Did anyone else have horrific and graphic nightmares about being sold into the Viking slave trade because their older sibling decided one night that it'd be funny to read the 7th httyd book to them because they thought it'd be funny or is that just me?
I know it's bad cus I wasn't putting effort in but I saw it on my pinterest and it screamed camicazi
Bored? Make httyd memes. It's easy and it's fun and it's fucking hilarious

Plesioth is next up to be httyd-ified, but progress is a little slow due to this man putting stuff in his mouth that he shouldn't

This is what happens the first time a fan girl goes to Comic Con (New Orleans). This is almost $300. My only regret is not having more money.
Just rewatching How to train your dragon 2... Oh my ! The feels !!! 😭
What I wish the lightfury species could have been (not necessarily the actual light fury character)
Need a runaway Hiccup au, where he runs away after the events of the first movie, riders and defenders of Berk. His entire village doesn't know about the whole Toothless thing and has been lying through his teeth for years, how he lost his leg, why he's always tired, why he is barely around.
He still has Stormfly, Hookfang, Meatlug, Barf and Belch they are like his highly coordinated/trained but still stupid and dumb as fuck ride or die gang, they just don't have riders.
He runs away and forms the Edge that slowly gets bigger as he stumbles upon Heather and befriends Dagur again. Also, Viggo survives his attempt of trying to sacrifice himself for Hiccup and joins the small, slightly batshit insane group.
Hiccup teaches Viggo on ways his tribe can thrive without having to harm or sell dragons.
So now Hiccup is leading this even more ragtag group, that is more or less just Viggo trying to keep his sanity while the others keep egging each other on.
The group that he ends up fighting with in the other 2 movies plus a few
what if i made httyd merch…. what then
httyd rtte fandom how active are yall do you guys want acrylic charms,,, some stickers perhaps
All my Human!Deathsong drawings :)
The cloak design took forever why did I do this again?
The last two drawings actually have more variations, but I put the two I thought looked the best. The list of names has all the current name candidates
Oh and I put this in a previous post, but this little interaction is actually the first time I drew a concept from the au
She's coming to see him at night, and gets concerned when she sees him asleep and without his prosthetic (nor did she understand it was a prosthetic, that's probably pretty bizarre to a dragon outside of Berk's little flock) and doesn't realize that no, he didn't get hurt since you last saw him :(
So then I imagine Toothless is kinda like, "Oh! Oh no, I'm fine, see! I just need a little help to fly higher!" and I managed to make myself cry over dragon romance while making this I'm done for.
So I've got this httyd au idea that I've been sitting on for awhile now, I guess it could be considered as a rewrite or something but I don't see it that way. Anyway here's some ideas for my Colourful Nights AU, I'm still working out the factors so it's not the best.
There's going to be more of my thoughts under the cut (aka the usual Hauntley rambling)
First and foremost, the idea to give Grimmel a night fury comes from this post on reddit
Before seeing this I had 100% planned to just... Not have Grimmel exist in the Colourful Nights au? I kind of hate his whole- thing?
I had the idea of Grimmel seeing what Drago did and deciding that where the man failed was not in trying to control dragons, but instead that he didn't try to control powerful dragons specifically. I know that Toothless is supposed to be an endling, but I think the idea of Grimmel slowly building his own dragon army but with dragons he considers powerful and having a few night furies is cool so. Maybe he kept a couple of night furies back during the mass fury hunts, because having them bend to his will makes him feel powerful? Or maybe he only had one. I'm not sure if I'll even keep it but I like the idea.
For my light fury design (I call her Clearscales), I liked the idea of her being a night fury with some sort of genetic mutation, and I'm not sure if I want to keep the disappearing act or not? I like it but I don't know if it would still work if I gave her darker scales, but also! Would I be able to call her Clearscales still? :( That's a very important part, because I've gotten attached to the name.
I also had an idea that relates back to a fact about the Dramillion titan in rtte, it has the ability to camouflage itself like a changewing because they're distantly related, implying that titans have access to traits the normal members of their species don't have.
So what if Toothless' lightning isn't an inherent night fury skill, but instead a trait of night fury titans? Maybe it's due to a possible distant relation with skrills? I always liked the idea that the "lightning" part of "Offspring of lightning and death" was because their blasts look somewhat like a the result of a lightning strike (at least in the 1st movie), but maybe it's also because a titan was witnessed doing this, and because the second and third movies imply that after the first transformation, the titans don't look any different from the normal members, people just assumed that it was something they could all do, and ontop of everything else, it led to a mass panic and hunt?
I'm all over the place and am in no way coherent, but that's my dumb little idea, if you're reading this I can't believe you actually read what I wrote, or scrolled down through it at least. Thank you :)

So like, I just rewatched the first movie of httyd and I thougt wouldnt it be fucked up if Stoick had decided to lock Hiccup with the other dragons or what.
Cus you know. He said Hiccup "chose" His side with the dragons, and those chains they put on Toothless looked pretty sturdy, so they know how to contain dragons. If he did wanted to be cruel he could have put Hiccup in the chains of smaller dragons and left him with Them.
Thinking about httyd. Migth do something silly and get deeper into this.
So remember that thing I reblogged? Yeah technically, it's not a fic-

100% inspired by Mahogany_Rust's Forever Is My Tomorrow on ao3 by the way, it's great I really recommend it.
I'm alive! And I come bearing art!
I've been getting scared to post OCs lately because I think no one will like them, but that's all I draw basically and I want to share my art, so y'know what? Here! Fanart but mainly my dumb little guys.
Happy Lunar New Year!! 🐉
I love him <3
painting a whole bunch of toothlesses is good for therapy
it amazes me how Valka is the only one Stoick would always aproach to as if she was something so delicate
Okay, I'm sorry... BUT THERE'S A BOOK!!??? I grew up my whole life thinking that the movies were the original and there never was a book! This has changed my point of view on everything. I might try to get the books now, and find out how much their screwing up in the love action.
laughing at the entire conceit of live action httyd being "animation is for babies so we HAVE to remake this shot-for-shot in live action" but also they need to sell a new wave of plushies at universal studios orlando so toothless still looks like a fucking cartoon character
I hate this muttonhead. Idiot. This thing just smiles constantly and makes everyone uncomfortable. Like, what's it's deal?? Why is it always in the most suspicious places and casually a blink away from the Big Important events but no one actually notices??? Why doesn't it have EYEBROWS?? Fucking weirdo.
- Snotlout or Astrid, probably. Sometimes Gobber.
But really, it's EVERYWHERE. The boat cementry? It's right there stealing stuff from the ships. Eel Island? it was looking forward making eel stew and happened to stumble on Toothless shooting like crazy. Viggo's first appearence? Whistle was right around the corner! That time Astrid got the Scrouge of Odin? It was on the island, herding random sheep. How. He's not even a shepherd. During the visit of the Berserkers in RoB? It was actually the first time we see it, and it was a soldier who almost got thrown off Dagur's ship. ON THE SERIES FINALE? RIGHT. THERE. IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE "COMPETING" WITH JOHAN AND STARTING IT'S CARREER AS A MERCHANT.
It was even on the second movie, casually navigating while there was a literal BLOODSHED between two Bewilderbeasts on the island nearby. How does it keep doing this. The only time it approached Hiccup was on the third movie to ask him to make it a Scauldron armor. That's it. It didn't even talk, it just shoved him a drawing of the armor on his face and stayed the rest of the movie on the background until it got what it wanted and kinda moved in?? It never left after that and made everyone deeply uncomformable after the incident-
Also, gotta love *Stomp* a lot, he's such a non-flying patootie. It got very annoying to be stomping on the wooden ground to call him, so everyonejust calls him Stomper hehe.
I'll talk more about it once I bring my second and last Oc, my Shayla.
Until then
Pyro Out1
On another note, I just got to season three and. Wow. Looks like we're finally getting somewhere!
Tbh, I really hated season 1, and season 2 wasn't really memorable except for a few episodes(like the fight between Tom and D'Angelo), but this one? It's actually really cool!
There's more non forced interactions between the characters (+ interactions between the kids and the parents! They have actual personalities and goals now!) and the whole "realm" thing is highlighting the more biological side of the franchise, as well as the references to RoB, DoB and Rtte AND the mistery of the residents that came before.
Not only that, but this season made me like Jun! Which is incredible considering the first impression she gave me, although I think the bad reviews of the show shaped my idea of her from the very start. Still, she feels more organic and complex in a non-cringey way, and is far more relatable! And, to my personal opinion, her issues and characteristics felt-well handled. Really loved the Medusa Episode.
Also, gotta love her older brother, their rilvary is nicely done, and makes me root for both of them. Eugene is such a fun character to see, even if he's a moron, and I found both his and Buzzaw's (I dont know how to spell it) screentime enjoyable, even more their interactions!
I also loved Webmaster, he has the most personality out of the dragons and matches his riders' freak, but I think it would've been better if he was bigger, his legs were a bit more separated or his feet(?) smaller and his face not as roundy. Still love him tho. My favourite duo besides Alex and Feathers.
Still, even if I loved the fact that they showed some of the dragons from the original franchise, it really rubs on how badly done the new designs are. I even got used to them, but when the M. Nightmare appeared you could see how different they were in style. It felt more like a crossover than a continuation of the saga, which, yes, I did say it would be better to be it's own thing, but in the sense of following a unique plot and archetypes, not in defering it's designing. Even if its in another timeline, there has to be a sense of continuity and similarity to remember us that it's Httyd, the saga of dragon riders with very unique dragon designs, not another generic series that just so happens to be about dragons.
Pyro Out!
I may have bever mentioned it, but I'm a Httyd fan to the core, and the hiperfixation is back and it hit me like a bullet train.
So, after going berserker and watching a RoB marathon, I remembered Nine Realms exists, and yes, it gave me the ick, but I decided to try it out.
You see, I dont like hating things, I need a VALID REASON to actually hate something or at least feel that my hate is acceptable.
Add that with my desire to expand the httyd lore and marvel myself with ANY content, ohhh boyy-
So yeah, so far I've seen season 1 and I'm on chapter 3 of season 2, and to be honest? I expected worse, although that show has already done a LOT of damage to my heart.
Like, wtf is THIS????
It's just there. Staring at me. Evil thing.
I literally searched "httyd ugly unicorn thing" and this EMBODIMENT OF THE WORST THINGS ALIVE showed up. There's no way you can tell me that thing is "cute", it's EVERYTHING but CUTE! I also really hated Jun on that episode, but even more the writers. How can you compare something like KILLING in SELF DEFENCE with bringing ducking SATAN to the human world because "I love unicorns??" Girl not even my eleven year old sister would do something like that and she LOVES unicorns. Also, did I forget to say she never apologised? Like, just joked about the incident and acted like Tom was the one in the wrong? What kind of message is that writers!?
On another note, I really like Tom's mom, is the only caracter that seems to be her own person in the entire series besides Alex, hope she doesn't turn out bad or anything.
Which brings me to my biggest problem with this series: It's not its own thing. The literal second episode is just a compilation of parallels between Tom &Thunder and Hiccup & Toothless, and I hate it. "Oh look! It's just like your favorite dragon riders, they are so similar! They are descendant of Hiccup and Toothless, so it's just like seeing them reflected in them! It's the same! Come and let us take your money!!!"
This show is doing everything at its power to be "just like httyd", when it's not: It's a whole new scenario with a interesting concept with the whole ICARUS thing (even though I'm sure they just copied that from Camp Cretaceus, given with how much tnr relies on its own creativity) as well as the one-season mysteries, the semi-likeable teenagers which is asking a lot in media, and a huge chance of LORE EXPANDING (my fav thing everrr) and this show could be SO MUCH BETTER but they just stick with creating parallels and showing how this spin-off is just identical to the other shows and it's exactly the same and ARGGHHGGGHHH-
Let them have their OWN UNIQUE BOND so that we can like them BECAUSE they are TOM AND THUNDER and NOT BECAUSE THEY RESEMBLE HICCUP AND TOOTHLESS. Let me like the rest of the cast BECAUSE WE GOT NEW RIDERS, not because they are all the NEW RIDERS WE'VE GOT.
I want to like this show, I really do, but it's getting harder every time I click the next episode, because there are so many lost ideas, plotholes and terrible designs (which I dont usually complain about, I never minded the character design of any media until this show), that I just pray to myself that the next chapter will be better, because I'm not sure what to expect will ruin my day or make it harder for me to watch.
But I want to be an informed hater, or even perhaps a unlucky enjoyer, so I'll keep watching, and I'll try to undertand why so many people hate it, and justify the few who love it.
Pyro Out.
alright, super hot take, but I personally feel that RoB, DoB and Rtte feel way more canon than THW and I'll die on that hill.
Maybe it's because I watched the series first and then the third movie on the theaters, but I can't help but feel the movie did everyone so dirtyyy (especially Snotlout and Ruffnut)

I feel like the live action can learn a couple things from the stage show, especially color/pattern wise.
These are the two best dragon designs in the whole stage show and the colors are so pretty. The proportions also feel better, they have so much character! I also think the live action needs to be a bit crisper with the animation. The dragons feel weirdly bloomed out and hiccup doesn't really feel part of the scene lighting wise..
I'm not saying this stage show DOESN'T have problems with the dragon designs, just my thoughts of what can be improved.
Also give Hookfang gharial eyes!! They gave the terrible terror chameleon eyes, come on!!
Have you seen the live action HTTYD designs? what do you think?
Honestly I think people are being a bit harsh on them. The big pitfalls I usually see with realistic reimaginings of animated/illustrated creatures is that they either just try to copy the design 1:1, seemingly without a lot of understanding of anatomy/style, or go the opposite direction and treat everything as cartoon exaggeration, toning down or removing features that exist in the real world for the sake of realism. most of these are basically fine on both counts, it looks like the character designers are actually trying to engage with what the original designs are communicating while also not forcing themselves to be 100% fidelic to them. Most of these are not bad designs to me. I will say I 1) don't like the zippleback; maybe it looks better in movement but off the first few images it seems like they just kind of ditched all the interesting (and genuinely reptilian) elements of the original, like it's alligator/lizard-like stance and the way it's spines look like a zipper, in favor of a pretty generic/less visually interesting design:
and 2) I mentioned before I'm really not big on the redesign toothless has throughout the animated movies; the sequels gave him an increasingly flatter, more humanish face with big "eyebrows" and I think it looks way less cute/less like a real animal. the live action design is very obviously referencing this later design and I think it looks pretty rough here too, honestly a bit uncanny valley:
side note: i always thought my harshness on this design choice was a kind of mean hot take but the other day i went into the httyd tumblr tag and man they are so much meaner than me. look at this
