I made a mini Christmas comic based on Tracy’s Christmas ‘Tannebum’ comic and the aftermath of said comic.

(The walking angel topper and the bruised jester went on a little Christmas dinner afterwards.)

This was supposed to be posted on Christmas 😭 so it a bit rushed. Also hi, it’s been awhile 😭but I wanted to make a small comic with Maríanne and the Lackadaisy gang.

The hands you see in the two frames though are some friends of hers that I have yet to introduced (except for Delilah ofc)

I’m sorry I haven’t been posting Maríanne a lot, life and school has really been keeping me busy but I’m still gonna try when I can!! :>

This may seem silly but this is what I needed to hear in 2016, so I’m going to say it now. It’s okay to feel hopeless or angry or scared or betrayed or even just mildly nauseous. However you feel is the right reaction for you. You’re just not allowed to kill yourself. You are too good, too valuable, too important for this to be the thing that takes you. Yes the world is a mess, but taking one good person out of it isn’t going to make it any better.

So take care of yourself. Wrap yourself in that blanket. Get that hug. Eat that mug cake. Find your life preserver whatever it may be and keep going. You are stronger than you realize.

Deciding to do something when you’re feeling defeated is hard. If all you can take care of is you today, focus on doing that. Tomorrow or a week from now you can look at what your community needs to do to weather the storm in the long term. Yes communities are hurting now, but having to grieve one more person isn’t going to make anyone’s life any better. Please keep going. Please don’t let this election take you too.

In the 1920s $10 is about $150 according to Google, so she would jump off the Mississippi Bridge into to the river.

In today’s times, if you make a weird drink mix she’d drink it for $10.

But if the mix is downright horrendous, she’ll put you in a headlock or one of those twisty wrestler moves until you cough up an extra $5, $10, or $20 (or all three). 😭😭

@ahhhh-118 was very gracious and let me copy her idea for halloween. @rudnitskaia also helped me with the last line of the poem, thank you so much!

I based Åse’s appearance of of Nøkken from Scandinavian folklore. I compare Åse lot with folk myths and creatures, most specifically with changelings. But Nøkken is also a good comparison. With it being associated with water and shape shifting.

I also like the symbolism of Åse kind of embracing the dark and the water. He isn't a naturally mean or bad person I think but he has been treated like an outsider most of his life, which was very dehumanizing for him. After he ran away from home and lost all the people in his life that actually treated him with love and respect he just gave up and accepted his own inhumanity. Being in the water kind of symbolizes him reclaiming the darkness and surrounding herself with it.

The composition itself is based on this Theodor Kittelsen illustration. This was especially fun for me because I was personally horrified of Nøkken when i was little. It didn't help that I grew up near a lake. The Kittelsen painting being a big reason why it freaked me out so much.

Translation: Greeting/Hello from the window!

I was inspired by this photograph to draw something including Åse and her mom. They had a morning ritual where Åse would sit on the windowsill and Solveig would brush her hair. Åce is a morning person and would be raring to go while his mom was still waking up and sipping coffee.

I wanted Åse to look like hes waving his hand so enthusiastically that he might wall of which Is why Solveig is keeping her hand around him ready to catch him if he falls of. I also wanted Solveig to look a lot more tired that Åse. Shes more hunched over her hair isn't properly set up and her eyes are tired. In comparison to Ace who is wide awake and smiling. In the color version of the picture I made them wear green clothes even though their primary colors are red to make the stand out from the brownish red wall more.

Since my OC Mantis got a little attention here, I might as well draw some new concept art of him. Just a practice for his personality.
