sobbed over a jatp fanfic yesterday. How was your weekend?
sorta linked to my one other post but Luke wanted to go apologize to his parents after playing the Orpheum but then he died yk but anyway so I just finally linked that to the linked that to the line in unsaid emily "didn't get to apologize" and he really didn't so yeah now i want to sob again so that's great.
reading some jatp fanfics make me realize how protective I am over my comfort charterers
id like to take a moment and appreciate the jatp fandoms inside jokes like whenever we ship characters we say they ooze chemistry and someone replies with "you should never say ooze again but I agree" or when you call them a boyband and someone replies with "who you calling boyband' there's probably some I'm missing but yeah, I love this fandom.
I love these ideas. I like the thought that maybe Caleb made up the unfinished business thing to lure people into his club or smth.
okay so what could the guys unfinished business be? Honestly I can't really think of anything other than playing the orpheum. Does anyone else have any ideas?
I'd sell my soul to Caleb for a second season
So I actually have some respect for bobby bc he didn't steal unsaid Emily like at least he knew that it was personal to Luke.
I saw in a tiktok or smth (sorry I can't credit again bc I don't know who made it and it was ina tiktok compilation on YouTube so i don't have the link) but there theory was that the missing poster was bc his parents didn't know where he was and they thought he was missing đ
okay so what could the guys unfinished business be? Honestly I can't really think of anything other than playing the orpheum. Does anyone else have any ideas?
okay so I know we hate Trevor, but I actually feel so bad for him because he lost his 3 best friends right before the biggest show of their life's like I feel so bad for him.
i know people have probably already talked abut this but i need a moment to talk about it because their so clever like a poster of a band called unfinished business playing at the Orpheum likee
i love how julie calls them "my phantoms" and also (dont read any further if you dont want a big spoiler) the juke part in the last part of the book where luke is llike "you like Trevor Wilson song" and julies like "yes i like your songs" and luke says "i like you" IM SCREAMING OMFGG
Okay so I got the Julie and the phantoms book for Christmas and it talks about like stuff that happened right before the show but anyway, so Luke wanted to go and try make things right with his parents the day after playing the orpheum and now I wanna sob because he never got that chance.
So this Julie and the phantom's theory I saw a while ago (I'm not sure where) and just remembered makes me want to sob right now, so the theory was that Luke's mom heard him singing unsaid Emily and just thought it was in her head. And everyone can hear them but not see them. Like don't make me cry. I'm having a really good eyeliner day! Also, I'm so sorry for not knowing who made this theory and if you did or you know who did, please tell me, so I can give them credit đ
Sunset Cure wallpaper I made for my phone ~
We were robbed of luke patterson with piercings think of him in the 90âs with a tongue piercing and snake bites
If anyone can draw this please do
But imagine if Lukeâs last name wasnât actually Patterson, and the Fantom really just looked at that one scene/missing poster a little too hard.
Kudos to that stagehand that seemed really invested while Julie was performing by herself in Stand Tall
Maybe finally playing a set of more than one song is their unfinished business? (The sign-up sheet in Finally Free literally says that they have to play 5 songs or for 15 minutes)
What if âCrooked Teethâ is about having a difficult home life/ family problems and thatâs why itâs about Reggie or why Reggie and Alex think the song is about the other?
Iâm honestly so glad that I still watch childrenâs television/ tv shows that have very general audiences, even as a university student. If not, I wouldnât have decided to spontaneously watch Julie and the Phantoms after watching the beginning of the trailer. I thought that it would simply be a goofy show with one-sided characters and juvenile jokes. But I was hooked by the end of the second episode because of how it improved on so many tired and overdone tropes.
I canât explain how much I love Julie and the Phantoms. Like it filled the Trollhunters/Wizards hole in my heart from last month, which is only worth mentioning because I was crying for days.
I need it to be renewed ASAP!!!
Please watch this incredible show, itâs got literally everything I would want in a show targeted towards kids (spoilers):
No douche-y or toxic masculine traits in the main male characters. I half expected the guys to be the typical bros when I started watching (since I decided to watch after 5 seconds into the trailer), but they werenât and instead so adorable and supportive of each other.
A rival character that wasnât villainized with her femininity. I really appreciated how Carrie was more than your typical rival/ex-best friend/ popular girl because that character is usually untalented/has bad songs (which doesnât make sense given why sheâs popular), only hates the main character out of jealousy and insecurity, and is very feminine to juxtapose the main. Instead, Carrie is seen as talented and no one mocks her more bubblegum pop music that a rock band could easily make fun of (but the band doesnât and even dances along to it), and mentions how sheâs worked hard on her music and choreography.Â
The lgbt+ rep. I will admit, as much as I was excited that Alex has 1) gay and 2) out and 3) not one, present, had a problem with it, I was a little sad because heâs a ghost and I thought we would never see a gay love story for him as a ghost. Boy, was I wrong! I knew instantly that Alex was going too be awed by Willie with that slo-mo shot of him taking off his helmet. And then there were so many moments where I was thinking âNow, kissâ because of how close and intense they were.
Latinx rep. Having poc in lead roles is so important to me and I was excited and surprised that both female lead and her best friend were poc, instead of one of them being white. I loved that because it also means that their families will be poc. I will admit, I think it would also be great of the guys were less white, but I think the cast is great.
Incredible music. I told myself to finish watching before looking up the soundtrack and listening to it, but I couldnât help myself.
Amazing outfits. Well, most of Julie and Flynnâs outfits and most of the bandsâ. I think my favorite of Julieâs in the camo jumpsuit from the 2/3 episode with her hair up, it was a nice transition from the more comfortable, passive outfit from the first episode to her fighting for her spot in the music program. (also, is anybody else confused by her schoolâs music program? my hs was a creative/performing arts hs and you literally had to apply as one of the majors, so being removed from yours would probably mean being kicked out)
Thank you if you read this unnecessary long rant about my new favorite show.
1. Dear White People
This show goes on the top tier of my favorite shows ever. Itâs been around since 2017 (after the eponymous movie of 2014) but only this year I finally got the chance to watch it. Truly one of the best written shows Iâve ever seen, with such compelling characters and story. While I love to watch series with hard hitting social topics, itâs usually very emotionally exhausting for me. However, DWP manages to balance the gravity of its plot with a bright outlook. Besides, I always love to see different charactersâ perspectives so the format of DWP is extremely engaging.
2. Grand Army
Grand Army is not your typical teen drama. Itâs very raw and real. Five protagonists pull you into the story, and whether you hate them or love them, they donât let you go. All characters feel like actual people you could know in real life. The show talks about racism, terrorism, sexual assault, white feminism, poverty, homophobia, bullying and more. I also love the way the show uses phones and social media, which you rarely get to see in teen shows. It doesnât feel glossy or over dramatic. It does get graphic and dark, but it makes you care about the fate of its characters. Here, we also get to see five different perspectives. That and the rawness reminded me of SKAM, although GA is way less cheerful. It could also be compared to Euphoria with itâs portrayal of real issues, but I feel like GA hits the spot much better (and has more diversity).
Finding out that the creator is racist, upon finishing the binge, left me shocked and quite conflicted. I hope they will change the showrunner for season 2 (if it gets renewed).Â
3. The GreatÂ
Iâm not much of a period drama fan but this oneâs no typical historical shows. It plays around historical figures, but you shouldnât take that too seriously, just like the show itself. Itâs a great (haha get it) fun to watch. The combination of comedy with the actual life or death peril creates a unique experience. Each episode the tables turn, you feel both, betrayed and enticed. Not to mention, Elle Fanning and Nicholas Houltâs chemistry and performances are phenomenal. Overall, it feels like a strawberry blew up in your mouth (take it however you want).
4. Dickinson
Dickinson is similar to The Great in a sense of historical accuracy. And Iâm grateful for it, because seeing the 19th century nobility twerking at a party was something that brought me an immense amount of joy. Of course, you get to see Emily Dickinsonâs poetic and original inner world, which is handled quite creatively.
5. The Queenâs Gambit
This is just a very well written, portrayed and produced story. Even if you feel like it wouldnât be your cup of tea (I mean a period piece about chess? Come on), chances are once you put the show, you wonât be able to stop. Itâs a limited series with a star struck cast which pretty much reads like a prolonged film. Itâs also pretty suitable to watch with your family, if usually you struggle to find a common interest.
6. Julie and the Phantoms
This show certainly exceeded everyoneâs expectations. It may seem like a typical kids show, but itâs smart, deep and entertaining. The music is incredible and itâs impossible not to fall in love with characters. Also, hereâs the proof that your show doesnât need to have graphic scenes and oversexualized underaged characters to be good.Â
7. Saved By the Bell: the reboot
So I didnât watch the original show, but the reboot caught my attention mostly because of Josie Totah, and because the vibe of the show just felt like something I would like. And I was absolutely right. Perhaps itâs not everyoneâs cup of tea (and what is?) but to me itâs hilarious. A sort of heart-warming witty little show with gen z humor and interesting diverse characters. Definitely my new comfort show. And Lexiâs my queen. Â
8. Outer Banks
Released during self-isolation it became a way for the viewers to live vicariously through the risky outdoor adventures. Perhaps, thatâs why itâs such a hit and a bit overrated. Donât get me wrong, I really liked (why do you think itâs on this list). Itâs not an outstanding show, might be cheesy and raise some questions (like how can they all be teenagers looking like that?) but itâs entertaining and engaging, and sometimes thatâs all you need.
9. I am not okay with this
Letâs take a moment of silence for this amazing show being cancelled. Do you like Teotfw or Stranger Things, or better yet both? This showâs for you! Itâs unique, dynamic, feels like youâre reading a comic book. Has a certain mystery to it and its own distinct voice. It also feels retro and nostalgic, even though itâs set in modern day.
10. Love, Victor [SPOILERS]
Thereâs a lot of things I wish I could change about the show to make it better: For starters, more representation. I mean youâre making a show, not exclusively, but primarily for the lgbtq+ community and you only have two main gay characters? Whatâs that about? There are so many possibilities to make other characters not straight. E.g. Mia and Lake could be couple goals, Pilar being bi, Andrew â definite bi energy. Secondly, the cheating trope is so exhausting and overdone in gay storylines. It doesnât add drama, it just makes the couple and the characters hard to root for. Also, making the love interest so obvious was so underwhelming after everything we went through in Love, Simon. I was kind of hoping for a surprise love interest until the end.
Regardless of all that, no matter how far from teenage reality this show is, it was cute. And even though I rooted for the secondary characters way more than the main one, Iâm still excited to see what they come up with for S2.
Are you still doing jatp fic requests?
Yes I just need to get around to publishing all of them
Can you write a luke Patterson fanfic where the reader is also apart of their own band? đ„șđ„ș
" Thank you everyone for coming tonight . Until next time!" I smile while running off stage with the rest of my band. E just performed one of the biggest shows for our band tonight . One step closer to playing the orpheum. " That was sick guys!" My bandmate and lead guitarist Natalie cheers. " We're gonna play the orpheum soon." " That we are Nat. if we keep performing like that we will be opening for bands like Green Day , The Smashing Pumpkins , hell maybe even Blink 182." I fantasize draping an arm across Natalie's shoulders.
" Someones at the door." Darcie calls out. She walks over opening it and there stands my boyfriend Luke Patterson and his band mates. He smiles brightly walking over to me. "Hey baby. You were great out there." My bass player Crystal clears her throat behind us making us turn around. " Right sorry you were all great out there tonight . " Crystal smirks, " Thank you Luke." All the other girls giggle and thank him too.. Alex walks over bringing me into a hug. " I'm so proud of you. You too ladies!" He says making sure to compliment them so he doesn't make anyone feel left out.
Luke walks up behind me kissing my cheek."you guys should come over to Bobby's. we've got a party set up with snacks and drinks." "Snacks?" Darcie hops up off the couch . "Drinks? What kind of drinks?" Yazmin my drummer questions."soda water juice I don't know." " Alcohol ?" Bobby shakes his head no. " My parents would kill me if we had alcohol " " damn it." Sighs Yazmin. " Come on guys lets go." Luke grabs my hand leading me to his car.
* TIME SKIP*
We arrive at Bobby's which is also the boys' studio. The studio is decorated with balloons streamers and there's even a banner with our bandwrote across it. In the middle of the room is a table with different snacks and drinks. " Babe you didn't have to do this or us." "Yeah well we wanted to. You're our friends and we are proud of you guys." I hug him while holding his face kissing him. " I love you. " I love you too" " hey lovebirds come hang out with us." Reggie butts in.
We all sit around for the next few hours playing games talking about music and filling up on junk food " hey darcie come here." She walks over to me sipping on her Capri sun like its Don Perignon. "What's up?" " I think I wanna play the song." darcie smiles. " Great I'll go tell the girls." "Thank you you're the best." I hug her before she runs off to get the girls. " You having fun?" Luke wraps his arm around my shoulder "yeah I am. Again you didn't have to do this. " Babe you guys literally played one of the biggest shows of your career. You're closer to playing the orpheum than we are." He laughs. "Maybe." "Y/N" come here." Natalie pulls my hand dragging me to over to the boys' instruments.
I walk up to the microphone stand adjusting it to my height. " Boys if we can have your attention wed like to play a special song. " The boys sit down to watch us. Like looks at me with love filled eyes. Yazmin starts in on the drums as I sing.
"Can't count the years on one hand
That we've been together
I need the other one to hold you
Make you feel, make you feel better
It's not a walk in the park
To love each other
But when our fingers interlock,
Can't deny, can't deny you're worth it
Cause after all this time I'm still into you"
I smile as I grab the mic off the stand dancing around.
"I should be over all the butterflies
But I'm into you (I'm into you)
And baby even on our worst nights
I'm into you (I'm into you)
Let 'em wonder how we got this far
Cause I don't really need to wonder at all
Yeah, after all this time I'm still into you"
I continue dancing as the look of love grows in Luke's eyes.
" Recount the night that
I first met your mother
And on the drive back to my house
I told you that, I told you that I loved ya"
* FLASHBACK *
I still remember the first night met Emily. She was so welcoming and so sweet. Her and I got along so well we baked cookies after dinner. When Luke took me home sat in the car thinking about how in love with him I truly was. "I love you Luke." Luke braked and pulled off to the side of the road. " What?" " I love you Luke Patterson." He took one last look at me before kissing me. " I love you too" Ever since we've grown more in love with each other day by day.
* FLASHBACK OVER*
"You felt the weight of the world
Fall off your shoulder
And to your favorite song
We sang along to the start of forever
And after all this time I'm still into you"
I sang the chorus once more as I jump and dance around feeling the happiness of the song.
" Well, some things just,
some things just make sense
And one of those is you and I
Some things just,some things
just make sense And even after all this time"
I make my way over to Luke standing in front of him.
" I'm into you and baby not a day
Goes by that I'm not into you."
I pull Luke up off the couch to sing the chorus with me our voices mixing together in the perfect harmony.
" I'm still into you."
We finish the song looking into each others eyes forheads pressed together. " I love you." We say in unison laughing before kissing. As we pull away our friend clap for us making me giggle. " That song was incredible." " Thank you. And thank you again for being the incredible inspiration"
