An Analysis of Rick and His Pursuit of Jessie
It is a truth nearly universally accepted that the Jessie/Rick “romance” from The Walking Dead comic has been fraught with issues – big time issues. I will not catalog all of them as others have written lengthy analysis on the topic (from the sexist trope of women in refrigerators, from the worrying way they portrayed domestic violence, to Rick’s predatory behavior around Jessie prior to learning she was in trouble, etc.). What keeps tickling my brain is: why did they botch it so very badly?
(Note: This is not necessarily a defense of Rick, but rather an alternative way of looking at his behavior. It made me feel better writing it.)

OK, in this week's episode, 'Now', he stumbled, running toward the gate, and actually fell. That's all three episodes he's been in this season. Interesting
I find it fascinating that, in this, season 6 of The Walking Dead, suddenly Rick Grimes is, literally, stumbling in altercations. It feels like it has to be intentional, usually Andrew Lincoln’s fights are really clean, but both the confrontation with Carter in the pantry from the premiere, (‘First Time Again’,) and the fight in the RV in the third episode, (‘Thank You’,) have Rick stumbling.
In the pantry confrontation, after he disarms Carter and turns to face him, it looks like his right ankle twists, and his foot slips under him. Bugged me at the time, cause they usually don’t have mistakes like that? Then in the RV, after he knocks both guys down, and turns to shoot the Wolf in the front, he falls onto the bench on the left side of the RV, pops right back up, and shoots them.
Is it just me, or is that odd?

While AMC has added all of its Walking Dead shows to Netflix at some point or another, its latest addition has set a Netflix record for the franchise.
So far as I can tell, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, the six-episode miniseries marking the return of Rick and Michonne after they departed the original show, is the best-performing Walking Dead series we’ve seen on Netflix.

Who did Negan kill?
First off : The finale of the Walking Dead Season 6 was amazing. America what do you mean when y'all said it was the worst ending ever. It was intense and with a little bit of creepiness. Second : We have finally met Negan who is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and the beautiful yet deadly Lucille. Thirdly : What's going on with Maggie? Now a lot of things could be happening to the farmer daughter. As we all know she is pregnant with Glenn's baby. But after the fight in episode 14 we know somethings could of happened to the baby. She could be having a miscarriage. Maybe the baby had died and since everyone is infected, meaning this baby too, the baby could be a walker and eating Maggie from the inside out. But there has actually been a theory were the food she ate was poisoned. It's been said that the Saviours had poisoned some of Alexandria's food to get the group out so Negan can kill someone and make the group work for him. Fourthly : When Morgan saves Carol from the Saviour we meet to new people on a horses. These people are mostly likely NOT Saviours because they would've killed Morgan for killing the man. The two men could've been from the Hilltop but we know that the Hilltop people don't wear armour when they leave as shown in episode 12 when we first see the Hilltop. These people could be a sign the The Walking Dead are bring in the Kingdom group from the comics. The Kingdom is lead by a man named Ezekiel with his pet tiger Shiva. In the comics Kingdom people wear armour and ride horses. And Finally : Now we are going onto the main part of the episode. The part where Negan kills a character from the group. Now we don't know who the unfortunate person is since it was in the victim's P.O.V and we won't know who the victim is until October. How annoying 😠. There is a guarantee that the victim is NOT RICK OR CARL. We know this when Negan chooses the victim and says - "Anybody moves, anybody says anything cut the BOYS other eye out and feed it to HIS FATHER". Also since the camera is in the victims P.O.V it means it is being shown through that persons eyes. We can see the most to the characters have a few strands of hair falling over their eyes whilst the victim has a clear sight. Plus, when Negan hits the victim the first time we immediately hear a woman or women screaming. This could mean that Abraham was the victim and Sasha and Rosita could be screaming since they have been in a relationship with him. Or it could be Maggie screaming since Glenn might be the victim like he is in the comics. Or the woman/women could just be screaming from shock or sadness. Another piece of information is the Negan calls the victim a "Champ" as he calls Glenn in the comics. This could show that the victim is a male. Plus, if you listen closely you might be able to hear someone or the victim grunting. The victim would obviously be grunting from pain whilst if it was somebody else they could be trying to stop Negan but someone is holding them back. So that's this episode finale broken down. Can't wait for the Walking Dead to return in October and we can finally see who the poor victim is.

The light was so bright it hurt your eyes.
The smell of the hospital room was one you'd never forget. It was your dad's last moments, after all, and the place reeked of death and old perfume. You tried your best to focus on something as silly as the smell to keep you distracted from the scene that was playing out before you. Your dad, lying helpless and stating up at the ceiling as a flurry of doctors rushed around the room and around his bed, yelling incoherent sentences to the others before beginning the procedure. You knew it wouldn't work. He was already gone.
The same light that seemed so bright to you left his eyes and a hoarse sigh escaped his lips. He died smiling and you knew it was purely because he saw your mother waiting for him on the other side.

Your father never had to live in this apocalyptic world, which was a good thing. He had died of a heart attack a few years back and you focused on keeping yourself alive throughout all the chaos surrounding you. You were a different person now then you were back then. You wondered if he'd be proud of the shitty decisions you've made leading up to this point; the way you had to teach yourself how to fight and kill, never letting anyone into your heart and break down your walls. That is until you met Carl.
You had been an orphan after your father's death, going in and out of orphanages and foster homes until the apocalypse hit. You found yourself all alone after that and did your best with what you could to survive with what you had. You had met Rick's group along the way, finding out later that they had just lost their last shelter which apparently was a prison not to far from where you were stationed. An old treehouse.
Why you were remembering your past at a time like this, you didn't know why. You just felt especially nostalgic today of all days and you were reminded of your father because Carl had found one of your favorite CD's while out on a run- The Cure.
Your father had also enjoyed The Cure and it felt even more painful to listen to it today, because of the nostalgia and the fact that you were finally starting to enjoy bits and pieces of what was left of the world without him. You felt guilty. Guilty for letting him die.
No. It wasn't your fault.
But it felt like it.
You pet Carl's hair as he laid in your lap, eye closed and lost in thought as you both listened to the song 'In Between Days' by The Cure. You weren't sure what he was thinking about, but part of you felt as though he was reliving his past and overthinking the his actions too. It was songs like these that made you feel your past creeping up on you again. You didn't mind thinking about your past. Your father had been sick for a very long time. You had killed people before but you would do it all over again to save those you cared about. You wondered if Carl felt the same.
He didn't let anyone into his head. He never had a problem showing emotion around you, he just preferred to lay in your lap as you both reminisce of the way things were before and you glide your fingers through his messy locks of hair. It calmed you as well, being able to hold him in that way, a way he wouldn't let anyone else.
The winter was colder, so often times Carl would make his way over to where you were sitting on the couch and lay his head down in your lap looking for the comfort that only you could give him. Sometimes he'd fall asleep on you but you didn't mind. You were an insomniac anyways, so having something as soothing as Carl's short and heavy breathing as you lied awake helped you relieve the tension of the day.
"Are you still awake?"
The blue eyed boy looked up at you, finally opening his eyes and letting a tear slip down his cheek. He looked beautiful that way. His eyes were stormy and the light shining in through the windows of your living room cast shadows across his face and made his freckles seem electrified.
"Yes." Was all you replied with. It was all you could reply with since you were still zoned out.
He moved so he was sitting next to you on the couch and eased you down onto his lap so he could return the loving gesture. You made yourself comfortable against the cold denim of his jeans and felt his hands run through your (H/L), (H/C) hair.
"(Y/N), I don't know if I've told you this before, but Robert Smith is a wonderful musician. I can see why you and your dad liked him so much." He said, as you started to fall asleep against him.
"Yeah. He really is. This song reminds me of you."
"How so?"
You sighed. "It's a beautiful irony. Isn't it? The song seems so happy and uplifting at first glance, but there's so much meaning behind the lyrics and the more you think about them the sadder the story gets. But it is also beautiful. It's beautiful in the way that it reminds you of all the times you felt infinite, the times your heart was broken, and the overwhelming sense of being forgotten but then remembering how meaningful love is."
He was silent for a moment before he spoke "I've never had someone understand me on a level that emotional before. It's kind of nice being around you. I don't have to say anything and you've already got me all figured out. It's why I love you."
You felt the importance of his words flow through your mind and travel down every part of your body. It was so nice to be told you're loved and not from your parents. You weren't sure if there was a greater feeling then that of being loved. And you were loved by Carl so it was extra special.
"I love you too Carl."
And with that, you drifted off to sleep, Robert Smith filling your ears with happiness and Carl underneath you, rubbing small circles in your hair and making you feel infinite. You only felt infinite with Carl. Next time you listened to this song, you knew you would be reminiscent of this moment.

Hearing the gates close behind you and Daryl as you guys make your way to Maggie and Rick who take the dead rabbits and dear you guys have managed to find surprisingly, it took five hours but it was worth it. You and the others meet up to talk about who’s going on the supply run tomorrow when Daryl and Rick say they’ll go and take a couple other men just to be safe,after discussing what’s going to happen, you all head back to your homes for the day. You and Daryl walk inside. Daryl sits down and starts cleaning his bow while you cook dinner for the both of you.

After finishing the food you grabbed a bowl for you and Daryl and sat down in front of him after handing him his bowl. “What time are you guys going on the supply run tomorrow?” You ask hoping he’ll be home by the time you wake up. “Early mornin but I don’t know what time I’ll be back hopefully before yer awake” he reply’s before getting up and putting his plate in the sink after finishing his soup and you do the same and wash them and put them away. “Okay let’s get some sleep then so you can wake up early enough” you say walking upstairs to your room. Taking off your holster with your knife and gun in it, putting it on the dresser and changing into a big shirt and shorts and head into the bathroom to brighten your teeth,closing the door behind you so Daryl can get changed.You come out after hearing Daryl lay down and you go around to your side and lift the blankets to lay underneath them and cuddle into Daryl’s side with your head on his chest. You say your goodnights before falling asleep.

Walking Dead Spinoffs
I'm a big fan of the walking dead in general. I played the Telltale games several times and my favourite character of literally all time is Ben Paul from season 1. I've watched the show dozens of times and it is in my top 3 shows. (Super disappointed with how the new walking dead game came out - loved the concept of changing the story, but the way they went about it was terrible).
But I found the spinoffs incredibly boring. It might have something to do with the fact that you have to wait a week for every episode, so when I find the first few episodes boring, I'm not bothered to wait and watch the next episode when it comes out. (This has nothing to do with impatience by the way, at one point I was watching Abbott Elementary, The Righteous Gemstones, The White Lotus AND Yellowjackets, all of which are fantastic shows and all had episodes releasing every week).
I watched season 1 of Dead City and remember nothing besides the basic plot of Hershel. I do not plan on continuing the show for season 2.
I watched I think the first two episodes of We're the ones who live before I quit, because again, I was incredibly bored. I love Rick and was so excited to see him back on screen with Michonne, but I got so bored so fast.
I watched the first 3 episodes of Daryl Dixon before I got bored and stopped watching, nor do I plan on continuing. I'm also not into the idea of romance for Daryl, which I had a feeling was gonna happen in like episode 1 with the bath scene.
Controversial opinion; but I will literally only watch Dead City season 2, but ONLY IF Negan and Maggie kiss. I fear that is the only way I would ever watch the show again, because it would be the biggest plot twist in the entire universe and the entire fanbase would quite literally implode out of rage.

because I'm physically incapable of writing oneshots, so all my fanfictions are multichapter.
Me realising I wrote 213,000 words and 45 chapters in my twd WIP just to get to the idea that started my entire story. (I'm no where near finished)
Comparing my two TWD fics featuring Ben Paul as a main character
Basically, I've written 2 fanfictions that feature Ben Paul from twdg as the main protagonist. Both are 100k+ words and I only really consider one complete.
(None of these have been published btw)
Story 1 is about Ben surviving in TWD Game. He survives season 1 and becomes the guardian of Clementine & Duck. It was written in 2021 and has not been touched since. Currently, the last chapter is at the ski lodge cabin w/ Kenny in season 2.
Story 2 is about Ben surviving in TWD Show. He joins Rick going to Atlanta and joins the main group. Several characters fates have been changed. It was started in mid-2023 and I'm still currently writing it to this day. Seasons 1-5 have been written, season 6 has just begun.
Below are comparisons I've noticed while rereading story 1.
First person vs third person
Story 1 is written entirely in 1st person. Older me feels physically sick and confused with younger me because why? I cannot name a single one of my WIPs that are written in first person. Story 2 is written entirely in third-person omniscient, which I find a lot easier to read/write.
2. Ben is OOC for the most part
In both stories Ben is more capable as a survivour and is more confident in his abilities and expressing himself. Both stories show Ben learning how to fight walkers early on, however TWDG Ben is more nervous compared to my TWD Ben. TWD Ben is more confident and humorous compared to TWDG Ben.
3. Skipping scenes?
In story 1, I never skip any scenes from the game. Everything has been written exactly how it plays out in the game besides changing certain things like character fates and such. In story 2 however, I skip a lot of scenes because the scene either;
A. Doesn't have Ben in it nor does it make sense to write him into the scene.
OR
B. I did not feel like writing it so I skipped it entirely.
4. Ben's relationships with other survivours
In story 2, I flesh out a lot of the relationships with Ben and the other survivours. I put a lot more detail and effort into developing relationships, but in story 1, I hardly do that. I would say Ben is the closest with Doug in story 1, besides Clementine and Duck.
5. Quantity and Quality
Both stories currently have a word count of over 100k. Story 2 (TWD) has beaten story 1 (TWDG) in the word count, with 150k words. By comparing both of my stories, it's clear that I've put a lot more effort into story 2. There's a lot more detail dedicated to describing locations and characters compared to story 1.
I'm thinking of rewriting story 1 at some point, by putting more detail and changing it from first person to third-person omniscient.
