Hi lovelies! I hope you are all having a beautiful day! I have decided to make a 28 Day Witchy Challenge Post. This can be started at the beginning of the month or at any time. Itâs whatever you prefer.
This is geared towards all witches, new and old. This challenge is focused on taking care of you and your witchy self. I am starting off September with challenge one. Iâd love to see or know if y'all do it!!
đŽ DAY 1 - Take time out of your day to think about, write about, or draw what your witchy self looks like. What they are into. Their favorite witchy activity. Any details you can possibly think of.
đŽDAY 2 - Take the day to meditate. It can be about anything or nothing at all. Let your mind wonder and do itâs thing. Journal about it and let things come to you.
đŽDAY 3 - BUY SOMETHING WITCHY! This challenge is all about self-care for you and your witchy self, so it can be as simple as spending a dollar at the dollar store or buying something elaborate online. If there is no way you can buy something, try to find something. For example, go to the woods/Park and try to find a mushroom for an offering.
đŽDAY 4 - Piggy backing off of day 3, MAKE SOMETHING JUST FOR YOU AND YOUR CRAFT. Like all of these days, it can be something big or small. You can make a set of runes or maybe make yourself a picture for your alter. Just make it for YOU!
đŽDAY 5 - Watch or listen to something witchy. Charmed, Practical Magic, listen to some witchy music, anything!
đŽ DAY 6 - Spend some time in nature! Whether it is sitting on your lawn or taking a hike, or even a walk through the park, just take time to appreciate nature and Mother Earth and all she had given us.
đŽDAY 7 - Let an entire candle burn. I know this may sounds silly to some of you, but I am the type of person that struggles with this (unless doing a specific spell). So, just sit with your candle and watch it burn. Feel free to multitask while doing this. Just try to focus on it now and again. It can be a birthday candle or a very large candle, whatever works for you.
đŽDAY 8 - Make a special cup of tea. If youâre not a tea drinker, try a different kind or hot coco or coffee. When making, focus in your intent. When drinking, focus on all the different flavors you taste and sensations you feel.
đŽDAY 9 - Journal about the elements and what they mean to you.
đŽDAY 10 - Make a list of new worst things you can try. It can be anything like talking more walks or a new spell!
đŽ DAY 11 - Journal about your deities/higher power. What they mean to you. If you donât have any, then try to journal about the energies around you. What you feel and the power.
đŽ DAY 12 - Piggy backing off of day 12, write down/find a new way you can honor your deities or energies that you journaled about. And if itâs possible, do it! It can be anything from a leaf you found to an elaborate meal. It can be simply praying.
đŽDAY 13 - BATH OR SHOWER MAGIC! This is pretty self-explanatory, but try to just take some time and take a magical bath or shower. It doesnât have to be elaborate, or it can! Try to just focus your intent and maybe try a shower or bath meditation. There are a ton of different things here on Tumblr, so get creative!
đŽDAY 14 - Spell Jar!! There are a TON of spell jars on Tumblr and all over the internet. You can use those or make your own! They are very easy and great if youâre low on spoons!
đŽDAY 15 - Cook! If you arenât able to cook due to physical reasons, or even lack of time, then try to eat something special. Regardless, cook or at least eat something that inspires you or harnesses your intent.
đŽDAY 16 - PRAYER! This is pretty self-explanatory, but try to honor and show your intent. Ask even, for guidance, hope, strength, whatever!
đŽDAY 17 - Sky watching! You can watch the Moon and stars or just the clouds go by.
đŽDAY 18 - Journal about what magick means to you. Go into as much detail as possible.
đŽDAY 19 - SIGILS! Make your own sigil! Focus your intent and be creative! If there is no way you can come up with your own, then feel free to use one from the internet.
đŽDAY 20 - Alter time!!! Try to redecorate your alter! If you are in the broom closet, then maybe draw one!
đŽDAY 21 - Journal about ways you can, from now on, nurture yourself. Whether itâs teas, baths, putting on makeup, whatever! Make lists or just woke about the things you want to do!
đŽDAY 22 - Worry Stone! You can find one or make one or but one, itâs totally up to you! Which brings us tooooooooooooâŚâŚ
đŽDAY 23 - Cleanse and charge your items!! There are umpteen different ways you can cleanse and charge your items, just pick one! Please make sure that however you cleanse and charge your items, it is safe for them.
đŽDAY 24 - PLANTS! Take care of your plants, harvest a plant, buy a plant, even take some time to talk with your plants!
đŽDAY 25 - SCAVENGER HUNT! No, not literally. But, go find something that nature has given you. A mushroom, a leaf, anything! Place it on your alter and honor it! By honoring it, you honor Mother Nature and all that she has created. Including you!
đŽDAY 26 - Do a glamour!! This can be anything from enchanting your chapstick to make you feel loved or carrying a self-love charm bag. Get creative with it! Try to make your intent focus on love from yourself or self-confidence!
đŽDAY 27 -MAKE YOUR OWN SPELL! Literally, just have fun with this. Use your alter, use your journal entries and the internet and books! Get creative! Focus your intent and be specific! It can be low spoons or high spoons. Whatever works for you!
đŽDAY 28 - MEDITATE! Meditate about the past 28 days and all the work youâve done! Think and focus on your craft and all the self-care you have worked for!
I hope y'all enjoy this! Please let me know if you do it! Iâd love to hear y'allâs thoughts! Feel free to edit this however you want! Make it work for you! I hope all you lovelies are have a beautiful day/night! đ
Love and light
Cait â
This spell is designed to let a specific spirit know that you are open to communication. It includes protective elements to avoid attracting negative entities.
*It is important to research the side effects of herbs before coming into contact with them. One should also keep in mind their personal allergies and medications taken when ingesting herbs. Your safety is more important than an ingredient.*
Ingredients
Dried Rose Hip (2 or more)
Clove incense
Dandelion (one stem and flower)
Mint leaf or scent, in any natural form
An item that relates to the spirit you wish to contact
A Brown or White candle
Directions
Light your Clove incense and your candle.
Sit with your item in your hand. Rub it clockwise.
Picture the spirit as you know it in your mind. Verbalize your openness to receiving communications (if you are unable to verbalize this or do not feel comfortable you can think it instead).
Take your rose hip and dandelion. Wrap them together (with string or cloth). Bury them under your doorstep (if you do not have a traditional doorstep you can put it on your porch, hang it in your doorway, or bury it by an entrance).
Leave a window or door open (it could be slightly open or fully open) for one hour.
Be sure to pay attention to little signs and happenings after performing this ritual and be sure to try and remember your dreams!
This spell is dedicated to my Grandmother, Marie, who I never had the chance to meet during her short time on earth. I hope to see you someday.
*** This spell is meant for increasing the bond of a previously established relationship. This spell wonât create a relationship that was not previously there.***
CHANT:
Like a bee to a flower, we need to be lovers, one cannot live without the other, and should it be found that we are apart, weâll be connected at the core of our hearts. For I am your one and you are to mine, forever and always, together in time.
WHAT YOUâLL NEED:
1. A purple candle 2. A gold thread/string
WHAT YOUâLL NEED TO DO:
1. Light the purple candle. 2. The gold thread will be a representation of your bond. Wrap it around your candle and tie a knot ONLY ONCE while repeating the chant. 3. Keep this candle at your bedside or somewhere in the room that you share with your partner. You can keep the candle lit as long as you would like but you can blow out the candle once the knot has been tied. 4. Every night, simply light the candle and retighten the knot. This represents strengthening the bond of your relationship continuously. Because relationships are a continuous effort, they must be continuously strengthened. You may retighten throughout the day if necessary. Repeat the chant while doing this as often as you can (kind of like singing during any task). ***OPTIONAL: You may engrave a sigil of Strength into the side of the candle***
Blessed be.
I want to teach you all how I make my fabric poppets, and how you can make your own too. Here is my post detailing all of what I do to make my adorable plush fabric poppets.
I also sell them if making them yourself is too much fuss for any reason. Here are details.
ââSuppliesââ
- Fabric of your choice- My fabric of choice is fleece. The fabric should be a color you can match with your intent, personality, etc.
- Person-shaped pattern to trace- You can use a gingerbread man cookie cutter to make your paper pattern, free hand, or if you like you can use mine which I will gladly sell you a copy of- message me for details.
- Needle and thread- You can use different thread colors for different intentions.
- Stuffing and any extras- herbs, objects, etc.
- A marker of a similar but darker color than the fabric
- Scissors
-Step 1-
Lay out your fabric. Lay down the poppet pattern on the fabric. I prefer to weight them down with rocks so they donât shift. (You can of course choose rocks that match your intent.)
-Step 1.5-
I then trace the patter with a maker that is of a similar color to the fabric, but off enough that I can see it. Donât worry about being super clean with your lines because they will be hidden in the inside seams.
-Step 2-
Next, to sew the pieces together. Place them together so that the side with the marker line faces out.
Then, grab your needle and thread. Thread your needle.
Be sure to have a piece of thread to work with that is about as long as your arm. This should be enough for the whole poppet, but make sure to have more on hand just in case.
-Step 3-
Start your sewing in the place where the opening will end later. I typically choose the âarmpitâ of the poppet because then the opening gives me great access to all of its insides for later.
I use a kind of slip stitch for sewing. Really any stitch will do, but I will show you mine. I put the needle all the way through both pieces of fabric to make a loop, and before tightening I stick the needle through the loop, then tighten. This makes a kind of knot that is durable and nice looking. Hereâs a picture:
Aside- Why I hand sew- I find the process of hand sewing to be not only relaxing but also more magical. I can focus on my intentions while I sew, and with each stitch Iâm fastening my energy into it. This is by no means the only way you can sew them together, but it is my personal preferred way.
Continue sewing around to join the two pieces of fabric. **Remember to leave a 1.5in opening! Also leave your thread attached!** This is the only way to turn it inside out and hide the seams.
- Step 4-
Turn it inside-out. Reach inside and grab the top of the poppetâs head and pull it through the hole like shown. You may need to poke around a bit to make sure everything is fully turned right-side-out.
-Step 5- Once right-side-out, your poppet is ready for stuffing. Start with the appendages first, that way you can make sure they are well-fluffed. After that, if you want add in balls of stuffing in the places of major organs to make it more human. (A ball for a brain, a ball for a stomach, that kind of thing)
If you like, add in herbs or objects for your intent, or keys to link the poppet with the person that youâre targeting. Consider positions of the objects and herbs inside the poppet and the significance. I added rose petals in the head and heart of this one, and mint and rosemary in the stomach. That gives it some symbolism, and what witch doesnât enjoy symbolism?
-Step 6- When it is stuffed to satisfaction, sew up the opening with the same stitch we sewed with before flipping it. This leaves a rough edge, and I actually like it that way. It makes it easier to cut open the stitching if you ever wanted to for any reason. I canât be the only person thatâs wanted to rip someoneâs stuffing out (thereâs a curse idea) so I hope you find it useful too.
Do a couple more stitches to assure your thread isnât going anywhere and then cut it off.
Ta-da! A perfect poppet for all of your witchcraft needs.
Happy crafting!Â
 - Max the Death Witch
For my witches who cannot speak, struggle to speak, or choose to remain quiet.
This post is a compilation of ideas and personal methods from fellow nonverbal witches. Not everything may fit for you, but hopefully it will give you a starting point!
Write the words and focus your energy on bringing them into being. You could burn the piece of paper to finish off the spell. One contributor also mentions burying the paper.Â
Our thoughts are powerful. Focus, and say the words in your mind.
You can also mouth the words without speaking them, if that helps you.
Whispering is also great if that works for you!
Find power in silence, use it as its own tool.
Use instruments to create certain rhythms for different spells, instead of chanting.Â
If sound is helpful, play music that you feel relates/connects you to the spell.
Cast circles and finalize spells by snapping.
Sigils are concentrated intentionâuse that to your advantage. They can absolutely be a base for spellwork.Â
Use a power source; the elements (candles, soil, the air around you, a bowl of water, etc.), crystals, burning herbs, etc.
To feel energy without using words to confirm: use tools that have stronger energy that you can physically feel. Â
Make spell candles, jars or sachets.Â
Use sign language! Iâm of the opinion that everyone should at least learn the basics, and there are plenty of free resources out there!
Casting a circle:Â âYou can cast a circle by walking in a circle and visualizing your footsteps imprinting on the earth below, creating a barrier of light (color chosen to correspond to intention at the time), walk the circle 3 times and see the barrier in your mind forming a perfect sphere around your work space, becoming brighter and stronger each step you take.â*
To banish: write the things you wish to banish on a piece of paper, light them on fire with a black candle and place in a burn bowl.Â
To release and invite: use two pieces of paper. On one, write down everything youâd like to release from your life. On the other, write down everything youâd like to invite into your life. Burn the release paper and dispose of the ashes, keep the invite paper. (Optional: I like to do this on the new moon, and have a black candle above the release paper and a white candle above the invite paper).
Protective charm: (click here)
To raise you out of a dark place: (click here)
Spell of destruction: (click here)
Use a cajon, bells, singing bowl, steel tongue drum/moondrum, or other instruments to raise energy!
âI have a specific snapping rhythm that is âmagic timeâ. When I snap the rhythm once or three times itâs go time and I fall into the zone.â*
âFor energy work and to raise energy I dance and as my heartbeat gets louder in my ears I mentally chant with it, focusing on a short phrase, intention, or incantation with the energy I physically raised and the meditative repetition of my mind.â*
Use a power source; the elements, crystals, burning herbs, etc.
Most energy work involves movement, rather than words (click here for energy work with restricted movement).
Worship: write letters, devote your actions, decorate an altar. Prayers donât need to be spoken! Or write your prayers and place them on an altar, burn them, or keep them. (Bedridden worship)
Divination doesnât require spoken word, especially once you have a bond with your tools. You can always use writing, sigils, or your thoughts to channel your intent/question. (Bedridden divination)
Charge crystals with your intent and wear them/carry them in a pouch.Â
Kitchen witchcraft, garden magic, tea magic, etc. etc.Â
Utilize the correspondences of the items in your life.Â

P.S. please remember that everyone's practice is their own and you should do what feels right to you while respecting that other people have their own beliefs (as long as they're not hateful).
I've seen some lists around the website, but they're too fancy for me. Here are things I actually do everyday.
đąFirst thing, open all the blinds for the plants.
âPut cinnamon in my coffee filter (not in the cup itself, it blends better this way).
đżWear 2 charms currently. One for general soothing & protection, the second to find a new job.
đBring some magical item with me, like cards, potion, crystals, herbs, book. Even if I don't use it, it keeps my mind at a better place.
đłTake the path with the most trees. I try to take the path that will provide me with more nature & sunshine, to & from work.
đTry to learn one thing. Either I scroll witchy media or read a page or two. It's usually one small new fact.
đEasy journaling. Journal entries of only a few lines, multiple times a day. One thought, one entry.
No pressure. Also drink water đĽ¤

Trick or treat!
Treat!
(A poppet spell for breaking negative energy)
Create a poppet with a taglock for your friend or family member who is dealing with bad energy or vibes. Lovingly bathe it in a cleansing bath of charged water with rosemary, lemon, salt- maybe some rose petals to help soothe them.
Since youâre using a poppet feel free to use rainwater or moon water, rose petals from any grocery store or boutique, and even essential oils rubbed into the poppetâs fabric/skin.
Afterwards, draw tiny protection sigils or bindrunes on thin strips of paper and fashion them into wrist braces and a necklace to twist around the poppets arms and neck
Keep in a safe place until at least your friend/family feels better- or as long as you like.
Repeat the cleansing bath if needed as necessary.
Hello my fellow witchlings! I just wanted to shout a reminder about mortars and pestles and spell work! Note: mortar and pestles are usually made of stone or wood. WOOD IS ONLY FOR HERBS. Stone onesâsoap stone or otherwiseâis use for crushing resins and even fresh garlic! I would recommend having one stone one for your kitchen for kitchen magic, and one stone one exclusively for resins. Youâll see why in a moment. If youâre a witch who likes grinding things into powder (oh hi!) please remember the following: - Use 2 separate mortars and pestles, one for resins and one for herbs. - Resins get gummy the more you pulverize them and itâs been my experience that myrrh in particular is sticky/gummy and WILL leave a bit of a sticky residue in the mortar. There will always be a bit of resin stuck in the rougher mortars. Itâs life. But itâs also why you should keep it separate from herbs. Too sticky. - Use wooden mortars and pestles for crushing and mixing herbs and oils. Always crush herbs before adding oil (or essential oils). Wood is used because oil doesnât soak into it like it will in stone. - Remember that churning your pestle in a clockwise direction stirs IN magic and positivity. Counter clock wise banishes negative energy. A mortar and pestle is a great way to practice focusing and raising your energy if youâre new to spell work! Find an incense recipe you want to make, ground and center, then get comfy in your magic kitchen or in a space youâve deemed magical (or sacred). put on music thatâs calming or upbeat (but no words), whatever your preference! I usually listen to Gaelic or even Hawaiian music when I do this! Take each plant and hold it for a moment. Feel itâs energy. What does it feel like? Thank the herb and put it in your mortar and begin to crush it, focusing on putting your energy into each crush and turn, on the reason why youâre making this incense (protection? Luck? Love? Happy home?). Do the same for each herb (and then oil) you use. Feel the energy raising and flowing from your hand to the plants, from the plants to your hand, building energy in the mortar. When you feel its done/ready say âso mot it beâ. Your incense is ready to use!
Yâall asked for it so yâall gonna get it! Iâmma start off with the barebones essentials and work my way to basic definitions. Sit down on something comfy and get yourself your warm beverage of choice and maybe grab a notebook because here goes.
Runic alphabets have been around since about 150 AD and used as a writing system by a lot of Germanic languages. These systems were eventually phased out, slowly but surely, with the progressive Christianisation that started around 700-1100 AD. The three most commonly known (and used?) Are the Elder Futhark, the Younger Futhark and Futhorc.
Runes arenât, themselves, broadly meant for divination, thought there are a few passages in the Eddas that mention Odin âfindingâ and using them.
Whichever one you want! I prefer using the Elder Futhark, because itâs the first alphabet I learned and got familiar with, but that doesnât at all stop you from using the Younger Futhark or Futhorc. Iâd heavily suggest making sure you read up on the differences in each alphabet though; Ansuz, for example, wonât look the same, mean the same or even be called the same from one alphabet to another.Â
Familiarize yourself with each of them if you want/can, and choose based on your own preferences and criteria. Always work with what feels best for you!
This is the concept that got my goat real good the first time. You do not, in any way, shape or form, need to be experienced to cast runes. This is a notion that is outdated and perpetuated by gatekeepers and exclusionists. No one gives a flying flip how long youâve been practicing witchcraft, or if you even practice at all!
Divination should be seen as a tool to further yourself and/or your craft. It can be used by itself or in conjunction with other activities, practices or beliefs. I was 15 when I started learning about runes (dear god that was literally over ten years ago) and I had no idea what I was doing back then. I read up as much as I could about the system I was wanting to use and, once I was comfortable with it, I started doing small readings.
It shouldnât matter how new or familiar you are to divination, rune casting or Germanic traditions. If rune casting feels right to you, you are more than free to use whatever divination method feels right to you.
As a Norse Pagan, I usually invoke my patron deities (Baldr and Loki, in this case), as well as Odin and Freyja, sometimes Gullveig/Heiðr because reasons. I have no idea whether or not this has any actual bearing on the reading itself, as mine were as accurate before I converted as they are now.
Making sure youâre in a quiet and/or comfortable space is also a good idea, even if that just means popping in some earphones and listening to something that makes you focus and feel calm.
This is also a good time to mention that cleansing your runes (stone, bone, wood or otherwise) is a very good idea. I typically do this with candles, incense, a bowl of water and a point of quartz for each element. I donât do this nearly as often as I probably should, since most people suggest cleansing them after each reading⌠but, whatever, being lax with that hasnât bitten me in the ass so far. So if youâre a spoonie, donât worry: cleanse your runes when you feel they need to be cleansed, and thatâs it.
Let me start by saying that the bullshit about never reading yourself? Itâs just that. Bullshit. Do readings on yourself if you want to. Who the hell is going to stop you. Do whatever you want.
On that note, there are a few ways to cast runes, though these probably arenât close to being the only ones:Â
Intuitively choosing the stones Lay the runes down on a flat surface and let your hand hover over them and pick out the ones that feel right. You can either pick them in order of the spread youâre using, or place the runes where you feel they belong on the spread.
Throwing the stones Make sure you have a large flat surface to work with (preferably the floor honestly) where you wonât drop, scatter or lose a rune. You can use a mat underneath, and read the stones that fall on the corresponding positions in the spread or circle. (You can find many of these with a quick google search, or make your own mat!) Otherwise, you can take the first stones you see facing up and lay those out according to your spread.
Picking them blindly Either you or the person youâre reading pull stones blinding out of a pouch, bag or other container, and lay them out according to the spread youâre using. Pretty straightforward.
If you can think of another method, literally nothing is stopping you from using that instead. The runes are acting as a universal translator for whatever it is youâre tapping into. Theyâre just a tool to receive a message. How you choose to receive that message is completely up to you!
Now comes the fun part. I can only really give you a good run-down of the Elder Futhark, and though itâs a good starting point, I would highly advise you do your own research on whatever alphabet you want to use. Wikipedia is a great place to start, but donât stop there: look at several different websites and lists and compare. Combine and condense the information for yourself, and get to learn the definitions and meanings for yourself!

Phew! What a list. These are just brief descriptions and meanings that Iâve been able to compile and condense over the years.
I see where youâre coming from. As a baby diviner, I, also, was confused by this. But let me explain how Iâve come to understand it!Â
Sometimes, if youâre doing a set spread, youâll have a spot for things like, âwhat will oppose youâ, or âwhat you need to avoidâ. Things like that. If, say, a rune like Suwilo was found in something like that, youâd want to try and keep a sharp mind to avoid deceptions or letting yourself be too gullible.
When runes donât have a reversed form, their position in your spread will usually determine what they mean. (Though really this is true for literally any rune.)
The best advice I can ever give anyone is to always do what you feel is right. If you find yourself wondering, âShould I do this? Is this right?â If you question yourself at all, you should probably not to the thing and go with something else.
Itâs also important to mention that the names I have for the runes may not be the ones that youâve learned to know them by; a lot of runes can go by different names depending on who you ask and where you look. Do your research, and know the runes by the names you feel are best! (And preferably historically accurate.)
As always, if you have any questions regarding runes and how to read them, please ask me! My ask box is literally always open and almost always empty.
i store all the witchy things i find here
