Maybe i should watch the anime after all?
It’s incredibly important to me that the anime decided to include this scene that wasn’t in the manga. In the manga, Maomao does pass out in Jinshi’s lap after saving him from what was obviously an assassination attempt.
HOWEVER, the manga cuts off at this point, keeping strictly in Maomao’s perspective, and cuts straight to when she regains consciousness in bed after being treated for her injuries. The manga doesn’t show how she got back. They SAY how, and she briefly mentions, “wow that must have been embarrassing; he carried me back,” but we don’t SEE it. We don’t get to feel the true impact of what that means. But the anime DID show us, and holy shit.
They SHOW us how taboo this is. They show Jinshi carrying her out of the temple, after a public attempt on his life.
They show us the shock and horror on Lakan’s face as Jinshi silently walks past him. Horror at the state his daughter is in, horror at another man—a man with a status he could never dare to question—staking such a public claim over his child, horror at the fact that he could never have this level of closeness with her (as Maomao would never allow it).
Everyone hides their gazes, as is their custom when someone of his rank passes by, but the air is different this time. Jinshi is furious, he’s terrified, and he could not give a single shit about how inappropriate it looks to these palace officials.
The shot that slowly follows her trail of blood—even though it’s a small detail—that in particular leaves such a intense impression of how poignant this is for him.
Maomao talked about this scene in the manga like it was nothing to her. She did what she set out to do: she saved the person who was targeted by the attack. She didn’t even know the target would be someone she knew. But she has no idea that this happened afterwards as a result of her bravery. To her, it likely wasn’t even an act of bravery at all. She acted on impulse; she did what she knew was the right thing to do.
The anime didn’t need to include this, because the manga didn’t show it. But damn, I’m so glad they did.
Me when my friends tell me about their crush:
Oda: He kicked you into a wall?
Dazai: and in the face after he stomped on me.
Ango: and you're happy about that?
Dazai: I've never liked pain more 😊
Ango: Therapy. You're going to therapy.
Dazai: Oda!
Oda: No I agree. Time out for you.
quick headshot 'cause I had a vision
Headcanon: Atsushi can only fall asleep when he’s either completely exhausted or when he knows he’s safe.
He rarely got a good nights sleep growing up. Something that carried over when he was abandoned to the streets. He’d walk for hours despite having no energy hoping it would tire him out enough.
The first true good night sleep Atsushi had was during a game night with the Agency. Dazai was in the middle of antagonising Kunikida when Atsushi slump forward.
Luckily he only lightly head butted Dazai’s shoulder.
But he didn’t move.
Dazai was going to ask what was up and then noticed Atsushi was knocked out. He got everyone’s attention and Ranpo deduced it was because Atsushi was exhausted.
Kunikida made a note to make sure Atsushi wasn’t overworking himself (hypocrite.) While Dazai attempted to gently pry Atsushi off him. He froze when Atsushi cried out and clung to Dazai’s arm. His whole body shaking with fear.
Ranpo’s grin left his face, he took off his glasses and simply gestured for Dazai to stay.
Dazai frowned but did so. Running a hand through Atsushi’s hair and reassuring him he was here. It was a relief to them all when Atsushi calmed down. Make an adorable chuffing sound as he did so.
Kunikida questioned what was happening and Kenji said he seen animals on the farm act like this. Ones that were injured or had been mistreated by others would act on edge.
But when they found others that made them feel better they’d act more like themselves.
And stick to the others like glue.
And the Agencies were Atsushi’s glue, his safety.
A blanket was wrapped around Atsushi and in the end they all had a sleepover in the living room of the dorm building.
Because after that none of them could bare to leave Atsushi alone right now. And Atsushi had the best sleep he’d had in years.
also I wish to talk about this Chuuya's hair
it's longer than in Fifteen but he's not tying it into a ponytail like Storm Bringer yet.
It's partly because it's an old design that was made forever ago, before any backstories were solidified, but this design makes him look so baby. His clothes are baggy and look too big on him. His hair is at an in-between length. He's looking like he's still growing into himself. He is baby. He is figuring things out. Please wait.
Caretaker having to learn new skills because of whumpee but its not about taking care of the wounds or how to deal with flashbacks, no.
Its about caretaker having plain straight hair while their whumpee has the most curly hair they've seen.
Learning all about how to care for that type of hair and maybe even whumpee teaching them and ending up having some bonding time.
I LOVE EVERY 15 SKK POST
Please someone get them out of my head
the odysseus curse
if i could give my life for yours, or die with you
O acquaintance, grantors of dark disgrace, do not wake me up again.
i'm too good, i can make something like this everyday- motivation required tho💀
Now I need Atsushi, Chuuya and Tachihara to all become friends and bond over being experimented on.
Having to deal with torture, and annoying pretentious scientists monologuing about improving and bringing out their full potential.
Mori's just secretly taking notes in the corner and everyone else is horrified.
