloon. He cheerfully ties venomous snakes into knots and very evidently explodes them with his mind. Just Normal Human Kid things!

Mist

Tanjirou has noticed that the mist hashira likes to stare at him a lot. He has no idea why, but it mustn't be something bad, otherwise Tokito himself would have told him already, right?

"Tanjirou!" Tokito grins, rushing towards him as he enters the backyard.

The redhead smiles back, feeling relieved for a moment. It seems the whole "staring" at him thing is nothing he should worry about. The mist hashira probably does that with everyone else.

He gets tackled, but the ground is covered in grass so it doesn't hurt him at all. Besides, it seems Tokito is trying to be careful.

When Tanjirou feels Tokito nuzzling against his cheek he can't help but giggle.

They stay like that for a while, mostly because the Pillar refuses to let go of Tanjirou.

"Aren't you hungry?" Tanjirou asks with curiosity, quirking up one of his brows at him.

"No," Tokito pouts, almost stubbornly, and wraps his arms around Tanjirou even more.

The redhead laughs and decides to humor him and stay for a while like that; he notices that a couple of slayers and kakushi keep looking in their direction every now and then.

It doesn't bother him, he knows the Pillars are famous among all the slayers, so it must be because Tokito is there with him.

They only get up because Tanjirou tells him he's hungry, but Tokito follows him, holding his hand all the way back inside.

The mist hashira looks particularly happy that day; Tanjirou is glad because he knows Tokito doesn't have any family left.

He notices that the Pillar doesn't eat that much, but he doesn't seem to be as hungry as Tanjirou so the boy decides not to worry about it.

Then, Tokito stares at him again.

"Do I have something on my face?" Tanjirou asks with an amused smile because he's sure now that must be it, right? He probably has something on one of his cheeks...

Tokito shakes his head before putting both hands on his chin and sighing dreamily.

"I like to stare at you because you're beautiful."

Tanjirou almost chokes on his tea. His face turns red in seconds and he blinks in the Pillar's direction, still not believing what he just heard.

"Thank y-you, Tokito-san. You're pretty too."

Hearing the mist hashira giggle makes him feel more flustered, so he focuses on his meal instead.

"Sadly, I have to go," Tokito laments as soon as he spots his crow. "But I'll come see you again."

Tanjirou nods, smiling back, before his grin gets replaced by a surprised expression when Tokito takes both his hands and holds them close to his chest.

"I'm going to marry you, Tanjirou," the Pillar promises, making Tanjirou gasp. "You'll be my beautiful husband soon."

Tanjirou doesn't know what to say... is he... he's clearly joking, right?

However, when he's about to ask, Tokito leans closer to give him a quick kiss on the lips.

"I'll bring your first courting gift soon!" The hashira grins happily before getting up in order to follow his crow.

Even though part of him still doesn't believe what just happened, Tanjirou realizes that he's not opposed to the idea.

He needs to tell Nezuko as soon as possible.
