People saying that Hua Cheng apparently has no interests outside of Xie Lian is so wild to me.
He is a sculptor and painter, he rules Ghost City, clearly has fun at the Gambling Den, pretends hes not friends with He Xuan (when they clearly share SOME form of camaraderie for him to LIE to XIE LIAN about it), is very well read (he would have to be, to defeat literature gods) and finally, clearly has fun with aesthetics/visuals, both in his residence and his clothing/powers (he didnt HAVE to go with a butterfly motif, he picked his aesthetic and IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH XIE LIAN).
He is a powerful ghost king who lords over his city and he loves it. Xie Lian also loves it (simp)
You know who didnt have any interests or opinions outside of Xie Lian? Wu Ming. Wu Ming followed him and didnt care about anything but him. And he didnt manage to stop Xie Lian or change his mind, a random guy with a bamboo hat did. In a way? That was a lesson for him. So he goes to Mount Tonglu, and slowly, over the centuries, he becomes his own person. By the time they meet again, he is fully his own individual.
Seriously, just because the guy is madly in love, doesnt mean he doesn't have a life. Dont take that away from him, just for a ridiculous 'hualian's relationship is unhealthy, actually' take.

I like to remember that Hua Cheng's physical body dissolves into butterflies because we use the metaphor "butterflies inside me" when we are fatally in love and he is completely made of this EXACT feeling.

Part 1: Withering Lotus
Xie Lian is a talented multi-instrumentalist who had a meteoric rise as a metal star when his band, White Lotus, released their first EP and got the attention of the prestigious label Immortal Records. When he became the youngest artist to sign with them at the age of 17, he felt that he had the world in the palm of his hand. Three years later, though, a song he wrote tore everything down: he lost his contract, his career, his friends and his family. Vetoed and blacklisted, he was forced to live on the move, as far away from the offices of his old record label as possible, picking little odd jobs related to music in order to survive.
After eight years, a bureaucratic nightmare forces Xie Lian to come back to the capital. He tries his best to go unnoticed, yet he receives two unsettling requests upon arrival: a man in red wants his permission to cover a song he wrote, and a man in white wants him to inherit his mask.

Part 2: Rotting Waters
The story of Heavenly Damnation continues!
During the mid-autumn festival, a fateful encounter allowed Hua Cheng to take his all-time idol Xie Lian away from the grasp of Immortal Records âthe most important label for rock and metal music in the countryâ who were trying to coerce him into signing up for a nightmare. Retreating with him and some members of his own band to a vacation home away from the Capital, Hua Cheng now must make the best out of the couple days theyâll spend together to gather what he needs in order to save Xie Lianâs music. The task isnât easy: Hua Cheng canât tell Xie Lian about his plans without breaking his trust and scaring him away, there are more interests at play, and back in the Capital, Jun Wu loses no time summoning Feng Xin and Mu Qing, Xie Lianâs former band mates and friends, to set a snare in which he can catch Xie Lian as soon as he returns. Dishonest debts, broken feelings and stolen songs start to surface in the muddled waters.

Summary:Â
"Hello, my name is Hua Cheng and there's a demon living in my right eye." It's his good grades, art talent and creative video pitch that got him the principal's okay to set up the After School Paranormal Club. But there really is a demon living in his right eye. And it's in love with gege!
High school AU in which the creepy goth kid is in love with the school's most popular jock. Pining ensues, as do curses, demons, hormones and midterms.

Summary: Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Feng Xin are finally moving in together. They've worked hard to build up their relationship and are wary of unbalancing that. But people change, whether they want to or not. Xie Lian develops a crush on someone for the first time in years, and he wonders how his boyfriends will react. Feng Xin has known for a while that he doesnât like sex, and heâs afraid that saying that out loud will cause cracks in their life together. Mu Qingâs therapy isnât working as well as he wants, no matter how hard he pushes himself. This is the day their relationship reaches a turning point, with their new home as witness.
