The comments under the new HBO podcast episode with Ryan Condal can’t be fit in one post but here are some of them to give you the idea of what’s going on:
In a nutshell, this fandom learned not to hold back from GRRM himself.
The hightower slay genes in action
Little disclaimer:
I know some of my takes aren't for everyone, and that's fine! The world is great cause we're all different. I do not have a problem with people who disagree with what I say, sometimes I can even agree with the opposing side's opinion.
What I do draw the line at are insults. ( especially stuff like kys ) If you start cussing at me for what I say , or gravely insult anyone you're arguing with in the comments of my posts, then I'm going to have to block you.
No warnings, no second chances.
Tldr:
Don't be an asshole, please.
egg ii charmed me with his goofy unserious ass in the trailers
This fandom's romanticization of abusive relationships will never not infuriate me.
It's quite ironic when you think about it. People here always claim to be hardcore feminists who want Rhaenyra on the throne cause fuck the patriarchy, but at the same time they cheer her relationship with Daemon who groomed her since she was little, took her to a brothel when she was still a teenager and aimed to ruin her reputation to marry her and claim the iron throne through her. Like you can't tell me he didn't do it out of spite cause Viserys named her heir, and that was the only way he could get the power he always wanted. All of this is not even the worst part, since he physically abuses her and neglects her after a miscarriage.
The fandom also loves Viserys/Aemma, as if he didn't sleep with her when she was thirteen, got her pregnant repeatedly, ruining her health in the process, and finally butchered her like a lamb at the slaughter for a son.
Lmao honestly I get that a lot of ships in hotd are problematic, and it's super hard to find something pure and sweet, but the fandom really chose to stan the worst of the worst wtf
i actually hate talisa maegyr. i think her whole plot with robb was so stupid. like in the books robb’s marriage with jeyne is this tragic situation that’s really a culmination of the stress and grief that robb has been going through and unable to truly process because he is a child trying to lead his people in a war. he gets injured and then learns that his former best friend has just betrayed him, captured his home, and killed both of his younger brothers which adds to growing list of loss in his life. his father got executed, his sisters are being held hostage, his best friend betrayed him, and now his brothers are dead. so while he’s injured and kind of being consumed by his grief, jeyne westerling is there to comfort him and they do the deed and this only makes things worse because of how robb was raised and instilled with his father’s honor, as well as seeing how jon was raised, robb feels compelled to marry jeyne to preserve HER honor which ends up being his downfall. but nooooo in the show robb falls in love with foreign beauty talisa maegyr and dies because he’s an idiot and couldn’t keep it in his pants. like don’t get me wrong i love robb’s scenes in the show richard madden call me i just think the story could have been so much better and been true to the tragedy that it is in the books.
We've got less than a month to go.

Some four years later:
lol please not you defending Criston Cole for bullying the strong boys but hates on Rhaenyra for not being nice to her siblings. 🤡😂
"bullying" ? really? it's very obvious he preferred alicent's sons and gave them most of his attention when he was training them but i didn't see him bully rhaenyra's sons. i don't think he could have even if he wanted to - rhaenyra & viserys would have him removed from the king's guard for mistreating the princes.
the only prince i saw getting bullied in ep 6 was aemond.
and as i have said in my cole post, i'm not justifying cole's wrongdoings. he's far from perfect.
and lastly, yeah, i think rhaenyra wanting to have her little brother tortured is worse than cole ignoring her sons in class.
Can we talk about how:
Mysaria never got pregnant by Daemon and miscarried?
We never saw Alicent in labour despite of the fact that she's a child bride in a marriage she had no say in?
Laena DIDN'T bear a deformed son that would shortly afterwards die and drive her to despair? Or that we didn't see her want to ride Vhagar one last time and dying on her way there and Daemon carrying her dead body back to bed?
Rhaena and Baela barely got consoled while we get endless scenes of Jace and Luke being attended to?
We didn't get to see Alicent crown Helaena at the coronation before Rhaenys unceremoniously interrupts them? The making of the Queen that captured the hearts of the smallfolk so much that her suffering caused the largest uprising in King's Landing?
Are we going to talk about how all that TOOK from all these female characters to give to a select few (e.g Rhaenyra) so as to market these grey female characters as being more 'sympthetic' than other female characters whose stories were so badly represented or in some cases utterly disregarded and not followed upon (like Rhaena and Baela)?
Peace out.
Mainly a Hotd blog but I also enjoy talking about Asoiaf and Aot. Book!Alicent and Criston slander is not permitted here. 19
