Trapping Planets Holding Water
Scientists say it’s possible five Earth-sized planets orbiting Trappist-1, an ultra-cool dwarf star located 39 light years away, contain “significant amounts of water.” An international team of astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) to measure the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation hitting all seven Trappist-1 exoplanets. The phenomenon is important because low-energy UV radiation…

What happened to NASA?
January 27, 2014
Do We Need Another Space Truck?
NASA’s Space Shuttle program ended July 8, 2011, we no longer have any satellite boosting capacity, other than ‘throw-away rockets’ that were until then the mainstay.
The Space Shuttle was our ‘Cargo Capable Carrier’ from Earth to orbit, retreival of non-functioning, repair and return-to-orbit satellites, and, was re-usable. Only the orbiter’s main tank needed replacing when used (refitting was also required). Once the ‘way to go’ was worked out and snarls removed, many satelittes were put into orbit, including the very large ”International Space Station” inhabited by dozens of ”space fare-ers” up to now. There were a total of 135 missions. Canada produced the ”Canadarm”, the necessary mechanical arm used to remove ‘cargo’ and delicately place it into orbit.
Notable satellite, “The Hubble Space telescope” was one. Due to the vacuum of space and distance from gravity-heavy, atmosphere and tremor-filled Earth, the Hubble has, and continues to produce awesome images of billion light-year distant Stars and Galaxies. Now what could be more inspiring than that? Knowledge of other planets with lifeforms like our own would be a momentous occasion.
”SpaceX” in 2011 has commited to designing and building a heavy-lift, low-cost rocket booster that would do twice the job of current rockets, at a third of the cost, in the ‘mythical’ $1,000/pound range, still being worked on.
In 2012, NASA was building a heavy lift rocket bigger than the Saturn V, that would have a payload of 77 metric tons, due in 2017. But is it a Space Shuttle? Not being reusable, this would not be the case. It’s a ‘different package’ rocket, to be used for deep space missions.
Manned Mars missions would cost $500 million with a scaled up version of this new rocket, with a 130 ton payload, compared to a shuttle SRB worth $23 - $70 million. The SRB did have a lower payload.
So, space is not being ‘left alone’, we do have future plans for inter-planetary travel, and, it will be spectacular.

The ISS is orbiting over Belgium, now. 1:42 pm PST, 5/2/17. David Schaedler
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions left the US illegally. He says he’s taking a vacation. But (actually) he’s leaving during a sexual harassment scandal. 4:10 am PST ABC10 News. Where kind of court system are we going to have, when our top lawyer is embroiled in a lawsuit? And that’s his! A sexual harassment lawsuit, too. It’s as if this highest Trump cabinet lawyer is flaunting the legal system, testing it to see if he can subvert it to his own purposes. And Trump’s. The top lawyer! If he does, there goes the legal system. Lying to the Judge, dismissed - Anyone with a simple lie can get off their lawsuit by citing his. Anyone smart enough, that is. “Your Honor, my client only wasn’t at home at the time of the invasion. He wasn’t there.” And by that lie, purposefully introduced by that lawyer, thousands can break the law, shake their fist at John Law, and laugh in the face at every policeman in America. Do we want that to occur? No. No! One other vote, No! We must do more to persuade every instance of legality in our court system. To insure that it always remains legal. In these times of ‘Fake News’, we have to insure that our legal system always remains legal. David Schaedler 4/12/17
Hillary Clinton spent a record $1.2 billion on her Presidential run, and emptied it in the final week, according to the Washington Post. Donald Trump spent 'only' $330 million according to another news source. Wow, a real record in my book. D Schaedler 12/11/16

Guinea Pigs
What do you know about guinea pigs? They are not from Guinea, nor are they pigs. They came from the Andes and are a staple there. Long ago, a lot of 1,000 guinea pigs and lamas were sacrificed to appease the gods for better crop harvests. Nowadays, they are raised for food in small, shallow holes inside the homes of those in South America that raise them, for food, although not in large numbers.
There are many breeds, including long and short-haired versions of various ‘forest colors’. My two are American and Coronet.
As for behavior as pets, they are mostly nocturnal, yet are awake off and on in daytime. They need diet food and like sweet Timothy Hay. Like humans, these rodents need vitamin C, usually put in water or food by liquid from their owners. They can ‘put up with’ a 2’ X 3’ cage minimum and need ”social time” as they are ”social animals”, so are best kept in pairs or with litter mates.
For me, particularly, I’ve noticed they can tolerate noisy vacuums and dishwashers; and, they have hearing up to 50,000 hertz. On the other hand, I’ve heard lights switching on and off may upset them. As an owner, one should check their paws, ears, eyes, nose, teeth and fur weekly for ‘irregularities’. Being prey animals, they have a tendency to hide their faults from predators; that they ‘think’ is everyone else, and is hard to breed out.
They speak in ”wheeks”, sounding somewhat like small whistles, squeals, ”chuffs”, and other vocalizations; and may display dominant/submissive behavior, like territorial hindquarters rocking or sounding a low frequency “chatter”.
These animals are a joy to keep and watch, and I fully would recommend them as pets.
