Why do you guys blame Cherry and Darry for the events of the book? (Y'all especially do this to Cherry)

Cherry was literally getting harassed by Dally, then Johnny killed her boyfriend, (even though he had it coming) and then Two-Bit had to stop some of the greasers from jumping her when she offered to be a spy. Honestly, I don't even care about Cherry that much myself, but it's not like she went out of her way to hurt anyone. (And who can blame her for not wanting to see the guy who killed her boyfriend? Besides, who's to say that Johnny wanted to see her anyway?)

And I don't like it when people blame Darry for what happened. (Ik some people blame Pony too, which I also don't like, but I've seen people blame Darry more) Darry was 20 years old. And taking care of his 16- and 14-year-old brothers after both of their parents died. AT THE SAME TIME. Darry wasn't perfect, but neither were any of the characters. That's what most people like about them. And really, if you want to play the blame game, blame Bob and the other guys for jumping Pony and Johnny, or blame Dally for flirting with Cherry in the first place. (Nobody seems to do the latter option)

Prompt that created the world- age accuracy pb&j idea ponyboy and Johnny set in modern times, but they’d be as if they aged up and created their own family.

The au begins with a 46-year-old Ponyboy Curtis and a new student in his English class named Tex Romero. Pony is a teacher at a local middle school, he comes across a kid who bares a striking resemblance against one of his closest friends, Dallas Winston. Tex asks why he, and Johnny never got married or dated anybody and starts explaining a queer platonic relationship. The pair have a lightbulb moment when Tex is done explaining to them. Tex started the conversation by asking about Darry and two-bit trying to learn more about this new adoptive family he's found himself in because he talked to a teacher about when he was found by child protective services running around without any kind of parents, so he was sent to foster care and being forced to go to school. Tex mentions that Darry and Two-bit act like Johnny and Pony do with each other. When asked to explain what he meant by the two pairs acting alike he mentions that both pairs act like a married couple despite neither of them ever marrying or having kids. Pony is forced to explain Darry hasn't dated in decades because he stopped being friends with a guy he knew when he was young. Darry is sent to talk to Tex and he tells him about the situationship the old man in his youth, Tex mentions the possibility that Darry was in love with Paul holden and they had a breakup he never got over and that was why he never married or dated even after his schedule cleared up immensely when his youngest brother left home to go to school. Tex talking about relationships had unopened a can of worms nobody was sure were going to close until everything was discussed and talked about. He’d opened hidden lore about his new family, and he was always a curious sort, so he was determined to find the truth to everything and convince his dads to get together officially and his newfound uncles to admit their own feelings towards each other.

a fic for an AU I came up with for The Outsiders

It started at two, before the young couple knew it that number jumped to 5, then 7, then landing at 9 with the newest stray their middle child brought home that day. The middle son soda always had a way of finding kids nobody wanted to take care of or were unable to. They were considered strays because they followed the boy around. The newest member had joined when he was only 14 as a runaway from New York with no family in Tulsa to care for or love him. It was only natural for the boy to bring this new friend home to his parents. The loving parents accepted all the little boys their boys brought home, they welcomed them in, gave them food, took care of them and loved them unconditionally. They were considered as the neighborhood parents with so much love to give to any kid they met and that needed it or wanted it.

The entire neighborhood was shaken in 1965 when the young couple’s eldest turned 20, lost his parents and became a legal guardian of his two younger brothers in a single night. The table that year when it finally came to the holidays was the quietest it had ever been because it was the first holiday since the brothers and their friends had lost the Curtis parents and they had nearly lost three other members of their ragtag family that year following the Curtis parents, johnny got caught up in an attempted murder charge, ponyboy nearly died in the attempted murder attempt at the hand of a soc then passed out was out cold for a week before regaining consciousness, and lastly Dallas the newest member had robbed a store at the news johnny most likely wasn’t going to leave the hospital and they’d lost his pulse before getting it back although he’d already run off when the monitor started doing a long beep sound and alarming the nurses and doctors and gotten shot at least 5 times after robbing the store wanting to join johnny

Johnny, pony, and Dallas were all considered lucky to have come back to the gang after the incredibly rough week they had. That first year was the roughest for the gang because of everything that year had thrown at them. It was the first year a 16-year-old Kendi Millier-Brown joined them. She was Dallas's cousin and the only family he still talked to after leaving New York and his relatives didn't want to take in the young juvenile delinquent. The young platinum blond girl also fancied the middle Curtis brother though neither was ready for another relationship at the time the two met. She taught him to trust again and took all the overflowing love he had to give without complaint about him being considered too much to handle or too emotional. Kendi was at the table every year after that, so they had a full table most years.

The people at the table during the holidays were Darry, two-bit, Mrs. Mathews, Kathy, Steve, soda, Kendi, johnny, ponyboy, Dallas, and Evie. In 1982 the number of attendants changed, two deaths, one move, and one birth Mrs. Mathews and Kendi died Mrs. Mathews died a few years prior. Kendis death resulted in Sherley's birth and Kathy had moved across the country and hadn't been home for a long while at that point. That made the total at the table 9 that year. One year before the twins were born a young girl belonging to Dallas Winston was also born. Two years that number jumps to 13 with the birth of Steve and Evie Randles twin son and daughter.

By 1985 two-bit Mathews and marcia meyrink had their Babygirl hope Mathews, ponyboy and johnny met and took in a young boy by the name of Tex. In 1995 the total went up to 16 whenever marcia decides she wanted to celebrate as a family with two-bit. Tex's younger brother was born the next year in 1996. In the end two young adults ended up creating a family of almost 20 people even if they hadn't been there for a lot of it, they looked down and looked after their family from wherever they went to after their untimely demise. They adored their ragtag family that had grown so much compared to when it was just the 5 of them.

Most of your days consisted of spending time with the Curtis's. It was just a known thing, you were also the only girl in the gang and they protected you with their lives.

It made you feel so special, they wanted you to feel special because you were the only girl they would ever allow in the gang. Even some of the boys girlfriends didn’t know the gang nor you.

You even got along with Dallas, not many people get along with Dallas Winston and that’s saying a lot. Dallas didn’t just like you because you were a girl and had all the parts, but he liked you because of your personality. You were apart of them and you understood them like no others.

You were also kind of like the mom in the group, when they got into rumbles you would patch them up and take care of them.

You could say that your favorite person in the gang for sure though was Johnny Cade, also known as johnnycakes.

He hardly joined the rumbles, only when they really needed him. Ever since he got jumped by bob he was jumpy to most touch. So fighting wasn’t really in the picture right now.

It was bad enough his parents treated him like they did, but the socs on the other hand was enough to make someone weak and broken.

Johnny would mostly hang out with you during rumbles, you would talk, laugh, and joke around to the point where you started falling in love with the puppy eye'd boy, also another nickname for Johnnycakes.

You really didn’t know how to express your feelings, the only think you knew how to do was ignore people that you liked.

It was a coping mechanism that you had set, it also made everything awkward though. The constant avoiding made forceful comments awkward and even Johnny could feel it.. of course he could.

It made him feel like he was more broken that he realized, though the mechanism you used made you feel better about your feelings it hurt Johnny more, it made him think you wouldn’t ever want to be seen with him or be with a broken boy like him.

He was very insecure in that area, his confidence was definitely not low. From the constant pain he would receive from his own parents and socs just lowered his confidence, therefore he was super quiet so he wouldn’t draw attention to himself.

With that being said you were at the Curtis's along with the rest of the gang, including Johnny of course. He kept the group together.

Dallas started joking around and talking with you, you started interfering back and sparking conversations with him, little jokes here and there but all platonically considering your love for a certain puppy eye’d boy.

Suddenly Johnny felt very left out, he was the only one in the group that wasn’t speaking. It seemed that no one realized well to him, you noticed it but you didn’t know what to do.

Johnny was sitting right next to you, so it made it harder to ignore his heating presents. You were practically touching arms and legs, you could feel the heat radiating from his body and it sent goosebumps up your skin.

Your breathing started picking up once your brain realized everything, your heart sped up until suddenly that warmth was replace with cold air as Johnny got up, stuffing his hands in his pockets and walking outside on the porch.

A few seconds later you excused yourself and decided on checking up on Johnny, walking outside on the porch you close both the screen door and the main door wanting to have as much privacy as the thin house could maintain.

The sound of the screen door closing caught Johnny’s attention from blowing smoke up in the air. You didn’t condone smoking to much, but somehow Johnny always looked so hot doing tricks like that.

You walk over to the rocking chair beside him and take a seat, "hey Johnny" You awkwardly say.

"Y/n" he tilts his head towards you.

You sighed as you let silence fall over you two, "ya know, I never thought I’d say this but I really like you Y/n" Johnny finally admits looking up from playing with his fingers.

Your heart drops as you realize you practically ignored him and he felt the same. "I guess you ignorin' me confirmed you don’t like me back" He says, and you can practically hear the hurt behind his voice.

"Johnny I-" you don’t even get to finish the sentence before Johnny speaks back up.

"It’s okay Y/n, I understand I’m to broken for me to..." He sniffles, getting up stuffing his hands in his pockets and rushing down the street.

"Wait! Johnny!" You speak up rushing towards him, but he doesn’t stop walking except he speed up his pace.

"Johnny!" You finally catch up to him gently grabbing onto his arm and stepping in front of him.

You get a good look at his face, he has tears forming from his eyes. He turned his head away from you, embarrassed from showing you weak feelings.

"Johnny look at me please..." You trail off, using your finger to guide him to look at you. Eventually he does.

"I’m sorry I didn’t say this before, but I love you to Johnny" You admit with red cheeks.

"Really? You’re not just sayin' that because you feel bad?" He sniffles.

"Of course not, I’m in love with you Johnny Cade" You smile grabbing his hands and interwinding them, bringing your body’s closer.

Johnny blushes as he pull you in a much needed hug, he digs his head in the crook of your neck "I’m in love with ya' to Y/n" He states shyly.

You both pull away from the hug, gazing into each other’s eyes "can I kiss you?" You question, wanting to make sure incase you overstepped any boundaries.

Johnny nods and you seal your lips together, his lips press firmly but still gently agains his chapped lips, he tasted like smoke and vanilla and honestly it was addicting to you.

He places his hand on your jaw and pulls you in closer, you both pull away gently "wow you taste' good" You blush.

"I’m sorry that sounded weird" You confirm scrunching you your nose, Johnny blushed as he lets out stutters of words.

"N-no it’s great' you taste wow'" Johnny blushes as he looks at the ground.

"Wanna' go to the lot?" You question grabbing his hand.

Johnny nods as you began your journey to the lot, if anyone would have told you that you would be here 5 minutes ago you would have laughed, but not anymore and you were thankful for that.

no but the fact that everyone else is “we can get by without anyone but johnny” but johnny is “i can get by without anyone but ponyboy” just kills me so much like johnny is important to the entire gang but ponyboy is johnny's person, his best friend, he's the reason he killed bob, the reason he went into the burning church, ponyboy is the safe space, the home that johnny needs and johnny is the brother who listens that ponyboy wants, ponyboy and johnny are each other's entire world and johnny would go through everything again if it meant ponyboy would be okay

What if, during Death’s At My Door, when Pony says that death is following him, what if it’s not following him, but Johnny? I mean for almost the whole musical they were together, so it would make sense I feel?

That thought makes me incredibly sad but it makes too much sense to not be true in my head 😭😭

first son, first grandson, first child. he was born with all the pressure of succeeding.

Graduated at 16, got into Harvard.

He's basically the "burnt out gifted kid" who never really had the chance to burn out. he didn't let himself. he just kept going and going and going until he got where he was expected and beyond.

He doesn't really care for fictional things such as movies or stories or even fictional books. Even when he was in elementary school, he would always check out books from the non-fiction section.

The only fictional books that interest him are the classics.

Not very much of a smiler.

He was always an older brother/authority figure to his younger siblings. As the years went by he just kept losing his inner child and was basically forced to mature by the time he got to 5th grade.

He gets frustrated at people who don't use common sense.

He is a very "you have to see it to believe it" type of person. So in his mind Santa Claus isn't real. Neither are unicorns or fairies. :(

He won't tell anyone but he LOVES American folklore. It's probably the only story he could listen to again and again without pointing out how unrealistic it is. (examples: Paul Bunyan, John Henry, Johnny Appleseed)

He doesn't really tolerate crying. It makes him uncomfortable and he doesn't know what to do or how to comfort the person crying. So he just walks away.

He's never really free to do anything.

He's hardest on Nate & Marion but in different ways.

In high school he was actually quite popular.

He's always in a rush. He gets an assignment, it's completed before class ends. He's always packing up fast, walking fast, he studies for tests fast. Hr has never had a problem with procrastination.

He drinks his coffee black.

He hates sugar, hates anything sweet. Dark chocolate is the way to go for him.

He's one of those people that texts with punctuation and proper grammar.

when he goes to the gym he always makes sure to do 600 curl ups, 300 push ups, 200 pull ups, a trunk lift and back saver sit & reach that are at least 12 inches, and a flexed arm hang for about five minutes
