Can Al pacino in a hoodie shut the fuck up and let me live?
Sketches by Bengali film director/artist, Satyajit Ray for his unproduced THE ALIEN. Late 1960s.
At one point Peter Sellers was more or less attached, Steve McQueen and Marlon Brando were interested, but Ray got scammed by his representative in Hollywood and the project unfortunately stranded. Ray later believed films such as CLOSE ENCOUNTERS and E.T. especially were directly inspired by his work, as mimeographed copies of his script were freely floating around in Hollywood.
I first came across this story in a biography on Peter Sellers that I read in the late 1990s. I remember thinking, I wish I could read Rayβs script, see his sketches. Well, long live the Internet. Thereβs a book on the episode now too (image 3).
A point of light appears as a reflection in the water, grows bigger and bigger until the pond itself is lit up. The chorus of frogs, crickets and jackals grows in volume, and is joined by a humming sound. In a blaze of light something descends on the pond, shattering its placidity.

ΰΊ―Β π΄Β Β Β !Β Β Β Χβ Β want to glow up and look unrecognisable for the summer? this post has been designed perfectly just for you πΒ
this post has been divided into 3 parts.

SAY BYE BYE to the old you, you are no longer the things you call yourself. youβre not ugly, stupid, lazy etc. you will no longer look up at that mirror and tear your beautiful self apart, thatβs all in the past.
weβre going to stop those habits completely they do nothing but bring us back and withhold us from our true power, we are so much more than the hurtful words we call ourselves :)
optional, but you can write down all the bad habits you want to get rid of, and make a promise to yourself that you will put an end to those self-destructive habits.
β§ β again you do not have to, some habits are a difficult process. you can make a promise to yourself that you wonβt let those habits bring you down and you will continue thriving no matter what
SAY IT HERE RIGHT NOW:
βπ ππ ππππππππ πππ ππππ πππππππ ππ ππππππ β
AND AGAINβ¦
βπ ππ ππππππππ πππ ππππ πππππππ ππ ππππππ β
WITH ALL THE POWER AND DETERMINATION!

ππ. ππππ πππππππ :
self concept is the foundation of everything. its how you view yourself and how you view friendships, relationships, life..etcetera!
changing your self concept doesnβt have to be challenging and difficult it is so easy and simple
hereβs an example
if you think that you are unlucky, ugly, stupid and that no one will ever love you those thoughts will reflect in your 3D. you will find yourself in circumstances because of your thoughts.
you can change all of that in a millisecond by deciding that you have the best self concept in the world, you are more kinder to yourself and start practicing being kind to yourself
instead of tearing yourself apart you start telling yourself βi am going to be kind to myself today, i find that my features perfectly suit my faceβ
if you want to be beautiful you have to change your inner thoughts. it all starts with mindset first, never the other way around.

πππ. ππ-πππππ ππππ πππππ :
okay so youβve done your detox, youβve stopped entertaining those habits and youβve finally recognised your worth and got your self concept back on trackβ¦its time to rewrite your story.
so who do you want to be? donβt be afraid and i actually recommend that you go extra as much as you can. want a totally new face? THATS TOTALLY EASY. want to have tiny ass waist? THAT IS SOO EASY TO MANIFEST. want the best pinterest summer ever? THATS SO ATTAINABLE!
write down or take a mental note of your goals <3 tick them off as you go!
ππ. ππππππ πππ πππ πππ ππππππππ πππ :
okay so this is my favourite part, you are going to APPLY everything you know about the law, everything you know about how to create your dream life and JUST DO IT. youβre going to take that leap of faith and watch the results blossom right in front of your face, youβre going to be so proud of yourself this summer for persisting and seeing yourself become an unrecognisable queen.
so on that mental or physical note youβve created youβre going to become that person..EVERYDAY! youβre going to think and feel and embody that person that you want to be. youβre going to compliment yourself in the mirror, youβre going to think beautiful thoughts, youβre going to get lost in conversations with yourself about how amazing you are. youβre going to dance and twirl in your beautiful summer dresses about how you have the best self concept and the best body..best EVERYTHING!
if i wanted to be a top A student who can balance a social life and studying amazingly i would have thoughts like..
βlook how amazing i can balance a social lifeβ
βwhy am i so amazing at everything i do?? its crazy how i have the most amazing friends and still have time to study and achieve my goalsβ
get rid of self-destructive habits
change your self concept
rewrite your life! who do you want to be?
BECOME THAT PERSON
canβt wait to see all your glowups, love you..MWAH!

Morning π
Too many people believe that everything must be pleasurable in life, which makes them constantly search for distractions and short-circuits the learning process.

I have no idea where Iβm going with this post but I want to say that Sourav Dutta deserves more credit for his research on some of the less researched Bengali books and authors. He had multiple blogs which are all absolute GEMS and if you are into Bengali literature you should totally check them out.
He restored and compiled many illustrations that are unavailable now, which is like really cool. Like original illustrations and headpieces from the magazines where those stories and novels were first published, or illustrations from those tiny hardcover anthologies that were popular before samagras were a thing, all that.
Thereβs also a lot of information on those books in his blogs, on both canon info and publication history and itβs like. Really interesting. I recently found out he died and I just wish I could have talked to him. I did talk to him in the comments of one of his blogs when I first discovered them a couple of years back, but still. I think he would have been great to cultivate, tbh.
Iβll link the blogs that I know of so everyone can pay a visit.
Blogus is a miscellaneous blog with pages on many books and series, including Ghanada, Tenida, Harshabardhan-Gobardhan, Kumar-Bimal, Mejokarta, several Bengali translations of Hound of the Baskervilles and many others, pages on authors, illustrations of books, comic adaptations including a comic of Charmurti that came out in Jugantor in the 1970s etc. Thereβs even a page on the song Bhajahari Manna. Itβs super interesting.
Ghanada Gallery has illustrations and covers of the Ghanada stories, publication dates and information on the illustrators.
Tenida Treasury is the one Iβve frequented the most for obvious reasons, and it has a lot of good shit, but especially a chronological list of all the Tenida stories which I donβt think exists anywhere else. And all the illustrations and trivia are very cool too.
Manoranjan Museuem is about Manoranjan Bhattacharya, the author of Hukakashi. Thereβs not only illustrations but also ads and reviews of his books and a lot of general trivia.
Tagging some Bengali mutuals @travalerray @a-dragon-under-the-stars @your-favourite-skittles @slytherclaw-lair @half-assing-things101 @infp-denofdreams @grace-k-sterling @arachneofthoughts @goblinisjustahumanoidgremlin @carpeposterum @bongboyblog Iβm really sorry to bother you and Iβm not even sure if all of you are into this incredibly niche stuff, I just want people to see this. Feel free to ignore.
