I was just rereading the Beatrice Letters and I must say, taken out of context especially, some of Mr. Snicket’s love poetry is really dark and intense.
Also, as a southerner,
is similarly ominous.

Okay, so I'm finally catching up on Dracula Daily (I got like a month behind somehow, which I know sort of defeats the "daily" of it, but I'm working on it) and anyways I'm just now reading Jonathan's June 29 entry, and--
"The last I saw of Count Dracula was his kissing his hand to me"
Did Dracula just blow our boy Jonathan a kiss??
I suppose it's likely some other old-fashioned gesture that I'm not familiar with, but then again, it could well be the blowing-you-a-kiss gesture in a mocking way ("with a red light of triumph in his eyes, and with a smile that Judas in hell might be proud of." I do love that description.) I feel like there's something I might be missing here but right now I'm definitely picturing Dracula blowing Jonathan a wicked little kiss.
Yes, this is definitely my favorite Gerard hair :) The color, the shape, and the softness are all on point.
Day 57: “Sniper”
I’m feeling such secondhand bittersweetness right now; 100 episodes of an awesome show is a great accomplishment, and I’m happy we got this far. All the same, I can’t help that endings are always sad--like, I’ve heard that whole “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” quote, and I often think about it, but still. But at the same time, the end hasn’t even properly started for us yet; it’s just over for the actors and camera people and such. I imagine the editors have a fair amount of work ahead still (shoutout to my editing peeps ;) (I work as a video editor for a local historical society)). Still, I’m glad I found Gotham when I did, and it’s been a fun ride.
I mean, it’s crazy because I just started watching this summer, but it’s cool to be here now to go through the end as part of the fandom. It’s rare that I’m caught up and active in a fandom, especially at such a climactic time. I mean this was a couple of days ago now, but still. In the broader span of fandom history... I was here, watching as Gotham ended. I feel like I’m standing with my fandom dramatically perched on a rooftop gazing into the sunset as chaotic explosions bloom around us in the encroaching night.

Happy 100th episode, @GothamOnFox! 🦇 .

The more I think about Victorian Christmas traditions and Spike, the more I wonder whether this may’ve been a Christmas party. It probably isn’t, given the lack of Christmas decorations, and I suppose there are plenty of other occasions for which Victorians might throw a party, but I still enjoyed the thought of it being one as I imagined it yesterday. (Also, even if it isn’t one, I’m quite sure Mr. William Pratt would’ve also gone to Christmas parties, and they probably would’ve looked a lot like this but perhaps with a few more pine boughs and red ribbons.)
I also recently discovered this podcast from the Weird Christmas blog, which has fit well with the cravings for Victorian Christmas traditions Spike's awakened in me. I already talked about Spike and Christmas ghost stories, in this post and a bit more in my tags on my reblogs of that podcast on blagueofchaos, but another thing mentioned in that podcast was Victorians playing hide and go seek at a Christmas party. I would just like you to join me in imagining sweet little William the Bloody playing hide and go seek at a fancy Victorian high society Christmas party.
I just... I really love pre-turn Spike and thinking about him and Victorian-ness and Christmas things.

Me, when my cat is bathing my face and tries to slip me tongue: Look, I love you with every desperate inch of my soul baby girl, but not like that.
It’s been unseasonably warm this weekend in Iowa and I’m having dreams of a grand garden this spring (the kind where I'd never actually be able to keep it all weeded, but a girl can dream; I’ll probably end up with at least a few herbs and some pumpkins and peppers, though).
I’m also getting really into the idea of making one of these super cute faerie gardens. They are adorable and fantastic and I want one. I’ve been shopping for fairy houses and I have far too many tabs of them open.
I lowkey want one of those "live laugh love" type house signs that says "come freely, go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring" for the entryway of my house someday. I think it'd be hilarious, but it's also lowkey a nice greeting in its own way, if perhaps mildly ominous... What a nice way to set a welcoming vibe! ;)
Happy Mother’s Day, Loki! Haha :D
I really love how this artist managed to take Loki’s wild, chaotic, Ragnarok-inducing menagerie of mythological offspring and somehow make them actually super adorable. I love the contrast of myth-Loki’s children with movie-Loki, too. This is beautiful, adorable, sweet, and hilarious and I love it.
Also I love imagining the confusion of people only familiar with the movies wondering how on earth Loki is a mother... Welcome to Norse mythology ;)
I may have a bit of a weakness for Loki with his kids. Okay, a HUGE weakness. And, really, it may be for all Supervillains with their children cause I always had a major thing for Lex being cute with Kon when I was in SV, hmmm…^__- Alas, as popular as preggers!Loki is, him with his kids doesn’t seem as common in fic…:-p
Welcome, dear traveller, to our fantastical lande shrouded in swirling violet mists. Here we study how stories shape our lives, how words weave wonders before our eyes. Here we are enamoured of love and the connections betwixt people. Here we seek daring adventures in our wild lande, delving into the unknown at every turn. But mostly, here you'll find my obsession with any number of things, like Doctor Who, the Vampire Diaries, or any number of others from the ever-shifting tide of obsessions through which I cycle. My more-used sideblog is blagueofchaos if you ever wish I posted more :) She/her, 28
