River had not had much time to explore town since she had arrived a few months back. Her job kept her busy making lesson plans, grading papers, and coming up with engaging activities for her students.  She had heard people reference places here and there, and felt it was high time she actually got around to visiting some of them for herself.

Having decided to go to the White Rabbit after work was one of the best ideas she’d had in a long while. Upon entering it was easy to see why people liked the place so much. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been individually greeted when walking into a bar (but to be completely fair— River didn’t remember much of anything).

“Poetry night?” River flashed a smile, “I had no idea. How exciting!”

⋆៹ ✩۪۟۟≭  Jenny && River Song

· · ┈─────── ⋆៹ ✩۪۟۟≭ ───────┈ · ·

Jenny didn’t notice River’s being slightly unsettled; she was far too excited about this opportunity. She gave her a big grin at the compliment.

“Oh yes, very. It does leave some gaps though. Given that I’ve traveled so much in the far future from this century, a lot of my knowledge is a bit out of date. Can’t exactly talk about the stuff that hasn’t happened here yet. Except with my dad and Bill. They’re time travelers too. My dad’s like, the expert time traveler. They’re called the Doctor. And Bill was their traveling companion before the two of them got stuck here.”

Jenny took a long sip of their tea. It had finally cooled to an appropriate level.

“What sort of flashes do you get?” they asked.

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River was surprisingly alright hearing Jenny’s tales of time travelling. That is until they mentioned Bill and the Doctor. For a moment, her heart skipped a beat. That couldn’t be right… could it? That didn’t fit, it couldn’t fit. Then again, she didn’t know much about either of their backgrounds. She knew they tutored Bill, and that they had a strange friend named Nardole.

God, when had she become so obsessive about that stupid shop owner? It was unflattering. Beneath her. And yet she was stood like a deer caught in headlights for a moment. In an attempt to cover it, she slowly raised her mug to her lips and took a long sip.

“I, erm, I don’t know really. Gut instincts on things I like and don’t. I denied them at first, but I found them all to be right. Like enjoying this tea over that or liking waffles more than pancakes. Occasionally I see some things from my childhood, but it feels more like a dream. All confusion and people watching me,” River shrugged a little. They got a bit frightening sometimes, but she wouldn't mention that.

⋆៹ ✩۪۟۟≭  Jenny && River Song

· · ┈─────── ⋆៹ ✩۪۟۟≭ ───────┈ · ·

Missing memories. River was missing all of her memories pre Sallow Hills. Jenny was fascinated by this. She knew people with partial memory loss, and had heard about those with false memories and memories completely wiped, but she hadn’t actually gotten the chance to meet someone like that yet. It was fascinating, from a scientific viewpoint at least. Jenny wanted to learn everything she could about this town and the strange things it did to the mind.

“Oh no, it’s exactly what I want to hear!” they said hurriedly, and then bit their lip. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to sound so eager. But the whole memory loss is part of what I’m studying at the Research Center. My main focus is the aspect of people arriving from different points in time, but I’m very intrigued by the memory issues here as well. I would love to hear about these odd flashes and gut instincts… if you’re comfortable sharing, of course.”

Jenny smiled nervously and took another sip of their tea. “To answer your question though, I’m not from here. I think I’m from a different universe entirely actually. I sort of… travel through time and space, looking for people to help and planets to save. Or at least I used to, before I got stuck here.”

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River considered, and gave a nonchalant shrug. “No offence taken. If my memory loss can be helpful to someone, I don’t see the harm in sharing any of my experience.”

She was ever so slightly unsettled by Jenny’s past, purely from a historical standpoint. A time traveler had the potential to disturb the course of history, which River found improper, but she wasn't about to say anything. It didn’t throw her off too much. She had heard about the different universes people here came from many times before.

“That's an impressive resume you’ve got there. I’d assume it’s helpful in your field of work.”

┊   ┊   ┊   ┊   ┊

BILL FELT FRUSTRATED .  no , that wasn’t the right word for it .  It was a jumble of emotions that ranged for sorrow to curiosity to frustration at the world to just plain curiosity .  River Song .  Bill knew she’d travelled with the Doctor ( though she didn’t know to what extent ) .  She knew that Nardole had known her from the way he had occasionally stared at her photograph with sorrow and love .  And here she was in front of Bill , yet she held no memory .  Parallel universes existed ( very obvious to Bill now , though Jenny had confirmed it ) .  Was it possible that this was River Song , but some River Song from a different parallel universe than Bill and the Doctor ?  Or was it just the memory loss stuff that apparently happened here .  ( Bill was grateful the only memory loss she seemed to have was how she’d gotten from the hospital room to here . )

❝ Maybe you did travel .  If you don’t remember much , who’s to say .  You look like the kinda person who would travel .  It’s in the eyes , you know ?  It’s how I knew the Doctor had travelled and seen a lot - their eyes gave it away . ❞

She bit her tongue at the idea of Nardole being French .  She suspected that he’d get a kick outta that if he’d heard , and thankfully he wasn’t here to hear it and be insufferable .  ❝ Nah , Nardole is the least French person I know .  He’s like - my weird uncle but in the cool way not in the creepy way .  I was told once when I described him like that that I needed to specify that . ❞

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

In the eyes. There was something for that. She had noticed it in the Doctor’s eyes when they had first met (though she couldn’t quite define what ‘it’ was). Maybe Bill had a point. The girl was very perceptive, and seemed to have a knack for piecing things together. Perhaps that's why someone as strangely intriguing as the Doctor had taken her in.

River flashed a smile. “I seem like the well traveled type? I’ll take that as a compliment.”

With a soft laugh, River looked over to her, “Specifying that is decently helpful, I’d think.” A moment later, she had found the perfect rug. If River were being honest, she was about to lose hope of finding one in the stack. Yet this one was a perfect fit. “This will do nicely. What do you think, Bill? Pretty?”

River wasn’t even phased, and this intrigued Jenny very much. They had an odd look on their face as they listened to her talk about her curriculum. River didn’t seem to have noticed it at all. They pursed their lips, bringing up their cup of tea to take a long sip of it, then wincing at the heat. It was still a bit too warm.

Did this mean something, or was River just used to being around the strange and different inhabitants of this town? Was River… an alien too, she wondered? Jenny looked her over again, watching the way she moved as she prepared herself a cup of tea.

“Well, studying this town is a big part of it, the barrier, the way people keep appearing from strange and different realms,” Jenny said, smiling to herself. The perfect segue. She acted casual as she raised her cup up for another sip before asking it. “You from around here or somewhere else?”

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

As River began preparing her tea in the well loved travel mug she always used, she nodded. It made sense to her that they studied why they were all stuck here.

“No, not really,” she shook her head, curls bouncing as she did. “Well,at least, I don’t think so. I don’t remember anything before arriving past the odd flash or gut instinct. I try to focus on those things when they come up to surface some sort of memory, but so far I’ve come up empty. That's common here, or so I’ve been told.”

She lifted the kettle to pour boiling hot water into her mug. “It's quite frustrating, but I manage. There's not much other than that I can think to do… No matter. I'm sure my little sob story isn’t what you wanted to hear. Everyone has their ghosts, especially in a little town like this.”

After she dropped in a bit of milk from the shared fridge and stirred the contents of her mug, River looked at Jenny. “What about you? Are you from around here?”

BILL’D LAUGHED THE FIRST TIME MERLIN HAD COME IN WHEN SHE WAS AROUND .  but ey had walked slowly through the shop , chattering almost as much as bill did , before picking up one locket and purchasing it .  Bill hadn’t liked the locket when it’d come in and tended to stay far away from it , but the idea it was cursed seemed insane .  But the guy was convinced .

❝ Oh I’ve only been here for a bit .  A few months now I suppose , though it doesn’t feel that long .  I knew the Doctor from before we got pulled here .  We used to travel together , and they were my tutor .  It was a fun time .  Nardole was there too , but he hasn’t shown up here . ❞

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River was intent to listen to Bill’s explanation. She was so perplexed with her own arrival in town, she often liked to try and find out if anyone else had shared her experience. She understood what Bill had meant about it not feeling like very long. For her, the short weeks she had been there felt much more like a few days.

Nodding, River ran her fingers over the pile of a particularly thick rug. It was not to her taste, but it was soft.

“Oh that sounds nice. I think I’ve always wanted to travel, but I’m not completely positive. I have, erm, memory issues? Apparently it's a common thing in this town. All I really get are inklings and flashes,” she said this without much emotion in her voice, but, if she were honest, River hated the fact that she didn’t know much about herself. She turned it a bit more lighthearted, not wanting to stew in the stress with a complete stranger just trying to sell her some antiques. “Nardole. Interesting name. Is that french?”

Jenny laughed. “No offense taken,” she said. “Teenagers are teenagers. We’ve all been there, right?” She smirked slightly. She actually hadn’t been there, but telling a complete stranger that she popped out of a machine as an adult didn’t usually feel like the right course of action. “It was a fun presentation though, at least in my opinion. I noticed a few kids nodding off, but for the most part I felt like they were engaged.”

They glanced down at the teacup, waiting for it to steep. They hated that part of tea, the waiting for it to be ready.

“History? I absolutely love history,” they said. “It’s my favorite school subject. Well, that and science. But history is brilliant. Is there a certain era of Earth history your classes focus on?”

Shit. She’d just called it ‘earth’ history. Immediate alien red flag. Whoops.

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

Laughing politely at Jenny’s words, River tucked the papers she had been looking over away. She didn’t remember her teenage years either, but she could only assume she was a troublemaker between the scars dusted around her knees and hands (which she had chalked up to lots of rough housing) and the tiny faded tattoo that looked old enough to be from that part of her life.

“I’d say same here, but I doubt that would be much of a surprise,” the older woman smiled. “Science was always my second favorite, but history is where my real love has always lain.”

The phrasing of the question didn’t really catch her off guard. She was used to the colloquialisms and general lack of proper grammar from her students, and she could barely remember a few months ago, let alone anything of her past. “We go through the early modern world, or the medieval period, to the industrial revolution. Right now we’re in the late 1700s. Not the most fun thing to teach, but there's a curriculum for a reason. If we had it my way, we’d be going over all sorts of fun things from really, really far back.” River got up in order to make herself another cuppa. “What sort of things do you get up to at the lab all day? If you don’t mind me asking that is.”

SHE WASN’T SURE WHY , BUT THE IDEA OF RIVER HAVING A FLAT FELT WEIRD .  maybe it was because bill associated that with people her age - but moira had only had a flat as well .  Maybe it was just the fact that because the Doctor held her so highly , Bill figured she deserved more than just a flat .  A home .  Maybe a pet .  She seemed like a fish kinda person .  Maybe Bill was just projecting .

❝ Well the nice thing about this place is that quite literally everything has character .  Though some of it is down right creepy .  There’s this person who comes in to clear out cursed items so they don’t wind up with anyone but I swear he misses some of it . ❞

She slowed as they reached the rugs , waving her hand out .  ❝ Rugs right ?  Honestly , they’re a great easy way to add character . ❞

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River loved the idea of some of the items in the shop being just a bit too creepy for comfort. She was a realist, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy the odd ghost story. Feeling nearly baited by the statement, she felt her brain getting caught up on the idea of someone removing the potentially cursed items. Being a history lover and having quite the open mind didn’t necessarily mean River believed items could actually be cursed. That was just stories people told to get more of a profit when they sold the thing off. Right?

Before she thought too long on it, River’s attention was brought to the rugs. They were much nicer than the few that had been in a few days prior. She grinned at Bill and gave a nod as she began to look over them, “I think so too.”

As she continued to search for exactly the one she wanted, she figured it was only polite to make a little conversation. And if anything came spilling out of the chatty shop assistant about the Doctor, that was simply a bonus. “So Bill, how long have you been in town? It seems everyone has an interesting story in this place.”

They knew they were failing at keeping themselves entirely in check. River had made that difficult for a very long time. They could see things flickering through that devastatingly clever mind, she had always been so very clever, and they forced themself to take a deep breath and still their hearts.

“What do you do for work?” They couldn’t help the question, wanting to know what River did when she didn’t know them, didn’t travel the universe and time. “I see, I have plenty of all of that. Would you prefer Oriental? Mediterranean? Classic British? A mixture of any and everything that just catches your eye?”

They watched her step closer and resisted the urge to close that distance. River had been one person they hadn’t wanted space from in many years. A slow smile spread over their face, a little sad at the edges in the way so many of the Doctor’s smiles were when faced with one of their losses. “Hello, River. I’m The Doctor,” they introduced as they accepted her hand.

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

There was an odd feeling creeping over her. River didn’t understand it, and she hated things she didn’t understand. She was the type to keep digging at a mystery until she found the explanation she was looking for (at least she thought as much– the amnesia made feelings and reactions a little confusing for her at times).

“Really? Your name is just ‘The Doctor’? It's an interesting one I’ll give you that. It's lovely to make your acquaintance.. I work at the secondary school– year eight history and advanced history,” she returned the smile, though her own was much more cheery.

It was only then River realized that she hadn’t let go of their hand. She dropped it quickly, flustered, and that creeping feeling found itself a home and settled in the pit of her stomach. Oh god. Her students must be rubbing off on her, as she suddenly understood it: she fancied the bloody shopkeep. Trying her best to not come across as a socially awkward freak, River replied with an easy, “I’m definitely the anything and everything sort.”

The way she said it, and the little smirk pulling at her mouth, made it sound much dirtier than simply buying antiquities.

“I like a bit of character in a piece, a bit of story. With my job, it's probably no surprise when I say I like older pieces, but I’m open to whatever you think I would like, Doctor,” she supplied, hopeful they would have a few things that fit the bill.

RIVER DIDN’T HAVE A FAMILIAR FACE .  that was the issue .  The reason why Bill’d recognized her the moment she’d walked in .  There was something about her that stood out , that made her different than anyone else . ( And yes she was hot but it wasn’t just that .  Bill wasn’t that lonely , though she’d always had a thing for older women ) .  She wished the Doctor was here so she could pester them .  She would the minute she tracked them down , and maybe even get a direct answer about who River Song was .  But for now , she had a River who didn’t know the Doctor to deal with .

❝ Honestly , I think I can only find my way around cuz the Doctor was my professor and tutor , so I vaguely understand how their mind works .  Key word on vaguely . ❞  The rugs and paintings .  Rugs should be over by the furniture but they wouldn’t be .  No .  They’d be by the bedroom trinkets - nightstand books , clocks , etc .  So Bill started off that way .  ❝ Are you decorating your home ? ❞

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River raised an eyebrow when Bill mentioned the fact the Doctor was both her professor and tutor, but said nothing of it. She had always wanted to be a professor herself, but here she was: in The Middle of Nowhere, Wales. She laughed a bit at the other’s wit. River understood the sentiment after only having been around the Doctor for a little while, and she couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have to deal with them all the time (though she’d like to).

“Flat, but yes, I am. I got to town quite recently, and the little box feels far too empty to be anything remotely near comfortable.” River followed as Bill walked, and eyed everything on display. She was finding it to be much easier to focus on the actual objects on sale this time round. Remembering what the Doctor had asked on her first visit, she figured she would give Bill a bit of guidance, “I don’t have a particular theme or anything. Just pieces with some nice character to them.”

OH .  oh no .  This wasn’t good .  Sure , Bill didn’t know the extent of River’s relationship with the Doctor , but considering they were two thousand years old and only had two people’s pictures on their desk , Bill could easily figure that those two were important to them .  Really important .  And she didn’t remember them .  She thought they’d only just met .  Oh this was NOT good .

SHE SHOOK HER HEAD .  ❝ sorry .  maybe i’m confusing you with someone else .  It’s just , you look a lot like someone the Doctor has a picture of , but with how weird this town is I could be wrong . ❞  She wasn’t .  Especially since River had just confirmed that she was , well , River .  ❝ Sorry , you’re probably here for something .  The Doctor is out , but maybe I can help ya ? ❞

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

With a polite smile, River shrugged it off. A case of mistaken identity was no big deal, and that's what this had to be. There was no reason for the Doctor to be talking about her when she wasn’t around. Right? They had just met the other day.

“Not a problem, Bill. I suppose I do have a bit of a familiar face.” River glanced around the shop quickly, trying to identify something to buy to cover for the fact that the whole reason she had come in was to see a person that currently wasn’t here. A bit of disappointment rose in her chest at the lack of the Doctor’s presence, but she shoved it away quickly. Get over yourself, Song. River tucked some hair behind her ear and looked back to Bill. “No need to apologize. I am here for something, so help would be wonderful. This place is a bit of a maze, I’ve noticed.”

River gave a little laugh, and it became increasingly obvious why the Doctor would like her so much. It was a pretty sound that anyone would swear could brighten even the darkest of places. “The other day the Doctor said that there were supposed to be some new paintings and rugs coming in. Have those arrived by chance?”

Jenny was enjoying the outing to the school for the most part, but it also felt a little pointless. They weren’t going to learn anything new about the mysteries of the research center by accompanying them on an educational trip, except for how they twisted and trimmed (only their most innocent) research into easy, bitesize chunks for children to understand.

It was fun though, talking to the kids, encouraging their curious minds and telling them that they should get involved in science. With the first group of students finished, and the second group not for another hour, Jenny retreated to the break room for a breather. They had been looking through the tray of teas, almost about to select the green one, when they heard the curling haired woman telling them to choose the blue.

Jenny plucked it out of the tray and turned to give her a grin.

“Thanks, I appreciate it,” she said, dropping the tea bag into a mug and pouring hot water from the kettle over it. “I’m Jenny, with the research center. I’m guessing you’re faculty at this prestigious learning establishment?”

image

⊱ ──────────── {⋆⌘⋆} ──────────── ⊰

River waved a hand in a ‘don’t mention it’ fashion, and smiled at her. She was happy to save anyone (except the very annoying art teacher) the pain of that very nasty excuse for tea. The comment on the prestige of the school made her have to stifle a laugh.

“I wouldn’t go that far, but yes I am. River Song, and I teach year eight history and advanced history. Pleasure to meet you Jenny. Everyone seems to be buzzing about your little demonstration already… though, that could just be because the students get to escape class for half the day.” She paused, setting her pen down, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to be rude. I just meant that it's to be expected from teenagers. I’m sure it's a lovely presentation.” She hadn’t had the time to watch the first presentation due to her large stack of papers.

HER VOICE TRAILED OFF WHEN HER EYES LANDED ON THE WOMAN .  she knew that face .  From the pictures on the Doctor’s desk .  She quickly stuffed the statue back on the shelf , wiping her hand on her pants and sticking it out .  ❝ Oh you must be looking for the Doctor .  I’m Bill .  Can’t say I’ve heard much about you , but you know how the Doctor is .  They like to keep everything to themself .  I’m traveling with him these days .  Well I was until we got stuck here .❞

Eyes flitting from the outstretched hand to the woman, Bill, behind it, River reached out and shook it with little hesitation. She smiled politely at her, yet her brow scrunched up a little in confusion. Why was she talking as if she was somebody of note? Sure, she had made a slightly larger than average purchase the other day, but that was hardly anything to make a fuss about. The business about traveling with them didn’t make much coherent sense to River either.

“Erm, sorry, I–  right. I’m River, and yes I was looking for the Doctor. I don’t know why you’d have heard of me, though. I only met them the once this past Saturday, but all good things I hope,” she said with a thin, unsure smile. “I’d hate to be known as a bad customer so soon after moving to town.”

River wasn’t sure why she felt so uneasy all of a sudden. Something felt inexplicably off, a sort of nagging feeling she couldn’t quite put her finger on was hanging over her like a storm cloud. She felt quite stupid, standing there with nothing to say in front of the shop attendant, and despite her best efforts she couldn't get her brain to formulate anything to say past, “I’m sorry, its just– the way you talk. You speak as if I should know you or something?”

When the cold was too biting, The Doctor was glad to have the antique shop to keep them at least somewhat occupied. It didn’t always work, their mind racing a mile a minute and the world around them moving painfully slow for a being who was used to being able to travel time at their whim. The weekends were normally better, a regular flow of people in and out of the shop to keep it from being entirely dull.

They were hanging a newly restored piece on the wall when they heard the bells jingling near the front. Never one to hurry when they weren’t of a mind to, they made sure it was placed just so before making their way to see their visitor. Stopping dead in their tracks, they had to tamp down the greeting that rose up in them. It felt like it had on that damnable Christmas, being looked at and looked right through.

“Hello,” sweetie, they forced to stay silent, dropping a few of the extra lenses down onto their jeweler’s spectacles as though it could help them understand. Or add a buffer. Either way. Their brogue had gone soft and they knew that Bill would have been staring at them. “How can I help you today?”

When River was faced with the attendant, something in her chest tightened. She didn’t understand the feelings that were quickly bubbling up in her. She looked at this stranger, knowing she hadn't met them before, yet she felt like she had known them her whole life. The look in their eyes made her nearly forget why she was there. What the hell was that all about!?

“I, erm,” she took a break, shaking her head in hopes of dispelling the weirdness she felt. “Sorry, long day at work. I just moved into town recently, and my flat is absolutely bare. I was looking to get a few things to make it a bit more home-like. A few lamps, carpets, decorations, a side table, that sort of thing.”

River drummed her fingers against the side of her leg, and then looked as though she was completely scandalized for a moment. She took a few steps forward and held out her hand, “I’m River, by the way. It's nice to meet you.”

River liked her job. She did! Teaching felt like the one thing that was right, where everything else felt all jumbled and out of place to the point it made her head hurt. Though today the students were on an assembly schedule, which meant she got plenty of extra time to herself. She was quite happy with that, as she had fallen behind on grading a stack of quizzes from a few days before.

She had just popped in the break room to grab a bottle of water from the vending machine, when she saw someone she didn’t recognize. For a moment, she thought it was a rogue student, but she quickly caught sight of the visitor’s badge, which is how she figured this woman must be from the group putting the assembly on.

By that point, River had made eye contact, and it would’ve been rude not to say anything. She wasn't a rude person, at least, she didn’t think so.  With a smile, she nodded at the woman, “Tea? Don’t go for the green packet. It's nasty stuff,” she said, referring to the communal tray of tea on the counter. “Try the blue instead. It's not the best in the world, but it is here.”

for @wickedpotions

It wasn't her first stop into the shop. It was far from being her last. The initial draw she had felt to the place had amplified, not calmed, when she had first gone in. And there was that man— the Doctor. River needed to know more about him.

She supposed that's why she had gone in that day. It was a quiet Tuesday afternoon, and she had just gotten off work. Looking around the room that was slowly becoming more familiar to her, River attempted to find the man she had met a few days before.

Instead of a man, she found the person working was a young woman. Odd. He hadn’t mentioned anything else about other workers... had he? The way the Doctor had phrased it nearly made it sound like he ran the place on his own… or maybe she had been too fixated on him to have paid attention to everything he was saying.

“Erm, hello,” it was too late to back out and pretend as if she hadn't been there, so she spoke to the girl who had approached her. “Sorry, I was just… looking for someone.”

⌘River + Twelve⌘

for my sweetie @velvetcoatsandbrillianthopes

It was cold here, River knew that if not much else. She was glad to have her favorite coat with her, as it seemed to keep out the bitey chill in the air better than anything else she could come up with. She had it pulled tight around herself, hands stuck deep in her pockets, as she walked down the street. There were a lot of people out and about today, but that wasn't surprising for a Saturday morning.

She had a long list of errands to run, but there was one shop that had her main interest— Goodwin Antiques. She didn’t know exactly why she was so pulled towards it, but she wanted to find out what sort of treasures the place could be hiding. On the clock, Ms. Song was a history teacher, so it made sense she would be intrigued by carefully preserved items of the past. Besides, she had just moved into town, and her tiny flat looked depressing with nothing to cover the bare walls and table tops and floors of it.

Pushing in the door of the shop, River was happy to find it was warm inside. Her eyes didn’t know where to look first, as there seemed to be dozens of pretty pieces within feet on the doorway to look at. As she unzipped her coat, she looked around for the nearest attendant. She was going to need one if she had any hope of navigating the place. When she saw one, she smiled, and the skin around her eyes crinkled as she did. “Oh hello! Good morning to you.”

River’s Intro

image

i think i just saw River Song (she/her, nonbinary, 224+)! she’s a canon character from doctor who. have you heard she remembers nothing from her previous life? she appeared here in february 2022 after resuming her work as a professor after leaving darillium. now she’s working as a teacher at the armes sallow secondary school. still, she does have that untamed mess of curls, journaling in the hot summer sun, wit sharp as a tack, only water in the forest vibe about her.

[alex kingston, see bottom of post for details]

“Its all got so very complicated, and its a mess, and I’m really fed up. Do you know what I want? You were right. I want a day-- just one normal day. A day sandwiched neatly, boringly, between two surrounding days. Exactly where it should be..”

Armes| Can you tell me your name?

“River. River Song.

A| Where are you from?

“That's a good question really.

A| What’s the last thing you remember?

“Last thing I remember? As in the earliest? I don’t really know. I remember going to sleep in my flat, and then waking up here.

A| We have a history of memory loss here. Do you feel as if you may be missing some memories?

“I do. I don’t remember much of anything about myself other than a few minor details— my name, my age, my profession. That sort.

A| Have you found a job here in Sallow Hills?

“I have. I work at the secondary school. I think I like teaching.

A| What was the strangest thing you saw before arriving here?

“I’m not sure what you mean by that.

A| What traits would your friends give to you?

“I don’t have any of those. Not that I can remember. Smart, witty, and drop dead gorgeous would fit the bill.

A| Is there anything else you would like to say?

“No, thank you.
