This animation was inspired by a little zine I sketched out. I liked it so much, that I decided to turn it into a pixel art animation!
For my dear friend in G/\za 🍓. No matter what happens to her or myself, I am forever grateful to be under the same stars as her, all these miles and oceans apart. Besan's GFM link @bisanalbalawi18

AlBalawi Family @yasminalbalawiigaza @bisanalbalawi18 They have started a NEW GFM with a smaller goal for immediate survival funds. They also received the additional displacement orders 💔, which they shared about in their original GFM here.
Please donate and share this, as my family contact has said one of the children is in dire need to immediate medical supplies!
Tagging accounts under the read-more for reach (I haven’t used this account in a while, and I’ve only been following people on my game dev page, so I don’t think I can directly link them right now?):

Making this post for the AlBalawi Family @yasminalbalawiigaza @bisanalbalawi18 who I have been dm’ing and emailing for a couple of weeks now!
They have started a NEW GFM with a smaller goal for immediate survival funds, but I have not seen it shared here. They also received the additional displacement orders 💔, which they shared about in their original GFM here.
PLEASE consider the conversion rate/fees! For example: I sent $5/USD, it converted to like, $3/USD. And that’s not even considering any instant transfer fees.
And they are also a part of Gaza Champions on IG. Their new GFM was set up by their Champion pen-pal who is helping them with fund transferring.
I have been working on creating a raffle art-raising on my non-game dev side of things, but I have fallen sick 😖, and can’t move as fast. But I’m still working on it! I’ll share it once it’s done.
@‘ing people for reach!

website is still a work in progress but this link directs to the list of vetted fundraisers!!
Patreon is getting rid of 1st-of-the-month/per-creation billing, claiming a new decision by Apple has forced their hand. This will hurt a lot of creatives, and their excuse is bullshit. Allow me to explain.
In 2018, Patreon tried to impose a new ill-considered fee structure on everyone that would have cost creators a lot of smaller pledges. They ended up apologizing for this profusely; they have now deleted this apology from their website and unfortunately I was unable to find it on the Internet Archive. This was shameful, but to their credit they backed off quickly when things got ugly.
Back in 2021, Patreon discussed plans to force all creators into a rolling bill structure and get rid of first-of-the-month/pay-up-front billing. The community once again very decisively shouted them down, and they had to walk it back again. This whole fiasco damaged the already shaky trust between Patreon creators and staff.
This week, Patreon announced that, along with extra fees, Apple's policies were supposedly forcing them to move everyone over to the rolling fee structure that they first tried to get us to agree to in 2021. Patreon will tell you they are not happy about this. As a person who spent a long time watching Patreon make terrible decisions, I can tell you-- they are probably very happy about this, because it's exactly the smokescreen they needed to do what they've been trying to do for years, which is pull ALL Patreon creators away from 1st-of-the-month and per-creation billing.
The spin in the news I've seen so far is "Apple bullies Patreon, boo hoo hoo poor Patreon". This is very obviously not what's happening. Mind you: Apple does suck, and they are doing something bad here. Fuck apple. But Patreon and Apple are BOTH the asshole in this situation; Everyone Sucks Here. Patreon has options: they can make the iOS app a reader app and do billing through the browser to avoid the restrictions and the extra fees (Netflix and Amazon, notably, both do this), or they can allow creators to opt-out of iOS billing if they want to use billing models that don't work with it.
It seems most likely to me that the Apple situation is a real fire that Patreon has chosen to use as a convenient smokescreen to do what they've been wanting to do since at least 2021, and maybe since 2018.
What do we do?:
They have a feedback form specifically about this.
They also have a creator discord.
And they have lots of social media pages where they probably really, really hope that this doesn't blow up again, because they never learn. The incidents I've described here aren't the only two other times Patreon has pissed off their creators. They know if they don't contain the noise it'll be harder to get away with it, so make some noise. They've done a lot of work to spin this cleverly so you'll have sympathy for them and they won't get the kind of backlash they know they deserve.
Please don't misuse these links and make threats or spam or something. All you have to do is give well-reasoned feedback. Patreon hates feedback. Make sure they get a nice heaping helping of their least favorite vegetable.
It's 8 am where I am and I am FILLED with rage already, but here we are with yet another news story about how the US approved a 20 billion dollar arms deal to Israel. So when Palestinians tell you to take your Kamala discourse out of our faces, understand that we don't see the logic in discussing how you feel about someone who's part of this administration just because they uttered the word "ceasefire" somewhere sometime. Our people have been enduring this genocide for ten months and this administration has never once stopped funding it. I hate you all.
Hello Tumblr community!
This blog has been started to document and share fundraisers vetted by @nabulsi, @el-shab-hussein, and Moh'd Ayesh. We felt it would help to create a space dedicated to this documentation process.
The fundraisers we are vetting will be added to this page as well as included in our google sheet.
We will continue to reblog and share on our personal blogs, and that will not change, but this blog will help better organize these fundraisers.
Please spread this as we'd like to start using this primarily to share newly vetted fundraisers.
~ Thank you

Day 283 of the war on Gaza 🥺💔
I’m late to this whole debacle but for the record, I have been messaged by people in Gaza who thought that I was involved in the fundraiser vetting process and sent me photos of their government IDs and documentation. I know a little of what Hussein, Nairuz, Ahmed, Ibtisam, and others use to vet people and make sure that they’re legit, and that’s part of why I confidently cite them as a source. To try and discredit them and smear them as scam artists, along with the genocide victims that they’re trying so hard to help, is fucking beyond the pale.
The reason I’ve been inactive on this blog and focusing instead on compiling resources in order to bring more ppl onto the fundraiser blog is that the work I was doing was spiraling into a 12-hour a day endeavor with just myself, and it was making me so physically and mentally ill that I could barely move or think, so I had to step back and figure out a better way to organize things. And I’m not even doing the actually hard part of this work. I do not vet people. I do not have any skin in this game as a white USAmerican. It’s not my family who are dying in Gaza. I also have not been targeted for harassment or account bans. I literally cannot fucking fathom the physical and mental strain that Palestinian bloggers on this platform have been going through nonstop for nearly a year now.
I still remember being shocked when I saw that Hussein had come back to tumblr after having to take a break due to having a heart attack. Ibtisams, who vetted people and organized all sorts of fundraising efforts all while grieving her father and little sister killed in Gaza, was forced to come back to tumblr to make a statement about how she was in an inpatient facility because people had the gall to impersonate her in order to scam people. Ahmed literally escaped Gaza because of a very well documented fundraising effort here on tumblr, no thanks to the cunts at GoFundMe who made things as difficult as possible every step of the way, and has since spent time and effort helping other people who had hopes of sharing his success. Calling these people scammers is fucking unbelievable. Some of you wouldn’t know solidarity if it bit you in the ass.
If getting messages in your inbox from people trying to escape a genocide makes you uncomfortable, fucking suck it up. Or disable your inbox, I guess. Do literally anything else besides using your platform to direct harassment and slander at people who are trying to survive a genocide. This website is already quite literally engaging in tech apartheid by targeting users in Gaza so constantly, you don’t need to gleefully join in by tagging staff and asking them to terminate people. Fucking unconscionable behavior. I hope that it will follow everyone involved for the rest of their lives.
Hey guys. I have some horrifying news about one of the fundraisers. This listing belongs to a family that wants to remain anonymous but keeps contact with me and the organizer. I don't know how to say this, but one of the two beautiful daughters has been martyred as a result of an air strike. The neighbour's building collapsed on them from the impact. The situation is absolutely harrowing and they need your help. I just received news of this 5 hours ago as of drafting this post. Please do not hesitate to help them.

Apparently the original admin of writing prompts saw the shit storm and kicked everyone out lmao
a post i wanted to make for a few days now, when i was calmer
when the genocide started last year i went into a depression, because i knew the past decades of islamaphobia were leading up to this. again. so much effort was put into making middle easterners not human, but background characters who only exist to get shot at by western militaries. its normal to you that brown people die for literally no reason, and the western military is more of a unquestionable force of nature.
but here online, in left leaning web spheres, people pretend its different. we support poc! we support brown people! we'll show our support through being mad at news and making art! when i see white people make a brown oc, or put another girl in a hidjeb, or any number of poc tokenism, i'd always side eye it. of course there are people i trust. i dont befriend people i dont trust, but the rest? it always felt like it was just another trait to make the character stand out, in the same way you give them magic powers or an animal familiar that isn't a crow or a cat, or make them 6' 7" because your friend's oc is 6' 6". "Heh, this character's not white OR black, but this really cool third thing." (or fourth thing because they have japanese ocs)
So how am I supposed to feel? That things are getting better because I'm in a space that promises me that they think I'm human? I grew up in a Red city, and they still treated me fine to my face. Yeah, the fact of the matter is I wasn't visibly arab enough to be scary to them, but it's the same day-to-day mundanity that comes with tolerance. I'll be treated fine, but what happens when cards are on the table?
well now i know the answer!
white people are uncomfortable because now there is a price on human lives, and they're asking for your help. no more ambiguous handouts, no more "i'll donate to a reputable charity once every few years", you fucking hate that you have to grapple with the fact that there has been things you could've done all along to help the people around you on the verge of death. instead of coming to terms with that you created excuses, like every bigot does when they don't want to accept people of other identities. you're just like them.
i personally won't forget the people that admit to blocking and reporting cries for help from a genocide. i won't forget the people that questioned why someone would go to the people that claim to be anti-fasc for help. i won't forget that islamophobia has always existed in left-leaning circles. nobody should trust you, because you've made it clear you don't trust them.
i feel obligated to talk about this bc i am egyptian and one of the central reasons people from gaza have been fundraising is because of egypt's border policy, which is no longer active since the rafah border was destroyed
i know nothing gets people more heated or self-righteous than the idea that they might be getting scammed, and i know the gofundmes here can be overwhelming in your inboxes and i know for many people in the west who want some kind of reliable process this can seem sketchy but palestinian bloggers on here (and palestinians across platforms including on gazafunds.com) don't want you to be scammed any more than you want to be scammed, and they have put in an extraordinary effort to verify information literally in the middle of a warzone
the truth is you all have no idea how difficult this entire process is from top to bottom, tech companies and fintech companies literally hate anything that passes through this area. i'm banned from uber and doordash because i used an egyptian credit card while travelling and it flagged their automated fraud systems and they never reinstated it lol like that's how arbitrary it is. and egypt is one of the better-connected countries in the area.
the entire reason people in gaza are relying on gofundmes is because the barriers to entry and exit are not accidental—they're deliberate! this is literally what being occupied and middle-eastern means. it means you don't have easy access to bank accounts, you don't have easy access to fundraising, you don't have easy access to your own records, and you are automatically mistrusted by the world at large of how thoroughly dehumanized your language and your people have been during a genocide where you are being bombed and living in a tent. this is also part of what it means to be a refugee from the global south or to be a refugee from the global north, where these processes are expedited (as they were for ukrainian refugees, for example) precisely because they are part of the structure of a war.
like just to explain to you guys how difficult it was for me (someone with access to networks across the world) to get money to a friend in gaza, because egypt's also going through an economic crisis and transferring usd here is close to impossible: to get 15k usd (enough to get 3 people out of gaza) to the office in egypt that registers people for evacuation, that family needed
a stable internet connection to communicate with us (they were only able to get in touch briefly every other day)
first-degree relatives in egypt to register for them
people from abroad who could raise the money for them (which they did; they were family friends who knew them)
an egyptian with a usd bank account and a foreigner coming to egypt who could carry usd in cash to divide it among themselves because there is no other way to receive that amount of money here at once
we managed to get the money to their relatives here, they managed to register them, and then the rafah border was destroyed. so now the are just waiting while being bombed and displaced from one area to another. and this is a family who had every connection needed. imagine how it is for people where only one of these links are dropped?
that's why the work the palestinian bloggers do here to support palestinians in gaza is necessary, because they fill in for people who don't have good language skills, who don't have friends abroad to fundraise or vouch for them, who don't have relatives in egypt who can receive money for them, etc
does this mean every fundraiser is 100% reliable? no. this is why the verification list exists! the things i would be wary of would be if someone sends you a false or phishing link, or if someone who is running the campaign from abroad decides to scam the palestinians they're raising it for and refuse to send the money, both of which i've witnessed personally
but the likelihood of someone faking being from gaza and getting onto the verified list is much smaller because the verification process is rigorous and like i said, palestinians themselves don't want to be promoting scams. but also most of these gofundmes protect your donation, meaning if someone disputes it you get your donation back. they are paranoid to the extent that they will sometimes refuse to pay out people in gaza even after the campaign goal is reached for no reason except that anything from the middle east is generally regarded with suspicion. i've seen paypal also refuse to do the same
as a matter of fact from a tech standpoint it's so, so much easier for someone located in the west to create a fake gofundme/phishing scam than for a palestinian to do so, but by that token it's more difficult for someone in the west to convincingly fake being from gaza. which is why the verification list and other initiatives (like again, gazafunds.com) are so important
i have tried to get gofundmes on gazafunds before and i can promise you their process is rigorous. you might not see a lot of the paperwork behind a specific campaign but i know they don't add campaigns unless they verify their IDs personally or through a network of trusted references. the bloggers on here are a volunteer network working independently, of their own effort, and they are doing their best in what is a genuinely horrible situation. the border is closed now but people in gaza have worked out alternate ways to receive money raised online (again, often via relatives transferring to each other outside gaza or other means) and aid hasn't been coming in for months and those regulating the aid were killed, which means extremely limited supplies and high inflation, so money raised and received now is literally survival money that goes wherever it can, and people are very desperate to raise as much as possible as things get more dire. there is no employment in gaza right now. people have been living off their savings for ten months.
is that simple to convey to some blogger on tumblr donating 5$ to a gofundme? is it simple to understand? no. and that's part of the structure of genocide. you aren't going to be able to venmo someone and get a receipt like you do if you're donating to an org, so volunteers are doing their best to fill in the gaps for that by making sure you know how your money is helping real human beings while relieving the pressure on these humans, in a genocide with limited internet, to constantly post about themselves.
the fact of the matter is that your risk of being scammed by a gofundme from the verified list or gazafunds dot com is extremely low, but the damage of of assuming (and even worse, claiming) these campaigns are a scam is extremely high
if you don't trust a campaign, don't donate to it. if you notice a red flag you feel like the bloggers verifying might have missed, alert them to it. if you notice someone impersonating one of the verified campaigns on here (also common) alert people to it. i often have difficulty identifying which blogs are legitimate because they are deleted and remade so frequently, so i just try to reblog posts from the verified list or promoted by palestinians bloggers as i donate to them.
don't cast doubt on the process if you don't understand it, and don't be cruel about a situation you should pray you never experience—and odds are, if you have a US passport and a US bank account, you never will.
Hello my friend, I am sorry for the inconvenience. I'm trying to get my family out of the Gaza war. My father is sick and needs medical care, and the costs of treating this are high. Can you help me with this? I will be really grateful to you.
Vetted by @/90-ghost! As I am unable to donate due to me using USD and this GFM being set in euros, I encourage those who can to donate, or at least share. 🤎
Hello 👋🌹
My name is Noor, a mother of three from Gaza. We were forced to flee south due to the war, and my husband was injured in his shoulder. We have moved several times seeking safety. I have started a fundraising campaign to protect my children and family. We need your support to provide safety and basic needs.
Every donation, no matter how small, makes a significant difference. If you cannot donate, please help by sharing our story so it reaches those who can assist،.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
🇵🇸💔
Noor has been verified by @90-ghost! I am unable to figure out how to donate since I use USD for payments, and this GFM is in Euros (pounds?). My card and online payments keep declining payment. 😥
If any of ya’ll use euros, please donate and/or share! 🤎
Hello,
My name is Mohammed from Gaza. Due to the war in Gaza, I lost my mother, father, and brothers. My children and I were injured. I appeal to you to protect my children and take them out of Gaza and help me complete my treatment abroad because my leg is at risk of amputation due to the lack of necessary treatment 😭. My wife is suffering from uterine cancer and hasn't received a chemotherapy session since the beginning of the events in Gaza. I humbly request a donation of €5 or more for my innocent children. My campaign has been documented and my data verified. I am not a robot or a scammer, and you can verify my story by requesting any information you need. Please donate and share my story.
My wife, children, and I are waiting for your donations.
Thank you very much. 🙏🙏
Mohammed has been verified by @el-shab-hussein and @90-ghost, and I encourage people to match my donation! His GFM is under 300 donations!
Block the writing-prompt-s blog. I don't care if you like them I don't care if they're important to your ability to practice your creativity. They chased a genocide survivor off of tumblr with harassment and baseless accusations. This is a serious fucking problem and it's more important than 1 writing prompt blog.
if you run a gimmick blog with a patreon and start whining about the gofundmes of refugees I think at the bare minimum you should be legally required to get PIG tattooed on your forehead in large bold letters with reflective eye-catching ink
I was getting suspicions but now I'm very 100% sure that most of this website's userbase hates Palestinians and not passively. I'm now fully 100% comprehending that the vast majority of this website's userbase passes by any mention of Palestinians and seethes to their core and the only reason little of it came out was because you thought there might be social repercussions for attacking Palestinians in our time of need. All it took was an easily debunkable false accusation to get people to attack people undergoing genocide as well as a genocide survivor, and now he's been stopped from doing the work he has spent months doing. I will not allow this experience to go undocumented or forgotten. Those who partook in the harassment know what they've done and the unspeakable repurcussions of it. I expected this honestly, because that is exactly what happened to BLM and other Black rights activists since 2014; a cycle of unbelievable praise before horrendous abuse and harassment once they stopped being deified. I also saw the way people treated Moataz Azaiza after he evacuated Ghazzah, and expected the same to happen to Ahmed, who also survived unspeakable things for months in an accelerated genocide, and got harassed and attacked by the THOUSANDS on tumblr after this harassment campaign was put out. I will not forgive any one involved, especially not for what they've done to Ahmed.
Here's a collection of links to posts about the issue in the past couple of days, in chronological order I think. And under the cut will be screenshots of the initial post that I saw that brought this to my attention.

Honorable mention for white victim-playing after leading a hate-campaign against Palestinians surviving genocide:
that article going around abt firefox's new ad program is annoying bc it's phrased as though "mozilla has finally TURNED on its people and is SELLING YOU OUT for cold hard cash!!" when. that's not what's happening. it is specifically being implemented to discourage tracking behavior, and literally all the data they are giving to advertisers is aggregate and anonymized, which is like, the opposite of what that post wants you to worry about, lol
