I see a lot of people reacting to the unity thing by mentioning the price threshold for where fees take effect, and I'd like to remind you that any fees which are applied past an earning threshold are almost always a test that will be nudged down to lower thresholds as soon as the company feels they can scoop money off the top

it's actually wretched for unity to do this because they know exactly what they're doing. the intent is to make people entirely dependent on unity early on and then, once it's too late to switch workflows, squeeze them for every dollar they're worth

this is why it's especially notable that a program like rpgmaker comes with a perpetual license that doesn't change based on your profit scale: it means that they've already taken the money they intend on taking from you, and it's a number below thousands of dollars

I got a lot of new followers today, hi! A lot of you probably just found me from Tumblr staff featuring me on the @artistalley blog.

I've seen a few people comment that they dislike these featured posts because they're "ads" so I just want to address that for a second

Tumblr does not get any kind of revenue from me through featuring me. I didn't pay them for that. I know a lot of people are disgruntled with Tumblr staff for various reasons but I think the artist alley blog is a great way to spotlight merch artists. It's helping me right now

I am a queer indie fashion designer whose clothing store is my entire livelihood. Sharing and purchasing my work directly supports a QPOC (me). You can dislike "advertising" as much as you want but I hope you know that a lot of individual small businesses are run by people like me and are very small-scale operations (I run my store solo) that rely on self-promotion and features to earn a living. It's incredibly different from big corporate advertising.

I'm not really on Tumblr (or social media consistently, lol) but here's a lil look into my indie game, Strawberry's Flowers!

It's gonna be very short and sweet as I'm just trying to learn some new things in pixel art and in my game dev workflows.

I don't usually do fan art, but I'm really vibing with artist OhTheSunnySide's (on Twitter), character designs and stories! Not used to drawing human-like pixel art, but I think I did okay within an hour!

Here’s my sketch to pixel art of my (now paused, leaf-babes-and-awkward-book-nerd-and-fashionable-gamer-lesbians indie game 🍁

This is my main character Leafette. So far I have her as Black, trans, loves books and sweaters. Lol that’s it. I was making this game, but I wayyy over-scoped at my current level of game development, so this game is on the shelf for a bit longer. Might try to make a basic demo by late 2023 for a cozy little fall game 🍂
