josie had been in a mood since her and hope's european dark magic adventure. despite loving her job, deep down it always felt like something was missing because that was reality. a very part of her soul had left her body the day of the merge, never to return. it haunted her to this day, every dream being turned into a nightmare of the same ending over and over again. with a coffee in hand and headphones blaring music to help wake her bones, josie managed to catch a glimpse of someone she hadn't seen in awhile.
"mia?" she questioned to herself, before walking over to the other and smiling once certain. "i know where you parents are, welcome back or are you just visiting?" the siphoner always wondered where mia up and went to, it seemed as if it happened in the middle of the night.
Mia climbed out of her cab and paid them and then stepped into the street, looking up at the city streets. It was hard to ignore how big the unknown city was when all she had was an address for her parents new place. "I should have got a better map," she muttered to herself before looking up and spotting someone. "Do you think you can help me?" She asked. "I'm looking for this-" she said, holding out the music page she had written the address on. "House... can you point me in the right direction?"

for the past few weeks, josie felt as something was deeply wrong within the city. it felt as if the earth below was rumbling, waiting for the perfect time to do something drastic and that's exactly what happened. people below were stirring in their graves being brought back by a curse. the noise of it all was too much for the siphoner, stumbling into an alleyway she managed to knock over a garbage can, scaring the hell out of the other.
with wide eyes, she looked up to see it was blossom and she let out a heavy sigh of relief. "what have you been seeing blossom?" walking up to the banshee, josie placed her hands on the others shoulder, trying to give some calm to the anxious storm that swirled around them. "i'm right here, don't worry...let's get you somewhere safer and we can talk more okay?"

she had seen them before, seen their deaths replay over and over in her mind. the few days nights before their death happened. but no, no, it couldn’t of been them, she just had an overactive imagination and clearly everything was her brain mixing her biological parents death with the fasces that had been flashed on the news papers. she couldn’t have been there at the death of the shop keeper nor those of the vampires , yet , it felt like she had been present.
yet, her body had taken her to an empty alleyway, and god it look familiar, like she had seen it in her dreams the night before. herself jumping as she heard a empty can rolling across the alleyway, fear stopping her from moving. “…I think something bad going to happen..” she spoke, to anyone who could hear her.
shaking her head, the siphoner couldn't even be mad at the outburst. something was off in the city, maybe even the world and it was hard to figure out what it was. josie could feel it as if it was happening below her feet, little did she know that it actually was. "honestly, don't worry about it. i barely slept last night."
shrugging her shoulders, josie gave the other a sweet smile and nodded. "yeah sure that sounds great, but i will buy the next round. i mean you can't have only one pina colada." a soft giggle left her lips, before placing all of her belongings in a tote. "i'm josie, by the way."
mau knew she shouldn’t get snappy and angry at the other, it was a simple mistake. her eyes roaming the patch and seeing the others towel a mere few meters away. a long drawn out sigh escaped her lips. “yeah sorry..didn’t mean to snap.” she remarked, scratching the back of her neck. her anger being worse than it was when she first triggered her werewolf gene. “i’ll buy you a drink to make up for being so snappy for you, it’s the least I can do.”
taking a deep breath, allowed josie to hear the tone of the others voice. looking up at the girl with a shrug, she realized that blossom managed to grab a decent amount of the strewn about papers. "well you seem to be really good at catching, so i guess that makes the situation a little better." she teased, before kneeling down and grabbing the rest of the papers. "i just need to get these to the admin office before they close and then i can go home. this day has been dragging for far too long." she admitted before getting back up to face the other. "i'm uhh josie, thanks for grabbing the rest of those."
she was always in her own world, her head in the clouds as some people would say, although that never bothered blossom. she preferred it that way, but the change in the air was something she could even sense. nightmares and the idea of death lingering around every corner and maybe that was why she preferred to stay in her own world full of art and distancing from others.
headphones blaring her music, her mind not really focusing on where she was walking. her only snap back to reality was when she felt herself collide against Josie. “ah fuck.” blossom mumbled, seeing the paper scatter around the pair of them. herself grabbing as many as she could before the wind would take them away. “sorry about that.” the girl spoke, holding them out for the other. “kinda weren’t paying attention.”
hearing faith's voice pulled the siphoner out of her bad mood, a sigh of relief left her lips as she began picking up the papers on the floor. shaking her head with a giggle, josie looked up at her sister with a grin. "you're right this would be ten times worse if these papers were wet." placing what was needed in a folder, she got up and flattened out the edges of her skirt. grabbing the papers in the blondes hand, she tilted her head with a smile. "work was, well it was awful and i didn't sleep last night so i'm on edge, sorry about that."
there’s an ‘oof’ when the two collide, and faith’s attention immediately turns to the paper cup in her hand which she tries to balance out of spilling its content over. thankfully, the misfortune ends with her sister’s flying papers. “could be worse,” faith offers as she kneels down to help pick up some papers with her free hand, “i could’ve spilled your drink all over.” she lets a small laugh out.
her nose scrunched up at his teasing, while her shoulders became a little less tense, all from pretending to hold her head high. the only time josie was able to be a person was when she was around family, or at least certain family. "i want to fight that one but so far, you have been right... " she twirled on her feet back to the microwave, placing the popcorn in and setting the timer before shrugging. "plus, we know fate is a fickle thing." josie smirked, making her way over to the fridge and looking at the drink selection. "i love that klaus enjoys hard liquor, it means mom always has mixers around." pulling out all the things needed for a dirty shirley, the witch took out two fancy glasses.
he managed to finish her sentence, something she found both helpful and painful, because it brought up the very emotions she desperately tried to push down. "yeah since the merge." after placing some ice in the glasses, she placed her palms on the cool tile. "it could be an evil spell, i mean those do give me the chills." but there was still something else, a feeling that she couldn't put into words, it was there on the tip of her tongue. she felt lizzie, in a much different way since that fateful night. shaking the thought away, she went back to pouring and mixing drinks, the sound of popping filling the kitchen. "i guess we should wait for aunt freya, she normally is the first to know what evil lurks."
there wasn't a day that passed by that nikolas didn't think about his fiance . about their connection and the bond they shared . it was a bond that he had never had with anyone before and to have that ripped away from him by his own careless action had darkened his path . it wasn't by any means what josie had gone through with lizzie , but there were some similarities between the two . they both lost someone that they had cared for dearly and it was at their own hands . now they were forced to live without the person they loved the best way they knew how .
" well get use to hating because i'm always right . " nikolas teased josie , before breathing a laugh . nikolas looked back to see the brunet open the cabinet door with glee to get to the popcorn . large hands grabbed at the wet cloth to wipe down the marble countertop before a laughed followed underneath his breath of how she would try to keep her snacks and hands in the right place . the sandy blonde having his doubts . " well my fate is in your hands , literally and figuratively . " he joked as he felt his energy change . she was the fresh breath of air that he had needed .
nikolas finished up with his task before turning around to his sister's curious question . " evil spell ? " he questioned , she continued but then her voice drifted off . nikolas could see it in her eyes that it was the thought of their sister lizzie that created the withdrawal . " since the merge with lizzie . " he thought to finish her sentence to show that he understood . " i think i heard aunt freya say something but i haven't felt anything . " perhaps it was the vervain that he had been taken to gain immunity to the potent herb after he was attacked with it by a hunter a few weeks ago . he had of course killed the hunter , but he never wanted to feel that vulnerable again .
nikolas reminded josie of lizzie, the way he'd crack a joke or annoy her so deeply only to then make her feel loved, only hours later. "i hate when you are right." she admitted before nodding her head in excitement and grabbing a bag of popcorn from the cabinet. "i can't make any promises, but i will try my best to keep these hands and my snacks in their proper places." a playful smirk grew on her lips as she began to follow the instructions on the microwave popcorn box. there was something weighing on her recently, the chill in the air that seemed to creep in overnight.
"nick, have you umm felt any weirdness recently? like evil spell kinda weirdness?" turning from the microwave, josie faced her brother with a quizzical brow. "something feels off and i haven't felt this way since..." her voice trailed off at the thought of the merge. it happened years ago, yet it felt like a newly open wound. nickolas knew all about losing someone close to you, so close that you aren't sure how to move on after their gone. clearing her throat, as if to push her sadness away, she began to find herself busy with fixing a drink, waiting for his answer.
it wasn't that often that people had the ability to make nikolas smile . yet , his sister had a special way of making that happen . nikolas smiled after hearing josie laugh , the sound was pleasing to his ears as he finished putting the dishes away . he mused slightly , brows arched over his angelic blues as she spoke . " but i wouldn't be doing my younger brother duties if i did that . " he teased after she mentioned that he should be nicer . " are you sure you want to watch another horror movie ? because if i recall correctly the last time you had me covered in popcorn because you said and i quote ' the music was scary ' . " he teased again before his hands found something else to do around the kitchen . " but in risk of being your punching bag . . i heard that a horror movie called tarot is out . although i'd have to remind you that popcorn goes into your mouth not my hair . . or the couch , or floor . . " he teased playfully .
her eyebrows rose at his quip, taking a deep inhale, trying to stuff away her annoyance. josie had met eli before, her family became much bigger after her mother married klaus. something that she found helpful after the merge. losing such a huge part of her, still never healed but having so many people around that cared, helped her on the darker days. rolling her eyes she looked up to eli and then back at the papers. "yeah well there's a first time for everything." once grabbing the last piece, she managed to shuffle them back into place before getting up from her knees.
"you know for being so tall and strong, you could've put that to use with the cleanup." brushing her legs, she placed a hand on her hip. josie was exhausted so that made her tempers flare, but eli hadn't really done anything wrong. it wasn't his fault he was built like a quarterback, sighing she smiled softly. "sorry, i uhh haven't really slept well so any minor inconvenience has just made me grumpy."
Eli had felt the same shift as other had commented on. It felt like something big and insidious lurking in corners, but no one had any idea what. As he made his way through town, he saw the female and smirked to himself. Of course Eli had the arrogance not just of that of a mikaelson but also from his father and that gave him an unruly confidence. As he approached his cousins friend, he was soon colliding into her as she came crashing into her body.
He had stopped just before her but not seeing him had caused his larger frame to knock her back and her paperwork fall to the ground. He looked down to it before moving his hues upwards towards the other for a moment as she spoke. "Well that's not exactly the greeting I was expecting...I don't usually hit girls off their feet... although seeing them at my feet isn't that uncommon.." he remarked.
josie wasn't normally one to be out in society, often finding herself at home with a good book, or some new gripping television show, but it was a hot day and being near water felt like the perfect getaway. setting out her towel, she placed all her belongings neatly around, before going to grab a drink with a book in hand. by the time she came back, a piña colada in one hand, her sigh covered by the book. unaware of her surroundings, the siphoner sat on someone else's blanket, only to be sucked deeper in the story she read.
it wasn't until an annoyed voice rang in her ears, that she realized she wasn't with her things. looking around with wide eyes, she quickly got up, her cheeks flushing as she apologized. "oh, i'm so sorry, i uhh wasn't paying attention. i got sucked into this book and must've sat on your towel. i'm not wet so it shouldn't be soaked or anything."

the water felt so refreshing, the cool sensation hitting against the new hybrids skin. she felt at peace, the first time in the last month where she had truly felt at peace. everything became an overwhelming feeling and something she had never wanted. she was happy as just a wolf, she could control that just about and now, now she felt as if she had taken five steps backwards. but the swim, it was helping her, everyone of her senses just focusing on the water. the sounds, the feeling, it felt good. finally getting out of the water, an hour after she started her swim, there was a small roll of her eyes for a brief moment. “do you mind, you’re sitting on my towel.” she almost snapped at the person. the sense of calming she had fading almost instantly. god, maybe she should just live in the water and as far away from society as she could.
"first of all, gross didn't need to know that..." josie quipped at her brother before tilting her head, a smirk covering her lips before letting out a giggle. "second of all, i am your sister and you should be nicer to me." there were only a few people who understood the loss that she went through, something she hated to see him experience. the two of them often found comfort in each others grief, spending late nights watching movies and cooking dinners when the giant house was empty. "i don't need anything by the way, just wanted to see what you what your plans were for the night. maybe we could watch some horror movies?"
since the merge, the siphoner spent time either at work or with family. not being able to put energy into any thing else. nikolas never harped on that when with her and so she began to spend a lot of time with him.

" mom and dad are probably off having a rendezvous ; what do you need ? " nikolas asked as he placed a few dishes into the dishwasher . nikolas didn't live with his parents but going to his home wasn't an option for him . not after what happened to his fiance . nevertheless , he placed the glass pieces in the dishwasher one by one . nikolas was much like his father , in some ways he could be careless, short-tempered , manipulative and unreasonable, but he had his father's good traits too . he could be loving and kind . and like his mother he could be extremely loyal . but on other days like his mother he would stress clean when he was trying to avoid something.
