Yeah and another fun thing is when someone speaks to me and I understand perfectly what they said but I can't for the life of me identify what language it was in
What they don’t tell you about speaking multiple languages is that your brain does not in fact have a box labeled Spanish and another one labeled German. Instead it has a box labeled “Not English” and sometimes when you’re talking or writing in one of the languages you speak it will just start pulling random words from that box.

I love how much Dulcie cares for Eddie, and I love seeing the reasons why she feels that way, what it is about Eddie that she responds to. I really got such a physical sense of Dulcie, from reading this, of how she feels in this situation -- her intense need to find Eddie, to make sure Eddie is okay. This whole fic really made me go "Oh, my heart."
These two. I love them so, and @groovebunker has captured them so well, here.
Also: many of us have written fics in which Cath gets her shit together, and I like those; but I also like seeing Dulcie notice the ways Cath is really not behaving well, in this moment. Cath in canon is very unskilled, and it's refreshing to see that acknowledged.
Ugh. This really is just so lovely, and it really stayed with me after reading. Go read, enjoy, comment. <3 (Previously: Deadloch fic rec list)

Rogers himself was often labeled "a sissy," or gay, in a derogatory sense. But as his longtime associate Eliot Daley put it: "Fred is one of the strongest people I have ever met in my life. So if they are saying he's gay because...that's a surrogate for saying he's weak, that's not right, because he's incredibly strong." He adds: "He wasn't a very masculine person, he wasn't a very feminine person; he was androgynous."
In a 1975 interview for The New York Times, Rogers noted drolly: "I'm not John Wayne, so consequently, for some people I'm not the model for the man in the house.
In conversation with one of his friends, the openly gay Dr William Hirsch, Fred Rogers himself concluded that if sexuality was measured on a scale of one to ten: "Well, you know, I must be right smack in the middle. Because I have found women attractive, and I have found men attractive.
Michael Horton, the voice of Neighborhood puppets and a close Rogers-family friend for decades, notes that he is always asked first about Fred Rogers: "Was he really like that?" End first image description.]
