I believe it's because writing is intrinsically part of your soul. Every piece of writing, every character and universe you build has a piece of you in it. It's in the repeated phrases across stories, the lingering motifs and the way you do EM dashes, because no one does them the same way. Writing is an inherently personal thing, and sharing it even more.

Creating alongside another person? You bare your souls to one another, pick off the pieces and share them, you put them together and create something entirely new from parts of yourself. That is one of the most intimate things a human being can do, share deeply parts of their soul they may not even know exist with one other person for the sake of creation. You are creating a person together, a city, a world, a whole universe in your conjoined hands, and denying that it's personal? No. That won't work in the slightest.
