You were curled up in bed, doomscrolling, practically pouting, mute, and ignoring your annoyingly unserious boyfriend. He hadn't done anything wrong, you were just stressing about work, already dreading the day that had yet to happen. You knew you'd be alright, you were always alright, and you also knew that you should talk about it instead of silently brooding, but old, bad habits died hard, and no amount of reasoning or rational could pull you out of your glum mood.
"Hellooo," Reigen called out tauntingly. "Anybody home?" He laughed, collapsing over your lap and crushing you with his weight.
You glared down at him momentarily before resuming your doomscrolling, though you were hardly paying any mind to what was on the screen now that he was demanding your attention.
"Yikes." He raised his eyebrows. You made a sound of protest when he snatched your phone out of your hand, locking it before tossing it aside on the bed. "You want to talk to me about something?" Reigen kept his cool and cocky facade, but you didn't miss the way his brows furrowed slightly.
"Sorry," you mumbled. "I just don't feel good right now." You avoided his prodding gaze.
He rolled off of your lap and shuffled to your side. "You need me to get you something? Water? Food? Motrin?" He studied you innocently.
"No, not like that." You smiled a little. For as goofy as he was, he could be so caring and gentle when the situation called for it. "I just feel so anxious right now," you sighed. "That's why I'm acting so bitchy." You cracked a sheepish grin. "Sorry."
Reigen laid on his side, propping his head up on his hand to look up at you. "That's okay. It's cute when you act all bratty." He grinned too, making you roll your eyes. "Talk to me though. What's bothering you?"
"Just work." You shrugged. "I don't want to have to deal with that project I was telling you about." You frowned.
"You can always come work for me." He wiggled his eyebrows. "I could use a sexy receptionist."
"Be serious," you groaned dramatically, suppressing a giggle.
Reigen smiled, snaking a hand under the blanket to caress your thigh. "It won't be as bad as your brain is telling you it is," he explained matter-of-factly, softly massaging your skin. "It will come and go, the same way it always does, and if you have a stressful day, you know I'll make it better tomorrow. For now, you're here, and you look super sleepy and pouty and adorable, it's making my junior throb..." He squeezed your thigh for extra measure.
"I hate when you call it that!" You giggled loudly. "You pervert!"
"Yeah, I just wanted to hear you laugh." Reigen grinned stupidly. He sat up, grabbing your face, squishing your cheeks, and making a show out of kissing your cheek, nose, and forehead. "You feel better yet, or do I have to kiss you somewhere else...?"
You playfully shoved at his chest. "You're so slutty."
"I was talking about your lips, the ones on your face!" He laughed. "I think you're the perverted one here."
"I learn from the best," you giggled. "Thanks for cheering me up." Your problems slowly fell to the back of your mind. Your anxiety would never vanish entirely, but it was nice that you had these moments and this man when it seemed all was lost. It never really was.
He kissed your cheek again. "No thanks needed. You're my girl. Happy wife, happy life, right?"
"I'm not your wife." You narrowed your eyes at him, but the smile that plastered your lips betrayed you.
"Not yet you aren't, crybaby."
