There's a new toy on board! Introducing BigNap! (Unless a more eloquent name is suggested!)
Sarificed for research and condemned to an unsustainable body, Theodore Grambell's old body has melted away at the hands of Miss Delight and Harley Sawyer. His mind has been reignited in a different vessel - one twelve feet tall and with the power to tear a school bus in half.
But it's alright, because while BigNap may be vengeful and venomous, he's quite the dear little kitty to those dang Smaller Bodies in the Playcare.
So much so that he's introduced in the very first chapter of Destroy-A-Toy! It's underway!
Now, Bigger Bodies Catnap's question is:
(He asks because his debut is in the very first story for DAT and therefore his formatting must be worked out.)
How This Creature Works
Big Catnap, as colloquially named by the Critters, children and teachers of the Playcare, is the new-and-improved replacement for that old, faulty thing who cried too much. He is twelve feet tall and an absolute tank - if you ignore the protruding ribcage and ominous growling stomach.
Appearance
The same as the Catnap found in the original Poppy Playtime. Big Catnap is a large, scrawny creature with a protruding spinal chord and disconcerting slices of ribcage jutting from his paper-thin skin. His eyes are minuscule and set deep into mouth-like sockets. His fur is abyssal-dark felt soft to the touch.
Deep inside his throat, if one were to look, pipes could be found. Who knows what they produce?
Personality
Quiet, docile and allegedly "friend-shaped" (according to my friend Foxfire), this Catnap looks like he can kill you but is in fact a cinnamon roll. At least, to people he likes. Otherwise you can expect yourself to be on the plate.
BigNap is possessive over the Playcare children and loving towards toy experiments - but has a VERY strong hostility to humans. This is an issue because of the upcoming Toy Tour…
Theodore gasses the children not out of obligation but out of concern for their health and sleep.
Biology
A creature of this size requires LOTS of food. The problem is - he isn’t given the correct amount. Why drain resources for an experiment that may not survive anyway? As such, Big Catnap is constantly just one bite off from a full belly.
His tank possesses MUCH greater quantities of poppy gas - however, it’s watered down. The gas:
Takes up to 10 minutes to knock out children and 30 for adults
Does not leach oxygen
Works slowly but surely to lull the victim to sleep
This is NOT how Smaller Bodies Catnap works. Her smoke is quick-working and oppressive while this Catnap works much more as a calm, steady, peaceful lull to sleep.

A BITCH. Nowhere near as innocent and bubbly as they were before. Four years of being treated like a toy plus Theodore’s death turned Ollie cynical. Still retains their old personality with friends though.

Holding Playtime Co. at the THROAT with blackmail. They got a hold of the nearest working phone and threatened to dox every single illegal experiment the company had done straight to the news channel. Their conditions are that they can maintain a position of power at the company and have a say in how the experiments are treated.
Still 4’ tall, still has a child’s voice
NEVER wears blue, red or yellow (minus the jeans). This is to spite the company.
Also never wears shoes to spite the one time Theodore called them a goody two-shoes. Wears Catnap socks to honour his memory

I accidentally foreshadowed events that I didn't even dream up yet
Rereading my own stuff because I accidentally made a mistake in Off to Class. It's a fic dedicated to worldbuilding, character growth and foreshadowing. And holy crap rereading it made me realise just how much foreshadowing there is.
(SPOILERS FOR SMALLER BODIES)
Specifically during Miss Delight's lesson.
"Last lesson, we learned skin is the largest organ..."
Chemical Weapon introduces Ollie, who is infamous for being skinned.
"Without oxygen in your blood... eventually, death."
Catnap uses her smoke to leach the oxygen out of Leith Pierre's lungs and suffocate him.
"Today, we learn the basics of the neck."
The very next fic covers Dogday's throat surgery and breathing collar. Miss Delight shifts the lesson to warn him. This was the ONLY intended bit of foreshadowing in the whole fic...
All of this foreshadows the nightmare that is this thing

She’ll be based off the existing one:
Obviously she can't be identical because this ☝️ is the BIGGER BODIES Catnap. For starters, my girl has short, stubby legs, which that thing… uhh… does not.
In Sugar Breath, her description reads like this:
“A skeleton cat, its fur utterly shed, bones and scars and bruises jabbed all around its papery skin. The creature’s spine shoved out of its back in sharp ridges. Its mouth gaped wide, wider than possible. Human faces bubbled and boiled within its skin. A sharp, angular moon pendant glinted in the sickly light.”
The faces boiling in her skin comes from the original concept for Nightmare Catnap, here:
I personally much prefer this version and want to create something similar to it.
How she works in Smaller Bodies is that, when someone is inflicted with fear and under the affects of poppy gas, they watch her fur peel off and shed, revealing the bones beneath.
She would also keep her jewellery. Here’s a very rough sketch:
So far:
No cheek fluff
Exposed ribs
Extremely sharp spine that extends to the tip of the tail
Earrings have changed (everything’s sharper, the heart is upside-down, the stud is a skull)
Her gentle 🌙 is now more of a jagged ‘C’
Ears are sharper, less fluffy
Claws are very long
Keep in mind that this sketch was hammered out in 10 minutes so obviously it’s missing a lot of details and overall looks very odd.

Okay! Planning time! As of now, Smaller Bodies is 88k words. I’m gonna try to round it off to 100k, though this may a little hard because I still have to get Catnap… apprehended.

My writing’s currently stunted because of Art Fight, but I’m still writing, just slower. Several people mentioned to me that Sugar Breath takes a different approach to the other stories, in which case, thanks! :D Most of it’s been told from Catnap’s POV, but I wanted to check out how the other Critters perceive her.
I might write one-shots to do with more Theo and Ollie because I love those two BUT. As MrMateusz says: TheoNap.

He’s since been moved to the security and electrical departments. Still manages phones, though. And the sick toys. He’s sort of like a cult leader how. Screw with the phone kid and every other toy will screw with you.

You’ll also notice his colours have changed.
Playtime Co. screwed this kid over once too many. Their workers are red, yellow and blue. Guess what? Ollie doesn’t want to be associated with this company anymore. He may not be able to leave the factory but he sure as hell can leave his abusers in the dust. Secondary colours, bitch!!

“Our Station” has been renamed to “Poppies”.
WHY?
The story was originally going to focus on the Game Station, how the child-picking process works, Theodore Grambell’s experience there and the treatment of the toys when they’re not at Playcare.
Three chapters in, I had a mental health crisis. And I do mean crisis. I got suicidal.
I write my feelings through my characters, and Ollie happened to be the poor unfortunate soul who I projected onto. So he tries to overdose on the story and it changes the ENTIRE plot.
I know, I know it’s not planned and the summary/title were probably misleading by then and people probably clicked it expecting some edible content and then squinted and went “hey- WHY THE HELL DOES OLLIE HAVE TEN SLEEPING PILLS -”
That’s why.
So. Since the whole plot changed, so did the name. I don’t want to mislead people. The summary also changed.

Context is I’m working on an Ollie redesign and I proposed it to a discord server with the Lord Farquaad image as in I was giving Ollie the makeover, and it morphed into this somehow
I just realised something really uncomfortable (related to my AU)
So you know Poppy is “the most incredible doll you will ever meet” and “the very first truly intelligent doll that can have a conversation with a child”?
Well.
In Smaller Bodies, Ollie is an intelligent doll, and he came before her.
So Ollie’s whole plastic-skin surgery progress was probably just to perfect Poppy.
He’s like a prototype of her.
Ouch.
Like, imagine being Ollie and looking at your cute little sister and how similar she is to you except her skin doesn’t have the same faults as his, and he just sorta makes the connection that the reason he was tortured and forced into a plastic body was to make room for Poppy. And he’s STILL NICE TO HER.
This is like a new level of being the favourite child…

Hihihi!! I wrote one called Smaller Bodies :) I’m really proud of it so I’d love to share it!!
In a nutshell, a tiny, sensitive and nervous Catnap toy is not placed into the Playcare not with the purpose of being a Smiling Critter, but with the purpose of putting potential experiments to sleep.
Catnap’s treated like a tool to be used during surgeries, but when encouraged and given hope by Dogday, it starts to think maybe it can be its own person.
