In the cars movies, cars are the primary form of life on their earth-like world. We've seen that plenty of earth history and stories are reflected there in recognizable ways.
While it never came up in the cars movies, we know what their skinwalkers look like. We have movies and toys and tv shows about them.
Imagine being a car, driving down an empty road at night, when you see a meteor strike not too far off the road. Deciding to investigate, you find a large metal object embedded in the smoldering ground. Carefully approaching, a light suddenly shines from the object and passes over you, before suddenly the metal object falls over and turns into a perfect copy of you, save for a strange purple emblem as a hood ornament. As you back away in fear, it changes again... Into an enormous creature with tree-like growths instead of wheels, standing on two trunks instead of horizontal like most creatures you've ever heard of. This terrifying vertical monstrosity then aims a glowing appendage towards you, before a flash of light and sound sends you into unending darkness.
Back on the road, a car returns from the crater and drives away, leaving a smoldering wreck behind.
In other words, cybertronians, transformers? They're the skinwalkers of the cars world.

The first time D-16 (Megatron) met Optimus was when he was sent to the Kaon arenas.
The arenas were no place for kindness or gentleness, but Optimus always welcomed the frightened newcomers.
When he arrived, D-16 was a coward and no one knows to this day how he survived so long.

This is going on my “things to write/draw after my creative block” list, but consider this:
Megatron near the beginning of the war says “fuck it” and kills Starscream, and everyone just kinda thinks ‘Welp, too bad but he had it coming after those assassination attempts’ and move on
A few days later Starscream is standing in the conference room, pissed but not really phased about the dying part. Turns out he’s been dead for a long time, but his ghost keeps repairing and repossessing his corpse. No one’s quite sure when he first died (he keeps lying about it) but considering the whole war thing they got bigger mysteries to solve
This drastically shifts the dynamic, and now Megatron and Starscream have a mutual “I will jump you at a moment’s notice, but it’s okay we’ll be fine” thing going on
The thing with Galvatron was like an official break-up between the two, because this time Megatron left no body for Starscream to try and repair
SHOCKWAVE AND WHIRL!!
A Dangerous genius from the depths of the nemesis, an unknown danger beneath the depths of their very ship. Whirl, his bodyguard, eyes to the outside and most importantly his consort.
Time to talk about their LORE!
Shockwave awoke, connected to the wall, weak, cold and confused, connected to the wall by cords and wires. So much information was running through his head he had to break free from the wall to catch a break. It took some time The voice’s kept calling him shockwave. It took some time but Shockwave used the database he was connected too to learn the history of the cybertron war, what happened the planet, where he was and most importantly what happened to him. He discovered the decepticons called him shockwave because that’s what they’d call the database ai (similar to Siri.) created by Soundwave. He also figured out no one knew he was in this little room.
It was unknown who Shockwave was before his Empurata ritual happened. He doesn’t remember anything from his past not even his real name. Slowly things here and there would come back to him, memories of his old life, people he cared about but don’t know anymore. With the discovery of cybertrons demise. Shockwave became angry. He want the both decepticons and autobots to die for their war, he knows that their planet may be beyond fixing. He swore a slow revenge for both parties.
But while upgrading and plotting, he started getting some of his emotions, he started getting lonely and wondering if any other Empurata we’re capable of breaking out of their trance.
(Only decepticons have Empurata aka drones in their faction due to have enough resources for them and that they are basically fee labor. Drones are lower class them not really considered alive, so often times they are vehicons or work in dangerous areas. They are lower than servant Class cons)
Shockwave didn’t want to damage any vehicons or cause unnecessary death. So he told himself if he caught one with any hint of life to them he would continue with procedures. Until then he worked on himself and mapped out weaknesses in the decepticon army.
One day he spotted a vehicon looking at itself through windows or lagging behind others. Not entirely paying attention. It wasn’t hard to find him because of the unique markings on its neck. Shockwave stole him away, no one would notice and went though the procedure of waking the vehicon.
The Drone was confused and scared most of the time and barely spoke. Mostly just staying in a corner or looking at their reflection. Shockwave would mostly leave them alone. Eventually tho as the Drones personality began to shine through, they asked questions or make pretty honest remarks, they could offend times be considered rude. Shockwave didn’t care tho, it was nice just to have someone around. Then the Drone personality came back full swing Bold, crazy, honest, crude. Most interesting this mech had no fear. They were also a very skilled and dangerous opponent often pulling insane manic maneuvers when fighting just too win, they were incredibly strong. It was hard for shockwave to keep up. One day the drone remembered his own name, Whirl.
The two work closely together. Whirl pretends to be a regular old vehicon on the surface. While shockwave upgrades and preps their next movie. It’s difficult for Whirl sometimes tho, because he doesn’t take disrespect lightly and he has to keep most of his skills to a minimal level.
Wiring that huge essay didnt make me less horny sadly.

honestly to this day THE most baffling moment to me unironically would be Optimus Prime fucking ballin' i lost my mind at this shit
like WDYM Optimus from the start was actually full of whimsy and silly i didnt know dad had it in him😭😭 i grew up on him being portrayed in media as a very serious i-dont-like-fun but still kind-hearted guy so him being actually good at basketball blew my mind
but honorable mentions would be: 1. Smokescreen goes to gambling planet so he can gamble to save autobots lives 2. decepticons melting Optimus' body and they turn it into a fucking mecha-alligator?? 3. autobots were surfing on waves at some point i think?? 4. god. just. the whole Megatron-transforms-into-a-gun thing. and it was in a literally first episode so my brain was already melted 5. it also gives me a chuckle that most if not in all continuities autobots try their best not to reveal themself to humans, while in g1 they do it all the time and people are VERY chill with giant robots just hanging around with them :D

Nothing wrong with TFA just not being your thing. I just wanted to add that it's kinda what got me BACK into Transformers. What got me really into the TF fandom in the first place was Beast Wars in my teen years (also the first fanfiction I wrote) and I kinda drifted away from it after that. But then I saw toy of Waspinator at Walmart and went "Waspy is in this show?!" I bought the toy (cause Waspinator is baby to me) and gave the show a chance and it reawakened my love for Transformers as a whole. Just thought I'd share

guhh i havent seen Beast Wars😭😭 (and i have no idea if i should watch it) but ive seen Waspinator in idw comics and can confirm that hes a cutie patootie! he doesnt have a lot of screen time but i quickly realized that hes just... REALLY adorable😭 i hate bugs but his wet pathetic loser demeanor have captivated me
