The showrunners really made it so that Helaena who dislikes being touched by even her own mother gripped onto Criston's arm in a moment of danger knowing that she is safe with him and trusts him to protect her which is also the only instance of her ever initiating physical contact with someone on screen and they expected me to not analyze the surrogate father-daughter relationship between them???
Poor kids really, 0 thought was put in their feelings towards their parents remarrying so soon, they deserved better :-/
I will never be over the kids' reactions at Daemon and Rhaenyra's gross Valyrian wedding. Jace looked so hurt. Luke was crying and had to be comforted by the maester. Rhaena and Baela were so lost and confused. Those kids deserved so much better.
Jaehaerys Targaryen died for no reason I guess
Being Alicent Hightower's granddaughter
Being created by Aegon II's sperm
Being autistic
Marrying the son of the woman her father killed in a political marriage
Not making her traumatized husband happy
Having "diluted" blood
Being named after misogynistic King Jaehaerys
The news about Rhaena/Nettles legit managed to erode all the excitement I had about season two during the past few weeks in a matter of seconds.
Nettles is canonically the only non-Targ dragonrider, her story and arc is so important in challenging the beliefs about dragons and Targaryens and blood magic incest that exist in Westeros and among the Targaryens, why would the writers look at such a character and decided to mesh her storyline with Rhaena’s?? Are they just so uncreative they couldn’t figure out something for Rhaena to do in the Vale?? Or can this show only handle no more than three black characters, all the while they continue on cooking up new storylines and arcs for the white characters that don’t exist in the book??
oh yeah also. I will get people in my inbox telling me to kill myself over this, but: I do think that fake murdering the consistent father figure of your children who is a bit emotionally absent but very reliable and a good person and replacing him with daemon is a decision that is going to be bad for those children. even though she does it to elevate her claim. and then having a fourth son who has bright blonde hair and beautiful legitimate purple eyes and naming him AEGON is something that is going to be politically bad for your eldest three suspiciously brunette sons.
luke seems to idolize rhaenyra but i don’t know what’s going on with jace. he does nottttt seem to like daemon and seems very protective of his mother against him, but also knows that she won’t tell him the truth about who he is even though everyone else WILL and I think on some level, he has to have at least considered that she might have killed Laenor. i wish they had spent time on this!!!!
I'm genuinely weirded out by team black fans that are so obsessed with the whole team Nyra vs team Aegon war that they feel bad for liking a character from an opposing faction.
Like those who say shit like:
"Oh Haelena is adorable! She's the ONLY green I like ^_^"
Or
"Aemond is such a hot and interesting character 😍. But g-guys I'm still 100% team Rhae Rhae don't worry about it!"
Bro why are you saying it like it's a bad thing? We're not actually living in Westeros. You won't be thrown in the black cells for treason or something.
I'm personally team green ftw but that doesn't make me feel bad for liking a lot of black characters! It's quite shocking that a lot of fans don't get this. You would enjoy this show a lot more if you stopped mindlessly hating on your "enemies".
Mainly a Hotd blog but I also enjoy talking about Asoiaf and Aot. Book!Alicent and Criston slander is not permitted here. 19
