Okay nobody send me death threats. It's not that serious! Here are my Marauders Hot Takes:

• Jily and WolfStar are the best ships

• I love Jegulus but it doesn't make sense in canon, but almost nothing else does anyway so who cares

• The marauders would've bullied people in real life because they bullied people in canon- I do think they also would've grown up and apologized for it (except maybe Sirius)

• Snape is a flawed complex character but he bullied children and that will never be okay. He's also literally racist and misogynistic so..

• Harry is a better person than James. He wasn't perfect, but he didn't bully anyone (only had petty rivalries) and was angry when he found out how James treated Snape and that Sirius still thought it was funny. Harry also literally payed for Fred and George to start their business. I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL HARRY IS JUST BETTER

• I will never read All The Young Dudes. I'm sorry. I just don't want to read it

• Rosekiller is a fun ship but you cannot make them good people. Barty literally killed his father in cold blood. Headcanons are fine, but it's just better and more likely that they chose their side of the war knowingly and willingly.

• Sirius is an asshole. He has so many good qualities, but he's an asshole. When he's watered down to just sad, or just fun it's never as good. He needs flaws. That goes for all the marauder

All this being said, write what you want. Read what you want. Enjoy what you like. It's just fiction and fandom and I really don't take it as seriously as this sounds

Things my girlfriend does that I headcannon onto Sirius Black because she’s a Sirius Kinnie and just doesn’t know it:

• holding Remus’ hand while he studies but insisting ‘no this isn’t attachment issues’

• having the most love/hate relationship with their hair- won’t cut it because of emotional attachment but hates how it gets in the way

• having an obsession with smell- ‘did you know you smell like strawberries and tea moony’

• constantly running his hand through Remus’ hair- it’s just comforting

• absolute king of ‘that’s what she said’ jokes

• won’t leave the dorm room without eyeliner

• drama queen!!!(socially and the subject)

• short AF but will always be the one to start a fight

• nose scrunches...I will not elaborate

• playlist icon(one for every mood you can think of)

• embarrassing poetry phase- ‘we don’t talk about it’

• oddly good at debating( and thrives off it)

• will do puzzles when they can’t sleep(which is more often than not)

• musically talented(classically trained)

• love language receiving is physical touch and giving is gift giving

Controversial opinion: I’ve never been a massive fan of Hermione as a character, but I’ve been able to properly explain it. And I saw a video on tiktok saying that she is basically Joanne’s self insert and nothing has made sense more. The fanon version that I do see seems to be just so different to the canon, not to say both don’t have serious flaws. But I’ve never gotten how some people got from one to the other

It’s absolutely crazy to me that jk shitling wrote snape and Harry’s relationship to be an absolutely PERFECT, and I mean like it was a divine sign from god, potential adoption relationship, and then she destroyed snape by giving him an incel fueled “redemption” and then had him killed so he had no way to repair his relationship with Harry.

If you are not convinced, PICTURE THIS:

Severus snape: tired, angry, slytherin, cold to everyone and everybody alive except lily evans which is why I said alive, in danger from being double spy death eater, selfish, cruel, master at potions, professor, weighed down with guilt and grief for his best friend’s death which he basically caused, fueled by hate for James potter and the other marauders, was abused by his father, master at occlumency, lives alone with no other family, has no friends, traumatized, hates Harry for looking like James, in the Order

Harry potter: tired, angry, hot headed, loyal, gryffindor, has only two friends, no loving family, orphan, horribly abused by his shitty relatives, traumatized, in danger from Voldemort and everything else that exists, savior complex, looks like James potter (except his eyes of course), hates snape because he’s a terrible teacher, manipulated by dumbledong, sees his classmates and friends die, kind of in the Order, has no parents

THIS IS PERFECT. THEY FIRST HATE EACH OTHER SO THERE IS TENSION AND MISUNDERSTANDINGS. THERE’S YEARS OLD GRUDGES SO THERE’S DRAMA. THERE’S VOLDEMORT SO THERE’S A THREAT. There is trauma and abuse so there’s hurt comfort. None of Harry’s friends understand his bond with snape so there’s that kind of reflective property of what they used to be like. Best of all they are forced to hide their relationship in public so it’s funny and also loving.

Snape is cold and alone and oh no James potter reincarnated is his student and oh no he’s actually not like his father??? How is he supposed to hate him now??? And the boy is also an abused child like he once was?? SNAPE MUST SAVE HARRY AND ADOPT HIM.

I’ve read a billion severitus fanfics on ao3 and they all have classic things that happen it’s like the Bible at this point.

Snape and Harry hate each other at first. Then there’s an incident (usually always from Harry’s end) that makes them hate other more and they are usually forced into isolation together (either at snape’s house at spinner’s end or shell cottage). Then something happens and snape gets hints that Harry isn’t the pampered prince he was prepared for and the professor slowly discovers Harry’s terrible upbringing (which sometimes reminds him of his own terrible upbringing). There’s occulmency and nightmares for more hurt comfort. Then something dramatic and tense happens regarding the Order/ Voldemort and Harry gets in danger/ pain/ peril, which snape saves him from. After that there’s sometimes a part where snape reveals his tragic backstory and relationship with lily, which makes Harry hate him again for indirectly killing his parents. Then they reconcile and Snape brings up adoption. THE END.

ITS PERFECT. THERE IS LITERALLY NO BETTER CARETAKER FOR HARRY THAN SNAPE (once he stops being a shithead that is).

Draco Malfoy with a Gryffindor

Draco Malfoy is dating a Gryffindor

At first he would fight your connection so hard.

You’re a Gryffindor- bold, loud, righteous- he’s supposed to hate you, but he catches himself staring when you argue in class.

“Stop looking at me like that, Malfoy.” “Like what? Like you’re interesting?”

Eventually, he’d cave. Maybe after a heated argument that turns into a passionate first kiss in a corridor.

He’s not openly mushy, but Merlin help anyone who messes with you.

It’s giving, “God help anyone who disrespects the queen” vibes.

He’s all sharp words and intimidating stares behind your back.

Draco doesn’t want anyone to know he’s soft for you, but behind closed doors? Clingy!

Loves cuddles and praise.

“You’re sweeter than you pretend to be, Malfoy.”

Your relationship would thrive on witty comebacks and playful roasting.

Constantly challenging each other, but with a flirty edge.

“You’re insufferable.” “And yet, here you are, holding my hand in our spot, laying on me like I’m your favorite pillow.”

House rivalry is everything!

Gryffindor wins the Quidditch match and you tease him mercilessly.

He pretends to be mad all day, but then “You had your fun but if Slytherin wins the next match, you’re wearing green for a week. Deal?”

This made me cry but in a good way, art.

Hogwarts houses not as your defining trait but the way you survived your childhood — the way you coped with your trauma.

Ravenclaw is the book you buried your nose in as you put one foot in front of the other. They are the children who stayed under the bed with flashlights to catch the monster under the bed. They are the children who came to believe themselves to be monsters. Ravenclaw is a room where you store all the things you try to forget. It’s spending years trying to think your way out of that room. Its knowing the world is a vicious place and finding wonder in it anyways.

Slytherin is keeping your head down and your eyes open. It’s blood in your mouth and venom on your tongue. Slytherin is being sharp and precise and deadly as a snake because there’s no other way to survive. It’s knowing there’s no space for you in this world unless you’re willing to carve it out. They are the children who learned to bide their time. To wait for the perfect moment to strike. To go in for the kill. Slytherin is knowing there is no justice in this world unless you make it.

Gryffindor is a tightly clenched fist to keep your hands from shaking. Its children who used to hide under the bed. Children who swore they’d never let anyone make them afraid again. Gryffindor is raised eyebrows and hackles. It’s children who know fear like a second skin. They wrap themselves in it like a home. Gryffindor is digging your toes into the earth and widening your stance. It’s matching the lions predatory gaze with a challenge of your own and clenching your jaw so it doesn’t tremble.

Hufflepuff is a pair of trembling hands that hold on tight. It’s knowing that caring leads to betrayal and deciding to care anyways. It’s tear stains and heart strings boldly on display. It’s knowing life isn’t fair but choosing to try anyway. They are the children that know the world is cruel. They are the children that love it anyway.

It’s always interesting when you see a fandom that’s fan content is better than the canon, they looked at it and said “good concept but your executions horrible let me take over”

I’m not a part of a lot of these fandoms but I’m just a fascinated, and it’s so cool to see people really improve a concept, and make amazing content. Some examples of these fandoms (pulled from Reddit) are Miraculous Ladybug, Harry Potter, Merlin, Danny phantom (apparently), ect. I haven’t been in most of these fandoms spheres but Harry Potter just falls apart when you notice things like the antisemitism, Dumbledore supposedly being a good guy, Snape having a promising redemption in theory but the execution being poor as hell.

If you guys can give me more examples that’d be cool anyway just a rant hope y’all have a good day.

Wolfstar FanFic Coming Soon

Hello everyone!

My name is MG Soto, and I’ve been writing a very long Wolfstar fan fiction for about five years - it’s mostly detailing and outlining, so I still have to do the actual writing. It all really started shortly after reading PoA and I just honestly fell in love with the very few details we were given of the Marauders’ lives.

I don’t, in any way, support JKRoach - but I am a strong believer that one can separate the art from the artist.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reading it. It’ll be from 1971-1981; so basically, I’ll be taking everyone on a special journey throughout their years at Hogwarts and the few years before the end. I have a couple of twists up on my sleeve, which I’m very excited about.

Under the cut are some important headcanons I’ll be using throughout the story:

Remus Lupin

1. Remus is an avid reader but not the best student when it came to academics - this comes from the tendency to procrastinate a lot as well as always being out with friends causing mayhem, as you do.

2. Remus has issues with his father, because I just really don’t think Lyall Lupin is just going to forget his strong hatred/ignorance towards werewolves just because his son is one. I think there is so much more we can unpack in their relationship.

Sirius Black

1. Sirius was not automatically okay with being a Gryffindor despite his entire family being Slytherins; it takes him at least a year to warm up to his roommates and the other House-mates.

2. Sirius is the one that keeps his part of the room neat, has pretty handwriting, turns in most of the work on time and checks his friends’ work for grammar errors. You can’t grow up in a household where your parents are constantly drilling their expectations in your head and then leave it all behind overnight.

James Potter

1. James is a POC, Indian, to be specific. His parents are immigrants who had done everything they could in order to get a better life, they try to teach James as much as possible about his culture and language, so that he never forgets.

2. James is the one that makes sure his friends have completed all of their schoolwork before they can even think about having fun. He’s not about to let them fall behind just because they weren’t responsible.

Peter Pettigrew

1. Peter is an actual member of the Marauders. He has his positive and negative traits just like every other character. He falls in love, has his hobbies, and his own friends that are not James, Remus, and Sirius. He’s a person.

2. Peter has a younger sister, which he would do any and everything for. He’s very protective of her, and is willing to do just about anything to keep her safe.

Lily Evans

1. Lily will be an accurately represented plus-sized character. She’ll have her confidence, but also her insecurities like every other skinny or fat girl. Being fat will not be her only character trait, but it’ll be brought up enough to show what it means to be anything but skinny in this society.

2. She’s not going to be a complete stuck-up. I’ve always hated it so much when they showed her like that, honestly, and so I decided that she can be fun and funny too.

Marlene McKinnon

1. She’s a transgender woman. She’s incredibly badass, but also sensitive. She’s my baby, I’ve worked so hard on her (the amount of trans women who’ve helped me is ridiculous, I love them all).

2. She was the Marauders’ fifth roommate, and she is also Sirius’ platonic soulmate. Their friendship’s so pure.

Other Characters You’ll Meet...

1. Mary MacDonald

2. Dorcas Meadowes

3. Severus Snape (not a main character, but an important one)

4. Three (3) OCs

That is all that comes to mind! I’ll be posting the story on AO3 and on Wattpad once I’m done. I’ll be using this account to update everyone on the process (It’s mostly done, but I’m hoping that you guys will help me push through so that I can finish it). Let me know if there are any questions, suggestions, or comments!

To the moon and the stars,

MG Soto

Okay so some Harry Potter opinions/hot take

I love Wolfstar, Deamus, and Scorbus (and TBH WE ALL KNOW WE ONLY READ THE CURSED CHILD SCRIPT BECAUSE OF THEM?!!??) Too much and if you want to fight or criticize me about go argue with the wall 🙂‍↔️🙏

Deamus is very canon in our eyes. Don't fight with me 🙇‍♀️

I didn't like the TCC plot itself (idk who does tbh) but I like the fact that Albus and Scorpius are like two outcasts I relate to them a lot personally...sorry.

Ron wasn't dumb, really. Well he isn't the book smart kind, but he knows how to get his way in most situations 🙂‍↕️

Lavender Brown DESERVES better and I don't understand why she is so hated (probably because she was dating Ron, BUT LIKE c'mon guys weren't they just teenagers? Don't act like you don't have crushes too 💀💀💀- well unless you're aromantic 😅)

OH AND ALSO CHO CHANG. I feel bad for her because she hasn't moved on but Cedric but still she is so hated for some reason????

I couldn't really understand why Ginny dated Dean? I assumed she did that for casual dating, for fun, or to make Harry jealous(?) Idk (oh and also off topic but I have read many fanfics about jealous! Seamus towards Dean and Ginny's relationship and I love them lollll)

But I personally think if Ginny still likes Harry but still dated Dean anyway- I don't know why she would do it just for her and Dean to break up? NOT BECAUSE I think Ginny shouldn't date Dean, but Dean probably thought him and Ginny were in a serious relationship and stuff-

I haven't picked up the books for a very long time but did Harry use the Felix Felicis only to make Ginny and Dean break up? Or are any other factors to that? (Because if so, I think it's kinda mean but I understand the jealousy)

HERMIONE DEFINITELY KNEW GINNY HAD A CRUSH ON HARRY/VICE VERSA BEFORE ANYONE ELSE DID 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

Everyone in the fandom IS a real fan and no one is lesser of a Harry Potter fan than the other

The movies lacked a lot but I enjoy it anyways..

People mostly ship drarry, dramione, Blairon, etc not necessarily because they HAVE chemistry, but because of what they could have been or become and the amount of "tension" that they have (which is not necessarily a good romantic tension but rather about their obsession with each other?)

I don't ship these ships above but I can kinda understand (?) Why people do?

You can be anti drarry, anti dramione, drarry shipper, dramione shipper, wolfstar shipper, jegulus shipper and more (anti) ships WITHOUT personally harrasing...yk...the PEOPLE who ship them. Some of you cyberbully real people over fictional characters...sorry

That's it for now...if you all like this I will make a part 2 of opinions

Okay have a great day :D

This post sums up all of my most recent thoughts. It feels good to see some sense amid all this chaos.

I don't understand why people say that all hp fans are responsible for Rowling’s actions. How? She did that on her own.

Because, tbh, if you're someone who isn't particularly interested in HP it's basically free morality points. It's easy to do absolute fuck all and then point at others and go "see? I'm morally superior to them because I'm not sacrificing ethics for a kids book!"

The trouble is that all of us are in some way 'sacrificing ethics' all the time in order to maintain the lifestyle we've grown accustomed to. And I'll add that in ways that are much more flagrant than simply talking about a book online. I don't see these people being nearly as gung-ho about everyone giving up amazon or twitter or else they're evil, when using those platforms has a DIRECT, completely unambiguous effect on our society. The reason they're so intense about this in particular is because not caring about HP is something they're already doing without expending any effort whatsoever, therefore it's an easy, cheap way to feel better about themselves at the expense of others.

Seeing the idea that reading/discussing a book means you agree with the author politically propagated on here so uncritically has honestly been... idk pretty surprising to me. The bottom line is I'll never agree with the belief that it's morally wrong to read or discuss any work of literature, I'll never agree with preventing anyone (children or adults) from reading any literature. Like ok conservative queens, what books should we ban next?

But apart from that, I think the fact that the conversation around the ruling has become so focused on HP/fandom in general is a problem.

Strategically, it's absolutely BONKERS, like insanely braindead and counterproductive, to try and tie the issue of trans rights to liking Harry Potter or not. Tbh this might even have the opposite effect, and drive (admittedly fairly weak-willed) people away. But weak-willed or not, how is it at all a sound strategy to alienate people from an issue of basic civil rights over their preferences in literature. If you can recognise that people are too 'selfish' (or whatever you want to call it) to give up their interest in HP for purity's sake, idk, change your tactics because this isn't helping anyone. This is what I mean about more focus on the moral purity of individuals and their thoughts rather than on material reality.

I even think some guilt-tripping in the sense of 'all HP fans should donate 10€ to trans charities before they can be absolved of sin' (obviously not phrased exactly like that lmao) would be soooo much more effective in a material sense. Like tbh I think that would be a fairly successful campaign. If you can harness the guilt many HP fans are likely feeling into something more productive and materially helpful than a twitter beef like... idk I'm all for it. But you can pretty clearly see that a lot of this is more about personal validation than anything else-- otherwise HP fans would be viewed as potential allies to recruit rather than, for some stupid reason, the enemy.
