tbh like….i ain’t mad at either soo or so

they were always destined to fall apart in this era

soo tried so so hard to make sure that she would help him, so that no one would have to suffer, so that he wouldn’t have the legacy she heard of as a bloody monarch. she wanted him to be remembered as she saw him: a great king, and a good person. but once he became king and she became his “mistress,” as won puts it, she was inadvertently stripped of all the power she had in the palace as a court lady, and she was reduced to “sitting in her room, waiting for him to come home.” the intention was for her to become queen, but without the backing of a powerful family to support her, it became impossible. by the time so told her he would make her the second queen after she had a child, she was already broken. her best friend was killed because she was a traitor, spying on her and lying to her for years. not only that, but the one who ordered her death was the man she loved, and despite the fact that chae ryung was working against her the entire time she was in the palace and helped kill people she loved, soo is incredibly torn because she can still see in her a girl who was trying to help her family. then another friend of hers commits suicide. and then she is told that the reason the man she used to love became such a slimy, homicidal jackass was because of a warning she gave him, reminiscent of the previous king telling her he killed people in order to get the throne because she covered so’s scar.

at this point, hae soo feels not only like she doesn’t have the power to save anyone, but like her influence on politics has had an active role in killing all the people she’s worked so hard to save, people she loved deeply. no wonder she wants to leave - it’s not that she thinks so is a monster and wants to escape him, but rather she’s gotten to the point where she hinders more than she helps, and her staying is fatal. and she can’t take people she cares about dropping like flies anymore.

meanwhile so. so. so has his hands tied everywhere he turns. someone made this great post about how people have been abandoning him since the start of his reign. the military general. his mother. baek ah. now hae soo wants to leave too, the only person he has left. and to be honest, it would be better for his reign if he let her leave, because every move he makes he thinks of her, and, as we saw with his marriage situation, he would doom himself if it meant staying by her side. but he loves her far too much to ever let her go. the only thing that finally gets him, that really makes him let her leave, is finding out about wook. and i don’t think it’s a jealousy thing - he knew years ago she had loved one of his brothers, and there’s only so many to choose from. but the fact that it’s wook, “of all people why does it have to be him” wook, breaks him. not because it’s his brother. because he’s the man who plotted the death of his oldest brother, who used chae ryung as a spy and made her a traitor (with the assistance of won), who was ready to shoot yo with an arrow like he was hunting something, who threatened him using hae soo and collaborated with his family to make his sister take soo’s place at so’s side, who used his smart brain to rally the noble families, who looked so in the eye and said “nothing is yours, it’s all mine.” it’s not that hae soo loved someone besides him ever in her life, it’s that she was ready to marry someone who at every turn tried to tear him down and their family down, a manipulative murderous snake, and despite that part of her still cared for him enough to beg for his life.

he feels like she never loved him, “wook was always in your heart,” like it was all just some scheme wook was planning or a way to hurt him using what he cared about most. so he lets her go, because he feels like she’s “throwing him away,” or, even worse, that she never cared about him to begin with. at least not as much as the guy who killed his family and hers.

and it’s tragic. and heartbreaking. and i really can’t blame either one of them.

Solid support you can feel

look at their hands :) loved the hand hold

image

hearing that she cant leave the palace

image

his face, if he could snap won’s neck right now he would

image

when she’s scared she brings her other hand to his, a comfort to have him there. to feel his strength.

image

he can tell she’s scared

image

she tightens, i also feel it gives him support too. hes scared for her, there one unit. his hand stays clasped onto hers, unyielding

image

hes thinking, also worried . he knows shes scared and he cant think of a solution right now. it also a half a side glance

image

half a side glance to him as well. they wont fully look at each other as both are thinking of ways out of this- because it affects both, still the hand holds

image

she edges her way slightly behind wang so, wang so notices it too.

image
image

he’s her shield. before she never knew if he was going to come and be the knight. now there dating, he’s helped her before. Its a nice little reliance that she can have him as support and the fact he will readily be there.

it draws the difference to wook, when she was in these type of situation he wasnt able to stand with her. or so valiantly stand tall to her problems and prove he would stop any harm. when she was about to die wook wasnt seen.

during this scene its wang so and her against everyone. he doesnt cower or weaken his stance.

image

he backs her just like in ep 6 on the horse when she was about to get married. He’s a strong wall for her to lean on for support. when she read fear on all the other brothers face for their death if she didnt go,  she could feel him on her back. un moving. solid. strong. support.

for you, what were the most beautiful aspects of SoSoo?

ah, i love this ask and honestly there is so much i love about SoSoo but these 4 are the things that literally make my heart hurt:

Soo picking up So’s handwriting: The drama really didn’t do this aspect enough justice, and it felt like a minor throw in for drama. But to me it was so much more than that. She loved him so much that she ended up having the exact same handwriting. For years on end, she would write out his words to her because even if he wasn’t there physically, his words became ingrained in her soul and part of her being. And I just find it beautiful.

Soo imagining So’s presence: This completely shattered me. She literally went about her last days pretending he was there with her. And if an outsider saw her smiling they’d think she’s happy and has moved on, when in reality the only way she can cope is by pretending that he’s there with her.

So’s unfaltering loyalty: Once he started trusting her, he never truly stopped. Not when she didn’t trust him, not when she lied to him and not even when she wrote in an unknown language. He was completely and utterly devoted to her.

So’s determination to reincarnate and find her: This man has literally gone through hell, and will live his in complete loneliness, but its the thought of meeting Soo again in the next life that keeps him going through the pain.

Moon Lovers 1 Year Anniversary Week August 28th: ‘When You Knew’

I was wondering which scene to use, since I couldn’t pin point in my mind at which point I knew I was trash for this show, until I remembered Aisha’s tags: #I CAN HEAR ANISAH HOWLING when she giffed this scene; and I think this was the moment for me.

Just watching Wang So broke me completely, in this one scene you see what an outsider he is, you see how much affection he has, you see how badly he wants to be a part of it, and you see how much he knows he can’t.

It’s a slow process even before he begins to smile - first he tries to look away and mind his own business, but he can’t help but smile at his brothers’ antics and its so sweet knowing such a simple moment caused his ‘dog wolf’ facade to break. Which then makes the moment where he and Wook meet eyes, all the more heartbreaking - as if Wook’s attention on him is a reminder that he’s not allowed to share this joy.

So yeah, this was when I knew. Happy One Year Anniversary Moon Lovers!

how to write smut

 - Fire. Everything is metaphorically on fire  - All the things that are on fire are also dripping  - Name seven things in the room. Those seven things are now pulsing  - Pulsing with fiery drippery  - Someone is heaps like a swan  - Five sentences of physically implausible positions  - The transition of two of those positions would probably turn one person inside out and heaps maim the other person  - Three hundred names for a penis  - One really poorly thought out name for a vagina  - Both are on fire, but neither have chlamydia  - She didn’t think she could do the thing. She did the thing. She gasps for the thirteenth time this paragraph  - He stuck his throbbing memberpoledickpenisrodthingbishophosejackhammertool into her flowery fuckhole  - Person A is bending backwards into anatomically incorrect positions again, nobody seems to care or call an exorcist  - Person B hasn’t stopped gasping, someone should probably find an inhaler to alleviate their “swanlike neck”  - Ends in some kind of imagery of fireworks or sunset or some other really orange thing you’d see on a middle age woman’s screensaver

Angsty Romantic Cliches I’m a Slut For

Holding their partner’s unconscious/dead body

Sobbing into their partner’s shoulder/chest

One of them is hurt and the other falls asleep in their hospital room

The other losing their mind when their partner is hurt/killed and charging into battle recklessly

“I thought I lost you” hugs

“Don’t go where I can’t follow!”

One is mind controlled and forced to fight the other

The other refusing to harm them and getting seriously injured as consequence

The person coming to and seeing what they’ve done

I could go on about this trope alone for 5 hours

A last desperate “I love you!”

A tearful, hard kiss before battle, bonus points if its a confessional kiss

“Please, I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

Bandaging each other’s wounds

Both of them injured, and waking up beside each other

people all of a sudden up in arms about this kiss and calling so abusive like

yes the kiss was problematic good job sherlock it was supposed to be

“hae soo did nothing wrong” yes and no

hae soo took someone who has been abused and isolated, both physically and emotionally, his entire life, befriended him, swore to him that she would never betray his trust, and then did just that. she physically and emotionally pushed him away, repeating to him the things that triggered him. “i’m afraid of you.” “you’re going to ruin everything.” the exact opposite of what she’s said in the past, she’s done a complete 180 overnight, going from his closest ally to someone who doesn’t even want to be near him with zero explanation. this isn’t to say hae soo is a bad person, or that her fear was unjustified, but her handling of the situation was careless to an extent. the only person so had ever trusted or opened up to. for abuse victims, trust is a huge freaking deal and this boy had come so far in his healing process.

does that excuse the kiss? does that mean soo was wrong for being shaken by her visions? does that justify claiming ownership of someone and forcing yourself on them? of course not what the fuck. there’s nothing to excuse such behavior. but it is a violent way of trying to hold onto something you’re losing. we’re not supposed to see it as this great romantic gesture. it’s sad, it’s pathetic, and it’s extremely in character for wang so. he’s lashing out, something not uncommon for childhood abuse survivors. and it’s gonna be something he needs to overcome. he’s not there yet, which is understandable, especially since he’s still in a pretty damn abusive environment. i’d be a little annoyed if they did away with all of that simply because he fell in love with someone, because that implies that an abuse survivor needs only a significant other to be “fixed” and that’s not true. it takes time, years upon years of time. but look at where he was in ep 1 - he’s grown so much since then. but he still has a long way to go, and this is one way of showing that.

please stop acting as if this scene is “person a is evil and person b is an angel sent from heaven above”. please don’t write the scene off like that and ignore the episodes of character development and growth between these two. please don’t pretend that good and bad aren’t happening on both sides and that both characters are handling extreme trauma in questionable ways. please stop forgetting about how much abuse and trauma are shaping their decisions and are ingrained in their personalities. these are not two dimensional characters and this is not a two dimensional scene. please stop trying to oversimplify it to avoid being problematic. it’s a problematic scene - let it be.

mmmmm i've been stalking to your blog and I'm confused why WS deserved better lol just asking, I just want an answer no hard feelings 😀

Heya~

Lets see, 4th Prince Wang So deserved better because:

His mother completely destroyed his face and as a result he lived his life being treated like a monster.

He was abused his whole life

He was caged up and starved on a regular basis

He was left to die on a mountain full of wolves

He was isolated by his family no matter how much he tried to make amends

He was shunned by his brothers and treated like an outsider

As soon as he had a shot at happiness he was turned into the King’s dog

He was forced to kill his own brother

He was forced to marry Yeon Hwa

His surrogate father, advisor, best friend and his lover all left him for things that were not his fault.

He was seen as a villain for having traitors punished whilst the actual masterminds behind the treason were seen as heroes.

He lost the love of his life without ever really getting a chance at being with her

He suffered over and over having to protect those who were on the throne - and almost lost his life on numerous ocassions.

He didn’t get to meet his own daughter until a good couple of years into her life and then couldn’t be with her

Essentially, Wang So deserved better because at the of the day every single crime that was committed on the show was either thrown onto him or completely absolved with them having a tragic hero’s ending.

Wang So deserved better because people like Wook were painted as fallen heroes who redeemed themselves without actually doing anything and their victims (Baek Ah and Hae Soo) thinking highly of them. Whereas he ended up being blamed for all their crimes.

Wang So suffered time after time since episode 1 and yet till the very end, no one could fully recognise it and he was left alone. Whilst people like Wook died with people at their side.

His - The Wolf and The Lamb

“May my life’s breath find refuge in your heart, destroyed in your love, may my life depart.”

Wang So’s and Hae Soo’s ill-fated love story in Goryeo comes full circle as So spurs his horse on, rushing to Hae Soo’s side one last time. While she’s spend the last months of her life waiting for him, just like she had spend the previous years. Even after she left him, her life has been centered around him. Soo might have escaped the Palace, but she could never escape her lover, could never be free of him because they are eternally bound. Her memories of him, her visions of him by her side have kept her alive each day; the thought that she’s carrying his child and the hope that he would one day return to her gave her the strength to survive each new day. The first time she had arrived to Goryeo she wanted to survive only for herself, now she is living for him and their unborn child. In the end, WS truly has been Soo’s lifeline. But he comes too late because without him she couldn’t last even a one whole year, far less ten; because she spent all her lifeforce on giving birth to their daughter - TO PROTECT THIS LITTLE PIECE OF HIM. And so she draws her last breath wearing So’s lotus hairpin, the token of his love that marks her as HIS - HIS lover, HIS friend, HIS queen, HIS partner, HIS equal, HIS wife, the mother of HIS child,… -  and listening to the song that made him realize he loved her what seems like an eternity ago.

“Soo may be dead, but she’s my person.”

Even after her death Wang So can’t let go of his Soo, his sun that has burned out. He keeps clinging to her ashes, just like he keeps clinging to the memory of her. Theirs was a love doomed from the start, and not only because Soo’s been always living on borrowed time (he kept her alive and protected her all this while) and just like the sun and the moon during the eclipse they could spend only a limited time together. He was the wolf who fell in love with a lamb - a predator who fell in love with a healer. She had woken up in the body of a girl who had a heart condition, later her body went through cruel torture and hard labour which shortened her life span even more. She never belonged to this world to begin with; its air was like a poison which slowly killed her. Wang So, on the other hand, WAS BORN TO RULE THIS WORLD - almost since birth HE’S BEEN TRAINED TO ENDURE, SURVIVE AND DEFEAT HIS ENEMIES. His body and mind is too much resilient to give up.  A POISON IS LITERALLY COURSING IN HIS VEINS, he himself is the deadliest weapon - HE IS SCARRED INSIDE AND OUT BUT THOSE SCARS ARE ONLY A TESTIMONY OF HOW MUCH HE’S SURVIVED, A PROOF THAT WHAT DIDN’T MANAGE TO KILL HIM ONLY MADE HIM STRONGER - AN INVINCIBLE KING THAT CAN’T BE CONTROLLED BY ANYONE. Because how can you defeat or control a man whose heart and soul died together with the woman he loved?

Hae Soo’s name

Unfortunately, meaningful details like this most of the time are left unnoticed by the international audience, it just simply gets lost in translation.

In mandarin chinese Ha Jin’s Goryeo name means tree, at first look, it seems that there’s nothing special about it, however, it means a lot. Throughout the drama, we learn that Wang So is very fond of plants and trees because in his lonely days when he was abandoned by his own family in Shinju, among the people who not just hated him but constantly tried to kill him, without any friends or relatives, trees were his only friends. Young prince learned how to befriend trees, treat them as they are living creatures. He advises Soo to not carelessly water the garden but give every tree a name and make friends with them. At first, Soo thinks that So is just making fun of her, but then he tells her about his favorite birch that he had to put on fire in order to protect himself from wolves, another example of how So always gives up on things that he loves and cares about. Another remarkable moment was on Wang Eun and Park Seon Deok’s wedding. When all brothers were gifting newlyweds royal presents as silver, expensive fabrics, pearls - So’s gift is a tree that blooms flowers and bears fruits. When other brothers provided some materialistic goods that they think will come in handy for a new family, Wang So thinks about the spiritual aspect, about something that brings emotional comfort. Maybe it’s all because of his past. I can imagine him as a teenage boy, who when he has an opportunity, leaves the Kang’s residence, maybe to train with general Park and when he needs to rest, he sits under a tree. And at that moment they are no pain, no suffering, just wind blowing around him and spreading flowers’ and fruits’ aroma, it soothes him, comforts him, gives him warmness that he extremely lacks. That what Soo became for So. With her he could be himself, forget about the weight of his problems and worries. She brought him peace and calmness, accepted him for who he was, became his true friend and love of his life. How symbolic it is.  “Whenever I come to you, all my problems seem to become lighter.”

Dropping the Mask

Wang So’s final moment in the story with him REVEALING HIS SCAR really does complete his journey in many, poignant ways - from covering his scar to revealing it, from self-loathing to acceptance. The last moment when the audience sees Wang So’s scar for the one last time is a direct parallel to the time when we and Hae Soo saw it for the first time - back then he was ashamed of it, back then he tried to cover it and to hide it - it made him immensely self-conscious and vulnerable. Back then, he was looking at Hae Soo and this time his piercing gaze once again belongs to HS even if she isn’t there. It’s as if So was able to look through the space and time separating them and find her in the future, just like he is promising her that he will one day.

This time we get the same extreme close-up of his face - but he isn’t self-conscious nor vulnerable anymore. I’ve read some comments that Wang So couldn’t love himself the way he was until the very end, but that’s not true - HE IS ABLE TO ACCEPT HIMSELF JUST THE WAY HE IS, BE IT HIS SCAR, HIS FEELINGS, HIS FAILURES, HIS ACTIONS. And even without HS by his side he’s able to become of one the greatest kings in the Korean history, even with all the terrible things that happened to him, even with all his scars.

The Titanoboa, Is A 48ft Long snake Dating From Around 60-58million Years Ago. It Had a Rib Cage

The Titanoboa, is a 48ft long snake dating from around 60-58million years ago. It had a rib cage 2ft wide, allowing it to eat whole crocodiles, and surrounding the ribcage were muscles so powerful that it could crush a rhino. Titanoboa was so big it couldn’t even spend long amounts of time on land, because the force of gravity acting on it would cause it to suffocate under its own weight.
