some of yāall bout to be real mad at me. but it must be said. some of the shit u call corny/cringy is actually just genuine/cute/sweet and yāall r just afraid of expressing any type of positive emotion
yes? yes.
In E8, In-ho holds out his hand to Jun-ho and says, "Let's go." ("Come with me. That way, you live.") Instead, Jun-ho refuses, gets himself shot and falls off the cliff.
In E9, Gi-hun holds out his hand to Sang-woo and says, "Let's go." ("Let's go home.") Instead, Sang-woo sacrifices himself.
They just have to hold out their hands to each other...
not to be that person but there're moments in this scene, during their car ride in season 2 where in-ho comes pick gi-hun up, that feel so intimate to me?
in-ho personally dressing up and traveling from the island just to come pick gi-hun up himself even if he doesn't have to at all
in-ho deliberately choosing the same limo he used to drop gi-hun off that day to pick up gi-hun again (meaning he remembers which car he rode with gi-hun 3 years ago after gi-hun won his first game)
in-ho asking if gi-hun's plan was to 'kidnap' him (ooh kinky)
in-ho asking if gi-hun has seen the matrix (classic question to ask while on a date: 'have you seen this movie?')
also I donāt think in-ho was being sarcastic when he told gi-hun he genuinely āwanted gi-hun to have a good life and be happyā and in order for gi-hun to be happy, he wanted gi-hun to āforget everythingā in other words, he wanted gi-hun to forget him (romantic or not, he cares and wants gi-hun to have a good life and be happy, and if being happy means gi-hun forgets about the front man then so be it)
bonus:
why the fuck do they talk like an old married couple where gi-hunās the wife who always wins every argument and in-hoās the husband who lets his wife win all their arguments just to keep her happy????š

this parallel is scaring me because if it was done on purpose then I fear there's a possibility that in season 3 we will see a fight between gi-hun and in-ho (like gi-hun and sang-woo in the final round in season 1) where in the end gi-hun refuses to kill in-ho (I doubt gi-hun will outright forgive him, but maybe he will try to tell in-ho to go home to jun-ho, that it doesnāt have to end in death) and when gi-hun tries to offer his hand to help lift in-ho up, in-ho will pull the same stunt sang-woo did and kill himself to maybe save gi-hun or jun-ho. something about "small sacrifice for the greater good"
:(
translate:
gi-hun: sometimes i think i can still hear his voice
sang-woo: gi-hun, you gayass idiot, the frontman is standing next to you!!!
It's a pity he didn't get through
i want a post season 2 groundhog day type fic where in ho dies and then gi hun gets trapped in a time loop of that day and eventually he realizes that the only way to exit the time loop is to save in ho so he tries to save him over and over again and slowly falls in love with him in the process.
My headcanon is that this is the moment in-ho started taking an interest in gi-hun:
Because it was such an unusual thing to do. An unusually kind thing to do. In a moment where you couldn't really blame anyone for pairing up with someone they thought would help them survive (most people would prioritize their own lives in this moment, it's completely natural), gi-hun instead chose to extend his hand to the elderly man he had befriended because he couldn't bear to see him left alone without a partner. Even if it meant gi-hun himself would be at a severe disadvantage for the next game.
I like to think this is the moment that made in-ho pause and realize there is something different about gi-hun.
Hey so like I really donāt appreciate being called out like this/j
Pros of hyperfixiation:
Happy!
Art ideas
Life is good
Cons of hyperfixiation:
I am going to blow up
All my art is of the same guy
If I don't think about this 24/7 I get violent
the best pairings always are
And Sangwoo is Inho if he let his humanity win. Both are smart, I bet in 2015 Inho could figure the games out just like Sangwoo did. Just be real, he climbed corporate ladder, he IS manipulative (need to work on his jokes though) I can see he pulled the trick Sangwoo did to Ali. Looking at how he subdued Thanos (well, hello avengers), he can fight well too. The only thing that didn't make him has the same faith as Sangwoo is he didn't have someone like Gihun in the game.
Sangwoo knows how kind Gihun is, and he trusts him that he will help his mother after winning the game. He knows Gihun won't kill him and no matter how Gihun tried to stop the game, they might kill Gihun or both of them. He does what he should do and it's the best win-win solution. Even if he won, he was morally corrupted from the start anyway (siphoning money off from his clients to invest in the stock market and futures), it's easy to see him go back to the game as frontman.
We don't know much about 2015 Squid Game but all we know Inho was a family man with one kidney and needed the money for his wife and unborn child. But this is one of the reason why he is the villain.
A hero will sacrifice you to save the world, but a villain will sacrifice the world to save the person they love.
[On a date]
Gi-hun: I love murder mysteries
In-ho, trying to impress him: I've been a suspect in a lot of murder cases
This is actually so peak what
ranting about the way bnha ended, copied from my comment on ao3 because it's too good not to share.
it's been HEAVILY discussed that the epilogue chapter was neither written nor drawn by horikoshi and it's suspected that he didn't want to do it. the publishers wanted to tie up loose ends and he was like "absolutely not" and they said fuck it, we'll get someone else to do it. i mean, the art doesn't even look like his at all, and the plot points covered are RADICALLY different from everything he set up and built out.
ESPECIALLY katsuki's arc. that boy was evolving faster than a pokemon with a rare candy addiction, proving that not only was he intelligent and powerful enough to be a top-5 hero, but he was growing into a more considerate and mature character, learning from his and other's mistakes, turning inward to examine his own fears and biases. he's been a number one fan favorite every single year since inception. to shit all over him like that at the finish line was the worst, dirtiest, most disrespectful thing anyone could have done.
as for the world changing after the war, i call bullshit. how many heroes turned their backs on their career? how many criminals were let out from the max security prisons? how many innocent civilians had their entire lives completely uprooted and destroyed, lost people they cared about, because of shigaraki? big fucking deal they won the war: how much of the country was irrevocably fucked because of it tho? people don't endure that much trauma and just magically go back to status quo. people don't get lectured by a couple of teenagers about heteromorph lives mattering and immediately clue in like "shit, yeah, you're right."
that's not how reality works. and for someone like horikoshi who was building this long slow burn of "not all men are created equal," to have it turn out like a 90 minute direct to video disney fairytale is insulting. we know damn well the reality around inequality is systemic and deeply entrenched in society. what i expected from the epilogue was:
"the war is over, we're rebuilding and trying to heal the millennia-old ecosystems that were wiped from existence, because we're japan, and we care a lot about that kind of thing. the hardest part of repairing this country is fixing its people; so many have suffered deep loss, have been terrorized by ptsd, are listless and drifting like ghosts unable to find meaning in anything worldly again after so much death and destruction. it's a daily struggle to save people from themselves when their darkest thoughts manifest, or when their grip on reality falters.
now more than ever, we need heroes to watch over and help people move forward into a more tolerant and open-minded future--for heteromorphs, and for the people with unusual quirks or no quirks that might alienate them from society. we know now to what ends a person who feels so ostracized will go to--it takes a village to raise a healthy, happy child, but if that child is turned out into the cold, he will burn the entire village to the ground to feel even a little bit of warmth.
i won't let that happen again. WE won't let it happen again."
--and deku never loses OFA. biggest beef of mine ever with the whole ending. (that and, people being all self-satisfied that "izuocha confirmed" is """real""" because they got the equivalent of a doujinshi make me so annoyed. you'd really throw the entire manga under the bus just to get that pathetic non-crumb? please. love yourself better than that.)
allmight gets to see his protege-sons become grownass heroes revolutionizing the world and leading the charge towards FURTHER EQUALITY. he himself knows damn well what it's like to be born quirkless and what that does to a person, and seeing His Boy accomplish what he never could makes all his agony and physical deterioration completely worth it. "look at him, nana. look what we made."
ALSO. there's an insidious problem in japanese society that's glorified in their media regarding one's school years as being the Greatest Time Of Life, and everyone's greatest works and achievements are miraculously done before they're 20 and washed up. ("""washed up""" because once you're out of university, you get a job and that's the end of the line. no more self-development, no more hobbies, no more cool, quirky behaviours. you're a cog in the machine. hell, even haru from Free! says it succinctly: "i can't wait to be an adult. when you're a kid good at something, you're a genius. then you become an adult and you're just a face in the crowd.")
it's really sad and depressing to think that IZUKU MIDORIYA'S shortass life lived like a pariah changed because he got the Special Thing for 3 years and then graduated into the real world and lost it.
fucking. bull. shit.
A guard: You can't kill your own people and follow a revolution against yourself just because Gi-hun had started it.
In-ho: But you don't have all the facts.
A guard: Which are?
In-ho: I'm in love with him.
