You know, it would make sense if an adaption made Wūzhīqí the mystic long-armed gibbon. They’re both apes for one and super strong for the other. They’d probably be Yuán Wūzhīqí.
YES! Omg that would be amazing to give Long Arms Gibbon some BACKSTORY, especially tied with another powerful (put also unknown) Wuzhiqi THAT WAS TRAPPED BY YU THE GREAT, Wukong's staff's previous owner!!! SO MANY TIES!
I would love more Spiritual Primate material but I have seen Wuzhiqi in only a SINGLE piece of media that funny enough is connected to the Hero is Back (2015) universe!
In the Nezha (2019) movie there was a prequel comic that follows Ao Bing on his childhood adventure to see what happened to his two older brothers and his mother!
Spoilers but his Mother was the one keeping Wuzhiqi at bay.
The poor man is trapped the whole time BUT HE DOES GET TO TALK! Love how they still got his facial expressions despite him being stuck there.
