Wow, my feed is getting awfully specific š³

Story time! I donāt have a mindās eye. In fact, I think the notion of anyone having a mindās eye is bizarre! I thought it was normal - until I realised itās not. Not really. Itās kind of funny, then, that the only trophy Iāve ever been awarded was one for a piece of descriptive writing with no physical stimulus.
Itās not that I donāt have an imagination - I do - but the scenes unfolding in my head are behind a closed curtain, and I am the wrong side of it. Thereās a bundle of energy in the back of my mind I can feel as pictures paint themselves... suggestions of movement in dynamic scenes, perhaps. Or maybe itās the frustration that I. Canāt. See. Anything!
I sometimes wish someone would lift the veil; that they would let me imagine those sandy beaches everyone is supposed to envisage - let me find my āhappy placeā, which will forevermore be a black and lonely void.
But most of the time, I am glad I am blind to the canvas up there. It has made me sensitive to the nuances of language and I am always looking to appreciate every detail I lay my eyes on. Even if my mental arithmetic is shocking and I canāt describe my motherās face, itās part of me. And every time I place my eyes on someone, I get to appreciate anew all the things that make them beautiful.
If I want to remember something and be able to look back, I just have to take lots of pictures :)
Congrats to OP on finishing finals! Also, I have to share because LOOK AT THAT CAT OMG š
23/6/2020
My finals are over!! Yes yes yes! I am so glad I made it through (successfully?) So here is an old photo of my cat interrupting my study session.
Good luck to everyone still studying and trying their best! You can do it and you will!!
This is a little late but let me introduce myself. My name is Lauren, but most people nowadays call me Lozza (or some variation thereof).
Iām a January baby, born in 2001 and Iām an absolute nerd! I love learning and am curious about just about anything so I thought Iād finally join the studyblr community because I love it here!
Iām that one friend who is always spouting out obscure facts you didnāt realise you needed to find out :)
Iām taking my A Levels at the end of this academic year (2018-19) and Iām studying:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- French
- German
- Maths (self-taught)
with the hope of going to Cambridge to study NatSci and eventually specialise as a chemist.
I love languages as much as I love science and am also a bit artsy sometimes - I used to want to be an author and I love writing. Art, too! I also love horses and used to ride (I canāt anymore unfortunately - my wrists have given up on me š)
Organic chemistry is my favourite thing ever and I do play with molecular modelling kits for fun. Iām also always buying books (mostly in French and German nowadays) and I never. end. up. reading. them.
Anyway, Iām always down for a chat so my ask box is open 24/7 if you need someone to talk to or even just want to say hi haha
Iām always looking for mutuals so donāt be shy āŗļø
Sorry for not posting in a while - Iāve been inundated with stuff these past few days! These days Iāve been focusing on stats and mechanics, and have covered all of normal distribution, probability, regression and correlation. At the minute, I am finishing off some homework - this is chemistry. We are doing rates of reactions and the Arrhenius equation, so that means LOTS of graphs.
I hate them.
Iām making progress with that textbook of genes (which is even heavier than it looks, btw) and have been predicted 5 A*s on my UCAS application, which has now been submitted. I canāt wait!
I quite like the combination of typing and then hand decoration. We are studying Das Leben Der Anderen in German and Iām making character notes. Iām going to move onto maths soon though.
Iām not having a great day, because my bus didnāt turn up and so I was late to school and very stressed this morning - I plan my day to the minute to stave off my anxiety and if it doesnāt go exactly to plan I canāt help getting upset. However, I have taken steps to calm down and I am being quite productive!
Mocks are finally over and I think they went okay. So now I get to chill out and read!
This term is always hectic but itās nice to find time for myself :)
š§ LoĆÆc Nottet - On Fire š§
Rant incoming! Iām so tired. Itās been half a week and Iāve had so much work thrown at me. Iāve just moved into my second year house and am still finding my feet; Iāve got work from 5 modules on the go at the same time; thereās Zoom calls left, right and centre; and a ton of short deadlines. Iām trying to keep my chin up because the content is actually very interesting - itās just very intense!
Anyway, have some proton NMR notes and remember to drink some water :)
Well, today was... interesting. I got to school at 8am, went to form, had a cup of tea and did a maths challenge in said form... and spilt my water all over my bag. My important stuff was fine, but my phone and everything up front got soaked. Oops!
I had to lay all my stuff out on the desk and wait for my mother to bring a spare backpack. Of course, stupid me forgot to take my key out that bag so I was locked out for an hour when I got home :(
Other than that, I had 4 free periods and 1 lesson today. I made biology notes on gene regulation and the lac operon from 08:55 to 10:55 and did a mixed exercise on geometric sequences from 11:20 until 12:20.
Then came Chemistry, where we did worksheets on orders of reaction because my teacher had a massive migraine.
Lesson 5 was my designated time to see my tutor, who is a retired maths teacher and is helping me along. We spent 45 minutes talking about the binomial expansion and then radians, which was great fun. That was such a nice way to end the day.
When I got home (which was almost an hour later than usual since I was locked out!) I kind of flopped on my bed and completely forgot that I had to do homework due in tomorrow.
So at 17:00, I sprang into life again and finished German (pictured) and then Chemistry. That took until 21:00, when I forced myself to stop.
Girlās gotta look after herself, you know?
