Fatal Attraction - KINNPORSCHE
i think so far my favorite thing abt mileapo was that one ig story where apo posted a pic of what was extremely clearly mile but refused to tag it or even add any commentary, what he did do though was stick a fkin tiger emoji on mile's face for reasons unbeknownst to the general public but if that was his attempt at animosity its fkin hilarious
i underestimated porsche bc I thought he would go back to smoking bc of tawan this ep when last ep he said he would quit. but my boy didn’t. instead he turned to meditation to stay calm. im so proud of him
can’t emphasize enough how queer and slutty it was for him toÂ
- place single leg on bed, hands on waistband
- scoff, dramatic head turn bc he’s a man with a sexy secret
- lil shimmy hip move left hip move right
- grab dick sit down
An interlude to the power series
I was just thinking about how this man:
And this man:
Look like two completely different people. And that got me thinking about what it means for Kinn, the Theerapanyakul heir and his power.
Korn, in his (almost) infinite wisdom thinks Kinn's relationship with Porsche is the apple juice that'll dull his knife. My take is completely different. You see, what makes Ep. 8 Kinn different from the version we saw between Eps 1 and 5 is that this Kinn is being unburdened of personal pain and angst. This Kinn is being given the personal autonomy the previous Kinn did not have. The result? A stronger mind, a stronger leader. Now that Kinn is working on moving on from the shambles of his Tawan-Era self, he has the bandwidth to compartmentalise and stop being Khun Kinn 24/7. Which effectively means that he's achieving the public-private dichotomy that Machiavelli wanted for his Prince. He's stabilising his power and his hold on his kingdom.
Kinn is also developing what is known as Referent Personal Power here- power that comes from people swearing loyalty to you out of reverence/love. It's the sort of stable, long-lasting power that all publicists/campaign managers ideally want their clients to amass.
Now am I saying that his budding relationship with Porsche means only good things? Nope. Because this is where my analysis of Porsche's power comes into play. This newfound influence Kinn is indulging in is a product of Porsche bestowing that power on him. But in this contract, Kinn has signed away his personal and emotional safety to Porsche I fucking beseech thee dude DO NOT piss Porsche off . That leaves a lot of chinks in his armour exposed; especially to somebody as sharp as Vegas.
Fortunately, however, with Porsche (the Queen) willingly taking his place beside Kinn; Korn's All Knowing Chess Play is finally coming to fruition and - in ways that Korn didn't intend HAH! or (perhaps) even want - the Queen piece is now personally invested in keeping Kinn safe. And Porsche accepting his place as Queen means that Kinn is also stepping out of his Prince peraona into his King persona.
This is Kinn unknowingly working up to truly stepping into his own as the Don of the Theerapanyakul family.
APO NATTAWIN as PORSCHE (8/?) KINNPORSCHE (2022) dir. Khom Kongkiat — or in other words: porsche looking thoroughly f***ed
We know what Kinn is like when he's in love.
He goes all in. The only time he resists Porsche is when Porsche pulls his hand away. Besides that, Kinn pretty much let's Porsche do whatever. Which is romantic, right?
Until we remember that in his previous relationship,
Which would have also been alright because people in relationships lie. They don't always do the right thing. And if we're to believe Tawan's story, his family was in danger.
Cool.
Except, when we add the dynamics between them. Because Tawan is all cool and calm with Porsche.
But the moment Kinn shows up,
And then as soon as he has Kinn's protection, as soon as he notices the familiar chinks in Kinn's armour, he changes.
His words get curt. His voice is deeper. His smiles disappear. He makes Kinn know that he isn't budging and Kinn relents.
Also, this scene.
Kinn tries to set a boundary. But the moment Tawan says,
Kinn, once again, obeys.
It isn't even like Kinn has one second where he considers, "hmm, maybe I feel something for him." Nope. Because look at his face throughout the whole thing.
Kinn wants to be anywhere else.
AND YET,
Powerful, stern, boss Kinn can't do anything about it. He hates being there but he just sits through it, allowing Tawan to rub his head on his crotch.
Even when Kinn tries to raise his voice, Tawan laughs in his face.
He laughs in the face of someone who's shot him before. He mocks Kinn's temper because he's seen it before he knows how to get around it.
When Kinn yells, others scramble. When he yells at Tawan, Tawan reminds him of their history. He's not scared of Kinn.
Which makes me wonder, is Kinn playing up his insecurities as a way to fool Tawan into old habits, or is this really how he feels, how he's been pushed to act around Tawan, because of their past?
Because, regardless of whether Kinn's behaviour now is fake or real, the truth still remains that Tawan recognises this behaviour. And if he does, then that must mean that this was how Kinn used to act when they were in a relationship, scared, obedient and unable to truly be himself.
mile and bible getting disappointed at how short the previews for the next episodes areÂ
so,,, i was rewatching episode 5 as one does to deal with the fact it’s not saturday yet and when i got to the scene where kinn and his father discuss while playing chess the scene in episode 7 in the hospital with kinn and his father talking again suddenly came to mind and it’s fascinating to think about how much both scenes parallel each other and have in common in terms of kinn’s character development or more specifically the way he’s breaking free from the role he is supposed to playÂ
in episode 5 kinn goes to his father because chan told him he wants to talk to him and kinn enters the scene like a lost kitten with puppy eyes afraid of what his father would want considering he had sex with porsche the night before and neglected his work the day after and he knows that his father is going to scold him and it’s something that always sticks to me when i rewatch the episode because i really like kinn’s little expressions here (mile is an acting genius wbk)Â
so he enters the scene with a stance that makes it seem like his head is weighting on his shoulders and he exales when his father very calmly says ’have a seat’ so kinn hints a nervous smile and sits while his father looks at him showing a little smile himself and here kinn hasn’t his jacket on and his hair looks messy he seems so small and powerless like up to that point we saw a fierceless kinn with flames in his eyes and little to no fear surrounding his persona and this scene is maybe the first time we see that vulnerable of him side he then shows in episode 6 when he’s alone with porsche and it is also the first time we see kinn actually positioned below his father and kind of scared of him as opposed to the other conversations they had in which it always seemed like they were almost at the same level and kinn always seemed at ease maybe just a bit intimidated as he should because he is anyway father an older person and the leader of their family so he should show respect always
so he’s lost and he tries acting as normal as possible but he knows his father can see right through him and his eyes express that sense of vulnerability he’s feeling trying to obtain his father’s validation they start talking his father seems at ease and starts with small talks and it’s kinn that finally breaks and goes to the point because he feels his father’s judging gaze on him and the moment they start talking about porsche and about what happened between them the night before kinn is not the mafia boss anymore he’s just a boy trying to justify his action to his father who’s scolding himÂ
’as a boss, i’m supposed to take care of him, aren’t i?’ he seems so lost he’s trying to justify himself he just wants to hear his father say he did the right thing butÂ
and kinn lowers his head once again avoiding eye contact with his father because deep down he knows that what he did was innapropriate
and at the end he says this, asking his father again what he should do, understanding that if he doesn’t want people to gossip about what happened he needs to be bossy and reminds them who’s in charge and punish porsche is the only way to do that
but then he says this and i think he says it because he wants his father to decide against the idea of punish porsche because kinn knows it wasn’t porsche’s fault and he knows he doesn’t deserve the punishment so it’s like he’s saying to his father ’are you sure we should punish him?’
my god look at this lil meow meow eyes he’s so tamed he just wants to obey his father and don’t dissapoint him it hurts
and the conversation between them ends like this with kinn visibly at loss and korn who once again established his power over his sonÂ
but then episode 7 happens and we hear korn say ’your eyes have changed’ and they have indeed because the way kinn is looking at his father now after being alone with porsche in the forest for days is different those days apart from his reality really did something to him and he doesn’t seem scared of his father and in search of validation anymoreÂ
(referring to the first picture of this post) this time kinn is not sitting opposite to his father but they’re beside one another and neither of them turn their whole body towards the other they’re sitting straight and eying each other now he’s watching his father how he watches everyone else like he’s sitting on this golden throne above all else if his father was the one looking down before he’s now looking up at him and it’s so important that he indeed noticed it and says ‘your eyes have changed’
kinn’s expression does drop only because it’s the first time he comes to term with the fact that porsche is changing him and the people who knows him are noticing it but he doesn’t break eye contact with his father he doesn’t lower his head he continues to look at his father fiercely and then his father proceeds with the apple and knife story which parallels the chess analogy he used in episode 5 and we see kinn reacts in a way that screams something along the ’what is this old man saying please shut up’ opposite to the chess game when he was practically shitting his pants for how much he was afraid of his father’s reaction and i love how opposite the two scenes are because now his father is trying to scare him again with his stories and lessons while what kinn gets from the whole conversation is the fact that he should work on his trust issues to be with porsche because he wants to be with him he wants to trust him he’s beginning to appreciate himself more because of how porsche makes him feel and he doesn’t want to treat these feelings as weaknesses but as a strengths and that’s why he accepts the apple from his father and takes the bite he’s accepting to be corrupted by the decision he’s making that could jeopardize everything he has worked for ‘till that moment and it all culminates with kinn escaping the hospital to go and be with porsche and gifts him his gun(s)
his father asks him to come back to his old self for the sake of the family but later kinn confesses to tay that he doesn’t want to be like his old self anymore he’s aware of the progress he has made and he wants to move forwardÂ
the two scenes parallel each other and give us an insight in the changing developing of kinn’s true character which i guess will come to its climax at the end of the series when he’ll fully trust porsche with his life and they’ll begin the us against the world act
