Either way, I’m excited to show you guys :D I’ve been planning this for a while now, and it’s nice to finally have another actiony part in this AU. And, yeah, I have nothing else to say. Chase woke up to someone shaking him. He rolled over, and looked up to see Henrik. “Hhrm?”

“Ah, sorry to wake you,” Henrik said apologetically. “But we are about to start planning. I thought you would want to join.”

“Oh. Right.” Chase sat up, and looked around. It didn’t really feel like any time had passed since he’d laid down to take a nap. And it didn’t look like it had, either, since the windows to the inn room were thick, blocking out all light when they were drawn. “Of course.”

“Great. We are meeting in the other room. Follow me.”

They were planning in another inn room, which was rather small with about fifteen people crowded into it. By the time Henrik and Chase arrived, all available sitting areas had been taken, including on top of the beds. Chase closed the door behind him as they entered, and awkwardly leaned against the nearby wall.

Fantasy Masks AU: Chapter Six

*gasp* A POV change?! For the first time in this story?! How exciting! Yeah short description because I’ve had a long day as of queueing this, but basically we follow Marvin as he tries to track down the King. But instead, along the way, he meets someone new. And that’s all I have to say. Hope you enjoy :)

The noble family Portmota lived on the edge of the Southern Moors, their castle built on the last bit of solid land before the rivers came in and flooded the south of the kingdom. Officially, their claim covered all of the Moors, but everybody knew that the Moors ran on their own, much like the mountain villages to the west and north. But the meagerness of their claim didn’t stop the family from building themselves a solid, grand castle. It sat on top of a small hill, surrounded by a thick stone wall. The castle’s multiple towers reached the sky, and were numerous to require a large staff to keep the place running for the noble family and any visitors they might have.

With such a large body of servants, it was easy to slip in unnoticed. They always accepted help, and as long as you didn’t appear troublesome, they’d immediately snatch you up and put you to work the moment you asked for a position, no interview needed. 

This was something Marvin found out first hand when he decided to infiltrate the castle in preparation for the King’s visit.

The Alchemist and the Thief

Jameson and Marvin as they appear in the Pirate AU. I decided Marvin would normally go with a darker, more subtle mask, but definitely has special ones for special occasions. But this one is cloth and softer on his burns.

When he’s not dealing with clients, Jameson is the most reclusive of recluses, so whenever Marvin is back on shore he’s sure to drag his twin out of his lab for at least one night on the town.

Jameson is taller and thinner than Marvin, who has a more muscular frame from living on the seas and all those years of manual labor. Jameson is also not very touchy-feeling or good with emotions, but Marvin is - while being incredibly traumatized physically - equally as touched starved, so he’s like a leech on his brother when they are together. And Jameson, surprisingly, doesn’t really mind.

Secrets in the Static

Jameson Jackson was born with blood on his hands, put there by one who was born the same. Jameson Jackson was born with silver strings pulled taut around his wrists, controlled by a master that he can’t remember. He can’t remember. But his brothers can’t forget. After they had collected their shivering little brother, Anti’s own demonstration of how far his power stretches, they all made a pact with one another. Not a single one of them would dare breathe a word of this to their dapper man. He didn’t deserve to carry the burden that had been thrust upon him mere minutes after his creation. Ignorance is bliss after all.

They never believed that JJ meant anything to Anti past that video. They had thought that he had gotten bored of their baby brother. They had thought he was safe. But Anti had been in their heads. He knew how fiercely they all loved, how it could cloud their judgements and become their weakness. He knew exactly how much they would do for this puppet. JJ was a blank slate, and oh how beautiful a masterpiece he would create with their own devotion as his chalk. 

It was only two weeks after JJ’s initial possession that Anti made his first move. The glitch appeared before the littlest ego. At first JJ had tried to ignore him, thinking that it was just his imagination, a mirage of sorts. But the ghost kept appearing, getting closer and closer until there was no room left to deny his reality.

"I won't help you." Jameson signed. The red strings hissed around Jay's wrists, slowly tightening every few minutes. Jay fought them as much as he could, constantly ignoring how much they burned when he tried to pull them off. Anti pulled Jay close to him. "I still need you." Anti growled, swinging his knife at Jay.

Jameson avoided this and kicked Anti instead. Anti didn't move, but became furious. He grabbed Jameson's arms and shoved him into a wall. "You're going to give me answers, and it doesn't matter how much time you're wasting from me. You need to know when to give up. You couldn't save any of them, not even yourself, so what makes you think that you can escape from this so easily?" Anti hovered above the ground and glitched wildly. Jay closed his eyes and rolled across the floor, then stood back up.

Jameson opened his eyes and waited. Anti charged at him, and Jameson turned to face him, throwing a few good punches before jumping in the air and moving around missing Anti's knife attacks. Anti smiled, the bruises on his face healing in seconds. "Hmm...So Jackie taught you something after all. Tired already too?" Anti taunted.

Jameson looked exhausted and he noticed blood spilling from beneath his clothes. He desperately tried to wipe it off, but he could only feel horror as more of it got onto his hands.

Tears formed in Jay's eyes. He began to feel dizzy, and fell to the floor. "I know you might not hear me. That's fine. Just know that you can't win." Anti turned to face Schneep. "Tell him what I just said. I want him to see it for himself." Anti grinned. Schneep signed Anti's message. This is only made Jay cry more, quietly to himself.

"I thought you escaped?" Jameson moved his hands, looking at Schneep. "I tried but it did not work. You will learn that freedom is not an option. You will be a puppet too." Schneep replied.

Anti's hands glowed green and he healed Jameson. "What do we do next, master?" Schneep questioned. "You let jackie escape....Do you think I would be giving your more important orders right now?" Anti's eyes glowed green and his expression became a scowl. "We take Jay with us. He will be useful with information....." Anti held his knife close to Jay's face, just to see him cry again.
