the idea that you can buy milk at the grocery store seems just so self evident. it's hard to imagine the time before pasteurization and refrigeration were common, when the milkman would come by your house every morning and lactate into a bottle for you.

Okay, I get people are angry and scared for a lot of extremely good reasons but those posts that are like "we survived one Trump presidency, we can survive another" are not trying to erase the people who DIDN'T survive, they're trying to keep people from fucking killing themselves right now.

A lot of very scared people are currently struggling through relapses, depressive episodes, breakdowns, and suicidal thoughts at the idea of another Trump presidency. If you can't say anything about that without making them feel more hopeless and terrified, then keep your mouth shut.

A few years ago the nature center I volunteer at had a racoon that kept making its way into the dumpster, earning it the name Dumpy. One of the staff drew Dumpy, but I don't have the picture

Voting "For" this referendum will remove the phrase "and every person who has been naturalized" from this section on voter eligibility in the NC constitution. This could place the future voting rights of about 400,000 naturalized US citizens in the state in jeopardy.

Just a reminder - it's already illegal for non-citizens to vote! There's no evidence that this happens in significant numbers anywhere in the country, and North Carolina has restrictions in place against it happening at all, like the voter ID law that's now in effect.

(The voter ID law disproportionately affects POC, as well as transgender voters, both of whom are more likely to vote Democratic as well as lack the needed ID, but that's another post.)

Voting "Against" on this measure will leave the state constitution unchanged.

I’ll never understand why anthropomorphic animal cartoons like Robin Hood and Zootopia will go to the trouble of creating character designs that are meant to be understood as “attractive” or even “sexy” to the human audience but explicitly avoid showing interspecies romances between anthropomorphic animals. Why is THAT weird but, like, trying to make rabbits recognizably sexy-coded to humans isn’t?
