The ENTIRE code of chapter 1?

Yep, the entire code. It isn't really complicated though, just a bunch of if-else (which my friend commented as "messy"), the difficult part is it's a LOT. So not difficult, but definitely time-spending.

I was wishing it would be variable-point system, those are much more faster to decipher.

I think maybe it's because after looking into the mirror, it's the end of a chapter, an ending. The world is left without any changes after, which would barely count as living anymore, just like you wouldn't call a statue "alive", and yet some part of them are with the shifting mound, alived and scattered.

Oh, that's why people make smut fics of them (or maybe they just like it idk). Them chatting & moving inside head is definitely something I would animated, have that one in mind for a long time!

Might do both split, but I definitely have the punch one in mind. Don't worry, the colour things totally makes sense, I know how to work with that! I probably use mostly grey scales with a tad of color for now. Smitten and energetic voices got more vibraint stuff, while cold and the quiet ones got a more subtle change in colour, if that's ok with you.

How to get different routes

Good news, I got the the code of Ch 1 ! Hooray! It's A LOT, big respect to @blacktabbygames ! Haven't got the time to look into the whole thing but I might in my free time.

We also have fun messing with the settings, where the narrator's "She will lie, she will..." get cut of by my lazy translation of "meow meow meow...". Though my voice doesn't fit so I won't be posting it, well until it fit.

But here's a screenshot of the silly we've done!

Voices aware

It's really interesting how they are aware what have happened! And "everyone hates you" is somehow my favourite ending, I like to imagine the long quiet getting beat up by the voices.

(I wanted to draw everyone but remember I haven't finished designing)

To be honest I'm not sure what "voice gets around" means since English isn't my mother tongue, it's a foreign phrase for me.

I did thought about how the water holds us, but haven't thought of how we hold the princess. I kinda get the feeling, but how to draw us holding her is a bit confusing, maybe like glue? Or broken container?

I think I might draw the first split, it's where all the chaos started LOL but I'm still working on how to draw voices when they have no body and talking among each others, or maybe just the punch scene.

Also, congratulations on releasing chapter 5! It was really fun to read, love the Contrarian's body language (since we finally have some lively body, unlike Skeptic&Cold who has a more subtle ones)

And out the window we go! Yay! I've been waiting for that to happen and it it VERY satisfying :D

Thanks for the confirmation! I like checking out others playthrough a lot, but what I like more is understanding the motive of the player's action, so translating for a friend definitely fun and gives me more understanding on the player's decision. The simplified way my friend got adversary is:

Take the knife (essential)->ask all questions (hesitate?) ->try saving but doesn't bother to fully do it -> slay her (essential) ->persist (essential)

From what I gather, the difference between other take knife choice is whether you go straight for the kill (Spectre), question dead/have knife (Razor), gave up or not (Tower), and run away(Nightmare).

The others are rather clear on what to do, while adversary is a bit unclear for me. The friend of mine knows some coding so I might ask them to look inside for me, to better understand what the creator of the game thinks.

Voice and mirror

Ohh, that's really interesting! I've known about "we've always been here" but never thought of it like that, I would like to imagine as cracks on glasses that are barely visible, but with every death, it cracks and falls off. And the shifting mound use duct tape to fix us lol

I'll first explain the reason for the question:

I like slay the princess-> I want to contribute to the fandom

I draw art, want to be lore accurate->gather info->ask people to clarify info

I was kind of going for a metaphor sense, so I can get a better grip on the character to know how I want to present them. (which is also the exact same reason I haven't made much fanwork lol)

That's why I've asked you on what you think the princess would be. The "I don't think that we are ever in the mirror" reminds me that it's"shard of glass" not mirror, sorry if my bad memory confuses things.

"Everything in there that isn't you is Her" and how she responded after collecting a vessel makes me imagine scattered glasses and hands floating in a growing water, as you collect more vessels, the water eventually grows from ponds to ocean. The changing current bringing the glass piece together and apart (or maybe something else).

After watching my friend play and your explanation, I think I have a grasp on how I want to do. Thanks for giving me your opinion on stp, it really helps constructing what I'm going for! If you see all the strikethrough, don't mind them, it's just my intrusive thoughts.

P.s. I'm going to open some sort of draw your headcannon/fanfic in the near future. Really likes your fics and want to draw them, if you don't mind, is there any specific scene that you wish to be drawn/animated?

I'm really happy that you decided to respond and think about it, and your fanfic is really great, I'd already read multiple times, love how you portray the voices.

Separation of SM & LQ is not clean

I'll be honest here, I haven't seen all of the dialogue with narrator in the confrontation scene, only partially. But I think I've seen someone else also mentioned it? Might have new thoughts after I watch every single of them.

It's really interesting to think that due to a part of her being part of you, you change just like she did. And I hadn't actually thought of them breaking off because you cannot change completely, that's new! :D

I never got a chance to play slay the princess, and only had the chance to engage through playthrough recently, by helping a friend translate.

It's funny how when my friend played the adversary, the only reason they got that path is because since they already start fighting her, might as well finished the job. Not sure if that counts as stubborn, but I guess it's similar? They didn't back out from the fight, and both of them shall perish together.

In the adversary, they were scared of the princess and choose with a careful approach which resulted in the hunted, "Fear is good, fear keeps us alive". But it's also fear that causes us to lose, and gives us the ability to sense.

A few more things that I hope you don't mind sharing opinions on

Does looking at the mirror makes us whole again or is it something else?

If we're in are mirror what will the princess be? (Just asking for art reason)

For anyone who found calling adversary "the kill-love route" weird, it's kinda translated from our language. However the common usage would be of a "love-hate relationship", which doesn't fit adversary route, so I change it up a bit

Not sure if I ruined their experience by saying some weird out of context stuff, but it definitely ease their fear so I'm going to keep doing that >:)

I also watch them play OMORI today, it DEFINITELY ease the fear. I've past out in the middle of the game cause of all the walking, sorry for any OMORI lovers out there

One concept I thought would be fun is that the voices (+ narrator) could show up through the TLQ's shadow when they're talking.

So, imagine this...

*Calls out, “Hey, king. Are you single?” to the vaguely humanoid creature lurking at the base of the stairs*

Guys, why we debating whether or not LQ has or doesn't have a beak when the answer is obvious?

The Long Quiet is as versatile as Shifty. He's like schrondinger's beak. He both has one and doesn't have one until the need arises for an answer. He has one when he wants one, he has none when he doesn't want one.

Based on the Dragon and the Princess ending, I like to believe every single face of the LQ chooses whether they have a beak or not. And thus I present my hypothesis on the beak statuses of our best boys:

Hero has a beak but doesn't know it or consciously acknowledge it, too distracted by the narrative, that's just his nose wdym, he's doing his best your honor

Opportuntist is pro beak, though perhaps he conceals it until he gets the upper hand

Smitten is no beak because kisses, will only manifest a beak by accident when he's being sinister but would never admit it

Cold is no beak since bro doesn't feel enough for a beak to manifest

Broken is no beak, he's too wimpy for a beak - or alternatively, has a beak if his goddess wants it, anything to please her really

Stubborn seems like a beak guy to me. He'd use it to peck the Adversary's eyes or smth, just so long as it's another weapon to bash against his enemy

Hunted probably no beak, since he ain't no animal, but teeth? Yes, necessary part of survival you see

Paranoid probably no beak, too scared of it getting in the way during a crucial moment and potentially blocking that very necessary 3% of his vision and distracting him for a milisecond too long

Skeptic is the opposite, pro beak because he knows it's there and he wants to keep it in sight at all times because if it disappears that shit's sus

Contrarian IS the schrondinger, he is both pro and no beak at all times. He's half beak. He's demi beak. He is MADE of beak. He doesn't even know what a beak is. He threw the beak out the window

Cheated doesn't care about the damn beak, it's all a crock of shit anyway - just wait, he'll have a beak and then suddenly it's an inconvenience, but the moment he DOESN'T have a beak he'll find a reason to need it, just you wait and see, it'll happen--!
