“Nineteen Eighty Four,” Scully responded dryly. “I wasn’t trying to steal your thunder Mulder, I’m just saying our investigation here shouldn’t be about magic because magic isn’t real.” Mulder gave her a sly look and she could only guess at what he would say next.

“Wrong! I graduated in nineteen eighty six. I’m insulted that you think I’m thirty two,” he said with a sarcastic smile, “You’re just scared.”

So i’m near the end of season 8 (and potentially putting it off a little) and with all the spoilers I’ve seen… how tf do they not both kill themself? Like all the grief I hear that they are about to suffer and then “yeah and then Scully just goes to be a normal doctor in the revival and they don’t really talk anymore” WHAT DO YOU MEAN? How does that happen? Like i’m sure I’ll find out but i feel like the show could’ve ended at season 5 (i do love dogget and reyes tho)

In 2002 I went through Gossamer and saved a bunch of my favorite XF fanfics. Some I saved years before, before they were pulled from the archives. If I were going to introduce someone to the world of XF fanfiction - one of the most insanely prolific fandoms ever (not everything - not even a tiny percentage of the good stuff - is posted at ff.net or ao3) -  these are some of the ones I’d choose. This list is by no means exhaustive; some stories were lost to time, some were pulled and I will respect the author’s wishes and won’t repost them even if I have the saved files.  I’m including links to the ones still archived at Gossamer and titles/authors of the others so you can hunt them down if you so choose via wayback machine.

mulder & scully spend so much time at the airport and on planes and we never see any of it. well i want to see it. i wanna see them grabbing overpriced bagels from the airport shops right before boarding. i wanna see scully doing crossword puzzles on the plane and mulder reading sci-fi magazines. i wanna see them impatiently waiting for their luggage to come down the carousel at baggage claim. absolutely nobody else wants to see this but i want to see this
