You guys they've started regularly playing Foundations of Decay on my local rock radio station (which I have never previously heard play MCR) and anyways it just came on the radio and I'm currently sitting in my car at our town's drive-in ice cream stand blasting it, which I know we've been having that conversation about not playing your music loudly in public but. This feels like my duty as an MCR fan. Lol. Anyways, I don't know how to handle this being a song I just hear on the radio at random now, I'm not prepared for this, lol.
Like when I was first listening to it, I did think to myself "this has a bit more of a mainstream rock sound to it. I wonder if the rock stations will play it" but like I'm still a little surprised that that actually happens now and I can just hear MCR unexpectedly outside of a Hot Topic.
(And I don't mean it as a bad thing one way or another that this is more mainstream rock sounding than the other stuff of course; it's just a difference I noticed. )
Anyways in other news I met another roller skater at the tennis courts tonight, making her the first fellow roller skater in my town I've met, and I friended her on facebook, so I officially have a roller skating friend!! So I'm having a pretty rad Friday night overall :)
THIS IS A TUMBLR HUG! PASS IT ON TO 10 OF YOUR FAVORITE FOLLOWERS AND DON'T BREAK THE CHAIN! HAVE A LOVELY DAYš
Awww :) Thank you, this is sweet! Hugs are nice <3Ā
Iām not actually certain I have 10 followers who arenāt bots, but... Iāll try!
Ā (I just checked my follower list and it says I have 30, but I only see 16 names listed and at least five of those are clearly bots... thereās also a few Iām not sure on... So, if you get this and youāre not my follower, or if you are my follower and not a bot but you donāt get this, sorry!)Ā
I figured Iād go ahead and reblog the updated version, because it is rather relieving to see the inside looking recognizable, though damaged.Ā
(Also, I ramble about guilt regarding what I do & donāt reblog after the cut.)
Of course, people are also posting now about other important fires in culturally significant buildings that have happened recently and asking why this one is getting all the attention; and, of course, as bad things happening in the world right now go, there are doubtless a great many of them doing more immediate harm to people. Obviously, humans are more important than buildings. In short, itās making me feel guilty that this is basically the first news story Iāve shared on my tumblr, and there are probably more significant things I shouldāve reblogged in the past. I mean, Iām pretty sure I still have things about the recent floods not far from us in the midwest sitting in my drafts somewhere. The fact is that typically I take a long time to process a post, because I am the sort of person who takes a long time to think through what I want to say--and then I probably say too much, but I still always feel like Iām never saying everything I mean to or would like to.Ā
In short, I am not the blog to follow for timely commentary on things, because I take weeks to process the average post. The first Notre Dame post I shared just struck an ideal storm of coincidences for me to have the time and motivation to post it in a timely manner. When there are other terrible things going on in the world that it seems I should be posting about, know that if I have heard about them, then I likely care about them and am praying about them. There are just always so many things. This is why my prayers so often escalate toĀ ābless everyone, God, because everyone is dealing with something or another that is troubling them in some way, and everyone needs youā. I know I really should be more specific in my prayers, but itās also true that everyone needs God, and the more I hear about the problems of the world, the more people I feel the need to pray for, and so thatās where I wind up.Ā
Since my firstĀ āin shortā didnāt work, Iāll try one again: in short, I see these things and I care about them, and Iām sorry if my reblogging isnāt always balanced towards the most important human disasters. This is foremost a multi-fandom blog, and maybe I shouldnāt have dabbled in news at all, but this one just struck me for a moment.
Sorry this post devolved more into my guilt about all the things I donāt reblog rather than an update on Notre Dam.Ā
notre dame is burning.
this is ok.
it has happened before. it will happen again. it has been lost before. it will be lost again. and again. and again. and again. art and architecture are transient, and temporary, and 850 years may seem like a lot to the individual, who will live maybe 100 if they are very lucky and very healthy, but even the pyramids at saqqara have only existed for about 6000 years and thatās still not all that much, if you consider the grand scheme of things.
yes, this is terrible.Ā as someone who is deeply religious and literally a professional historian with a focus on art and architecture, this is terrible. im mourning. im gutted. im horrified and upset and miserable. but.
itās not over.
victor hugo wrote hunchbackĀ because notre dame du paris was in the process of collapsing and falling apart, and revitalized the entire worldās focus and love for this church, and that was not even 200 years ago. it led to it being renovated.
the roof has fallen in. the scars of fires are on its buttresses. the rose window has fallen out. the beams and piers have collapsed. the spire has toppled. the stones have suffered, and will suffer again, but it is not gone.
renovation work is essential. sometimes things collapse and burn and break and have to come back. itās not a terrorist attack, itās renovation, an accident, but we have so much evidence, history, carefully documented everything on one of the most studied places in the world.
itās not the end.
I'm in a musical (Bright Star) and the first show is in literally two minutes so I made a blinkie in my terror
My gosh this is super fun. I went and looked up Rex Velvet, too, and his videos are hilarious. Like you said, he doesnāt seem to have done anything truly villainous, at least not in an illegal sense, but he seems to have distributed theseĀ āSuperheroes not welcomeā posters. Itās interesting that he seems to be pro-police, actually, so heās not nessecarily promoting villainy, just denouncing vigilantism (and brandishing weapons in a vaguely threatening manner, but other than that).Ā
But yeah, the videos turn out to be sketches more than anything, but itās still really fun. Itās hilarious how he keeps calling Phoenix Jones and crew nerds when he appears to be out-nerding them by leaps and bounds. I mean, heās sitting there straight up drinking Firewhiskey, and apparently he has a DeLorean? Heās a ridiculous nerd and I love him, even if I donāt nessecarily agree with his anti-vigilante stance. (I mean, thereās pros and cons. We can discuss the legal/functional implications of vigilantism another time.) Anyways heās also thrown a super swag villain party and he has cat-minions, so.Ā
(This is his intro video with the firewhiskey, his anti-Phoenix Jones premise, and his vaguely threatening weapon brandishing. This one introduces his anti-superhero poster campaign, also featuring the DeLorean. Here is the sketch with his totally not photoshopped cat minions (that might be spoilers, sorry), which is probably the funniest of all of these, and here is his villain party, with some villains who are more swag than certain others.)
Also there were links in the comments section of the first video to more articles about Phoenix. I started reading this interview and it was quite interesting--it explains how he chose his name, for example:Ā āPhoenix is my son's name, and Jones is the most common last name in America, so I did it for my son and for the common person.ā But then I got distracted by Rexās nerd-swag villainy and I didnāt finish reading the article. Phoenix seems really cool, too, though.Ā
Washington State (not DC) is the only state in the union where you can legally have a fistfight with somebody (with police as referees) to settle your differences
Ooo I love it! It really has thatĀ ācalm moment in the midst of stormsā vibe, like I feel the tranquility of the moment but also the tinge of melancholy that comes from the constant danger of being a Killjoy. It has a soft bittersweetness.
Anyways, future me here, just combing back through my drafts for anything with a Christmas vibe. I spotted the Christmas lights (and, once I increased my screen brightness, Poisonās sweater). So, have some Christmas Killjoys :)Ā
FINISHED FINALLY Gee and Frank as Party Poison and Fun Ghoul at the California desert
I love it, itās like theyāre all Harry Potter newspapers! Actually I bet the editors of the Gotham Gazette and the Daily Prophet would get along fairly well. Well, the Gotham Gazette is probably a bit more accurate, but clearly they still love some sensationalism. Anyways, this is some very clever editing.Ā

Speaking of sharpie tattoos, the way Gerard and Lyn Z used them to write messages back and forth to each other on tour is adorable <3 I had heard that the lyrics to Summertime came out of this exchange, but itās super cool to actually see pictures of it.
I wonder if thereās a story behind the unicorn shirts or if they were just being funky.

Returning to the matter of my phone screensaver, I have actually done a separate home/lock screen for the first time, and this is now my lock screen because I was just in a Spicy Watson mood when I was setting my screensavers.Ā
Iāve also had a lot of wanderlust lately, and itās just about exactly a year ago right now that I got home from my study abroad in London (and other places in the UK, but the longest portion of it was in London). At one point I stood in almost exactly the spot this picture wouldāve been taken from if it was a photo, in fact--well, not precisely at this angle, but along the walkway by the river near the London Eye.
I know itās meant as Sherlock fanart, and I can definitely hear the theme song playing in my head as I look at it with that in mind, but I love that itās also subtle enough that it just makes me feel like Iām there. I donāt know if there are any Thamesside hotels in the right spot to have this view, but the purpley-sparkly sky makes me feel like Iām sitting on the crisp white sheets of a bed in the window of one such hotel room, gazing out against the fading light of the sunset as the stars slowly come alight during a power outage apparently because you could never see that many stars from there sorry I know this is no time for realismĀ and the hum of the street begins to dull for the night, giving way to the rustling of the river. Itās just very tranquil when Iām not overanalyzingĀ it and transportive and, again, purple is my color so itās great for that too. Thereās just a particular, unique feeling to sleeping in a hotel in a city, and this piece has that feeling to it.Ā
Inspired by Sherlock!

My mom asked me to knock a spiderweb down for her the other day (she's very afraid of spiders and I kinda like them so I'm the household spider deal-wither) and I was like, "but mom! Free Halloween decorations!"
It's still up. For now, at least.
the spiders in my house watching me put up spider webs as halloween decorations
My gosh this is so beautiful! It does an excellent job of echoing the videosā color palette while still creating its own vibe, and I just love how soft yet realistic the drawing style is.
I love how art can inspire other art. And man, those music videos were a ride. I wish they hadnāt killed off those characters after just two music videos; they were pretty compelling and it wouldāve been cool to see more stories from them. But they sure can tell a story.Ā
Which, speaking of, it was interesting to see the elements that were reminiscent of Umbrella Academy in those storylines. I also watched a video about the struggles Gerard went through in the earlier days and I have a deeper appreciation for the connection he must have with Klaus. Itās fascinating to string all of this together.Ā
But yes I have many feelings for this gorgeous Party Poison <3
IāLL HOLD THEM BACK š«š§Øš£
Welcome, dear traveller, to our fantastical lande shrouded in swirling violet mists. Here we study how stories shape our lives, how words weave wonders before our eyes. Here we are enamoured of love and the connections betwixt people. Here we seek daring adventures in our wild lande, delving into the unknown at every turn. But mostly, here you'll find my obsession with any number of things, like Doctor Who, the Vampire Diaries, or any number of others from the ever-shifting tide of obsessions through which I cycle.
