Ahh yes what better way to draw my Infection au than watching MLP horror Infection au, and I look up and I see this
The au I'm watching is Elements of Agony, on tiktok

It's been two weeks since Applejack's family fled alongside the other ponies of Ponyville. She's been roaming the acreage for three days on end and she currently has only one good leg left for bucking.
Rainbow Dash may have been the first of the mane six to be infected as her need for speed was core to her personality. As a result, little moments of impatience or rushing ponies went unnoticed. Rainbow was diagnosed despite her denial during her back-to-back racing episodes.
Fluttershy has reclused herself within the Everfree Forest to tend to maximize her caretaking. She has succumbed to her Timberwolf injuries.
Rarity has become a shut-in and uses her artistic expression to cope. Her memories of her friends have been replaced with nonsensical sewing bursts which will inevitably be thrown into the pile of duds. Ponyville is roughly 80% evacuated at this point in time.
Pinkie Pie has to withstand the smell of Mr. and Mrs. Cakes as she dances once again for a fourth night. The couple has passed ever since Pinkie started showing symptoms. No pony is left to intervene.

MLP Infection AU - True Bad Ending:
Almost everypony dies, leaving only some of Mane 6, and some other random ponies as the only ones surviving, to which they then have to rebuild society.
One of the survivors, out of everypony, is Zephyr Breeze
I bet I can ruin* the Infection AU by making it wholesome.
Like, keep the body horror and shit, but have it so no one dies. Have it be so the Infection only distorts the body, and makes it look horrifying, just so everyone would be too scared to try and treat it. Plus it would deliberately put the infected in question into this extreme panic, where they're convinced that they've become uncontrollable, flesh-eating monsters.
One of the main characters, however, finds out that the Infection doesn't turn ponies into flesh-eating monsters, and it just makes it seem like that to scare other ponies away.
So, then, the infected get proven to be safe, and they all get cured.
So, kinda like this drawing I made, where it was originally supposed to be a two-panel joke emphasizing an ironic reaction to a horrifying sight, before I kept building upon it, making it wholesome (not mlp-related; just wanted to share it) 👇

The funny part of the Infection AU is that I imagine it actually playing out in the MLP universe, albeit in a way the Mane 6 help figure out a way to cure it before anyone (or anything) dies.
I dunno; I like happy endings in the face of extremely grim and horrifying situations.
