writing steve & maya at the same time is so funny & such a juxtaposition bc both have some intense abandonment issues but the difference is -

steve: everyone wants to leave me because i suck & am horrible & hard to love & there’s something in me that everyone sees that makes them leave & it’s all my fault

vs

maya: everyone leaves because they suck & are horrible & can’t be trusted & can’t handle baggage & don’t deserve me & it’s all their fault

maya's mom had encouraged her to talk to shawn, 'he needs all the support he can get right now and he is family', so here she is, attempting to do that. even if she doesn't really want to. head is propped on her hand as she looks at shawn. "so ... what's the deal with you and prince stevie? you're usually following him around like a little lost puppy dog ... trouble in paradise?" truthfully she doesn't really exactly care, but talking about this is much more appealing to her than talking about his feelings. "or did he decide to ditch you when the truth came out? realized he was more into the whole vk aesthetic?"

i really wanted to finish things on here & do stuff on my baby boy (as in steve) before i went to sleep but … the tired sleepys seem to be hitting hard & i think i gotta listen to them & just go to bed :((( sad hours. but i’ll be back on when i wake up later & hopefully get to things for my boy then. much love to you all, mwah mwah <3

Maya's eyes narrow as she fully processes what the other's said, and before either of them can even blink - she's shoving them against the nearest wall, arm across their chest, holding them in place. "What the fuck did you just say?" Is asked, rage flaring to life in her chest - blue eyes turning black in anger.

okay so everything is done on maya now! so i'm gonna try to head over to steve's blog & maybe at least do a thing or two before i get too tired? we'll see ... but i've been up for many hours & don't feel tired yet so ...

( random headcanon questions (always accepting) )

maya went into this knowing she needed to do something to keep herself separated from her and 'aunt' kara. she went into this knowing there'd already be suspicions with a random kryptonian kid showing up, fighting crime. she knew she had to be smart and careful, in some ways at least. so chose to use a name that wouldn't be tied to her family. chose to forgo the 'super' moniker and use a name that would be unique to her and wouldn't have it as easy for her to be recognized as a 'super'. she chose the blonde beauty because, well, as said - she's blonde. and because it felt like a fitting enough name. and it was all done more so to keep suspicions from being raised amongst her dad and the rest of her family, less so than for the general public. that's also why she wears a mask. of course, it's also to keep her secret identity secret. but she has to keep it from her family too, so.

however, maya couldn't deny herself from having at least one little tie to her family, to her father, so that's why the 'b' on her costume in the same font as the house of el crest. thankfully, no one ever seems to catch on.
