infinitely funny that wilson turned vegetarian while house was in prison to show that he’s moving on with his life and is capable of making personal changes that don’t revolve around his boybestfriend situationship but then the MINUTE they reunite he’s like “let’s get dinner! I’m craving MEAT 😋😋’. what kind of symbolism is this. I’m going to say a slur
it’s a very amusing thing to realize that kitsey and theo basically have the same type and it’s a dark-haired vaguely criminal dude who will hurt your feelings but then send you a dog pic the next day and think he’s fogiven and he’ll also peer-pressure you into doing drugs. ‘you don’t know what it’s like to be in love with a wrong person’ my ass. maybe find yourself someone you won’t have to hide from your parents next time
me 0.0001 seconds after i see my celebrity crush in literally any movie/show (i became feral and started howling at the moon)
Donna Tartt really put her whole Tarttussy in The Goldfinch
thinking about the implications of boris nicknaming theo “potter”…. he calls him potter the first time they meet, he “knows” who theo is immediately, before theo even does. harry potter is an orphan but theo doesn’t become an orphan until after boris calls him this… it’s foreshadowing and it’s also indicating that boris is the first (and only) person to fully get who theo is
just watched the goldfinch movie with my good pal @somethingmissingthings and here are some of our favorite letterboxd reviews.
oh boy do i have so many thoughts about this movie but i won’t get into those now.
ANYWAY, last but not least:

Remember the 5 rules of life:
1. Make it count
2. Play it straight
3. Don’t look back
4. Don’t hesitate
5. It’s the only life you got so you gotta live it big time
I have seen many people critique how Donna Tartt ends novels, particularly The Secret History and The Goldfinch.
But the thing is, you’re being told snippets, moments and memories of a person’s life - it’s not a story that can end fully resolved or mysteriously. Tartt writes about someone who might exist, a character so realistic that it’s unbelievable how complex they are.
That isn’t a story you can end, not in any satisfying way, it only ends when there isn’t much left to say.
