Can you IMAGINE the outrage antis would have if Snape was the one who:
Attacked his crush’s childhood friend unprovoked
Gagged said friend with soap
Hung said friend upside down and exposed their undergarments
Tried to coerce crush into a date with the promise to stop tormenting their friend
Threatened to pull down said friend’s underwear in front of already riled up crowd
They would be frothing at the mouth.
But because it was Mr. James “Blank Slate” Potter, he gets a pass because antis can fill their uwu headcannons into him like how he would have been a feminist HAH.
“BuT jAmEs gReW uP aNd mAtURed bY hIS 7th yEaR”
Umm…no hun, he didn’t. The evidence comes straight from the mouths of Sirius and Remus. You know…his BEST FRIENDS.
He was still hexing Snape behind Lily’s back in 7th year. Whether or not Snape started it first is irrelevant. A mature person would have talked to Lily about what was happening instead of hiding it. Why hide it if you’re not in the wrong?
On another note, NO ONE is really “grown up” at age 17. I’m a 23 year old woman (not that older than James when he died) and I can tell you that there was still ALOT of growing up I had to do when I was 17-21 years old and STILL need to do to this day.
Moral of this rant is that antis are hypocrites and need to stfu.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the fact that Penny Haywood is Pro Snape
Some freestyle Sevvy doodles! Purple really is his colour.
THIS POST IS ACTUAL SO FUNNY AINT NO WAY THEY FR
A comprehensive compilation of why Severus Snape is an awful person that doesn’t deserve redemption, pity, or any kindness ever (not in any particular order):
- He is obsessed with the Marauders when they are younger, and tries to compare their antics to the actions of very real, blood supremacist, dark magic-using bullies that Snape was hanging out with and found amusing. (Edit: I’m adding that I’m not saying James and Sirius were right in their actions, I’m simply pointing that Snape wasn’t either. This post isn’t about the marauders, this is about Snape)
(DH, The Prince’s Tale, p673-674, Arthur A. Levine Books edition)
“‘They sneak out at night. There’s something weird about that Lupin. Where does he keep going?’ ‘He’s ill,’ said Lily. “They said he’s ill—’ “Every month at the full moon?’ said Snape. ‘I know your theory,’ said Lily and she sounded cold. ‘Why are you so obsessed with them anyway? Why do you care what they’re doing at night?’”
- Snape was very clearly trying to out Remus and actively trying to prove his case about knowing Remus was a werewolf. (More on this later)
-Calls Lily a mudblood, and then tries to excuse his actions. Then Lily says “...you call everyone of my birth Mudblood, Severus. Why should I be any different?” Snape says absolutely nothing to defend himself on this statement, so we can only assume that it is accurate and he commonly uses a slur to describe other students around him.
-We know Snape invented Levicorpus, which we later see James use. How do you think James learned it if not because Severus had used it on him or another student before? We even see Snape use Sectumsempra on James. Sectumsempra, aka the spell capable of cutting someone open and leaving them to bleed to death. This is the kind of experimentation Snape did with Dark Magic.
-Snape was willing to sacrifice the life of a BABY without a second thought until he discovered that the child was Lily’s. Even after this, he prioritizes Lily’s life and isn’t concerned whatsoever about the life of Harry, who at this time is less than a year old.
-If Voldemort had decided that Neville was the Chosen One instead of Harry, Severus Snape would still be a death eater. He didn’t think being a Death Eater was wrong in any way- it wasn’t until he was directly affected by a childhood crush did he reconsider. James and Lily Potter fought for the light because they believed in the light. Severus Snape fought against the dark because the dark had offended him. Had Voldemort gone after the Longbottoms instead, Snape would have lived and died as the most loyal Death Eater in history. Edit: I understand that we can say ‘if’ all day long. The point here I’m trying to make is that Severus Snape is only supporting the light side because it benefits him in this situation. I’m simply pointing out that he’s selfish by nature.
-The prophecy states that the child will be born to parents that have thrice defied the Dark Lord. So therefore Lily in some way defied Voldemort 3 other times. And only now Snape wants to save her? No. It has more to do with the guilt he’s feeling for telling Voldemort about the prophecy. It wasn’t her death that phased him as much as how he’d feel if he caused her death.
-Snape hates Harry simply for the fact that Harry looks like his father. Have you ever considered how Harry would’ve been treated if he’d been a girl that looked like Lily? Edit: I AM NOT INSINUATING ANYTHING PEDOPHILIC. I am making the point that when Harry come to school, Snape saw him and recognized his childhood bully, and instead of making the mature decision and not making judgments about Harry beforehand, he just assumes that Harry will be like his father was in school. If Harry had looked like Lily, Snape would’ve been more inclined to favor him the way he did Draco or Pansy. Not in a creepy way, just in a confirmation-bias kind of way.
-Severus snape once intended to publicly kill a student’s pet as punishment for getting a potion wrong. This pet was also a gift to Neville from his Uncle for getting into Hogwarts- something that his family didn’t think would happen because he wasn’t “magic enough”. So to him- Trevor is a reminder that he is a wizard and that his family is proud of him. Then Snape wants to kill him because Neville got a potion wrong, reinforcing the idea that Neville isn’t “magic enough”.
-When Snape covers for Lupin's class (told you we’d be back here), Snape taught the DADA class and made all the students write essays on how to kill werewolves so that Lupin would have to read these when he came back from going through an incredibly painful time.
-Snape did everything in his power to get Remus fired despite the fact that Remus had spent 16+ years pretty much homeless and without a job.
(OotP, Percy and Padfoot, p302, Arthur A Levine Books edition)
“‘I know she’s a nasty piece of work, though—you should hear Remus talk about her.’ ‘Does Lupin know her?’ asked Harry quickly, remembering Umbridge’s comments about dangerous half-breeds during her first lesson. ‘No,’ said Sirius, ‘but she drafted up a bit of anti-werewolf legislation two years ago that makes it almost impossible for him to get a job.’”
Edit: So let’s do some basic math here. This happens in Order of the Phoenix. The anti-werewolf legislation was written two years prior. This would’ve been during or around The Prisoner of Azkaban. Why would somebody randomly write a piece of legislation like this? Let’s just say that there was a teacher that was outed as a werewolf and people were not happy about it. That would give pretty good reason for someone to write a piece of legislation that would make it hard for a werewolf to get a job. Not just Remus. Every werewolf. Who outed Remus to the wizarding world at large? Severus Snape. So for anyone suggesting that what I wrote below is as good as fanfiction, maybe actually read the books and pay attention to smaller plot lines.
-When Snape tells everyone that Remus is a werewolf, he’s not just telling students or their parents. He’s telling the wizarding world. Because of this, Dolores Umbridge wrote a law that made it almost impossible for Remus to find a job. So not only did he ruin Remus’s life. He ruined the life of Every. Single. Werewolf. in the UK.
-Neville Longbottom’s greatest fear is Severus Snape. Not the woman who tortured his parents into insanity, not the worst wizard of all time, not even any of his other followers. His TEACHER. And this is at an age where Neville doesn’t know everything about Snape and all he’s done. That speaks VOLUMES.
-Condones and takes part in bullying a CHILD when Hermione had enormous teeth EXTENDING PAST HER CHIN growing because of a hex, Snape says, “I see no difference.” After this, Hermione permanently modifies her teeth.
(HBP, Snape Victorious, p160, Arthur A Levine Books edition)
“‘I was interested to see your Patronus.’ He shut the gates in her face with a loud clang and tapped the chains with his wand again, so that they slithered, clinking, back into place. ‘I think you were better off with the old one,’ said Snape, the malice in his voice unmistakable. ‘The new one looks weak.’”
-Mocks Tonks when her Patronus changed when she fell in love with Remus despite the fact that his changed to match Lily’s.
-“Snape took the page bearing Lily’s signature, and her love, and tucked it inside his robes. Then he ripped in two the photograph he was holding, so that he kept the part from which Lily laughed, throwing the portion showing James and Harry back on the floor, under the chest of drawers…” She was laughing at her husband and son. People she loved dearly enough to give up her life and Snape took that and cut them out of it so he could pretend she was laughing for him. Her love in the letter was for Sirius who was the best man at her wedding and her good friend in the order. Snape took that so he could pretend her love was for him. This isn’t romantic. It’s creepy. Snape feels entitled to Lily’s love even though he’s done nothing to deserve it.
-The ONLY reason Snape protects Harry is that he’s under an obligation to by Dumbledore (who is blackmailing him, so Snape doesn’t have a choice). Snape isn’t doing it because he wants to. He’s doing it because if he doesn’t, Dumbledore could sell him out to Voldemort and he’d be killed.
-Again, when he kills Dumbledore, it’s not out of the kindness of his heart or his care for Dumbledore. It’s because he’ll be killed or severely punished if he doesn’t.
-Snape may have done good things, but it isn’t because he wants to. It’s because he doesn’t have a choice.
Essentially, at his roots, Snape is a self-centered blood supremacist who bullies people and only does good things when being threatened and emotionally abuses children because he can’t get over somebody he was attracted to in middle school and is perfectly fine killing adults and infants alike when it’s in his best interest.
I’d like to say that much of this is heavily borrowed or inspired by other writers on this app. I have tagged every user I have access to. However, if you see anything you have written on here or anything please feel free to message me or leave a comment. :)

I have been analysing some of Snape’s scenes recently and when I was looking at his very first line in the books, I noticed something that I never really seem to see people point out.
“What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” - The Philosopher’s Stone, The Potions Master
We all know that this scene can be interpreted as “I bitterly regret Lily’s death” but let’s focus more on asphodel.
In the past, asphodel was said to be used as a remedy for venomous snake bites.
What was Snape killed by again? Ah yes, a venomous snake bite. His death was foreshadowed all the back in his very first line of dialogue.
Snape could’ve survived Nagini’s bite if he simply had some asphodel but…
His Lily died a long time ago.
Holy fuck
neville: - stands up to his friends when they’re breaking rules in first year - goes to potions class despite the professor literally being his boggart - visits his parents constantly despite them probably being unaware of who he is - stands up to the death eater responsible for his parents being that way - helped re-form the DA - destroyed the last horcrux with the sword of godric gryffindor
snape: - abused children because they reminded him of a girl he liked - outed remus lupin as a werewolf, causing him to lose a home and a job - ??????
Amen to that
It’s that Snape-haters are a lot more abusive than a mean old school teacher.
Like and reblog if you actually like Severus Snape and think he deserves better. I’ll follow you.
I think I might log off forever infact.
Does anyone have any idea whether Severus' casting is confirmed or not ? Is this a fancasting or is it legit?
sev hit tweet hes so famous
Half of their hcs and fanfics sound something like this
"Okay so! Regulus betrays Voldemort because his love for James shines through,,, hes heartbroken that James eventually chose Lily instead of him and opts to die trying to help him instead of devote himself to Voldey (Kreacher?? whos that???)"
Literally stole their whole damn story? the whole dynamic is snily? and then at the same time they probably portray Sev as some misogynistic asshole like bro your favorite character is a Sev rip off.
im not anti-lily but i genuinely believe that sevs love for lily was more ' this is the only human being that has shown me real love and care without ulterior motives' and less 'romantic'
I despise when people say that Severus wanted Lily to live in order to "take advantage of her emotional state" (btw, thanks Dumbledore) as if hes some giddy idiot with dreams of marriage and a white picket fence. You can say a lot of things about Severus Snape but hes not a fucking delusional fool, even if his love for her was completely romantic he would know that he has no chance especially considering they havent talked in YEARS atp. The truth is, Severus, who fully knows what he has just done is going to damn the only person who has every truly cared about him, was just hysterical. He begs for her because he cares about HER (Now, him not giving af about Harry is pretty fucked, but its understandable why he doesnt give a damn about James) and he is HYSTERICAL. He didnt have some grand ulterior motive. His only thought was to keep her safe, and if Albus wants to pervert genuine care thats his problem, not a reflection of how Severus truly felt imo. He calls her "Lily Potter" he knows there is nothing between them anymore but childhood memories.
ohh i cant believe i didnt see this tweet earlier😭😭 not them implying Sev isnt already yassified
In this essay I will-
"Severus TOBIAS Snape" irritates me to no end lmao
There is not a single ship I like for Severus. Im sorry. It makes reading Severus centric fics so hard but i genuinely dislike every single Severus ship idek why
Severus fighting for his life in the staff gc every time his height is brought up :
Seeing Snape height discourse again and im here to tell yall that man is tiny. hes 5"2. He is a short king with alot of personality idc idc
Im trying to smile.
Snape is half blooded, everyone in the hp fandom should know that by now. So him calling Lily a mudblood isn't a big deal, right? I'm saying this as a black person that doesn't say the n-word because it's more of an American thing (I'm British), but grew up watching a lot of black centred forms of media. With all this consumerism I've come to recognise that anyone who is black can say the word.
"Mudblood" refers to a wizard or witch that comes from a muggle background, it not only refers to muggleborns but also halfbloods. In terms of the blood dynamic I'm using points of history, like how black people were looked down upon but if they were half black and/or lighter skinned then they were sometimes given better treatment. I think someone can explain this better than I can, but I think you guys understand where I'm getting at.
So Snape saying “I don't need help from filthy little Mudbloods like her!” is like saying "I don't need help from bit** a** nig*as". I'm censoring because I don't want to be banned or something.
No one has to agree, it's just something I can't help thinking about and I'm wondering about everyone else's views on this.
Also, the mudblood slur doesn't have the same significance as the n-word. Muggleborns taking the mudblood slur would've been a power move, but no. They just can't stand that word.
I headcanon that American muggleborns (Ilvermorny students) and halfbloods took notes from the black community and use the word for each other. Anyone with no lick of muggle in them gets the sh** beat out of them. Harry Potter and the halfblood Crip.
Thank You for listening to my Ted Talk.
I'm gonna start by saying this is a chapter I wrote on this fanfic I'm writing. I'm really happy with this chapter and I'm wondering about the opinions of whoever reads it. The story is on the Archive of our Own website. It's about Fem Severus Snape who raises the son of Sirius Black and doesn't become a death eater. One of the ships is a one-sided Sirius Black/Severus Snape, where Sirius has an obsession with Snape but she doesn't return his feelings. If anyone wants more context I'm gonna slyly suggest (advertise) reading my story. Spoilers: The son in question is named Caesar and Sirius doesn't know it's his son, but believes it's Regulus' son. Caesar was adopted by Snape.
Have yet to see more obsessed Sirius so I'm writing them myself.
Sirius was at home alone, sitting in the living room in silence downing some whisky. The home in question used to be owned by his uncle Alphard, and while Alphard was a purist and dark wizard, he loved his nephew very much, or maybe he hated Walburga that much. As a final middle finger to his older sister he gave everything he owned that wasn't directly connected to the Black lordship to her most disgraced child. It was weird of Alphard to leave him some gold and a home, but he was always the strange one in the family.
Sirius never understood his dear uncle. Alphard and Regulus had the same doppelganger, and Sirius himself had the face of Sirius the 2nd, and was less like either of them. Walburga also made sure he was a walking copy of her. That didn't stop Sirius from theorising, it helped with his investigation skills.
Sirius always hated the leash she kept on him, and Alphard saw that. Alphard discreetly rejected his own father's ways, in what, Sirius had yet to discover. Alphard taught him well, guiding him on how to piss off his own mother. Sirius did every step in understanding glory. He made it his mission to show her who should be in control by doing the opposite of what she wanted, and while a lot of his punishments included the cruciatus he grew accustomed to them. He even grew to enjoy them. This is love isn't it? Walburga did that to show him she loved him.
So Sirius pissed her off even more. He made friends with a Potter, who came from a light family, and joined Gryffindor house, the breeding ground for blood traitors and mudbloods everywhere. What was great about James is that he wasn't like any other light child Sirius came across, there was a familiarity with him. Sure, he turned out to be equally as dark, but you'd think he'd at least try to be light. Remus as well, who was alright for a half blood. Those were Sirius' thoughts at the time. Who knew there was a beast underneath Remus? Sirius secretly admired Moony, the creature could cause so much destruction, and Sirius honestly believed he should let Moony take control more often.
Why did any of this matter? He was going over what his nephew had told him. He knew what he should do, but didn't understand the steps. Even if the answer was clear it was hard for him to get to the point of it.
I was taught that I was showing love. Sirius thought to himself. I know that everything is wrong now, but how much of it was?
"It's not real love you felt for mum." came a voice in the back of his mind. It sounded like Caesar. His nephew. "I read about it. I've seen it. I've felt it. My eyes don't spark up like yours do when I think of my dear Lavender." Sirius didn't recall his nephew saying those things. "There's no way a crush looks like that. I don't doubt that you loved her, but there was no way everything was love."
The intruding voice said it like an echo.
"Grandma didn't love Grandpa, now did she? She only loved the ownership, the power. She claimed him ever since she first saw him, just like Pollux saw Irma. Just like Cygnus saw Druella." He felt a chill. "Just like you saw mama."
Sirius did claim her, this was true. He decided she was his. His darling. A strong woman to break, and when she starts accepting him into her heart he treats her well. It made sense at the time. Surely it still does. Petunia loves hurting him, she likes the pain too. It wasn't bad for them.
"You're just like them. Your family. Insane, carrying some kind of sickness or oddity. And each curse has a counter to it."
As eager as Sirius was, there was no way he'd bed anyone by the age of 13. Sirius didn't hate muggles. Severina was half blooded, his heart decided she was the one, there was no way. Besides, Petunia... The feelings he felt for her were natural. She made him submit.
"Thankfully for her, too bad for you, someone got to her first. Loved her before you could."
Oh, Regulus. Regulus! That dear little brother of his. Death was announced in the daily prophet, Sirius recalled reading the words. They didn't know who the killer was. And then came Orion's passing. Sirius wasn't invited to the funeral but it was right there on the daily prophet. Right after Regulus' own announcement. Sirius didn't understand why it was important for everyone to see, but it was important for him.
How was it for Regulus? Loving her? Was it natural or was it something else? Did he hurt her? There was no way, Walburga hardly saw the point in Regulus, he had Orion's weakness. What was that weakness?
That's why Regulus never had to apologise. He never hurt anyone, physically. James' wife says otherwise, she believed he broke Sev's heart. Nothing Evans said could be trusted, she wasn't that smart, but she knew the most about Severina's past self. She knew that Severina and Regulus went out. She approved. He must've been good to her if Evans approved.
All Sirius did was hurt her, he would know. He enjoyed doing it. He even made up a nickname for the best memory, she never cried afterwards. He hasn't seen her cry since their first year. Looking back, maybe that was best. He didn't deserve that privilege. Seeing a happier version of her was more preferable. She didn't damn him, but she hid her contempt. He saw it in her eyes but with how unreadable her face was he didn't see it, too busy enjoying her presence.
Sometimes it was like looking at a different person.
What else did Sirius do, to have his own nephew confront him about it? He now concluded the pain part, but there was something else. Something else. Something else.
Wait, that night.
That full moon.
He wanted to share his secret with her.
His best friend, Prongs saved her. That was his fault.
She almost died. He almost lost her, that was him. Sirius could never murder his own wife, but that night said otherwise and Dumbledore did nothing about it. He just made it worse. They all deserved to rot in Azkaban.
"That's right, you're getting there. Keep thinking, old man." came Caesar's voice.
I almost killed her.
"Bingo."
"I almost killed her." he said out loud.
If Sirius didn't understand the saying of blood going cold he definitely did now, as the image of those scared black eyes replayed in his mind.
Yes, I fancasted Aya Cash as fem Snape while she was in her Stormfront attire.
I know no one cares but I wanted to share my opinion to possible listeners. I've read a fair bunch of fanfics where Snape has a son or daughter and the kid only has some of his looks like his hair or his eyes. It's like writers are afraid to make the kid look normal, at least Snape levels of normal.
I have to be specific, but think of how the kid would actually look like. I think the kid should have every right to be as creepy and stern looking as Snape himself, and if it's a girl don't be afraid to give her a hooked nose.
I guarantee that kid is going to look like either Pakunoda or Illumi. If anyone thinks otherwise then they're wrong. I know that it's mostly Snaters that love hating on his appearance and his character overall but I always roll my eyes when his child is given traits that are either predictable, or felt like they came from a teen drama. This distaste skyrockets when they fancast a Vampire Diaries-esk actor.
Write your original character however you want but is it so bad to want to read a story where an author experimented with giving Snape a goth kid, or a kid that practises martial arts. Something wild that manages not to butcher the characters at the same time.
I'm probably being judgemental and I don't mean to bash anyone's original characters or favourite fanfic story, there's even a chance that I'm chatting crap or don't know what I'm talking about, but can we spice things up around here?
I would lowkey read a story about Sirius having a weird obsession with Snape that he justifies by being a bully and realises that he has some kind of attraction to him, that is obviously not reciprocated.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any. How about we make a writing competition? Could be any setting, marauders era or Harry being at Hogwarts. Snape could be female or his canon self. I'm interested in ways many can interpret this, I think there's a lot of potential for yandere Sirius.
Sirius black gets thrown into jail for 13 years, James and Lily die, Remus has to live a tough life.
Me: Ya'll deserved that.
