I do have a question. It’s something a struggle with and wanted to know how you keep it from happening.

I know you have made this comic. But I am curious. How do you keep motivated to just, keep writing for it? And when you are writing do you plan several pages ahead, like what you already want to go down and how it should happen? (Sorry if that’s confusing I am trying to explain it the best I can)

Typically, and ideally, when writing a script, getting it fully written first before tackling the art is the way to go. I didn't do that. Since I went about it a nonsensical way, I'm loosely following along a bunch of key story beats but otherwise totally rewriting my story for a comic format. I've written as much of it as I could, throwing down those train tracks as the train continues rolling forward, though at this point I've bought enough time to write in a much less panicked frenzy. So, basically, to answer your second question, I've written full chapters ahead of where we are in the comic right now. I hope this answer can be understood by anyone besides me, the alien goo monster attempting to pass along thought to human written speech.

Now, as for the first question;

Motivation is a tough thing to wrangle. When I feel motivated, it's normally because I've gotten to an exciting part of my story and I can't wait to share it with my early readers. That feeling within me was the demon that had me bang on my keyboard until I ended up with three full chapters (3-5) written. It's a demon that may help you (though there's no guarantee). As someone who probably has undiagnosed ADHD, lemme make that suggestion for you. Try finding an early reader who you feel would enjoy your work. Even if that early reader is, like, your mom or something. I dunno. I share Infested with my mom.

I Do Have A Question. It’s Something A Struggle With And Wanted To Know How You Keep It From Happening.

or maybe don't share your script with your mom i dunno.

But! Uh! Yeah! I hope you can take anything positive away from this answer!

In general, what is your favorite aspect of Rogue, design/personality-wise?

She's got this ruthlessness to her that comes up every once in a while in media outside the games that I think is BONKERS every time it does, like she'll go from 0 to 100 SO fast and it's SO funny.

I think one of the most heinous things she's done was in Sonic X when she triggered Shadow's PTSD ON PURPOSE to get away from him

fucking foul

As part of her social media detox this girl on YouTube made herself do one hour of understimulating tasks every day and she just counted rice for 60 minutes straight because its no different from doomscrolling in terms of wasted time

Including police procedural, sci fi, horror, urban fantasy, courtroom, gangster etc. seriously some of the best shows ive seen and streets ahead in quality than any english speaking shows ive seen in years.

🌿 My Name is Rola, and This is My Story 🌿

I never thought I would be writing this. I never thought I would be begging for help just to keep my children warm, just to feed them one more meal. But here I am, reaching out to you, because I have no other choice.

My name is Rola. I am a mother of two beautiful children, and before October 7th, we had a life filled with love and laughter. We had a home. My children had their own room, filled with their toys and drawings. We would sit together on our balcony, drinking coffee in the early morning light. We had dreams, just like any other family.

But in an instant, it was all gone.

🌿 My Name Is Rola, And This Is My Story 🌿
🌿 My Name Is Rola, And This Is My Story 🌿

A missile struck. The earth shook beneath us. The air filled with dust and fire. My husband and son ran, stumbling over each other in terror. I stood frozen, the ringing in my ears drowning out my own screams. Our home was shattered—windows blown out, doors ripped from their hinges. And when I looked outside, our neighbor’s house, a place that once echoed with children's laughter, was nothing but rubble and ash.

That was just the beginning.

The bombs never stopped. Every night, I held my children close as the sky rained fire. The sound of explosions mixed with the cries of mothers searching for their babies in the darkness. I covered my children, whispering words of comfort, but how do you comfort a child who is terrified of dying in their sleep?

We had to leave. We walked away from everything—our home, our memories, the warmth of our life before. My children left behind their favorite toys, their books, their safe space. Now, we have nothing.

🌿 My Name Is Rola, And This Is My Story 🌿
🌿 My Name Is Rola, And This Is My Story 🌿

No home.

No food.

No clean water.

No way out.

I went to buy sugar the other day. It cost $20 for just a kilo. Food is disappearing, and the little that remains is impossible to afford. Every day, I fight to find just enough to keep my children alive.

I am exhausted. I am scared. I need your help.

I never imagined I would have to beg for my family’s survival. But today, I am.

Please, if you are reading this, help us. Help me save my children. Help us find shelter, food, a way to rebuild even a small piece of the life we lost. If we ever have the chance to leave, we need support. If we are forced to stay, we need a home again.

Every donation matters. Every share helps. Every voice that speaks for us keeps hope alive.

💚 Please donate if you can. Share our story. Help us survive. 💚

Doing an experiment: I have made a new nonfandomspecific blog for reblogs and conversations and etc. because I've come to be dissatisfied with my general internet persona being tied to the gimmick of 'LOTR character I didn't realize was quite that unpopular until it was too late'.* This blog will be reserved for its original gimmick from now on (such as: reblogging Grond), unless I give up. if you want the url to my new blog send an ask!

LOTR stuff will all stay here.

*there are things I saw when the game came out that I have never quite forgotten. Don't read YouTube comments

22 Storytelling Tips from Pixar

Waaay back in the olden days (2012) Pixar storyboard artist Emma Coats gave some amazing writing tips. I love these and have read them dozens of times.

#1: You admire a character for trying more than for their successes.

22 Storytelling Tips From Pixar

#2: You gotta keep in mind what’s interesting to you as an audience, not what’s fun to do as a writer. They can be v. different.

#3: Trying for theme is important, but you won’t see what the story is actually about til you’re at the end of it. Now rewrite.

#4: Once upon a time there was ___. Every day, ___. One day ___. Because of that, ___. Because of that, ___. Until finally ___.

#5: Simplify. Focus. Combine characters. Hop over detours. You’ll feel like you’re losing valuable stuff but it sets you free.

#6: What is your character good at, comfortable with? Throw the polar opposite at them. Challenge them. How do they deal?

22 Storytelling Tips From Pixar

#7: Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard, get yours working up front.

#8: Finish your story, let go even if it’s not perfect. In an ideal world you have both, but move on. Do better next time.

#9: When you’re stuck, make a list of what WOULDN’T happen next. Lots of times the material to get you unstuck will show up.

#10: Pull apart the stories you like. What you like in them is a part of you; you’ve got to recognize it before you can use it.

#11: Putting it on paper lets you start fixing it. If it stays in your head, a perfect idea, you’ll never share it with anyone.

#12: Discount the 1st thing that comes to mind. And the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th – get the obvious out of the way. Surprise yourself.

#13: Give your characters opinions. Passive/malleable might seem likable to you as you write, but it’s poison to the audience.

#14: Why must you tell THIS story? What’s the belief burning within you that your story feeds off of? That’s the heart of it.

22 Storytelling Tips From Pixar

#15: If you were your character, in this situation, how would you feel? Honesty lends credibility to unbelievable situations.

#16: What are the stakes? Give us reason to root for the character. What happens if they don’t succeed? Stack the odds against.

#17: No work is ever wasted. If it’s not working, let go and move on - it’ll come back around to be useful later.

#18: You have to know yourself: the difference between doing your best & fussing. Story is testing, not refining.

#19: Coincidences to get characters into trouble are great; coincidences to get them out of it are cheating.

22 Storytelling Tips From Pixar

#20: Exercise: take the building blocks of a movie you dislike. How d'you rearrange them into what you DO like?

#21: You gotta identify with your situation/characters, can’t just write ‘cool’. What would make YOU act that way?

#22: What’s the essence of your story? Most economical telling of it? If you know that, you can build out from there.

Hope you liked these!

Update on the situation today

Thu, 16 Jan

After the ceasefire was announced here in Gaza as we saw in all the news agencies, joy and hope filled our souls again 🫂🙏

But unfortunately it was a tough night for us due to the intensification of the raids on our area.

We had started sleeping at 10:30 pm, but we woke up to the sound of the violent fire belt that shook the area, the house and the walls.

When I heard the sound, I don't know how I controlled myself and my nerves to protect my son Tim from the severity of the blow, as the huge windows of the house collapsed on us, and I don't know how I was able to pull Tim from under the large windows, but unfortunately his eye was injured and he started crying and screaming 😭😭

Imagine with me how a five-year-old child wakes up to this panic while he was sleeping and he was sharing the atmosphere of joy with us at the completion of the deal and he was saying to me: Mom, I want you to dress me in Eid clothes, it's over because the war is over 🥲🧸

This is the treacherous Tatar army that surprised us.

I've had enough of this nonsense and my heart no longer has the patience to see me and my family's tragedy, panic and fear of who I will lose!!

I will not get tired and I will not get bored of asking you for help. It's true that I was shy, but it's my right and the right of my child and my family to live in peace.

I don't want all of this to accompany me for life and I don't want these memories to be the only ones in my son's mind!! I won't put myself in anyone's shoes, but if I could help someone or a family, I would do what I can 🙏

Here we are on the verge of opening the crossing in the coming days and I haven't even reached the minimum donations that would allow me to travel to survive Each one of us needs about $5000 to get us to safety, we are now staying at a friends house and when the war is over they will go back to their house and we will go back to the street again, unless you help us with donations to get out of here

Remember well, I have no housing or anything left!!

My only chance for me, my child, and my family consisting of my son, husband, mother, father, and brothers is to travel because all our belongings were completely destroyed.

And your prayers for my child's recovery 🙏🧸 And please support my campaign and share it with your friends.

Idea for a Ratchet and Clank Spinoff game about Dr. Nefarious- Part 1/2

Idea For A Ratchet And Clank Spinoff Game About Dr. Nefarious- Part 1/2

Imagine this: Takes place after Rift Apart and involves our beloved doctor trying to learn how to be a good babysitter for Lawrence's baby (Seeing as how he clearly cares about the child), as well as getting into various absurd shenanigans in the process.

Idea For A Ratchet And Clank Spinoff Game About Dr. Nefarious- Part 1/2

Along the way, he re-encounters his dimensional counterpart, Emperor Nefarious, who bafflingly appears to have survived his final fate in the last game (And been spat back out into Doc's dimension), although now as a severely pitiful and broken shell of anything resembling who and what he once was, unsure if he wishes to live or die, but always remembering (Consciously or not) what our doctor told him about success.. Perhaps.. he could...try.. a different way to live? What else does he have left? Physically, imagine C-3PO in ESB after he was blasted apart on Cloud City (This will be important, later), except worse, and Emp. Nef's body, as damaged as it is, being generally held together by wiring, however loosely. Not much he can do, if anything, to defend himself.

Idea For A Ratchet And Clank Spinoff Game About Dr. Nefarious- Part 1/2

By all the laws of the universe, he should be dead, and yet... Fate, however merciful or cruel, has brought and left him at the doctor's mercy. Not to mention, ALL of Doc's instincts should be screaming at him to finish this 'emperor' once and for all (For GOOD this time), as proper supervillain etiquette would dictate.. But, for whatever aggravating reason or inclination, he doesn't, ugh.. "Whatever", he tells himself, I can always kill or torture him later for catharsis or stress release, and, um... Maybe he could pacify the baby too while I'm gone, keephimfromwailinghisheadoff-" BAH, there's no time for this! He's on a tight schedule, and infant food as well as other supplies aren't going to simply appear out of thin air for necessity's sake (If only), so he drags the broken emperor back to his not-so-secret lair, still unsure what to do with him...

Live footage of Dr. Nefarious dragging 'Emperor' Nefarious back to his still fairly devious abode.

TO BE CONTINUED...
