you knew you were being quite immature.
yeah, it was just a small altercation with wonwoo over some small thing, but that had just been what it snowballed into.
it had only been a few days since wonwoo got back from tour, having been gone for a few weeks with limited contact with you due to timezones and his packed schedule. you understood. you were no newbie at this. by now it had been a while since you had began dating wonwoo, so you were already an expert on the ins and outs of dating an idol. however, you still demanded some type of attention.
when wonwoo finally arrived, you had expected that maybe he'd try a little harder to spend time with you. while you understood that he was likely very tired from touring, seeing the way in which he isolated himself rather than dedicate at least a bit of his free time to you did hurt your feelings.
had he not missed you as much as you did him?
this led to a one-sided silent treatment. he, of course, didn't really notice as the two of you weren't spending much time together anyways. though you were still on speaking terms with him, you were very curt and short in your interactions. something which he, yet again, had no reaction to.
which is what led to an embarrassing argument just a few hours ago. at the company. in front of his members.
it wasn't anything too big. it was mostly complaints about his terrible time management when it cane to sustaining your relationship. already hurt and having made the mistake of not communicating your issues to your boyfriend, you snapped when you stopped by the company to get lunch with him, only to be told he already had plans with his members.
after an embarrassing rant in front of half of seventeen, you stormed out, leaving a very confused wonwoo behind and finally allowing him to realize that he had unknowingly iced you out.
it felt like shit, to be quite honest. you felt invisible to him. was picking a fight the only way to get him to react?
things weren't always like this. wonwoo had always been the most comforting person you'd known. maybe he was a little reserved and shy at times, but he was always showing you his unconditional love. whether it was through his words or through silent acts of affection, he had never made you feel unwanted or ignored.
even when he'd return from a tiring tour, he'd isolate himself with you. you'd lock yourselves away from the world and simply exist with one another, encompassing each other in the love you shared. this time around, wonwoo had somehow forgotten about you, simply sharing a living space with you rather than being your home.
the worst thing was that he was entirely unaware. the moment you confronted him, you could see the shock in his eyes. wonwoo hadn't even realized he had been withholding himself from you emotionally. the more frustrated your voice grew as you ranted, the more his confusion transformed into hurt. he was hurt at the realization that you'd been hurting because of him – all while he thought everything was fine.
this made you feel miserable as soon as you made your way out of the company. fully aware that you should've communicated your distress to him earlier, you still left, embarrassed at the scene you caused and hurt that he hadn't considered your feelings until you shoved them in his face.
was it so wrong of you to have wanted him to realize on his own? you thought he knew you better than anyone, so it shouldn't have been too difficult a task to realize. right?
and now you were alone.
upon leaving the scene, teary eyed and embarrassed that you had shown such a vulnerable part of yourself in such a public setting, – in front of some of his friends, at that – you went to the place that brought you most comfort. you needed silence, so you went to a secluded library in town.
you and wonwoo would sometimes frequent this place. as both a bookworm and the girlfriend of a popular idol, this was one of the only places you could really go with wonwoo. it was secluded and quiet, meaning that you could simply exist around each other while not being perceived by anyone else. the memory of your times together there made you feel unable to concentrate, so you simply sat in silence for a while.
it wasn't too difficult for wonwoo to find you there. he had assumed you wouldn't just go back home, so he searched from you in places he knew you loved. this had been his second guess, right after the han river, where you would sometimes walk together at night.
sitting in your usual spot, wonwoo quietly approached you, sitting next to you. neither of you said anything. the first contact between you two came in the form of wonwoo's pinky seeking your own, twisting it with yours in a sweet manner. there was no way for you to deny him, so you humored him, eventually holding his hand as his fingers graced your own.
"im sorry," he whispered, looking down at his lap.
"yeah?", you whispered back.
"i take you for granted sometimes. you wait for me here and you put up with my hectic life and i ... i forget that i should reassure you of my love. im so sure of how i feel about you that i forget to let you know every single day. it wont happen again," he finished, eyes now boring into yours.
"can you say it?"
"i love you. you'll never have to ask me again. okay? i love you."
"i love you too."
"let me take you home?" he asked, leaning into you as you sat side by side.
"yeah."
ONLY LOVE CAN HURT LIKE THIS ! — Lee Minho
pairing: bsf!Leeknow x fem!reader
genre: unrequited love, angst, literally straight up sadness
warning(s): mentions of insomnia, mentions of past poor eating habits, hurt, one sided/unrequited love, mentions of vomit, comparing yourself to other people(?). i think i that’s it, let me know if i should add anything else!
You didn’t know what you were expecting when you never confessed to Lee Minho, but it definitely wasn’t that he was going to magically confess to you. He was your best friend, confessing to him would mean risking ruining 12 years of friendship. Sure, you weren’t expecting him to be single but to hide his relationship from you and then announce his engagement was shocking to say the least. Especially since you were hopelessly in love with him.
You first fell for him when you were 15. You were humiliated in front of the whole school by someone who you thought was your friend. Minho rushed to your house and comforted you, spilling reassuring words and affirmations as you sobbed in his arms. His caring nature was something to not overlook. As much as he tried not showing it, he truly did care for the people he was close to.
Yet here you were, 23 years old and still in love with the man you once thought would be yours. But not everyone can have what they do wish for, right?
The night he had announced his engagement, he glanced at you with guilty eyes as your friends glanced at you with pity. They knew you loved Minho. He was the reason you never dated anyone. Minho wasn’t the best person to date in High school. As most people would have described, he kissed a lot of girls. Under the bleachers, at bus stops, at his house. Anywhere really. He was a player. And you were to watch from a distance with a pit in your stomach and tear-filled eyes.
You would sob for days knowing you couldn’t have him. Knowing your place in his life was to be his best friend and nothing more. You were there to witness everything he went through, his achievements, his worst moments, etcetera. You were there when he talked to you about his first time, when he had his first girlfriend, when he broke up with said girlfriend. And all you could do was smile and play the role of the good best friend you were.
So now you were here, at his wedding, standing behind his bride as they exchanged vows. You tried to contain the tears that were threatening to fall. Eyes landing on your dear friend Chan who gave you a sad smile.
You knew it was selfish of you to hope that he would somehow call the wedding off, or that she would, in fact. You knew you had to be happy for him, but you just couldn’t. I mean how could you, seriously? You had been in love with him for 8 years, but you never said it though. You were a coward. You still are one.
As you heard the words “You may now kiss the bride”, that’s when your entire world finally collapsed, and you were finally brought to reality. Lee Minho wasn’t yours and he was never going to be. You stood there with a smile as you clapped, hoping you didn’t look upset at all.
When the party had started, you excused yourself and headed to the restroom. You found an empty stall and crouched down, finally letting the tears you were holding in for hours spill. This time Minho wasn’t there to comfort you like he always would. He was out there with his wife. You were alone, with no comfort whatsoever.
You tried to muffle your sobs, but you were sure it was audible for the people outside the restroom. After what seemed like forever, you walk out of the stall and look in the mirror, noticing how your once perfect makeup was now smudged and your eyes were puffy and bloodshot.
You washed your face, getting rid of the excess of makeup and walked out of the bathroom, body crashing into the one and only LeeKnow.
“Y/N hey! — hey…hey what’s wrong are you okay?” His voice softened as he looked down at you, noticing your puffy eyes. His hands going to cup your cheeks until you backed away.
“Y-Yes, I’m all right. Just feeling a little sick you know. I think I might head home right now.” You noticed the ways his eyes held a sad emotion in them, he sighed and gave you a slight sad smile.
“Hope you feel all better Y/n. I’ll pack you some of the snacks at the table so you can take some home to eat later—”
“No! I- I mean, no, it’s fine. I think if I eat anything I might vomit you know. Anyways I have to go now, congratulations again.”
With that, you quickly left. Not bothering to look back knowing you would burst into tears once again. You go back to the party and grab your bag, bidding goodbye to the bride after explaining you had to go. As you were walking towards the parking lot, you heard your name being called making you stop in your steps and turn around.
Chan.
“Are you okay? Actually, don’t even answer that, obviously you’re not. I’ll take you home.” He states as he places an arm on your lower back, guiding you to his car. You sit on the passenger sit and immediately burst into tears again as Chan closes the door to his car.
“I- It hurts. It hurts so bad Chris!” You sobbed; your body engulfed by Chan as he wraps you in comforting arms. He places his palm on the back of your head and spills reassuring and comforting words. Your mind taking you back to that day LeeKnow comforted you when you were 15, eight years ago. The day you first fell for him.
“Chris, I suffered so much because of him! I- I know it isn’t his fault and I know I’m being selfish right now, but I love him. I always loved him. There were days in the past where I couldn’t get an ounce of sleep for months because of him. All I kept thinking about was him and how I would only be the best friend in his life. I stopped eating little by little because I noticed how he usually went for the girls that were really skinny and slim. I was so hurt Chris. I’m so tired. I want it to stop.” You cried, sore voice cracking in the process.
“Shh, Y/n. Listen to me. Everything is going to be okay; you have me. I’ll be by your side. I know life is kicking your ass right now, but I promise you, you hear me. I promise you everything will be okay in the end. You’ll find someone better, someone who will cherish you and love you. Trust me on it, sweetheart.”
His voice calms you down, your rapid breaths finally slowing down. Your teary eyes looking up at him as you whisper a ‘thank you’, your voice too sore for you to talk.
“No problem, that’s what I’m here for. What I will always be here for.”

“How are you feeling today?” Minho asks you, sitting beside you on the couch that you've been sleeping on for the past week. He had offered you his bed, and he'd sleep on the couch but he was already doing so much in letting you stay with him, you couldn't put him out of his bed as well.
“I'm okay.” You breathe, smiling at him. “I really can't thank you enough for all your help and support over this past week. I don't know what I would have done… I still don't even want to look at him.”
“I just can't believe it…still that he would do that to you. It's so completely out of character for Jeongin to cheat. He would boast about how absolutely in love with you he was. It just doesn't make sense.” Minho says, noticing that today is the first day you didn't wake up crying.
“I guess you really can't trust anyone. I just wish he would stop calling me.” You groan, looking at the multiple missed calls and texts from him.
“Maybe that's what you need…I mean to talk to him.” Minho suggests. “Just hear him out, get closure and move on.” He says, shrugging his shoulders.
You did feel like you had questions that you needed answered, so maybe it wouldn't hurt for you to sit down and talk to him. However, you still had the question of if he would tell you the truth or not, and frankly you didn't have much faith in him that he would. You wished you were never in this situation, you wished you never would have said yes to the threesome because if you hadn't, maybe he wouldn't have felt the need to sleep with Chae afterwards and maybe the two of you would still be happy.
Maybe.
Your phone rings as Minho stands up, walking to the kitchen. Jeongin again. You take a few deep breaths, answering the phone with your most unimpressed voice.
“Hello?”
“Y/N.” Jeongin gasps. “Why haven't you been answering me? I've been worried sick.”
“Are you serious? Why would I ever want to talk to you?” You snap. “You're lucky I even answered right now.”
“Where are you? Are you okay?” He sniffles, you can hear his voice crack slightly, he sounds distraught. If only it hadn't been his own doing.
“I'm fine. I've been staying with a friend.” You say. You weren't about to tell him where, the last thing you wanted or needed was for him to show up whenever he felt like it.
“Can we please talk… this was the biggest mistake I've ever made, please Y/N.” He breathes. You can hear his voice quiver as he tries to hold back from crying.
“I'll come over. Just to hear you out.” You sigh.
“No!” He yells. “I mean, let's meet for coffee.” He says.
That was weird.
“Fine. Meet me in half an hour. At the shop we used to go too.” You say, hanging up the phone.
You got up off the couch, heading to the bathroom to start getting ready.
Not long later, you sat at a table, your iced coffee in hand as you watched people pass by the shop, Jeongin still not there. You glance at your phone, deciding to only wait another 10 minutes and if he didn't show up, then you weren't going to wait around any longer.
“Y/N.” You hear. You knew it was Jeongin, even when he sounded out of breath you knew his voice. You look up at the sweaty, red faced man walking towards the table.
“You're late.” You say, taking a sip of your coffee.
“I know I'm sorry, I got tied up.” He mutters, sliding into the chair across from you.
“Okay. So, say what you need to say.” You tell him, crossing your arms. You watch him struggle to find the right words that he wants to begin with. He knows he's already off to a bad start for keeping you waiting.
“I never imagined myself doing this to you, or anyone. I'm not the type to cheat, Y/N. You know that.” He says.
“Yeah I thought I knew that. Turns out I didn't know shit.” You snap.
“I don't know what happened…” He murmurs.
“Neither do I. Were you unhappy with us?” You ask.
“No! Not at all.” He says.
“Did you fall out of love with me?”
“No! How could I?”
“Did she drug you or force you into fucking her?” You ask.
“No she didn't.” He whispers.
“Well then I have no fucking clue.” You say. “What reason could there possibly be for you to do that?”
“I don't have one. And I'm not about to come up with some lame ass excuse for it. But I love you and I need you. Please give me another chance. Please.” He begs.
“I don't know… I really don't think I can ever trust you again.” You whisper. “You broke my trust… you broke me.”
“And I will spend the rest of my life trying to make it up to you. If you'll just give me one chance. Please. I miss you so much.”
If you were being honest, you missed him. You did still love him, for some reason. But you weren't sure if this was something you could ever get over. How could you trust him around anyone again? Maybe you could learn… You weren't sure.
“I want to agree. But I just don't know…” you trail off. “It's scary to think about letting you back in after that.”
“I will never do anything to make you not trust me again.” Jeongin tells you. He looks so pitiful, it almost broke your heart more to see him like this.
“I…” you pause, your phone dinging from a message. You open the text, from Chae, and tears immediately well up in your eyes. You look up at Jeongin as a tear slips down your cheek.
“So much for not lying anymore.” You sniffle. “Is it true?”
“What?” He asks, looking confused. “Is what true?”
“She's pregnant.” You murmur.
“Fuck sakes. I told her not to tell you.” He snaps. You look at him wide-eyed. “You knew?”
“That's why I was late.” He groans, letting his head fall into his hands.
“So you're here begging for me to take you back, when you knew she's knocked up with your kid? What the fuck, Jeongin.” You scream.
“it doesn't matter!” He yells. “I don't want anything else to do with her!”
“She's growing your baby!” You yell, your phone ringing again. “and apparently you've also moved her into the apartment.” You laugh.
Wow, this was all hilarious.
“Fuck you. Fuck you both.” You snap, abruptly standing up, knocking your chair back, heading towards the door.
“Wait!” He yells. “I know you don't owe me anything, but grammie…” He stutters.
Grammie? You loved his grandma so much, and you swore you were her favorite too.
“What about grammie?” You ask, turning around, trying to control your tears.
“She's…sick. She's been asking to see you… to see us. Please just go out to the lake house with me, pretend we're happy. It's one of her last…wishes to see… you.” He whispers.
You weren't heartless. You couldn't deny her, her dying wish. “When?” You ask.
“We'll leave tomorrow.” He says.
“Fine.” You sniffle. “After that, I don't want to hear from you again.”
The next morning, you're awake and packed, dreading spending an entire 4 days with Jeongin at his family's home. You loved his family, but him, you'd never actively hated someone so much.
“Morning.” Jeongin smiles as you climb into his car, setting your bag down at your feet.
“Hi.” You whisper.
“So you've been staying with Minho.” He says, beginning the few hour drive to the house on the lake.
“Yeah I have. He's been a really good friend to me.” You say, staring out the window.
“Are you guys fucking?” He asks. You whip your head around to glare at him. He grips the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white.
“No. But even if I was, I don't see how that's any of your goddamn business.” You snap.
“I just don't want you to move on.” He admits.
“I'm going to move on. Because there's nothing for us now. You're with Chae now. I hope you two have a long and miserable life.” You smile.
“But we're not together.” He says. “She only moved in because she's pregnant. I don't want her.”
“You sure wanted her when I came home to her riding you.”
“When are you gonna let this go?” He sighs.
“You act like this happened years ago and I keep bringing it up. It was not very long ago. It's fresh.” You say. “I won't let it go ever.”
The rest of the drive is spent listening to the radio, you didn't want to talk to him anymore. You would have much rather been in complete and total silence than utter one more word to him.
A few hours later, Jeongin pulls up the driveway of the lake house, and it brings up so many memories of times you spent with his family here in the summers, winters, and the fall. It makes you sad that things have come to this now but you were determined to make good memories this weekend, for grammie. You would put aside your issues with Jeongin, only for her.
“Y/N! Darling.” His mom yells, rushing out the front door to greet you. You smile widely as you get out of the car, wrapping your arms around her as she holds you closely.
“Hi mom.” Jeongin says.
“Yeah, yeah, hi.” she murmurs, holding you a little tighter. “How are you my darling?” She asks, wrapping her arm around your shoulder, bringing you towards the door.
“I'm good… but my bag.” You laugh.
“Jeongin grab her bag.” His mom yells, ushering you inside. “I made you snacks.” She giggles, bringing you to the kitchen.
“Oh my favorite! Thank you!” You smile, happily sitting down to eat.
The two of you chat for a few minutes before Jeongin comes in with the bags, huffing as he sets them down, coming to sit at the counter with you.
“Where's grammie?” You ask, glancing around.
“She's just resting. I'm sure she'll be up soon. She'll be so happy to see you!”
“What about me?” Jeongin asks, grabbing a few snacks.
“Yes, I'm sure she'll also be happy to see you.” His mom laughs.
“I'm always so left out when we come here.” He mutters, eating some more snacks.
“I'm just so glad you brought my Y/N back out to see me.” His mom smiles, grabbing your hand.
“Is that… is that my favorite girl?” You hear from behind you. You turn around to see grammie walking towards you, looking better than the last time you saw her.
“Grammie!” You grin. You walk over to her, gently wrapping your arms around her. “You look great.”
“I feel great!” She laughs, rubbing your back. She lets go of you, holding your hand as you both go back to the counter. She eats some snacks, tells you stories and laughs so hard, she doesn't look sick at all. You look at Jeongin, who avoids any eye contact with you.
“I'm going to run to the bathroom.” You smile, walking out of the room, Jeongin still not acknowledging you.
On your way back, you stop just before the kitchen, listening to the conversation. “Yeah we're really happy. I'm going to propose.” He tells them.
“You should do it on the hike tomorrow!” Grammie suggests.
You walk in, clearing your throat. “Hike? Grammie, are you sure you should be hiking?” You ask.
“Why wouldn't I? I've never been so healthy in my life.” She laughs.
“You're not sick?” You ask.
“No my darling, I'm the epitome of health.”
“Jeongin. Can I talk to you? In private.” You smile, heading towards the room the two of you always share.
He hesitantly follows you to the bedroom, closing the door behind him. He stands in front of you, his head hanging low.
“What the fuck is going on?” You snap.
“I thought that maybe if I brought you out here to see them you'd remember how much you loved me, and them, and you wouldn't leave.” He whispers. “I knew you wouldn't come unless there was a reason.”
“You're damn right I wouldn't have. And I stupidly came out here with you. I'm not staying.” You snap.
“How? How are you going to leave?” He asks.
You pull out your phone, dialing Minho’s number. “Hey, you okay?” He answers.
“No, I'm not. He lied to me. Please… can you come get me?”
“I'm on my way. Hang tight.” He says, hanging up the phone.
“Really?” Jeongin scoffs. “Minho?”
“Yeah really. I can't actually trust him. Don't talk to me anymore. Any chance we had at rekindling is completely gone.” You snap, leaving the room with your bag.
“What's wrong, darling? Are you not staying?” Grammie asks.
“I'm sorry you guys… I can't. Jeongin, care to explain or should I?” You ask.
He doesn't say anything.
“Jeongin cheated on me.” You say. “And I caught them. And then, when I told him I was done he told me grammie was sick and it was her last wish to see me.” You tell them.
They both look appalled, looking at Jeongin.
“Oh and the best part? She's pregnant. however she is known to get around, so whether or not it's Jeongin's is a whole other story.`` You laugh.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” Grammie yells at Jeongin, smacking him upside the head.
You're on the verge of tears, you need air. You grabbed your bag, sitting outside while you waited for Minho to show up.
A little while later, Minho pulls into the driveway, and just before you begin walking towards the car, Jeongin’s mom comes out of the house after her and Grammie yelled at Jeongin the whole time.
“My darling girl.” She sighs, hugging you tightly. “I'm so very sorry.” She whispers. “If you don't want to forgive him, I don't blame you. But please, call me whenever, for whatever, or visit. Anything. We love you.”
“Thank you.” You sniffle. “I love you guys too.”
She lets go of you, waving to Minho before she heads back inside and yells at Jeongin some more.
“Hey.” Minho smiles as you get into the car. “What happened?”
“He lied. Grammie is fine. She's not sick at all.” You sigh. “I'm so tired of being lied to. Everything is just shit.”
Minho chuckles. “I'm sorry he lied. But everything is going to be fine.”
The last time you were told everything was going to be fine, it wasn't. Surely this time, though, everything would actually be fine?
Chan | Minho | Changbin | Hyunjin | Jisung | Seungmin | Jeongin | Part 1
You feel your blood boil as you force the door open, a scowl on your face as you glare at Felix. He stood there tears streaming down his cheeks as his eyes widened in surprise. "Love...." He sighs as he wraps his arms around your waist. His head rests on your shoulder as he inhales your scent. The smell of his best friend, Sooji's perfume still all over him. The entire night was an epic fail.
What was supposed to be a fun night at the fair, became a nightmare. Let alone your boyfriend forgetting the purpose of the date in the first place. You couldn't understand how he could be so amazing but the second Sooji came around, he dropped everything for her. How could you get over this? You felt you could deal with a third wheel on your anniversary date. Felix works a lot he doesn't have much time to hang out with you often let alone his best friend. But you couldn't stand that you became the third wheel for a night you were paying for in the first place. You felt stupid, you paid for her tickets, meals, and prizes. You spoiled your now ex-boyfriend's side chick. Like an idiot. and he had the nerve to show up only minutes after you arrived home? He had the nerve to act like what they did wasn't wrong and touch you?
"Get off of me" You grit as you shove him slightly. You hear Felix whimper as his grip tightens. You can feel his head shake a resounding no. "Now. Lee Yongbok" You growl. Felix begins sobbing harshly into your shoulder. "No! Please! please...I'll do anything! Please don't make me let you go. Please don't make me leave....." He pleads. His body trembles as he continues to sob and beg.
"Do you even know what you did?"
He stares at you dumbfounded. "I-I.....uhm...I-I...." He stammers as he pulls away slightly. You use the opportunity to free yourself from his grasp and close the door behind you. "Felix, you love Sooji. You should be with her...." You state with a sad sigh. He shakes his head in denial "N-No! No that's not true. I'm sorry if I made you believe that but I swear, it's not true. I love you. Y/F/N. That's who I love. that's who I want to be with. I'm so fucking sorry but please...please believe me. i just made a mistake. I should have realized today was important and that she shouldn't have come—You think that's the problem?" You cut him off. "You think I care more that Sooji came and not the fact that you made me bankroll your little date with Sooji on our anniversary? You think her presence was the problem and not the fact that you treat her more like your girlfriend when she's around and if you don't she throws a fucking fit?"
"I-I don't know what to say....I-I didn't realize—of course you didn't. you only care about how Sooji feels. You only care about Sooji" You cut him off again "Please leave. go be with her I'm tired of being your second choice."
"You're not! stop saying that I like Sooji; I don't. I love you, I pity Sooji. Thats all! i don't want to be with her. Im sorry, I'm so fucking sorry. I shouldn't have behaved like that with her. I'm sorry I made you misunderstand me but please know that the only person I want to be with is you. I'll do anything to fix this please let me fix this....." He argues, his voice cracking as he finishes his plea. He stares at you with a fear-stricken expression when you don't say anything. His hand holds yours as he sniffles. "It's my fault. I should have been better, you can be mad at me as long as you want. I-if you want to hit me that's okay.....just please, please give me a chance to fix this. I won't talk to her ever again. I won't make you uncomfortable with any more friendships. Please give me a chance...."
"I don't know, Felix....."
"I can make this up to you. you know I can. please just let me come in and we can talk. That's all I want is to talk, please..."
“What do you want me to do, Felix? Pretend I didn’t come out of the bathroom and see you guys all over each other? Pretend you didn’t show more interest in her than me? Pretend that you don't really want to be with me?”
“Stop fucking saying that!” He growls angrily as his palm slams into your door frame forcefully. His face was red as rage boiled over in his stomach "Sooji is someone I fucking pity. I feel bad for her because she was abandoned by her family. I felt like I'd be an asshole if I just ditched her too but I don't feel shit for her. I love you just fucking listen to me for once! Yes, I fucked up. but she doesn't mean what you do. She's not close to your level in my eyes so fucking stop" He growls. You flinch as he raises his voice. For a moment, he was almost unrecognizable. You had heard that he could be temperamental on occasion but you had never witnessed his anger firsthand. You look toward your neighbor's house. His hand caresses your cheek. "Look at me...." He urges, and you shake your head "You really hurt me...."
"I'll spend every day making it up to you."
"I can't trust you..."
"You can....but I-I understand why you feel like you can't. But Y/N please know, I would never do anything like this again. If my friendship with Sooji makes you uncomfortable then I won't be friends with her anymore. I won't talk to her or see her anymore....." He stammers nervously, his voice trembling slightly with fear. "I'm not the type of person to dictate your friendships, Felix. and I don't want to be with someone who doesn't know how to draw a line or notice when someone is being too much. Like if I had a guy friend that treated me the way you treat Sooji. Would that make you feel comfortable? Would you have faith in our relationship after catching me in the situation I caught you in tonight?" You question softly, nervous about his answer. You finally turn to look at him and notice the way his jaw is clenched. His free hand balled into a fist at his side, eyes closed as his anger and jealousy were painted on his expression.
"T-That's different...."
"Why? because its me? " You snide.
"No! Because I didn't even realize how it looked until now. I thought I was just being a supportive friend! I didn't mean for it to look like anything inappropriate was going on. I don't like her like that, I love you. I want to be with you. If you're so sure I don't love you then why am I here?" He argues. He steps closer to you. your chests now pressed together, as he leans in closer his lips brushing over yours. "Why am I here fighting you on this?" He whispers. You stare into his eyes feeling his sincerity. "I-I—Because—" He cut you off with a passionate kiss before you could argue. You stand frozen for a moment before your arms wrap around his neck and your lips move against his. "I love you" he whispers infatuatedly as his lips continue to move against yours. His hands gripping your waist as he pulls you closer to him. Your cheeks are a bright scarlet as he repeats the phrase over and over as he presses your back against your front door. "I'm so sorry for hurting you, My love." He kisses you softly again. "I'll make it up to you I promise. please forgive me?"
You pull away, your breath heavy and your lips swollen. Felix stared at you like a kicked puppy as you made space between you. "I'm not gonna let you off this easy....." you mumble "You better work your ass off to make this up to me..." You cross your arms, and a bright smile forms on Felix's lips as he pulls you into a bone-crushing hug. "Thank you! You won't regret this I swear! I promise you, I'll make this up to you." He smiles as he rests his forehead on yours. "Starting tonight!" He states excitedly as he pulls away slightly, lifts you over his shoulder, and playfully rushes into the house as you laugh at his antics.

a/n: loving me some angst right now... just in my feels
“Do you still love me?” Oh that question’s bound to start an argument but you had to know. Things changed a while ago and it’s been killing you to confront him about it.
“…No. I mean yes. I do. I still love you. I swear it on my word.”
You scoffed. “No? Well that explains your evasive behavior around me. Are you seeing another girl? Is that what prompted this ‘no’?” Your face hardened as you spoke, afraid that if you let emotion show, it’d ruin you.
“I didn’t- I didn’t mean to! She meant nothing! It was a mistake. I love you. I swear.” He dropped to his knees, pleading for your forgiveness. Tears begged to fall down your face. “Please. Let me make this right.”
“There’s nothing you can do. If she meant nothing… then this- this meant nothing.” You turned away from him, wiping the tears that rolled down your cheeks.
“You know what? It is nothing. You needed me because you can’t do anything without someone to lean on. I hate being your caretaker. Unlike you, she was there for me, with me. You closed yourself off to me and you’d only talk to me when you needed something.”
You grit your teeth. “I needed time. You never gave me the time.” Tears streamed down your face.
“I regret everything. All of it. You, me, what we did… It was a waste of time. Years of my life, wasted,” You stepped back, in utter shock. A broken sob slipped through your lips as you left to pack your things.
As you approached the door, you looked at the man you once loved. “I loved you in this lifetime. I won’t make that same mistake in the next.”

As the nurse administers the anesthesia, you squeeze the hand your holding tightly, drawing strength from their steady grip. You feel a cool sensation spreading through your veins as the anesthesia takes effect, gradually enveloping you in a blanket of warmth and tranquility.
A wave of anxiety washes over you, but it feels distant, muffled by the encroaching haze of unconsciousness. Your palms grow clammy, and your breath comes in short, shallow gasps. He reaches out, His touch is barely perceptible, a faint brush against your cheek. His whispered words of encouragement are like echoes from a far-off place, reaching you through layers of fog.
"Hey, you've got this," he murmurs softly, his voice fading into the recesses of your mind. "I know you're scared, but you're the bravest person I know. I'll be right here when you wake up, holding your hand okay?" His words cling to your consciousness like a passing dream.
With one final breath, you faintly hear the words "I love you" as you close your eyes, letting go of your fears and surrendering to the gentle embrace of unconsciousness.
-
As consciousness slowly returns, you find yourself floating in a hazy fog, your senses dulled by the lingering effects of anesthesia. Your eyelids flutter open, revealing a dimly lit room swirling with shadows and blurred shapes.
Confusion washes over you as you struggle to make sense of your surroundings. The faces that hover at the edge of your vision are unfamiliar, their features distorted and indistinct.
Panic begins to rise within you, a knot of fear tightening in your chest as you search desperately for something familiar, something to anchor you. Your heart races in your chest, each beat echoing in your ears as panic tightens its grip around your throat.
You try to push through the fog, to grasp onto fleeting fragments of memory that slip through your fingers like grains of sand. But the harder you try, the more elusive they become, slipping further and further beyond your reach.
Desperation claws at the edges of your consciousness, urging you to flee, to escape this nightmare world of shadows and uncertainty. But where can you run when you don't even know where you are?
And then, amidst the chaos of your mind, a voice breaks through the fog, a soft whisper that cuts through the darkness like a beacon of light.
"Hey there, sleepyhead," his voice trembles slightly, gentle yet filled with love. "It's me, Jisung. Do you remember?" he asks softly, his tone laced with a mixture of hope and fear.
"Who are you?" you manage to croak, your voice trembling with confusion and fear. The name 'Jisung' means nothing to you in this moment of disorientation.
A flicker of sadness passes through Jisung's eyes, but he quickly masks it with a reassuring smile, though it doesn't quite reach his eyes. "I'm Jisung," he repeats gently, his voice tender yet tinged with a hint of disappointment. "Your boyfriend. We've been together for a few years now."
You blink, trying to process his words, but the fog in your mind refuses to dissipate. "I'm sorry," you whisper, your heart heavy with guilt. "I don't remember."
Jisung's expression softens, sadness passing through his eyes once again , but he remains silent, his concern evident in the gentle squeeze of your hand. As you slowly regain awareness, you find yourself in a dimly lit room, the faint scent of antiseptic lingering in the air.
Your gaze sweeps the unfamiliar surroundings, confusion clouding your thoughts. "Where am I?" you murmur, your voice tinged with uncertainty.
"In the hospital," Jisung replies, his tone gentle yet urgent, his words a beacon of reassurance amidst the fog of confusion. "You had your wisdom teeth removed, but you're all done now. Everything's going to be okay," he adds, his voice laced with a desperate plea for recognition, his eyes searching yours for any sign of comprehension.
"Maybe going for a walk might jog your memory," the nurse suggests as she walks into the room, her voice a gentle interruption in the stillness.
You try to sit up, only to realize you're cocooned in warmth, covered in two blankets and a coat. "What's all this?" you say, puzzled by the unexpected comfort.
"You got cold, and I didn't know what to do. I couldn't see you tremble, so I tried to cover you as much as possible," Jisung explains, a slight tremor in his voice betraying his concern as he gestures to his coat draped over you.
With the help of Jisung and the nurse, you slowly stand and begin to shuffle around the hospital corridors, the steady rhythm of your footsteps echoing in the quiet hallway. As you move, the motion seems to stir something within you, coaxing snippets of memories to resurface from the depths of your mind. With each step, the fog of confusion begins to lift, replaced by a growing sense of clarity.
And then, like a dam breaking, the first clear memory floods back, washing over you in a rush of recognition.
You pause mid-step, a look of realization dawning on your face.
"BBama," you murmur, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "I remember BBama."
Jisung's expression changes, a mix of surprise and mild disappointment crossing his features before he quickly masks it with a forced smile. "Yeah, BBama," he replies, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness. "He's a good boy."
You sense a shift in his demeanor, a subtle tension in the way he grips your hand a little tighter. Guilt washes over you as you realize the impact of your words, the inadvertent reminder of your forgotten memories hitting Jisung harder than you expected.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, reaching out to touch his arm in a silent gesture of apology. "I didn't mean to—"
But before you can finish, Jisung shakes his head, his forced smile softening into a genuine one. "It's okay," he reassures, his voice gentle yet tinged with a hint of sadness. "It's just... funny how memories work sometimes."
As you walk, Jisung's disappointment hangs heavy in the air, his silence speaking volumes as you navigate the hospital corridors together. You can feel the weight of his unspoken thoughts, a palpable tension in the way he holds himself.
Guilt gnaws at your insides as you realize the depth of his disappointment, the fear that perhaps you'll never fully remember the moments you've shared together. You want to reach out, to erase the hurt etched into the lines of his face, but words fail you in the face of such uncertainty.
Lost in thought, you suddenly remember a fleeting moment, a snapshot of a memory that cuts through the fog.
"The ferris wheel," you say, a smile playing at the corners of your lips as you recount the memory that has surfaced in your mind. "It was a sunny afternoon, and we went to the carnival. We got on rides, and we laughed and talked for hours."
Jisung's eyes light up with recognition, a spark of joy dancing in their depths as the memory comes flooding back to him. "I remember that day," he says softly, his voice filled with warmth and affection. "It was one of the best days of my life."
"You were afraid of heights and got scared at the top of the wheel. I kissed you to calm your nerves," you recall, a blush tinting your cheeks as you relive the tender moment. "And in that moment, everything felt... perfect," you add, your heart fluttering at the memory of Jisung's comforting embrace.
Jisung's gaze softens, his eyes shining with love and longing as he reaches out to cup your cheek, his touch sending shivers down your spine. "It was perfect," he agrees, his voice barely above a whisper, his thumb brushing gently against your skin.
After spending some time reminiscing in the hospital corridors, Jisung helps you gather your belongings and leads you out of the hospital. He takes your hand gently, guiding you with careful steps as you navigate through the corridors and out into the crisp evening air.
As you step outside, you're greeted by the cool breeze, a welcome relief after the sterile confines of the hospital. Jisung flags down a taxi and helps you into the backseat, ensuring you're comfortable before climbing in beside you.
During the ride home, you lean against Jisung's shoulder, the events of the day catching up with you as exhaustion washes over you. Jisung wraps his arm around you protectively, offering silent comfort as the taxi makes its way through the city streets.
When you arrive home, Jisung helps you out of the taxi and supports you as you make your way inside. Once indoors, he settles you onto the couch, fluffing up pillows to make you comfortable.
"Minho hyung dropped off some soup for us. Let me serve you some," he says softly, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before disappearing into the kitchen.
As you sink into the cushions, the sharp ache in your jaw intensifies, signaling to your senses that the anesthesia is wearing off. Every movement sends a jolt of agony through your body, and you clench your teeth to stifle a cry of pain.
Your eyes brim with tears. Talking feels like shards of glass scraping against your raw gums, and even breathing seems to exacerbate the throbbing ache in your jaw.
With Jisung in the kitchen, you try to compose yourself, not wanting to alarm him. You take slow, shallow breaths, trying to find a way to cope with the overwhelming pain that courses through your body.
But despite your best efforts, silent tears slip down your cheeks, betraying the torment you're enduring. You press a hand to your mouth, muffling the sobs that threaten to escape, not wanting to disturb Jisung as he prepares soup to ease your discomfort.
Minutes feel like hours as you wait for Jisung to return, each second punctuated by sharp pangs of agony that seem to intensify with every passing moment.
Finally, you hear the soft shuffle of footsteps as Jisung reenters the living room, a tray of steaming soup in his hands. He pauses as he sees you, his eyes widening in alarm at the sight of your tear-streaked face.
"Hey, what's wrong?" he asks, his voice filled with concern as he rushes to your side, setting the tray down on the coffee table before gathering you into his arms.
You cling to him desperately, unable to hold back the flood of tears any longer. "It hurts," you manage to choke out between sobs, the words barely audible as you bury your face against his chest.
Jisung holds you close, his heart breaking at the sight of your pain. "I'm so sorry," he whispers, pressing a tender kiss to the top of your head. "I'll make it better, I promise."
You cling to him desperately, your tears soaking into his shirt as you surrender to the overwhelming tide of agony. Each sob racks your body, a symphony of suffering that echoes through the silent night.
"I'm so sorry," he murmurs, his voice thick with emotion as he presses another kiss to the top of your head. "I wish I could take away your pain."
As Jisung holds you, he whispers soft words of comfort, his voice a soothing melody in the midst of your suffering. You feel a flicker of relief in his arms, a fleeting respite from the relentless ache that grips your body.
Eventually, Jisung guides you to sit up, his hands gentle as he helps you into a more comfortable position on the couch. He retrieves the tray of soup he prepared earlier and sits beside you, offering you the spoon with a tender smile.
You try to eat, but the pain makes even the simplest of tasks feel like an immense effort. Each attempt to swallow is met with searing agony, and you can't help but feel a sense of incompetence wash over you.
"I'm sorry," you whisper, tears welling up in your eyes as you struggle to eat. "I can't do this."
Jisung's heart breaks at the sight of your distress, but he remains steadfast in his support. "It's okay, love," he murmurs softly, his voice a soothing balm as he takes the spoon from your hand and gently feeds you, " Let me help you."
With each spoonful of soup, Jisung's movements are deliberate and gentle, his fingers cradling the spoon as if it were the most precious thing in the world. He watches you intently, his gaze soft and reassuring as he anticipates your needs.
As the warm broth passes your lips, you can feel the tenderness of his touch, his fingers brushing against your skin with a feather-light caress. It's as if he's not just feeding you soup, but pouring his love and care into every bite.
Despite the pain that still lingers in the corners of your mind, you find solace in the simple act of being cared for.
As Jisung continues to feed you spoonfuls of soup, he notices the heaviness in your expression and tries to lighten the mood. With a playful glint in his eyes, he brings the spoon closer to your mouth but then pulls it away with a mischievous smile.
"Here comes the plane!" he says, his voice filled with playful enthusiasm as he mimics the sound of an airplane soaring through the air. He moves the spoon in a swooping motion, as if it's about to land in your mouth, his expression hopeful for a glimpse of your smile.
Despite the pain and discomfort, you can't help but chuckle at his antics. His determination to bring a smile to your face melts away some of the tension, and you find yourself playing along, opening your mouth wide as if ready to accept the imaginary "airplane" spoon. Jisung grins triumphantly as he feeds you the soup.
Once you've finished eating, Jisung takes care of everything, cleaning up the kitchen and washing the dishes with meticulous attention to detail. He returns to you, draping a soft blanket over your shoulders and ensuring you're comfortable on the couch.
Then, he gathers you into his arms, holding you close as you cling to him. He wipes away your remaining tears, whispering words of love and comfort until your sobs subside.
"Shh, it's okay, my love," Jisung murmurs softly, his arms wrapped protectively around you. "You're safe. Just breathe," he whispers, his lips brushing against your forehead in a gentle kiss. "Let me kiss the pain away," he murmurs, pressing another tender kiss against your temple.
As your tears gradually subside, Jisung holds you close, his warmth enveloping you like a comforting embrace. He brushes away your tears with his thumb, his touch gentle and reassuring. "I hate seeing you in pain," he admits softly, his voice tinged with regret. "I wish I could take it all away."
You nestle closer to him, finding solace in his embrace. "It's not your fault," you reassure him, your voice muffled against his chest. "I know you'd do anything to make me feel better."
Jisung's arms tighten around you, his love evident in every gesture.
"I was so scared," he admits, his voice barely above a whisper. "When you didn't remember my name or my face," he begins, his words carrying the weight of vulnerability, "it felt like my world was falling apart. I couldn't bear the thought of losing you, of having you look at me as if I were a stranger."
Your heart aches at his confession, realizing the depth of his fears. "I could never forget you, Jisung," you assure him, lifting your head to meet his gaze. "You mean everything to me."
A soft smile tugs at Jisung's lips, his eyes reflecting the love and adoration he holds for you. "Knowing that means more to me than you'll ever know," he whispers, his voice filled with emotion. "I love you more than words can express." he whispers, pressing a tender kiss to your lips. "I'm sorry you're in pain. I'd rather it be me than you."
You lean into his touch. "You're my everything, Jisung," you whisper, your face close to his. "And I wouldn't want to go through this with anyone else by my side."
As you lean into his embrace, you feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against your chest. And as he lulls you to sleep with soft murmurs and gentle caresses, you drift off into dreams, knowing that no matter what, you'll always have Jisung there to hold you and kiss the pain away.

He hasn’t been on the night shift since your daughter was born. He liked to spend the nights with Nara when she was first born. He liked to come home to her drooling smiles and gleeful giggles after answering calls all day. He never knew what he’d get when he answered the phone. It could be something small like a cat being stuck in a tree but it rarely ever was. He was on a never ending loop of talking people down during one of their most anxious moments. Something that he hoped he would never have to do.
“Ma’am, please try to stay calm. Can you repeat your address please?” Chan was laughing with Changbin, dimples on full display until he heard his co-worker repeat the address she was given. He dropped the water bottle in his hand, immediately turning on his heels and making his way behind her to look at the screen.
“Is there anyone else in the home?” It’s his address on the screen. You on the phone. There’s someone in the house with you and his daughter. Changbin comes up behind Chan, peering at the screen with curious eyes that widen quickly. “Is your daughter with you?”
“Chan.” His friend lays a hand on his shoulder in an attempt to pull him out of his shock but it’s no use. He’s too busy trying to hear your voice over the noisy office. Too busy trying to find out if you’re okay.
“There are officers on the way ma’am just stay put okay?” Chan is tapping his co-worker before he can even process the action. She looks back at him with furrowed brows but her features soften once she realizes who it is. She knows that address, she knows it’s his.
“Give me the headset.” His voice betrays him as it wavers towards the end of the final word but the woman in front of him knew better than to question his request. She hands it over quickly and Chan puts it on with shaky hands. “Ma’am? My name is Chan and I’m going to stay with you through this, okay?”
“Chan?” He can hear the fear in your voice, the timbre shakes like glass windows in a storm and he swears that in that moment he could shatter. “Baby, please tell me it’s you. Please.”
“It’s me. I’m here.” Changbin takes it upon himself to coordinate with the call operator to track the units. He sprints through the office to his desk in hopes that his inquiry will speed up the process. In hopes that it’ll help save you. “Where’s Nara?”
“She’s in her hiding spot.” You mumble through tears, hushed sobs puffing past your trembling lips. “He has a gun, Channie.”
Chan’s eyes squeeze shut, brows furrowed as he tries his best to keep his cool. He wants to run to you, he wants to kill the guy who had the gall to break into his house. He wants to hold you and Nara and tell you that it’ll all be okay. “So do you.”
“His is bigger.” You quip, hopelessness tingeing the corners of your words. “How long until someone gets -” You’re cut off by the sound of heavy footsteps creaking against the hardwood of the main hallway.
“Baby, please talk to me. I need to know that you’re okay.” He’s squeezing the edge of the desk as he waits for you to reply but all he hears are the shallow breaths that you’re desperately trying to hold. “Eta?” He asks over to his co-worker sitting below him.
“Three.” Chan’s eyes scan the screen with the call transcript, he’s staring. Waiting for your words to pop up.
“Is he in the room with you?” His jaw is clenched and his tongue feels heavy with every word but the silence on your end speaks louder than any words that could come out of your mouth. “Baby, listen to me. I need you to stay as still as possible, okay? Don’t move unless you have to.”
You’re quiet, heaving breaths are the only sign that you haven’t been disconnected. The only sign that you’re alive. Chan runs a hand through his hair as his next sentence weighs on the heavy muscle in his mouth. “I love you, okay? I love you and I love Nara with -”
His voice cracks as tears threaten to fall. He breathes them back, standing up straighter and trying his best to not let the damn behind his eyes break. “I love both of you with every ounce of my being. You’re going to be okay, the police are right around the corner but I need you to put down the phone.”
A sob catches in your throat and the heavy boots roaming your bedroom stop for a second. You watch the shadow from under the closet door with wide eyes. “I need you to hold the gun with two hands, just like I taught you okay? I need you to be ready in case -”
He’s interrupted by a sudden thud followed by frantic rustling. “Hello?” He can hear you, he can hear you breathing. He can hear your frantic movements then he can hear your screaming, your struggling.
“Y/n?” He’s panicking, shattering into a million pieces as he listens in on the other line. “Where the fuck are they?” Changbin runs up behind Chan, his hand returns to its earlier spot as he reports what he knows.
“They’re outside, they’re there.” Chan’s gaze falls back to the screen, the green glowing transcript is unmoving on your part. It’s empty apart from the sound of your screaming.
“Baby, I need you to fucking fight.” Tears are falling from his eyes, he’s redder than hot iron and his heart is shaking like a leaf in his chest.
“Chan!” You’re screaming. Screaming his name, begging him for help and he’s not there. Your sobs are loud, rippling through the receiver accompanied by more rustling. He can hear the grunts of the assailant as he fights you but they’re easily drowned out by the sound of police sirens echoing through the air.
“Fight, do you hear me?” He’s practically yelling into the headset. Eyes shut tight as he focuses on every single sound until he hears the one that he was dreading. It echoes louder than any scream he’s ever heard. He’s cold as soon as he registers the gun fire, his eyes fly open as he’s swallowed by the silence on the other line. It’s loud, once again louder than any words could be.
“Y/n?” His mind is running wild. His thoughts are swallowing him whole, wrapping him up in a darkness that he never knew could exist. Who fired that shot? “Baby?” His shaky voice is nearly a whisper, a desperate whisper with a hidden plea that you’ll answer him.
Everything is still around him, time seems to evaporate as he counts the seconds without hearing your voice. Selfishly, he finds himself missing the screams. At least then he was sure that you’re alive, at least then he -
“Channie.” Your trembling voice rings through the receiver and Chan straightens up like a flower towards sunlight. “He’s dead.”
Chan unravels in an instant. Tears run down his blushed cheeks like a free flowing river and the shards of his heart decorating his insides glisten in the hope of being put back together. “I fought for you.” His hands form fists in his hair as Changbin soothes his friend that best that he can.
“You did great, baby.” He chokes out through sobs, trying his best to sound strong for you. Trying to be as strong as you’re being now. He listens as your daughter runs to you with tear stained cheeks and quivering lips that you kiss over and over again as you hold her close to your shaking frame.
“Chan.” You mumble. “Please come home.”
He does his best to collect himself. He wipes his tears and tries to breathe normally. He blinks away the heartache lingering in his stomach and the anger multiplying in his chest. He fights it all away for you. He fights it all away just so you can hear him say this.
“I’m coming to you, right now. I'm coming.”

it was as though her bedsheets were strangling her. Feeling as though her entire body was being weighed down by stones, Y/N breathed sporadically as she stirred awake, the images from her dream still lingering like a cloying perfume in the air around her.
She placed a hand on her chest as she blinked hard, trying to clear the grogginess from her eyes. She felt heavy, like something was sitting on her chest, and she swallowed thickly as she fought against herself to sit up in her bed. Her husband was fast asleep beside her, gentle snores escaping his parted mouth and one of his arms loosely hanging over the curve of her waist. But feeling suddenly extremely disgusting and overwhelmed from her dream, Y/N carefully pushed Chan's arm away and slipped out of bed. She shivered when her feet hit the cold floor, the temperature minutely zapping her out of her bubble.
Shuffling out of the bedroom, Y/N brushed her fingers over her cheeks, stopping the first stream of tears from going any further. She sniffed as she made her way to the kitchen; it was as though her body moved on its own when she flicked the switch of the kettle and reached for a mug and a floral teabag. The woman's gaze was fixed onto the distance, unseeing as she waited for the water to boil. As she waited, she dropped her head into her hands and leaned against the counter; Y/N couldn't help it when tears spilled into her hands and through the gaps of her fingers.
As hard as she tried, Y/N couldn't rid herself of the face that insisted on barging its way into her dreams every night for the past few weeks. She hadn't thought about him in almost two decades; he was such an insignificant part of her life that she couldn't for the life of her figure out why on earth he was there in her dreams.
She didn't want to admit to herself that she was having nightmares, either. The first few times it had happened she had pushed it to the back of her mind, shaking it off. But as the days went on, her dreams of him became more frequent, the atmosphere in them making her feel like she was drowning. The severe depression she felt inside her dreams whenever he was there and the uncomfortable current that flooded her body had trickled into her reality as soon as she woke up. It infiltrated the rest of her day, putting her on edge and ruining her mood. Not only did she feel disconnected from her life, but she felt guilty towards her husband.
How could she be dreaming about her first, tiny crush when the love of her life was next to her every night?
Y/N's mind was occupied with frustration when she began to pour the water over her teabag. She was so distracted that she didn't notice when her aim shifted; Y/N gasped in pain when hot water splashed onto her fingers, and she dropped the kettle against the counter with a thud.
“Baby?”
Chan had turned over in bed and realised his wife wasn't beside him; frowning, he had vacated the room in search of her. He was just in time to see the woman turning away and rushing towards the sink, and when his gaze landed on the kettle and wet counter, his eyes widened.
“Baby did you hurt yourself?” Chan's husky voice was full of worry as he made his way towards his wife. “Let me see.”
With blurry eyes, Y/N let Chan softly take her wet hand in his; she watched through her lashes as Chan ran his thumb over the back of her hand, his eyes widening at the sight of her raw fingers. He leaned down and kissed her knuckles softly before placing Y/N's hand back under the cold water with a sigh.
“What happened?” Chan hummed in question. He smiled cheekily. “Really wanted a cup of tea, huh?”
Y/N's eyes filled with tears all over again. She looked away, embarrassed, and Chan's smile turned into an expression of sympathy as he leaned a little closer to her.
“What's wrong, baby girl?” Chan asked in a soft voice. “Is something bothering you?”
At that, Y/N burst into tears all over again. Her entire body shuddered with the force of it, and it was all Chan could do to immediately wrap his arms around her to keep her from sinking onto the floor.
“Okay, I'm sorry … I'm sorry,” Chan whispered as he cupped the back of her head with his soft touch. He rocked her gently side to side as he held her close, his fingers patting the length of her hair. “It's okay, baby. I'm here. Just let it all out, okay?”
With her face buried in the hollow at Chan's neck, Y/N did just that; she cried for what felt like a very long time, and once she had finished, her body jerked sporadically as she tried to regain her breath. Chan's fingers were tender against her temples and at the small of her back, his lips a constant kiss on top of her head. When he pulled back a little as his wife's sobbing subsided, Chan settled his hands on either side of her face and gently brushed away the tear tracks she had left behind.
“Let's go get this bandaged up, hmm?” Chan kissed Y/N's forehead before cradling his wife's injured hand in his. He tugged her towards one of the stools behind the counter and sat her down before rummaging around in a cupboard for a few different items.
Once he had sat down beside her, Chan took Y/N's hand again and gently placed it onto the counter. Its surface was cool against Y/N's fingers and she shivered as she watched Chan open up a tub of petroleum jelly.
“You're so clumsy,” Chan chuckled in a light manner as he warmed up the petroleum in-between his fingers. “If you really wanted some tea, you could have woken me up.”
The ghost of a smile crossed Y/N's face. Her gaze was fixed on her husband's curly head; it was bent as he carefully slathered her red fingers with the petroleum jelly, and Y/N felt her heart lurch when she caught a glimpse of the affection sparkling in his eyes for her. His lips were plump as he pursed them in concentration; when he looked up, his face broke into a grin and he giggled upon seeing her watching him.
“Am I making a mess?” Chan asked. He reached for a roll of bandages, keeping his eyes locked on Y/N's. “I don't want to hurt you even more.”
Y/N shook her head. “It doesn't hurt.”
“It doesn't?” Chan raised an eyebrow. “Well, you're stronger than me. I'd probably be crying if I was in your shoes.”
At that, Y/N started to giggle. She knew just as well as her husband did that he rarely cried over injuries.
But he was trying to make her feel better. And it made Y/N's heart feel just a little bit lighter.
“I keep having nightmares,” Y/N blurted out after a while.
Chan looked up as he finished bandaging her fingers. “What sort of nightmares?”
“About a guy,” Y/N said.
Chan smiled. “Me? Am I haunting your nightmares?”
“No,” Y/N started to laugh as she rubbed the back of her uninjured hand over her eyes. She then sighed, sagging a little in her seat. “I wish it was you in my dreams.”
Chan chuckled. He tossed his rubbish away in a bin before giving his wife his full attention, a gentle smile on the curve of his lips. “Go on then. Who's the guy?”
“Someone I had a crush on a really long time ago,” Y/N frowned. “From primary school.”
“Primary school?” Chan started to laugh. “Wow … he really must have had an impact on you.”
“That's the thing though,” Y/N exhaled heavily. “I barely knew him. I haven't thought about him in years. But for the past few weeks he's been in every one of my dreams. And it's always the same scenario … he likes me, I don't, and he doesn't care. In the dreams I always tell him I like you, but ... he just … it's like he tries to force himself on me.”
Chan wrinkled his nose. “Sounds like a cunt.”
Only Chan could make Y/N giggle when she was on the verge of tears again. She smiled at him as he took a hold of her hand, his fingers soft as they played with hers.
“I don't know why I keep dreaming of him,” Y/N continued. “I feel like I'm drowning. And it ruins my entire day. Like I can't think about anything else.”
At that, Chan's eyes softened. He squeezed his fingers gently as he willed her to go on.
“And I feel so guilty,” Y/N gulped. “Because I love you so much. And I should be dreaming of you, not some random guy from the past. I hate it. I'm sorry, Chris.”
“Hey, don't apologise to me,” Chan tutted as he moved closer to his wife. “They're dreams. You can't control your dreams, baby. I mean … sometimes our subconscious processes certain feelings or events through dreams and nightmares - it might just be your body trying to filter him out of your mind? Or maybe you've been thinking about the past lately, and your brain just dug him up too.”
Y/N's eyes welled with tears. “But then why are they so repetitive?”
Chan smiled sadly. “Well, you said you hate those dreams, right? Maybe you hate them so much that you end up dwelling on how much you hate them and your brain ends up dreaming of the same thing again … because technically you've been thinking about him when you think of the dreams, right?”
Y/N blinked at her husband. As she let his words sink in, she realised she had been doing exactly that.
Whether she liked it or not, the figure from her past had been at the forefront of her mind for quite a while.
“Maybe don't fight your thoughts as much … “ Chan was saying when Y/N's attention landed on him again. “When they happen, just accept them and let them go. Maybe the more you push them away, the more they'll come back to haunt you? But if you accept them, your brain will adjust and filter him out and the nightmares will stop.”
With a sigh, Y/N dropped her head against Chan's shoulder. Her breath shuddered when he brought his arms around her again and hugged her softly, his lips like butterfly wings when he kissed the side of her neck.
“Things always sound so simple when you say them,” Y/N whispered into the crook of Chan's shoulder. “It's always chaotic in my head but you manage to make it peaceful.”
At that, Chan smiled widely. He hugged her tighter as she spoke again.
“Sometimes I wake up and I wanna throw up,” Y/N said. “That's how much I hate the idea of being with someone other than you.”
Chan burst into quiet laughter. “How did you just manage to turn your nightmares into something adorable? Do you really love me that much?”
“Of course I do,” Y/N giggled. “You're my whole world.”
Chan's grin widened. He suddenly stood up and scooped his wife up into his arms before carrying her up to their bedroom again. Once he had tucked her into her side, he suddenly giggled.
“Oops. We forgot the tea,” Chan said, making to get out of the bed again.
But Y/N reached out with her uninjured hand and curled her fingers around the man's wrist. She pulled him towards her much to Chan's surprise, and she wrapped her body around him like a little koala hugging her favourite branch.
“I didn't want the tea,” Y/N yawned against Chan's chest. “I just wanted it to relax me. But you relaxed me instead.”
Chan hummed contentedly. “I still feel bad about your hand.”
“It's not that bad,” Y/N smiled. “It'll be fine in the morning.”
“Let me kiss it better,” Chan giggled. He reached for her hand and immediately plastered a flurry of adoring kisses all over the small bandage. “There. Now … if only I could kiss your brain better too.”
Y/N smiled up at him. She let her eyes fall shut as Chan kissed her forehead, the gesture lingering as if he had tried to transfer it into her brain. Giggling, Y/N buried her face against Chan's chest and let him wrap her up in his arms again like a burrito, her eyes drooping and the sweet scent of him fluttering into her dreams.
