Holiday Special in Mondstadt

This was written for 2020 Christmas and decided to wait to upload it here. Be warned that characters revealed/released after December 2020 will not show up here.

Not a oneshot. Platonic!

Characters: Albedo, Amber, Barbara, Bennett, Diluc, Diona, Dvalin, Fischl, Jean, Kaeya, Klee, Lisa, Mona, Noelle, Razor, Sucrose, Venti.

You are the traveller.

Word count: 4.4k

---

Mondstadt was and is your first and forever home. It would be befitting to say the least, seeing as it was the first place tou stumbled upon and start your official journey to find your sibling. No matter where you are in Teyvat, the title of "Mondstadt's Honorary Knight" will be rung throughout that city and you wore it with pride. So, when Christmas came along, it was only natural to come home to your second family.

"(Y/N), is that you?" A voice, that you'd never forget in the many people you've heard speak, calls your name. You turned around and was greeted with the first local of Mondstadt and a whom was part of the Knight's of Favonius- Amber. "Hey, Amb--"

You were cut off as the brunette ran up and hugged you. You stumbled back a bit before returning her hug with a smile on your face. "Oh my Barbatos! It is you!" If you didn't know, Amber had missed you so and would cry, but she was a big girl to not cry over something silly such as a reunion. "Hey, Paimon is here too!" Another voice stepped in and Amber pulls back. "Oh, hey, Paimon! I'm happy to see that you're here too!" She gave the little, floating creature a smile as well.

"Anyway, what are you doing here? I thought you'd be off and in Inazumi when I heard the chaos died down in Liyue," she states, though still feeling happy that you returned. "Ah, I will.. I returned to Mondstadt to celebrate Christmas with all of you," you say in earnest. "Aw..!" She gave you another hug- this one being shorter.

"Oh, speaking of Christmas, Master Diluc is holding a Christmas party at the tavern tonight for just us- although it was kind of forced," she mumbled the last part, scratching her cheek. "Really? Then I'll be sure to come!" You missed going to the tavern to just loiter around and have a chat with the owner, so you took it as a chance.

"Well, I better be off to do a quick clearing of camps. I'll see you later, (Y/N)." She waves and turned around to walk away. But not even a step forward, you called her name, just remembering something. "I have something to give you," you said and turn to your floating companion who took something out from thin air and gave it you. "We bought you a gift!" It was a small, yet beautifully decorated, red box with golden ribbons.

A smile appeared on the girl's face as she happily accepts your gift. "Aw, thanks, (Y/N)! This is the best gift ever!" You laughed at her words. "But you haven't opened it yet," you point out. "But it's the best since it's from you!" You sigh whilst smiling at the girl and then tell her to go finish her mission.

"Well, where should we go to next?" Paimon asks. You ponder it for a moment, fingers under your chin. Then, "Oh, why don't we go visit Mona?" you suggest, wondering how the astrologist have been. Paimon nods with enthusiasm and the two of you walked to her place, but along the way, you met up with a certain knight in maid's clothing. "Hey, isn't that Noelle?" Paimon asks, pointing at the girl who was just exiting a house, probably was called to help the family in that house. "Oh, you're right! Hey, Noelle!" you call her name loudly, earning her attention.

You jogged up to her with a smile. "Honorary Knight, what are you doing in Mondstadt?" she asks with a genuine look of surprise. "I came to celebrate Christmas with all of you!" you answered and look at Paimon who got yet another gift, one whose colours matches that of the knight in front of you. "And we wanted to give all of you a gift."

She stares at the box in your hand with great surprise. Something so simple, yet so great to her, took her lips and tug it into a smile, looking up at you. "Thank you, Honorary Knight, but you don't owe me anything." You shook your head and push the gift closer to her. "It's Christmas! Of course, I'll be bound to give you something," you say. She took one look at it in your hands before happily accepting it. "Well, I must be off now. Take car of yourself!" You waved goodbye to the knight and continued your way to Mona's house, knocking on the door once at the foot of it. It took a while before hearing footsteps nearing the door. Upon opening it, the girl was caught by surprise at the sudden sight of you. "(Y/N) and Paimon? What are the two of you doing here?" she asks, a look of surprise on her face.

"Surprise!" you and Paimon cheers. "I thought you would have foreseen us coming," you joked, catching the astrologist to a baffled state. "Well, ah, um.. I don't use such power to look over at the littlest of things," she says proudly, earning a giggle from you and Paimon.

"Anyway, what are the two of you doing here?" She clears her throat. "We wanted to return for Christmas!" you answered. "And I also wanted to give you a gift." You outstretched your hand holding a purple box with star-like pattern adorned with a gold ribbon. The female was certainly surprised at the unforeseen event. "I, uh.." Words failed on her tongue, but accept the gift. She had never been given a gift before, so something even as small as your present meant much more than you'd realize. "I, thank you.. It's a wonderful gift," she said. You smiled at the girl, warmth filling up inside you at the sight of her genuinely thankful.

After a short conversation, you bid goodbye in search of the others whom you had planned to give gifts to. Of course, you stopped and gave gifts to the Wagner- the blacksmith- Katheryne, Marjorie, Stanley, and Sara before entering Cat's Tail.

The tavern was full of life with people who wished to seek shelter from the cold while enjoying a good glass of alcohol. Not too far from you, you see Diona behind the bar, making a glass of cocktail and giving it to a customer. You walked up and sat down at an available seat at the counter, waiting for her to come to you. "What can I-- (Y/N) and Paimon!?" she gasped. You smiled at the cat-like girl. "When did you come back?"

"Not too long ago," you answered. "Well, uh, what can I get you?" she asks, talking to both you and Paimon. "Ah, we don't want anything," you say and leave the girl giving you a confused look. "Then, what are the two of you doing here?"

"We wanted to give you a gift." With that, you handed her a pink decorated box adorned with a single, blue ribbon. "It's Christmas, after all." The little female stare at you with surprise. "For me?" she repeats, to which you happily nodded. The girl was then drawn to her mind, remembering that today was the day that she should go to Springvale to celebrate the holiday with her family. "Thank you, I mean it."

You left the tavern soon after, missing the warmth that it brought tou upon entering it. "Since we went to Cat's Tail, we should go to Angel's Share next!" Paimon suggests eagerly and you nodded, agreeing to go to the place next. Nearing the tavern, the booming sounds of laughter and chatter could be heard at a great volume. You opened to door and welcomed the warmth you missed for a couple of seconds when you left Cat's Tail.

A familiar, fiery-haired male was the first to look your way and his eyes reflected that of surprise. "(Y/N)?" The call of your name brought the second, familiar male to turn around in his seat. With a smile and wave at the two, you joined them at the bar, sitting two seats away from the second male. "Hey," you greet.

"Ho~ Why, if it isn't the Honorary Knight," Kaeya greets, a glass of alcohol in hand. "What brings you here, (Y/N)? Missed me that much, huh?" He laughs and you rolled your eyes, turning your focus to the winery owner. "Anything you'd like to drink?" he asks, arms unfolding from their day-to-day position. "What about Paimon? Paimon wants apple juice!" Paimon cries at her dismissal of presence. Diluc eyed her and gave her a quick 'okay' and nod before getting her a glass of apple juice.

"Anyway, I came to return for Christmas," you answered, talking to the Cavalry Captain. "How are you both anyway?"

"I have been doing just fine," Kaeya answers, turning his head to the male behind the counter. "I've been better," Diluc grumbles behind the bar, referring how Kaeya's entrance made his day worse, and gives Paimon her drink. "Aw, come now, dear brother, I know you miss my company~" Kaeya teases, attempting to provoke his older brother, but the stoic-faced, red-head didn't dare do anything, albeit a bit annoyed at Kaeya's presence.

"Ah, I heard you guys are throwing a Christmas party at the tavern tonight," you moved on. "That's right. My dear brother happily allowed us to celebrate here-- with him. I'm betting you that he doesn't want to be alone for the holiday," he grins at the sound of it. "Is there anywhere on my face that shows that I'm a bit happy?" Diluc questions, eyes narrowing as he glares holes into Kaeya, and arms crossed-- truly showing how annoyed he looks.

The interaction between the two of the males was something you had missed and couldn't help but laugh a little. Kaeya turns his head to look at you and smiled at your genuine laughter. "Looks like someone is having a good time," Kaeya points out. You nodded, giving a clear-eyed smile. Then, "Oh, right! I almost forgot to give you guys your gifts!" You turned to look at Paimon who had the gifts in hand. "These are for you two!" You handed both of them their reserved gifts and the two eye at the box with surprise.

It took an awkward second before Kaeya clears his throat. "Thank you, (Y/N). This is the best present." Kaeya smiles softly and ruffles your hair. How long has it been since the Cavalry Captain received a gift? He does not know. He reminisces, recalling the last Christmas spent with his family, where Crepus was alive and Diluc was smiling. That was probably the last time.

"Thank you, (Y/N). I am sure this is a wonderful gift," Diluc says and put the present somewhere safe until the day ends when he could come and collect it. You chatted with them for a while until you had decided it was time to go since you have other people to go give gifts to. "Where are we going next, (Y/N)?" Paimon asks. "To the cathedral." There was someone working there whom you have a gift for.

By the time you made it at the door of the cathedral, you were beat, the way up killing your legs. "Paimon is tired.." Paimon pants, a step ahead of you. You look at her, not understanding how, for someone who only floats, could get tired by floating pass the stairs. You shook your head and straightened yourself up. "Honorary Knight?" Someone calls from your right, on the side of the building.

You and Paimon turn your attention and see the maiden of the hour. "Hey, Barbara," you greet her with a smile. "It is you, Honorary Knight! What wind brought you back here?" she asks in great verve, walking closer to you. "The cold air from Snezhnaya," you answered jokingly.

"Anyway, I came here to give you a Christmas present for the holiday." You handed her a light blue box decorated with glitter and adorned with a darker blue ribbon-- just like the receiver of the gift. She was astounded by the gift in your hand and looks at you. "Is this really for me?" she asks.

"Who else would I climb these stairs for if not you?" The words that left your mouth warmed the idol's heart and accepted the gift. "Thank you, Honorary Knight. May the Anemo Archon protect you in your journey." You nodded and bid goodbye to the blonde and made your way down the stairs. "Are we going to the Favonius Headquarters?" Paimon asks, nearing the end of the staircase. You hummed to her question, seeing as the headquarters was just close by.

You greeted the knights who stood guard at the entrance and made your way inside. You knocked on the door that was the Acting Grand Master's office and hear a mumbled "come on" through the wood. Entering the room, you see Jean and Lisa sitting on the single couch in the office, and Klee on the floor, drawing. "Oh my, why if it isn't the cutie," Lisa greets, standing up. "Honorary Knight, what brings you here? Ah, wait.. You should have send notice of your arrival so that we could be a more welcoming," Jean says, following Lisa.

"Don't worry about it. I actually planned to surprise all of you by coming back abruptly," you say. Klee stood up from the ground and run up to you. "(Y/N), look at this! I drew it!" Klee holds up a sheet of paper with pride, showing you the interesting picture she drew.

"Ah, that's  very nice, Klee," you praised which made the young knight giggle shyly. "Anyway, what brings you here, Honorary Knight?" Jean asks, gaining you attention. "I came to celebrate the Christmas with you guys."

Jean smiles. "If that is the case, there will be a party at Master Diluc's tavern-- I'm sure you have heard of it by now?" she questions. You nodded. "Amber told me about it when I met up with her this morning."

"I see, that is good." You turn to look at Paimon who then again took at boxes from her infinity backpack. "I also came with presents for all of you," you said, gesturing at the three boxes.

"Ooh, presents! I love presents," Klee cheers, clapping her hands excitedly. You smiled and gave her her gift. It was a red box with a darker red ribbon adorned with a custom-made accessory of her bombs that she loves so much. "Yay!"

"Oh, you shouldn't have gone yourself to buy us a gift. Just your return is a great and wonderful surprise from Barbatos," Jean says, to which Lisa chuckles. "Be appreciative that the cutie brought back us gifts, Jean," she says and looks at you. You smiled and gave her a purple box, decorated with purple roses with a darker colour of purple lace as a ribbon. She thanked you and you went on ahead to give Jean hers-- a blue box that was the same colour as her cloak with a golden ribbon. "Then, thank you, Honorary Knight." The blonde smiles. "I'm guessing that we'll see you tonight?" You nodded. "Yeah. And oh, do you know where Venti could be?" you ask, not seeing him anywhere in places where he could be.

"I believe he said that he will be at Starsnatch Cliff," Jean answers and you gave a quick nod before bidding a bye for now. "Paimon don't see why we need to give Tone-Deaf Bard a present too," Paimon states once you two were outside of the headquarters. "Doesn't he get a lot of gifts from the people?"

You chuckled and shook your head. "He is our friend, of course we have to give him something too," you said.  "But before we go outside, let's go see four more people within the walls."

The first two weren't so hard to find as they were both in the same place. "Albedo, Sucrose, hey!" you greet, entering the spacious room filled with strange materials. "A, ah! Honorary Knight, when did you arrive in Mondstadt?" Sucrose greets, fumbling with a tube in her hand when she flinched by the sudden voice that broke through the silence.

"I came back this morning," you answered and stepped inside so you could shut the door from the cool air. "What happened, Sucrose?" Another voice spoke between the two of you, and from the back, emerges the blonde alchemist you were hoping to see around. "Oh, Honorary Knight, what brings you here?"

"Hey, Albedo, just here to drop by and give you two a gift and wish you a Merry Christmas!" you say and had Paimon take out two gifts for the two alchemists, the boxes reflecting that of their colour scheme. "Oh, ah, um, thank you, Honorary Knight," Sucrose says shyly, a small dust of pink on her face. Albedo gave you thanks as well, apologising that he had nothing to give you which you reassure that it was fine.

"We're going to the Adventurer's Guild next, right?" Paimon asks to which you nodded. There was two people that you wished to see.

"A-ah!? (Y/N), you're in Mondstadt?" A certain male bumped into you on your way to the Adventurer's Guild Hall and was quite surprised at the sudden sight of you. "Hi, Bennett!" Paimon greets the young adventurer. Bennett smiles and greets your floating companion. Then, "What brings you here, (Y/N)?" he asks, turning his attention from Paimon to you.

"We wanted to celebrate the holiday here-- in Mondstadt," you answered for the nth time of today. "And we also brought you a gift!" You gave him his present and see his eyes glimmer at the sight. He have been unlucky his whole life and many feared their lives when going on an adventure with him, so often than not, he doesn't receive gifts-- only the elders of the guild does so. "I, thank you so much, (Y/N), I mean it." He avert his eyes from the present in his hand and smiles at you. "You're welcome, Bennett," you said. "I would love to stay and chat with you for a bit, but the sun is setting way too quickly and I have others to see. Let's go on an adventure next time!" The last part warmed the boy and wave goodbye at you.

"What ho," a familiar voice calls upon you not too far away. "Why, if it isn't my loyal subjects. Say, what brings oneself back to thy master?" Before you stood none other than the chuunibyou of Mondstadt, Fischl.

"Mein Fraulein welcomes you back with great surprise and wonders why you are back," her bird companion, Oz, says. "We came back for the holiday!" Paimon says and you nod. "We also bought you a gift. I hope you like them," you said and handed two boxes to Fischl-- one for Oz and herself.

"I, uhm, thank you.." She looks at the presents with eyes agape of astonishment, and her words limited from the surprise. She looks at Oz and back at you and smiled, you returning hers with a smile of your own.

"Are we going to Starsnatch Cliff now?" Paimon asks once you both were outside of the city's walls, to which you nod. When you got close to the cliff, you see a large set of wings flapping in the distance. Knowing who it could it be, you rushed your pace in excitement.

"Venti! Dvalin!" you called, gaining  both of the owner's name attention-- Dvalin looks up whilst Venti turns his head around. "(Y/N)?" A smile appears on the bard's face. "Hey, Venti, how have you been?" you ask, making your way to sit beside Venti and Dvalin.

He chuckles. "I've been doing okay. Not many exciting things are going on since, well, you know.." He hinted at the Dvalin, scratching his head. "So, how was Liyue? Did you meet Rex Lapis?"

"About that.." You went ahead and excitedly talked about the chaos that was soon resolved in Liyue and mentioned how Rex Lapis was now a broke consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlour, earning a laugh from both the bard and dragon.

"The old coot has finally decided to step down, huh?" Venti laughs once more. "Anyway, what brings you back in Mondstadt?"

"Isn't it obvious? Mondstadt is my first home upon arriving here, so I am bound to come when the holidays rolls in," you say and added, "We also brought you two gifts." Having said so, you gave Venti and Dvalin's gifts, a smile spread on your face.

"For me as well?" Dvalin sounds quite surprised and you laugh at the question. "Of course, why should I leave you out?" you question. The dragon remained silent for a while before thanking you in earnest.

"Oh, right, are you joining everybody else at Angel's Share tonight?" you directed the question to the Anemo Archon. "Do you need to ask? If Master Diluc will give me free drinks, then of course I will!" The four of you broke into another joyous laughter.

The sun was now fading in the distance when you and Paimon had to part ways with the other two to make one, last visit. "To Wolvendom we go, Paimon!"

When you were on the outskirts of the territory, the sun was nowhere to be see, and having the moon as your only light source. "Paimon thinks we shouold give his tomorrow.." Paimon quiver, looking anxiously for anything that might come and scare her.

"We shouldn't wait until tomorrow because it isn't Christmas anymore by then," you state. The walk was silent and you had to admit, you started to become anxious, the sound of crickets being the only thing that was making noise scaring you. You wondered where the wolf boy could be and if he was still out, wandering the forest.

In the dead silence, sound of bushes rustling in the distance came about, scaring both you and Paimon. "Eep! What is it?" Paimon asks, using you as a shield. You took out your sword and took a stance, waiting for whatever was hiding in the bush in front if you.

Then, to scare the both of you even more, the creature leapt out of the bushes. "AHH! Don't eat Paimon!" She closes her eyes and cowers behind you. You took a few moments before realizing what it was that you were staring and sighed a breath of relief, looking at Paimon over your shoulders. "Paimon, it was just a boar." The boar was long gone when it leapt from the bushes, frightened for its life.

"Oh, ah, that's good," Paimon says awkwardly. But wait, "Hey, what do you think it was running from?" you ask, remembering how it didn't simply walk out of the bush and ran, but was running through it as if it was being chased.

As if on cue, more rustling of bushes came from the same direction, but this one shaking the bush to its full extent. You readied your sword and Paimon returns to cower behind you.

It felt slow, but when the thing emerges from the bush, you were surprised to see who it was. "Gah, please don't eat Paimon!" she pleads with her eyes closed.

"(Y/N)..? And Paimon?" The sound of the person's voice made Paimon realize who it was and she opens her eyes. "Razor! So, it was you who was chasing the boar?"

"You see boar?" Razor's eyes lit up. "Yeah, it ran past us just now," you answered, seeing the boy droop his head down. "Ah, do you want us to catch you a boar?" The silver-haired male shook his head. "No need.. Want extra food.. For night.." he says. Ah, he was having those late-night cravings. Understandable, you mentally agree.

"What is you.. Here? Left adventure.. Night now," he asks. You smiled. It has been a while since you last talked to the wolf boy, so seeing him the same as before felt kind of comforting to know. You outstretched your hand with the present and said, "Merry Christmans, Razor."

The boy stare at the object in your hand, a bit confused and stare back up-- into your eyes. "This is for you," you said and urge him to take the gift. "For me..?" You nod, watching him hesitantly take the gift off of your hands. "Razor heard.. Of Christmas. Now know gifts," he says, feeling a bubble of happiness well up inside him. "Thank you.."

"You're welcome, Razor. I wish you a happy holiday with your family," you said, referring to his wold pack. He nods and bid you farewell, waving a hand at your retreating figure, a wolf soon appearing beside him and hint him to go back

"Paimon is hungry," Paimon cries. "Well, it is about time we should be heading to the tavern now, so just a few more walks and you can eat," you said, agreeing that you were hungry as well.

The tavern was filled with light emitting through the crack if the door. Pushing it wide open, you were greeted by a whiff of sweet aroma coming from the many food set before you. "(Y/N), Paimon! Glad you could make it!" Amber was the first to greet, a smile on her face, others quickly doing the same.

"(Y/N)-- hic-- come join me and have a drink!" Venti waves on over, a glass in hand. The bard had long started before all of you, wanting as many of the free wine he could get his hands on. You laughed at his state, joining him at the bar with Diluc behind it, a look of disbelief visible on his face.

The night was filled of warmth with merry people-- eating, drinking, chatting, laughing-- whatever floats your boat. Paimon was stuffed and couldn't take another bite. You watched the people who became your first family, a smile slowly spreading your face, happy of the choice to return for Christmas and join your very first Christmas in Teyvat with your family of this world.

Happy holidays everyone and have a happy new year! ^♡^

║Scaramouche║Tsundere

From Wattpad.

Gender-neutral.

Fluff.

Word count: 1k

---

It was a secret and a secret shall it stay.

The sixth Harbinger is harsh, cruel, cold, and sadistic. That is the image he painted for himself so if he were to be caught dead with a lover, what would come to the reputation he built up himself? He is not one to show kind emotions towards any of his subordinates so he shouldn't be lenient with you.

"Are you mocking me?" Scaramouche snaps at one of his subordinates, looking down at the underling as if they were the most disgusting thing he has ever saw. "N, no, I'm not, my lord.. I spoke out of turn," they stammer, feeling humiliated as he is being scolded in front of you and other Fatui members.

No one spoke up, forced to watch the scene before you unfold. He was scary, you admit, but there was a charm to him that drew you in-- a charm that no one else but you know. "Tut. I have no time for pests like you," Scaramouche snarls. "Leave my sight."

"B, but, my lord, the Tsaritsa--" "I don't care what the Tsaritsa ordered you. I don't want you here." His eyes reflected his tone; harsh. "If you want to live, then you best not make me angry."

The underling quickly left, but not before paying respect to his superior out of fear, and to never return to his ruling. Once gone from sight, Scaramouche's expression fell to a relax one. "All of you.. Just go. I can't deal with this." He sighs, massaging his temples.

His subordinates turn to leave, not daring to say anything more to upset him-- unless they had a death wish or something. With one more glance at the Harbinger, you turn to leave. However, you were stopped by his commanding voice. "You stay. I have things to talk to you about," he beckons you back.

You could feel the uneasy stares you're receiving from the other Fatui underlings, but did not dare wait to find out what sort of bullying you'll receive.

Once gone from sight, Scaramouche sat on a fairly large rock and sighed, using his arms as support to lean back. "Damn those pests. All they are good for is being stupid," he states to no one in particular, closing his eyes.

You stood there, observing the short male silently. Then, "What are you doing just standing there?" he asks, his deep coloured eyes reflecting off of yours. He pats the empty space beside him, silently ordering you to come sit.

Once you did, he rested his head on your lap, hat off on the ground. "You're not going to ask for permission?" you joked, gone was your silent and diligent persona now that there was no one else around. "Shut up.." he mumbles, but after a while, he asks, "You don't mind, right?"

You chuckled. "Not at all," you answered, putting a hand on his head. "Good." Your hands began to move on his head, stroking his soft, indigo hair. He sighs to your touch and feel his shoulders relax.

Enjoying the silence, you thought back to when you were a fresh recruit that was assigned under his ruling. You were scared, honestly, when you heard other Fatui underlings whisper how cruel he was to his subordinates-- even going as far as to leave physical scars on their body.

However, you could say that you have gotten the shorty's amusement and even his heart. It was strange when he first approached you on your day away from him-- who knew he could be infatuated to a weaker person than he was? Well, none of that matter now. All you need to know- and he'll remind you again- was that you were his.

Honestly, you wished that you two could leave the Fatui and abandon your duties as a member, but you knew that Scaramouche seeks something that only the Tsaritsa could offer and wouldn't give it up for the world.

"Hey, why did you stop?" he asks, upset that you stopped stroking his head. "Oh, sorry.. I didn't realise I did," you chuckled. He huffs, but relaxed once again under your touch, closing his eyes as he does.

"Hey," he calls shortly after silence. "I'm not 'hey', Scara," you jokingly reply. He clicked his tongue at your one sided humour. "Whatever. Uh, could you.. Uh.." he trails, the words after the dying on his tongue.

"Hm? What was that, Scara?" You look down at the Harbinger, seeing his cheeks slightly tinged with pink. "C, could you, uhm.." The dusted pink began to brighten up, visible to you that you are sure that the light isn't pulling any tricks.

His eyes averts to somewhere else as he tries to speak. "Can you.. Tell me those words..?" he finally mumbles out. You blinked a couple times, registering his words but coming up empty. "Huh? What words?" you ask, hoping he'd answer.

"Y, you know.. The one where you.." He pauses, his face warm and tingly from the blood rushing to his face. "Like me..?" he whispers. It was barely audible, but you heard it.

Your lips cracked into a smile and you cackled. Who knew that he could be so cute? You laughed so hard that tears were forming at the corner of your eyes. "H, hey!" Scaramouche's face turned a deeper red, feeling embarrassed and wishing that he didn't say anything at all.

He clicks his tongue and turn on his side to face away from you. "Hey, hey, don't turn away from me," you out a hand on his shoulder, trying to budge him to turn him onto his back again

Your laughter now dying out, you stare at the shorty's side profile. Knowing that he won't look at you, you catch him by surprise by placing a kiss on his cheeks. And finally, he turns, face flushed as he touches his cheek. "I love you, Scara." You gave a close-eyed smile. His heart fluttered, but he wouldn't say that out loud-- not even in a million years.

Still having him lie on his back, he averts his eyes once more. ".. I, I know that.." Chuckling, you leaned closer to his face and instead of a kiss on his cheeks, you placed your lips onto his, catching him suprised yet again.

Scaramouche stares at you blankly, the wheels turning in his head visibly represented by his expression. You grin, making a small comment, "You're such a tsundere."

With the sound of the bell the hang just above the entrance, you would be greeted by the smell of a freshly brewed cup of coffee mixed with a sweet aroma from the many pastries that you would see before you.

Working at the cafe was no easy feat with the many people coming in and out in random times but as a university student that still had to pay for their tuition and dormitory whilst still having extra money left over for food, you couldn't complain. Well, not that you would complain. You found joy in being a barista.

"(Y/N), you're zoning out. Come on, we still have customers to serve to." Barbara taps your shoulder, gaining your attention. "Ah, sorry," you muttered, turning to your station. "Hehe, there's no need to apologies. I assume that you have an exam coming up?" she asks, eyeing you from the corner of her eyes as a customer waltz inside. You hummed and nod slightly. "It's a good thing that I met Master Diluc. Otherwise, I don't think I would be cut out to major in business."

After getting the order from the random customer, she returns to have a chat with you. "Stop with the 'Master Diluc'." She laughs. "It's a bit old-fashioned, don't you think?" And indeed it was, but he comes from a wealthy family so you saw it best to address him formally. "And don't be so hard on yourself and say negative things about your own capabilities! You entered this university by your own smarts! Diluc is smart as well, yes, but he got in due to connections along with his brother. That says something a lot about you."

Barbara was always good at cheering people up and supporting them. One can tell that she was quite popular in high school. She wasn't in the same major as you so you ended up being friends through working in the same cafe. She majored in music-- not that it should surprise anyone. With one look at her, you could definitely tell without even knowing her personally. You saw it best that she would become an idol and her personality will help her with that.

You smile at the blonde. "Thanks." She waves her hand in front of her in small motions in dismissal. "I'm just stating facts." You both returned your focus on your job afterwards, listening in on the chatter of others instead. Most were students so they mainly talked about their studies.

The bell rang once again, getting your attention. Coming in, was a usual customer that you learned comes around at 2 in the afternoon; during your shifts. Yes, there were other customers that you would recognize-- making them usual customers as well but this one was quite distinctive, you'd say. He had dark hair that was always braided on both sides of his head that had a natural teal at the tips of it. He would always come alone, only carrying his backpack- that had his laptop- and a notebook.

You don't know who he was but you figured that what made you so intrigued with him was his fluorescent green eyes that would seemingly glow even in the day. It was truly unique.

You look at Barbara who was busy making another customer's order and decided that you would be the one taking his order. Coming up to the counter, you put on a smile as usual. "Hello, what can I get you?" you repeat the words that you grew to familiarize yourself with as if you were a robot being programmed to say it to people you take orders from. In fact, you already know what he will get but it was something you had to say every time.

"Hi, can I get a venti-sized Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino and two double-chocolate chunk brownie?" he says, not needing to look at the menu. You nod, punching in the code of the ordered drink and snacks. "Please wait at the side." You see him walk away from the counter and take his phone out, seemingly texting somebody.

You made the drink in no time and brought it over to the pick-up counter along with his brownies. "Thank you," he said and take his order, then walking to a table and place his things. He sat down and took out his laptop and started jotting things down in his notebook, looking up at the screen from time to time.

You noticed that he brings in new notebooks every week. A waste of paper, you thought. You wonder what major he was in to go through so many notebooks each week but it was rather hard. You guessed business, but you have never seen him around the area so that flopped. He looked like a porcelain doll with his small, pale face and skinny body- that looked as if it would be easy to break- that you guessed he was probably majoring in one of the arts-- visual arts, drama, music. Something that someone with his size could take. You asked Barbara if he was majoring in music but she answered that she has never seen him around.

Well, no matter. The thought alone doesn't bother you as it doesn't hold any importance.

-

The following week, you didn't go to work and so did Barbara. Well, it wasn't as if you chose not to go to work, rather, it was because the cafe was getting renovated so it had to temporarily close.

Since you had no work to go to, you focused all your energy in your studies. When you aren't studying, you enjoy what little time you had to relax before suddenly getting the urge to study even more so that you don't fail-- sometimes even studying with Diluc outside in the campus grounds.

During those times, you looked out for the guy who usually came to the cafe in the afternoon but to no avail. At this point, you are wondering if he truly goes to the university. That was soon to be answered, however, when you went shopping for more school supplies. The area was located closer to the entrance of the campus so it was quite far away since your department was across the place. The department that was closest to the stores was the arts. It was always lively there with the students showing off their talent and skills. You loved going near there because it looked fun.

After purchasing the needed supplies, you walked back whilst looking at the students and whatever they were up to. Once near the exit that would say that you were no longer in the arts, you hear the strumming of a guitar not too far to your left. It was a rather familiar music but you didn't know what the song was or where you heard it.

You would have just acknowledged that it as a good piece of music and walk away if it wasn't for the fact that when the music stopped, a sigh was heard and the person shifted, allowing you to see their side profile that hid behind a small tree.

Your eyes widened at the sight of the person that dawned familiarity. You finally found him! With that said, your question as to what he was majoring was answered. Music. Looking at him, you see that he looked somewhat annoyed, looking at a piece of paper beside him, brows furrowing. All those papers that you have seen him scribble onto and later crumble it because it dissatisfied him were most likely his other works.

He was so focused on fixing the notes in his paper that he has not felt you watching him. His state made you pity the male. It was most likely a stressful thing to make music with the right notes that satisfied oneself. He was most likely here because the cafe was closed.

An idea came to but you don't know if you should go through with it, not wanting to appear like a creep to him by making a homemade Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino and giving it to him. That thought was quickly changed and decided that you will do just that tomorrow when you looked at him a bit longer.

-

You waited until it was 2 in the afternoon to make him his frappuccino and bring it over. You were glad to see him at the same spot at the same time. Otherwise, you wouldn't know what to do if he didn't show up. Now thinking about it, you always see him at 2 in the afternoon and wondered if he knew of his routine.

Walking closer, you see that he had more papers and notebooks than what he usually brings to the cafe. "Um, excuse me.." At that, you felt awkward that you walked up to a stranger and began a conversation just to give him a drink.

He looks up, his eyes seeming to glow brighter when they landed on you. "Oh, aren't you the one working at that cafe?" he asks, not needing to specify which cafe since he remembers you. You hummed and nodded. "Aren't you majoring in business? What brings you here?" Your breathing hitched when you saw him smile that you almost forgot the reason as to why you were there. It was adorable.

"Huh? How did you know I majored in business?" you ask. "When you aren't working, I see you studying with Master Diluc.. And I heard your conversation with Barbara from time to time," he answers. "Eh? You know Diluc and Barbara?" Your eyes widened in surprise.

"Well, I know Master Diluc because my brother has a business relationship with his father. As for Barbara, I see her exit class every time I go in," he says. Ah, so that's why Barbara doesn't know him. They have different times, you thought. "Anyway, care to answer my question?" His smile was still on his face when he asked. He seemed more relaxed than when he was working in his music. "Oh, right, I saw you yesterday and thought that you might need something sweet." You offered him the frappuccino as well as some homebaked brownies. "Ah! Thank you." His closed smile soon reveals his teeth, closing his eyes that crinkled at the corner. He accepts the drink and snacks. "Hey, why don't you sit down? It is a long walk from where you came from, yes? And it would be rude to just shoo you so soon." He pats the empty space beside him. "Ah.. Okay.." You hesitantly agreed, not wanting to make him sad at your early leave.

When you sat down, you suddenly felt more aware and felt the awkward tension-- well, you only felt the awkwardness in the air. He seemed fine, sipping the drink freely. Then, "Wah! This is good," he compliments. "I can tell when you make my drink and when your friend makes them." He leans close, putting a hand near his mouth as if to whisper to you. "Don't tell your friend, but I really like it when you make my drinks." He winks. You chuckled, feeling warm inside. "So, what is your name?" he asks, leaning away to give you space. "(Y/N). What about you?" "Venti!"

You smiled. "So, Venti, do you only play the guitar?" you ask, eyeing the wooden instrument on his lap. He shook his head. "I play instruments from all families-- the strings, woodwind, brass, percussion, keyboard, and guitar," he says. "However, I don't play the bigger instruments that require to be picked up because they are too heavy. I also don't really like drums. I find them too loud." You were amazed to know that he could play so many instruments. You have only tried a hand at the piano that you later gave up in high school.

"Which instrument do you like the most?" you asked, seeing as he already said which instrument he doesn't like playing. "Oh, that's easy! The lyre!" His eyes sparkled at the thought of the instrument. "There aren't many occasions where I can play the instrument so I play other instruments like the guitar."

It could be because your major was not appealing and boring that you found yourself interested in the topic at hand and started asking more questions. "Did you get a teacher to help you play the instruments?" He shook his head. "I have lots of books at home to learn from so I taught myself." If you weren't already surprised at his talent, you would be now. "All those instruments?" you ask. He nods proudly.

"Oh! Since you are here, care to listen to a song I've made?" he asks, eager to show you what he could do. You nod excitedly. He laughs and adjusted himself to be more comfortable when playing the guitar.

The song wasn't finished but it was enough to have you breathless. "I don't know how many times I had to rewrite the same notes but I hope this one sounded better?" he asks, turning to you when he stopped playing. You nod. "It sounded amazing!" The compliment made him bashful, scratching the back of his head as he chuckles. "I'm glad you think so! I hope I can finish this soon." He turns his head to look at the paper before returning his focus on you. "Will you listen to it when I finished?" You did not hesitate and nodded.

It wasn't too long since you two started chatting but it felt as if you guys had been friends for a long time. When the cafe opened the following week, you greeted each other with a smile with you already punching in his order that you have memorised by heart.

"Here is your Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino."

It is time..

He had fulfilled his duties as a spy and so, it was time for the rightful heir to the throne to return to his home, Khaenri'ah. However, he guilts the thought of going back. In the beginning, he only had one reason of lingering around Mondstadt for a while but now that that he was done, there was really nothing left holding him back to return. So, why is he wavering?

His eyes- both visible- stare at the oh so familiar ceiling of your home. He had grown to love the sight of it over the years. His eyes seemed to sparkle in the night, a hand behind his head. Those eyes if his had always been unique and mysterious apropos to others one would meet along the way. It held a secret that makes one so interested in the soon-to-be former Cavalry Captain, but they could never unveil the truth behind them-- not even you.

Not even you who lay beside him bare and snuggled against him, a hand on his chest. Not even you who was most closest to the knight. If you couldn't do that, who could?

You made a sound during your sleep, gaining the attention of the man. His eyes glistened upon landing sight on you. His heart raced at everything you do. He was happy with you, but he also bitterly blames you for being the reason he was hesitating. Why did you go make such a man fall for you? No, what was it about him that made you fall into his arms? Surely, you could see just how scary those eyes of his, right?

Honestly, you were the first to approach him knowing the darkness that he had carried since young. You dare not question what his past was or where he came from. You openly loved him, but he was going to be your heartache.

If only, he thought, if only he didn't fall into the hole you had made, he would leave Mondstadt all behind without looking back. When did he trip? Was it the first glance of you? There was really something about your eyes that intrigued the male.. Yeah, that was probably it. Something in your eyes shone something he had not seen in himself. Your eyes were free of hidden motives and your quick-witted actions proved that.

Maybe, he was interested because he felt jealous of you. Jealous that you didn't have to carry a burden of a task since young. Maybe he had gotten close to you to take that glimmer in your eyes. After all, he was a man with ulterior motives, no?

Ah, that did no good to Kaeya. He tried to convince himself over and over that there was something he wanted to take from you but as you lay bare beside him, he felt himself at a loss.

You mumbled in your sleep, once more making sounds to gain the attention of the male. Whatever you were dreaming about, it obviously was a pleasant one. He chuckles lowly and put his free hand behind the back of your head, moving you closer to his lips so he could place a kiss on the crown of your head.

"I love you."

-

The clacking of hurried heels and boots greet you upon entering the headquarters. It was early in the morning but everyone was jolted awake and masked with a stern look, brows furrowing as they rush past you.

You knew what was happening. Otherwise, you would still be lazily getting out of bed. "Acting Grand Master," you greet the blonde whose back was facing you. The call of her title brought her attention from another knight to you. "(Y/N), I'm so glad you're here. Have you seen Kaeya?"

Indeed, you have seen Kaeya. Hoewever, it was just a glimpse before your tired eyes fluttered shut for another hour. "No, I haven't." Jean sighs but did not dwell on the thought of the captain. "Well, we'll just pray to Barbatos that he comes soon. We need all the hands to protect the city from the Abyss."

Something inside you churned. Something was calling out to you that you failed to listen. What is it? Why was dread washing over you at the thought of Kaeya? Surely, he would be fine to take on a couple Abyss mages and hilichurls, right? Well, it doesn't matter. Even if he can take down a whole army, you should still be by his side, fighting with him.

Not waiting for orders from the Acting Grand Master, you made a bolt towards the gate. Jean shouted your name but you ignored it as that churning feeling grew inside you. "Kaeya.."

The entirety of Mondstadt was surrounded at all fronts. All sorts of Abyss mages and hilichurls attacked like savages, using this chance to take down the city while the rest of the troops were still coming their way.

Your eyes darted around, hoping to see the Cavalry Captain somewhere amongst the many men who were trying to by more time for backup to come.

You bit your lips, drawing out the blood to trickle down. Where in Teyvat is Kaeya when you needed him most? It wasn't the time for him to go drinking in a bar, getting wasted.

Not wanting to waste more time dwelling on the thought, you took the lead, running past the other knights and heading deeper into the battle. "Captain!" A knight had called your title but you dare not turn around. Something was telling you that Kaeya was further in, and you were going tl follow it. Knowing Kaeya, it does sound like him for him to rush before anybody else. "Please, Kaeya.. Please be okay."

Clearing any enemies in your way, you felt your heart become lighter at the sight a his familiar back, but you dare not break into a smile. It would just make you lose your focus on the fight.

"Kaeya!" You called, but that failed to reach his ears amongst the chaos around. You were drawing near, noticing that the army started to grow thin in the back.

You were about to call him a second time but the words got stuck in your throat, seeing that the male was talking to an Abyss mage. It confused you. Why is the Abyss mage bowing to Kaeya? Why isn't it attacking Kaeya?

The mage looks up, eyes looking past Kaeya and onto you. "Your highness, behind you," the mage gestures him to look behind. Wait, did the mage call him 'your highness'?

Kaeya turned around to look at you, revealing you both of his eyes that held no warmth as usual when they laid upon you. You were stoned into the spot, mouth feeling dry. What were you supposed to say at this point? Your head dizzied, wanting to collapse on the ground for support.

When your silence was prolonging further activities, his eyes narrowed coldly and his mouth drew a wider frown of displeasure. "(Y/N), what are you doing here?" His voice was montoned and no longer spoke in a flirtatious manner.

The mystery behind his eyes were revealed to you; the mystery that all of Mondstadt wanted to know yet could not get close enough to know.

You gulped back the lump that grew. Surely, there is some misunderstanding, right? Kaeya just wanted to toy with the mage before he killed it, right? Yeah, that has to be it. "K, Kaeya, Acting Grand Master wants you back and help protect Mondstadt.." Your eyes slightly widen in desperation, searching for the truth.

"Oh? Does she now?" A smirk tug his lips yet his eyes stayed the same. He turns his full body to face you and rested his knuckle on his hip. He was toying with you. "Y, yeah.. You better get back before she gets mad at you."

Kaeya chuckles at the look in your eyes, knowing that look all too well. "Why should I go back? I'm not from here so I have no reason to protect it." He shakes his head, all the while smiling. "(Y/N), I'm sure you already know that I am not from here, yes?"

"Where are you going with this, Kaeya? Please stop playing around and come back," you spoke with a shaky voice.

His smile drops. Were you seriously trying to convince yourself that he was a good man? He sighs and walks close to you, grabbing your chin in his hands. "Oh, (Y/N), you could be so cute at times. It almost makes me want to take you with me," his words were sincere. "But the land of sinners is not a place to call home for someone like you. So, be good and listen to when I say to stay." A flick of sorrow failed to catch your eyes.

Kaeya had not slept that night, waiting for the sun to shine through the curtains to tell him that it was time. As much as he wanted to stay with you, he was a sinner who ruled a land abandoned by the gods. He had no place in Mondstadt- with you- knowing his origins.

A tear slipped from the corner of your eyes, but Kaeya did not dare to wipe it away in fear that his heart would waver.

"Be good.. Protect Mondstadt.." He shows you one last genuine smile that you loved. His eyes allowed itself to show you his true feelings for you once more as well which just made your heart squeeze itself.

He brings your face, your lips, close to his. He was giving you one last kiss. A kiss that you would miss for as long as you lived. A goodbye kiss.

Tears left your eyes as he deepened the cherishing kiss.

He soon pulls away, watching your tears fall silently onto the ground. He smiles and turns on his heels to walk away, the Abyss mage following close behind him.

Your legs gave in and fell onto the ground as you watch the man you loved walk away from you-- never to return to Mondstadt-- to you.

Kaeya dares not to look behind. If he did, he had a feeling that he'll run up and hug you to stop those tears of yours. This was goodbye.

"Forget me and find someone else, lest you will be broken."

Your heart beat with inconsistency everytime you looked at her. From her graceful movements as she diligently does each tasks to small things such as staring at her eyes, lips, and nose-- they were all beautiful to you and you don't think that you would ever get tired of her even after years invested into the relationship.

However, no matter how beautiful she looked, a frown crept up your face as you watch her talk to the Cavalry Captain right outside of the Knights of Favonius' headquarters. She looked drained of energy-- no, she is drained of energy and the bags under her eyes proved that.

Lately, work has started to took a toll on her, but she couldn't rest just yet. However, she has made sure to eat something once every couple of hours to get some temporary energy boost. It was something you reminded her time and time again, all in a light tone since even if she did forget to eat, you would bring her homemade food and force feed her.

"Oh, right, I should probably get going.." you mumbled, remembering that you still had something to do and can't loiter around and watch Jean at work.

With one more glance, you walked away from the scene and soon, out of the city's walls. What you had to do dealt with you going all the way to Starsnatch Cliff.

The breeze was perfect with it not being too cold and when you got there you stood near the edge of the cliff, looking at the green below. It would be a frightening thing to do but to you, it made you feel free. You extended your arms on your sides and closed your eyes, a smile appearing on your face.

You stood there for a while before turning around, eyes landing on a large rock that was surrounded with cecilias. Walking closer to it, one will see that there was a gravestone to it. Crouching down in front of it, you extended your arms to touch the stone, your fingertips tracing the outlined words that was engraved into it.

A sigh escaped your mouth unknowingly and your smile hid no longer that bitterness you held when you look at the stone. "How long..?" you muttered.

You didn't want to stay long so with one more lingering stare, you stood up and brush any dirt off of you and return to the city.

Walking past crowds of people, you returned to the headquarters. Quietly, you opened the door to Jean's office and smiled when you saw her asleep on her desk. It wasn't the best of places to sleep, but at least she was sleeping.

Walking around the desk, you reach your arms towards the sleeping female, but stopped when you saw tears streaming down her face. "(Y/N).." she sniffles. Your heart ached, suddenly feeling bitter.

You forced a smile, although it did nothing to mask your sadness. However, what was done was done and you could not revive the dead.

Yes, you are dead and have been for quite some time.

Memories of time not long ago suddenly came and reminded you of the happy times you spent with the female. The memories leading up to your death was not a happy one, however. It consisted of fighting and battling an inevitable end.

You closed your eyes and remembered the events that occurred just moments before your death. It was full of tears that night.

"I can't take it anymore, (Y/N)!" the blonde shouted, grabbing your shoulders harshly. "Can't you do it for me? Can't you try to fight for me!?"

You averted your eyes to the ground, tears streaming down both of your faces. "We can do it together!" "Don't you love me?" You remained silent, taking all the words she had once said as your heart continued to break. Then, "I do love you.." you said. "Then why can't you try..?" She fell on her knees and cried onto you, gripping your shirt tightly, fearing that you would leave at that moment.

That night was full of tears and sobs were the only sound to be heard in that house that night. Hesitantly, you gently tried to pick her up. "Hey.. Let's go to sleep now, okay?" you whispered gently, getting her to look at you. "I promise I'll try, but I'm feeling tired right now so can we pick this up tomorrow?" Oh how it was such an obvious lie that the blonde easily fell for.

Sniffling, she stood up and nod, energy drained from the constant battle she had to go through with you. That night, she held you tightly and she buried her head on your chest.

Afraid that you would leave that night, she stayed awake. "You'll try.." she croaked, her mouth dry from the shouting. "You'll get past this, (Y/N), so please try.."

You brushed her hair, also awake deep into the night. "I'll try.. For you.." It was yet another lie that rolled off your tongue so easily and she believed it.

The next day, you knew you could no longer make her go through your own battle with you. She had a bright future ahead while you were lost in the dark. You were too blind to see that light that was in front of you-- the one who was helping you fight the monsters that tried to- who eventually succeeded- get you.

When Jean was at work, you took that chance and took what was to be your last stroll all the way to the top of Starsnatch Cliff-- the last place you were seen.

You looked at the ground below, feeling your heart flutter at the thought of finally being free. With one step forward and another, you knew that it would be your last steps in the waking world.

Feeling the rush of wind blowing past you, you closed your eyes and smiled widely. You came to a conclusion that even if a place was called the City of Freedom, it could not free one's self from the void that chased behind them all their life. The City of Freedom could not protect people from their own darkness.

It was selfish of you. You had made someone love you and gave all their love to you, but you took it for granted.

Now, you had to watch the blonde work diligently during the day with obvious fatigue and cry during night, sometimes crying at your gravestone that was placed on top of the cliff. And you couldn't do a single thing-- not even able to comfort her.

Even knowing this, you put your ghostly hands on her shoulders and leaned to kiss her head.

"Sleep well, my love."

║Diluc║Found You 2

A continuation requested by someone on Wattpad.

Be warned: This could absolutely be a sh**y post.

Word count: 2.7k

---

All felt like a dream when he had taken you away from your home. It was a slip through the day like wind passing through a blocked off cave of old. So now, you were going back home-- your true home, Mondstadt, and in Dawn Winery.

"Do you need anything? Snacks, clothes, collection items-- anything?" Diluc asks, sitting beside you on the sofa as wood in the fireplace crackle under the fire that lit up part of the room. "I'm okay," you answered, smiling.

Diluc, ever since you've returned, has stayed at a good distance from you so that you would never disappear from him again. He knew that when he took you from Fontaine, it was kind of abrupt and that your father would be out to get you, most likely knowing where you are hiding. So, for the time being, you two were staying at a luxurious inn within Liyue.

It was close to Mondstadt which does sound like a horrible place to stay, being that since it is the neighbouring nation, your father would send people to Liyue. However, that is why you two stayed there. If your father does send people to Mondstadt and did not find you there, he most likely will not assume that you are in Liyue since he would think that it is a foolish idea.

"Let's just stay like this for a while," you said, leaning on his shoulder and closing your eyes.

Your thoughts wandered. If your father does find you, there was no way in Teyvat will you let him drag you back to that gloom of a home, wanting to try and fight for yours and Diluc's happiness. You know that you can't hide forever and that this was simply a mean to by time-- to take a rest until you decide to face your father.

And so, why did you leave home? The word 'gloom' has most likely stood out.

You left home after your father became that of a tyrant in the house, when your mother had fallen out of love with him, and you couldn't stand his new persona-- always shouting and even starting to slap you at the littlest of mistakes that he used to brush off. He would even have someone monitor you and report everything to that man, giving you that feel of lost freedom.

That progressed to worse treatment when he started to see you not as his child but an object. Everytime he saw you, he remembers your mother and that would get him riled up.

When he knew that you ran away, he was furious. You are to bend to his wishes as his child, no? That is what plagues his mind.

Originally, both parents were to have a split custody, but she lost even that half the authority, given how much money your father bribed to keep you as a way to make your mother regret.

"Hey, (Y/N)?" Diluc calls your name, gently putting a hand over yours. You dismissed your thoughts and hummed to his call. "What is it, Diluc?" you ask softly, eyes still closed, feeling have tired.

"I am sure you're thinking about your father, so this may sound that I am prying into your life.." At that, you understood as to what he was leading on, and you were kind of expecting it, seeing as you didn't tell him anything. "I don't want to pressure you into telling me so I'll wait until you want to.." he adds, rubbing his thumb on your hand.

"Mn.. Thank you," you said. It was a long journey to Mondstadt and with the many stops to avoid encountering any of your father's servants, it tired you out honestly.

-

It takes a couple months to travel from Fontaine to Mondstadt, but added a couple weeks hiding in Liyue. You didn't feel as if you were truly hiding though-- you and Diluc stroll around Liyue, completely out in the open, but there were many people so that you two won't stand out.

During that time, Diluc took you out to dinner and bought you anything that you wanted, even tossing in things that he thinks you might like and the stuff that you eyed for a little longer to not be considered as a glimpse.

"Diluc, there really is no need to buy me these," you hastily said, trying to reach the item in his hands which he switch to the other to make it further away from you. "It's fine. The money I earned from Dawn Winery and the tavern won't stop," he said, quickly paying it so it left you no room to dissuade him.

Life was like that for a while until a letter from the head butler of Dawn Winery sent an emergency letter through Diluc's bird, saying that there were two people loitering around Dawn Winery who look like they were from Fontaine, seeing their unique clothing.

The letter wrote that they have been watching the winery and not leaving when forced to.

"I don't think it's time to go back just yet. We'll just tire them out," Diluc said, referring to the Fontainians, as he scans through the letter.

The next day, was that of any other day, but what you didn't expect was to see your father in Liyue.

Seeing as his head was turned to somewhere else- most likely searching for you as he passes by Liyue- you took it as a chance to drag Diluc into one of the stores, hiding behind one of the shelves inside.

"(Y/N)?" He calls, but then looks at where you were staring at and knew what was happening. "You saw your father, didn't you?" he asks and you nod.

You guessed that he couldn't wait for a couple more months to hunt down for you and that is why he is personally finding you, finally standing up from his stupid chair in his office.

"He's most likely going to Dawn Winery.." Diluc states, narrowing his eyes at the people outside.

You were off in your thoughts, dwelling on decisions to be made hastily. Have you been prolonging the search that long now? As much as you didn't want to face that man, you had to someday because there really aren't much places to hide in Teyvat-- aside from the land of sinners, Khaenri'ah.

You look out the window, now seeing your father gone from the spot he once stood. Sighing, you and Diluc walked out of the store, but didn't dare put your guards down as you made your way back to the inn. Just because he wasn't in your sights doesn't mean he has fully left Liyue.

His eyes were that of a hawk and there is no way he wouldn't see you even amongst the wave of people, and he has other eyes just in case he does miss you.

You two only relaxed once back in the safe zone, deciding to not stroll around for a couple of days and only letting Diluc run errands since he most likely wasn't one to be recognized to be with you.

During those days, there have been a brief exchange of letters through Diluc's bird. The letters also included one from the Knights of Favonius' Cavalry Captain, Kaeya, saying that a nobleman from some place off was being a hassle in the city. And with the level of intellect that the knight holds, he deducted that it had something to do with Diluc's absences at the tavern.

Then, one night, when you and Diluc were sitting comfortably on a sofa, you spoke, "Diluc, I think we should go back." You intertwined your hands with his, feeling warm throughout your body.

You gulped back fear of your father and decided to face him. There was no way will you ever let yourself be dragged back to that house of his.

And so, the travel to Mondstadt took no less than a day and was soon facing Dawn Winery-- the only place you called home.

"Master Diluc, welcome back," the head maid, Adelinde, greet. Diluc's eyes darted to the maid and immediately asked for a report about what happened in Mondstadt while he was gone.

"The Knights of Favonius has been trying to please a group of foreigners for the past days," Adelinde answers. "A particular man was searching for a person named (Y/N) and has been causing trouble for the knights."

Diluc's eyes befell on you, getting your attention on him. Then, "Where is this man right now, Miss Adelinde?" you ask straightly, facing the maid.

"Ah, they are still within Mondstadt's walls," she answers.

With that, you look towards Diluc and gave a firm nod to reassure the male of your decision. You knew of Diluc's worries and fears from the past days spent together. He was afraid that you would leave again, but just didn't quite express it.

Seeing your determined look, he nods and the two of you walked to Mondstadt, soon being greeted by the Cavalry Captain. "Master Diluc, why the frown? Here I thought you had a wondrous time being away from your work for so long," Kaeya states, still able to pull a sly smile. "You know.. The knights were having quite the time as well, trying to--"

"Sir Kaeya, could you speed this up and tell me where that nobleman is right now?" Diluc cuts off, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the captain.

"Oh, so you're well-informed even when you are gone," Kaeya says. "I'm sure one of your servants filled you in about that nobleman already, so if you are looking for him, he's at the headquarters talking to the Acting Grandmaster, saying that if we ever found their child, we should send him a letter." With that, Kaeya's eyes narrowed on you, knowing full well of who you were. After all, you, too, were a foreigner to Mondstadt well before-- he just had to connect a simple series of dots.

You, however, remained silent and paid no mind to the male. "Alright, we'll be off," Diluc says, holding your hand and walking off towards the headquarters.

Just as you two set foot on the final set of stairs, you see an all too familiar man stepping out from the headquarters. However, you weren't jolted with fear anymore, gripping onto Diluc's hands tightly.

It didn't take long for your father's eyes to meet yours, a hint of anger on his face. But since you were with another person, he had to calm down as to not have a bad impression. He was still a businessman after all and seeing how well-dressed Diluc was, he knew he was someone of the same level as he was.

"(Y/N), is that you?" he played off, asking with a forced smile on his face that would make one want to punch him.

"Drop the act, I know why you're here," Diluc steps in, eyes cold for a man who wields pyro. Hearing this, your father frowns and cursed you in his head.

"Alright, since you know why I'm here, why don't you hand me my child back?" the man said.

"I'm afraid I won't let you, sir," Diluc said, which just upset the old man further. "I don't think you have the right to say this. I am their father and as their father, I have the right to take them home," your father said.

"They may be your child, but they are at the matured age to decide what they want to do with themselves. I believe that you have no power to control them anymore," Diluc asserted firmly.

"Who do you think you are!?" your father suddenly booms, anger masking his face read. "Don't you know who I am!?"

"No, I do not. But let me ask you this, do you know who I am?" Diluc asks. Your father huffs. "Why do you matter?" he shots a question back.

"I am well aware of your status in Fontaine, but none of that matters to me," Diluc said. "I'm sure you suspected as much, but I hold the most power in Mondstadt just as you hold in Fontaine."

"But you are in Mondstadt and have no backing whatsoever, making you at the bottom," he continues. "Under me, you can't take them away from here."

Your father clench his teeth at the words thrown at him. He was suppose to have control over you, right? Again, this is what's plaguing his mind, but what can he do? It was true that he was nothing but a foreigner. However, he was still planning on getting you back home so with that said, he lunges at you, ordering the people who serves him to catch you.

Diluc put an arm in front of you. He was ready to use his pyro vision, but was still wavering to use it against another human being.

Luckily for him, instead of having your father be burnt to death, ice blocked you two from your father. "Oh~ who knew that you were this man's child," Kaeya steps in, pretending to not know anything even though you were already aware. "And, Master Diluc, you must know you can't harm others with our visions. It will make a bad impression of our nation."

"Kaeya.. What are you doing here?" Diluc grumbles. "Oh, you know, just thought that the Acting Grandmaster might need me soon~" he openly tells a lie, then turning towards your father. "I'm sorry, sir. I'm sure your hands are numbing due to being locked in ice, hm?"

"Remove my hands from these!" your father shouts. "Ah, but only when I'm sure you won't harm another person. I'm a knight and as a knight, I have to protect others." Kaeya shrugs, looking quite smug with himself, earning your father to growl.

But still knowing he was furious, Kaeya released him from the ice. "I'm sorry to intrude in your family business, but I might have overheard the conversation," Kaeya said, looking from you to the vieux riche.

"What do you want? I don't think you were ever part of this business," you father spat at Kaeya. However, he remained calm-- clearly unfazed by such small talk. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't think you have the right to take our citizens forcefully," Kaeya said.

"Citizens? They're not even from here!" he shouts angrily, showing a clenched fist at the captain. "Oh? They're not? Huh, now, I may be wrong- which I highly doubt- but I am sure they are Master Diluc's lover, yes? So to say, lovers should be in one place," Kaeya said, closing his visible eye and holds a pointing finger as he speaks.

You notice your father about to lunge at Kaeya, but before he could do that, Kaeya's eyelids open and revealed a cold gaze. "Sir, you have been quite the handful lately. I think you best be off to the safety of your nation. We Mondstadtians won't just idle by and watch, you know?" Kaeya said, his gaze making your father seem small.

With one more mean look, your father fled from Mondstadt altogether in fear of being locked in prison in Mondstadt, never to return in search of you.

"I could have handled that, you know?" Diluc states, eyes boring through Kaeya like a knife. "I know, but I wanted to step in, in fear of you burning that man alive~" Kaeya shrugs. "Well then, I'll be off now~" Kaeya turns around and walks away, hand up in the air as a mean of a wave.

Silence soon fell-- a comfortable silence, of course. You felt relieved and your heart felt lighter at the fact that your father was never going to show up in front of you again. You would have picked a fight, but Kaeya stepped in. Nevertheless, you were grateful since you might've been the one to kill your own father.

"Then, shall we be off?" Diluc spoke, hands intertwining with yours. You look away from the direction Kaeya walked off to and smiled at Diluc, nodding. "I want some rest," you said, earning Diluc to smile.

"Sure. Let's go home."

"Hey, Chongyun, do like doing whatever you're doing?" you ask, balancing the flat side of a pencil on your upper lip. He tears his eyes away from a book he was invested in, focusing his attention to you

"Exorcism, I mean."

"Of course," he plainly answers without hesitation, a bit confused as to why you suddenly brought it up. You look at him skeptically from the side of your eyes before placing the pencil down on the table. "Are you sure you aren't saying that because your family is consisted of exorcist?" you say, "I mean, if my line of family were full of exorcist, I might feel a bit burdened and pressured.. Feeling as if I have no other choice but to carry out the family name.."

He takes your thoughts into consideration, agreeing that it does sound reasonable. "I understand what you are saying, but believe me, being an exorcist is what I love doing," he reassures, and you, not wanting to push the topic further, let it go at that, enjoying another comfortable silence under the setting sun the shone through the windows of the living room.

Chongyun has been visiting you frequently for the past week that him being there wasn't a bother to you now. Well, it didn't bother you at all, it was just that your heart couldn't handle itself whenever he was around; you shyly admit that you have a small crush on the exorcist.

"Oh, right, I--" Just as you were speaking, the front door burst open, causing you and Chongyun to be startled and look over the sofa, seeing another bluenette stepping inside. "Xingqiu, you can't just barge into someone's house like that!" you shout, fuming with a slight anger. "And you'll break the door!"

Xingqiu stood there, looking a bit clueless as if he totally forgot why he came to your house. "Hey, Xingqiu, what are you doing here?" Chongyun ask, setting down the book to the space beside him and stood up, facing the other male. "Chongyun, so you're here again, huh?" Xingqiu asks, not even bothering to greet either the two of you. His eyes started to wander around the place, looking quite worried and something else that you couldn't quite place your fingers on.

"Not going to greet us politely, huh?" you commented with a bored expression. Chongyun stares at you then back to Xingqiu. "Hey, wanna take this outside?" he asks, snapping Xingqui out from his daze. "Oh, right, is.." Xingqiu trails, not wanting to say anything further, eyes hiding something deep within their colours that was covered with great anxiousness.

Chongyun nods silently. "Yeah, it's okay," he says and then turns to you. "Ill be right back, (Y/N)." You nodded quietly, a bit concerned for the bookworm as he looks your way, yet not say anything. He looked out of it and you planned to ask Chongyun once he comes back.

The two males went outside, closing the door behind as they leave. You strain your ears to eavesdrop on their conversation, but the door muffled out clear words, so you gave up, slouching into the seat.

It took no more than 10 minutes for them to chat outside before Xingqiu leaves the premises and Chongyun returning back inside. However, Xingqiu looked somewhat panicked with eyes filled of worry and the other element that you couldn't quite pinpoint. "What were you guys talking about? Xingqiu looked a bit off," you say, eyes following the bluenette back to his spot beside you.

"It's nothing.. Xingqiu has just been having nightmares, is all," he hesitantly says, eyes not looking your way as he utters so. You were quite surprised. Xingqiu? Having nightmares? That was truly new and quite something to tease him about-- but that was something you won't do, since it was something concerning if he looked the way he did.

"Oh, it's getting late," Chongyun comments, looking out the window behind you. "Should I cook you something to eat before I leave?" You shook your head, "The snacks from earlier kind of spoiled my appetite for tonight. I'll see you tomorrow."

He nods and bid you a good night before exiting your house.

You stayed in the living room for a while then cleaned up any mess and locked the front door before going to your room and changing into your sleepwear.

Letting out a tired sigh, you sunk under the warmth of your comforters, burying your face into one of the pillows. No matter how tired you may be, your thoughts did it's usual thing- wandering around aimlessly and thinking whatever it wants to, which brought you to Chongyun.

It was something you think about each night and it never fails to make your heart squeal. You had been picking up unusual behaviours from him throughout the week such as accompanying you everywhere-- be it to your kitchen or outside the streets of Liyue. It kind of made you more confident about confessing to him.

Someday, you'll confess, you thought to yourself and drifted off to sleep, dreaming a happy dream of the potential future if he does happen to reciprocate your feelings.

When the sun shone through your curtains, Chongyun was already at your door, waiting for you to open the door. "Good morning, did you already have breakfast?" Chongyun greets. "Not yet," you answered and move out of the way to let him in.

"I'll go make something for you right now," Chongyun says, giving you one look before heading to the kitchen where you watch him make breakfast for the both of you. It was unnatural at first, but with the amount of persistence, you allowed Chongyun to make breakfast for you each day.

"Thank you for the meal," you say and took your chopsticks, taking a bite before complimenting his skills.

It was a quiet morning, both of you enjoying breakfast. Then, "Say, (Y/N), is there something you want to do before you die?" Chongyun suddenly asks. You look away from your bowl and look at him curiously, though his gaze was on his bowl. "That's out of the blue.." you comment, chuckling a bit.

He places his chopsticks down and closed his eyes, sighing. "Well, is there?" He looks up at you, revealing his cat-like eyes. At that, you knew he wasn't going to let you change topics, not that you have anything else to talk about, and that it was something that most people suddenly brings up suddenly. "Hm.. I don't think so. I mean, I'm really happy with my life right now and being by yours and Xingqiu's side," you say, taking the topic with much thought.

"You're lying," he affirms, catching you with surprised eyes. "What do you mean?" you ask, quite confused at how strongly he believes his words. "There is not one person who doesn't have at least one thing that they want to have or want to do before they die," he expresses.

You weren't sure why he was taking the topic so seriously. He asked you this multiple times before and back then, he just hums in response. But since he pushed the topic on, you have no other choice but to think it thoroughly.

You thought about things that you used to want to do, but they were sooner or later fulfilled. Then, your reoccurring fantasy popped into your head as stealthily as it could: Chongyun reciprocating your feelings. You guessed that it was the only thing left to do in this world-- maybe going on adventures with him as a couple.

Knowing this, your face flushes red-- the same colour when Chongyun accidentally ate something spicy to make him hot. "Hm? (Y/N)?" Chongyun stares at you quizically. "Well, did you figure it out?"

"Oh, ah, uhm.. I-- It's nothing!" you stutter, averting your eyes from him and chuckling awkwardly. Did he possibly know and that's why he was asking? You didn't know. "Can you tell--" You caught him off. "Ah, why are you being so pushy today, hm? Do you want me to say something specific?" you ask. Seeing your sudden burst, Chongyun decided to leave it at that, returning the atmosphere to the comfortable silence to help you relax and forget about what he asked.

"Hey, Chongyun, you haven't been doing any exorcism at all these past few days-- what's up with that?" you brought up, now located in the living room where both of you spend most of the day away doing whatever pops inside your head. "Ah, I just have much free time, is all," he answers, sounding as if he predicted you'd question him about it sooner or later.

"Really? Well, I heard that there was a ghost that's been haunting an old lady's place and many other series of hauntings.." Upon hearing your own words, you gasped. "Wait, could Xingqui's nightmare be linked to this?" You turn your upper body to face the male.

"Oh, uh, I guess..?" Chongyun says and shrugs, not knowing what else to say. You crossed your arms, mentally patting yourself. It was silence after that, doing your own thing as Chongyun does his.

"Hey, you wanna go somewhere?" Chongyun asks, getting your attention. "Sure? Where do you want to go?" You look at him, eyes following up as he stands up. "You'll find out," is all he said and you had no other choice but to follow.

Out on the streets, you both bumped into Xingqui, who looked quite sleep deprived, looking down at the grown below him. "Hey, have you been crying?" was the first thing you say, seeing redness around his eyes. You went to put a hand on his arm, but he flinched when you did so.

He looks up. "Oh, hey.." he greets tiredly. "Xingqiu, are you okay?" Chongyun ask, visibly concerned for his best friend.

Xingqiu was quiet for a while, looking hesitant to speak. "Chongyun, when will you finally do it? I can't stand this any longer and knowing that you're always going there is driving me insane!" He harshly grabs Chongyun shoulders.

"Calm down, Xingqiu." You put a hand on his shoulders, feeling him stiffen for a quick second before letting go of Chongyun. Xingqiu did not act the way he used to be and it worried both you and Chongyun.

The hydro male took a breather, both of you allowing him to do so. Then, "When will you let go?" he whispers, his tone breaking.

Your heart tightened. You did not know what was happening with Xingqiu, but it hurt you seeing him looking like a mess. He wasn't his usual self.

You looked over to the icy male, eyes filled with worried. He looks at you, eyes also filled with the same emotion, yet hiding something else within it.

Sighing, Chongyun spoke, "Come with me, Xingqiu, and you too, (Y/N)." You nodded, and followed, looking over to Xingqiu every now and then whose head was down, hiding the emotions swirling in his eyes.

Soon, the three of you returned to your house. You were confused, but didn't say anything and letting Chongyun speak. "(Y/N), you like me, don't you?" Chongyun suddenly ask, back facing you as his front faces your house.

The air in you felt as if it was punched out. "How did you.." You couldn't finish it. How did he figure it out? Did Xingqiu tell him? You did tell Xingqiu your feelings for the exorcist, but to think he betrayed you? You turn to the traitor. "Xingqiu--" You were cut off. "It's useless, (Y/N).." Chongyun gave a heavy sigh.

"He can't hear you."

You were confused. What did he mean? "(Y/N), I am going to guess the one thing you want before you die.." Chongyun says. "You like me and want to confess your feelings, right? It'll feel much heavy if you don't." He didn't directly answer your question, but he was getting there.

"Yesterday, Xingqiu told me about it and I guess that is the one thing you want to do or else you can't rest."

"(Y/N), do you know why I kept visiting you?" Chongyun asks. You, however, couldn't give a reply, too confused to see where he was getting at. "I was trying to exorcise you."

"What do you mean by that, Chongyun? I don't understand," you say. First, Xingqiu can't hear you and second, he is trying to exercise you? It was confusing and it would be understandable.. For other restless spirits.

Chongyun turns his body to face you, however, his head was the same a Xingqiu's; head facing down. "(Y/N), you're dead."

Your heart dropped to the pit of your stomach upon hearing it. It sounded absolutely absurd and you didn't believe it.

Quickly, you turn to Xingqiu and grabbed him by his shoulders, tears threatening to fall. However, when you made contact with him, he flinches. "Hey, Xingqiu, don't play with me right now!" you raise your voice that would be loud to annoy him to break this little prank, but he just stares at you-- or rather, looking your way with a sadded expression but not really at you.

".. Hey, Chongyun, they're in front of me, aren't they?" Xingqiu ask, cracking a sad smile as tears start to trickle his face. Chongyun nods silently.

Knowing this, Xingqiu continues. "(Y/N), I can't hear you or see you.. But let me apologise.. I'm sorry.. It's my fault that you.. Died," he says. "If we hadn't gone to that cliff after it rained, I would still be able to talk with you."

It took a while to understand and recall what he was saying, but the locked memory- the last puzzle to understanding everything- returned to you. That day, you had slipped and fallen, and because at how sudden it was, you panicked and was unable to spread your glider, leading to your death.

Xingqiu has been recuperating from the horror and guilt, having nightmares of the scene he had witnessed that day.

Chongyun was the one to find your spirit bounded to your house and the streets of Liyue being an exorcist and all, so he took it upon himself to make sure you rest in peace. However, since you weren't aware you were dead, it made it difficult for him to make that happen. So, he hung around you, sneakily exercising you when you two hung out in your house.

Tears fall down on the side of your face, now having memory of it, and turned to Chongyun who looked at you with sadness.

Sadness. That was the one emotion you couldn't figure out.

"I.. I'm really sorry, (Y/N)," Chongyun spoke softly, looking at you. "I don't want you to go, but as an exorcist.. And to relieve Xingqui's nightmares.. I, I have no other choice."

"But before you go, I want you to know that I've always liked you.. I was.. Hoping to tell you how I felt, but I guess I can't now," voice breaking as he confesses.

"No.. I, I don't want to go!" you shout and clung onto his shoulders. "I'm not going, I'm not going!" More tears fell faster than it did before as you pleaded to stay.

He places his hands on your shoulders, tears of his own trickling down his face. "Please, wait for me in the next life," he says.

The reason why Chongyun excels than that of other exorcist was because of his energy, and that was something you knew. And so, a stubborn and tireless spirit such as yourself was nothing for him once he got you to awaken and face what was to be your eternal rest.

"Sweet dreams."

║Amber║Gliding Accident

Fluff.

Word count: 1.1k

---

Amber was, no doubt, the best at gliding and deserved the title of "Mondstat's Gliding Champion". You were exceptionally skilled as well, but you would praise the girl more than boast about yourself.

"I have to have a license?" you ask the brown-haired female in front of you. She nods. "Yes, even though you are very good at gliding, we do have to have a gliding license if we want to freely glide," she says. "Ah, so is there any way to get the license?" you ask.

The brunette nods her head. "Let's meet up in Windrise in about an hour since I still have another task to finish. I'll be your instructor," she says. You nod and so, in about an hour, you met up with the Outrider at the specified location.

"Woo, the wind is great today!" Amber exclaims, a knuckle resting on her hip. "Alright, are you ready?" She turns to you. You nodded confidently. "You'll do just fine, I believe in you," she says. "I'll he waiting at the bottom, okay? Meet you there!" The female waves before gliding down to the meeting point.

You took a deep breath in. Doing the test felt more pressuring and scary than you had thought and would prefer to fight the dragon.

Once calm, you jumped off of the cliff and spread the glider open. The glide was smooth and you mentally grin to yourself at how wel you were doing. However, unbeknownst to you, there was a tear in your glider.

When you got close to Amber, that is when the tear widens and throws you off balance. Amber gasps, seeing the ripped glider and reached her arms to catch you. "Gah, (Y/N)!" You closed your eyes as you fall unsteadily down. Luckily, she did catch you and tumbled down with a thud. "Nngh.. Hey, are you okay?" she asks, underneath you.

Opening your eyes, you were faced with her chest. With a gasp, you hover above her, a light dust of pink masking your cheeks. There was also one on hers. The two of you stare at each other, the gentle wind rustling the grass was the only sound that was making.

The atmosphere became too unbearable for you and noticed that you had been staring too long. "Oh, uhm.. S, sorry." You push away from her, standing up. "It's alright.. " she whispers-- a bit unlike her.

You extended an arm and she shyly took it, standing up herself. There was yet another awkward silence, both of you averting your gaze from the other, yet kept hold of each other.

"Oh, ah, we should call this off for another time.." she says, her face growing a darker shade of red. "Ah, okay.." There was silence for a few more seconds before she removes her hand and bid you bye for the day. "Well, that was awkward," Paimon says beside you, almost cheekily.

It was almost a week since you guys last chatted-- almost a week since that awkward scene that never stopped replaying in your head. You two had crossed on multiple occasions, but Amber was always the first to look away, making you think that she disliked you and wanted to show the space between you two.

The way she avoided you made you upset and so, when she was walking past you one day, you pulled her to the side to talk. "What do you need, (Y/N)?" she asks, although she wasn't looking straight at you. "Why are you avoiding me?" you ask. "I, I am not avoiding you.. Just busy, is all," she says, fiddling with her hands.

"Yes, you are. You aren't even staring at me," you say. Even when saying so, Amber did not look at you. Sighing, you say, "Amber, please, look at me. It hurts me seeing that you are openly avoiding me." You look down.

Hearing this, the girl finally looks to you. "Listen.. I, I like you," you confess. "And you avoiding me is not something I like." The girl's heart fluttered and raced. She became shy. "Well, I, I don't like you!" she stutters, face flushing red. Your heart felt like it was being squeezed as you watch her run away hurriedly. "Fufu, you got rejected!" Paimon comments.

You remained silent, deep in your own thoughts. She truly was trying to make that gap obvious, wasn't she? You kind of regret telling her how you felt, but it really did make you upset that she was avoiding you.

"But it's not over yet," you mumbled. Paimon looks at you quizically. You look towards Paimon and grin before walking off towards the opposite direction where the female left.

You decided to give her some space for a couple of days, having it to be your turn to avoid her by any means. You could tell that she was staring at you every time you past her, but paid no mind to it. That was how it went until one day where you pulled her once more to a place where no eyes could watch. Your floating companion wasn't there with you, giving her food to stay put wherever she may be.

"I-- (Y/N)?" Amber calls, being held between the wall and you. "I will tell you this again- I like you, Amber," you say, confidently this time. You could see it in her eyes that she was taken aback. "I, I.." She looks away before finishing her words. "I don't like you."

"Really? Then, why don't you look me in the eyes and say it?" you say, face showing seriousness. The confident and outgoing Outrider became shy underneath you. When a good amount of seconds of silence went by, you sighed and turned away from her, ready go walk away. Seeing this, she panicked and grabbed hold of your sleeves. "Ah, w, wait!" she stutters. You looked over your shoulder and see she was a reddened mess as she looks at the ground before her. "I, I, uh.."

You were honestly going to wait for her to say it, but the cute look on her face made it seem impossible, so you took this as her swallowing back what she said and kissed her.

Her eyes widened at the sudden kiss, but soon melt into it, allowing herself to be pushed against the wall. The kiss was soon broken and you stared lovingly into her eyes, a smirk on you face. "I knew you'd come around if I leave you."

"Be quiet!" she flares shyly, looking away. You smiled and kiss her cheek. "I like you, Amber," you repeat once again.

"I, I like you too.."

A Hybrid’s Instincts

oh? what's this? it seems like your pregnancy triggered something in these men. their more… "animal side", perhaps?

A Hybrid’s Instincts

ever since baizhu’s confirmation - actually, even weeks before that - zhongli has been very reluctant to let you wander out of the house. or even out of his sight, in general (which is quite strange since with his enhanced dragon senses you know he’s able to locate you within the house with no problems at all).

at night, you sometimes wake up to him in his dragon form. sometimes it’s his compact form nuzzling and he's purring near your stomach, sometimes it’s his half-dragon form where he’ll place his head beside your stomach with his tail curling around you protectively. it doesn’t matter whether you’re already showing or not; your heartbeat and the little hatchling’s brings him a sense of comfort that he needs, lest he becomes restless.

his nesting behavior is out of control. he’ll bring you all the pillows and blankets, surround you with the nicest smelling flowers, make you always wear his shirt, and he’ll bring anything you want to the bed so you don’t have to leave the nest. the further you are into your pregnancy, the more reluctant he is to leave you alone. he ends up taking that paternal leave hu tao has been telling him to get. bless her.

A Hybrid’s Instincts

gorou is just as excited as he’s alerted. kokomi will have to force her best general to take a temporary leave from the army throughout your pregnancy because he’s so jumpy and sensitive to literally everything and his behavior is making all of the soldiers anxious.

gorou insists that you take a walk with him every day; just something light around the block to keep you from feeling lethargic. he’s also developed a habit to sniff everything that will touch your hand. yes, that includes your supposedly harmless change of clothes. it’s not ridiculous in his opinion! it’s a necessary precaution!!

will snarl when a stranger approaches you and tries to touch you in any way, even if it’s just a friendly gesture. he would be so embarrassed and apologetic about it afterward, but only once you’re at the safe haven of your house.

A Hybrid’s Instincts

are you a forest ranger? an adventurer? does your profession require you to venture into the wilderness? welp, say goodbye to your job for the time being, because there is no way in any cycles of samsara tighnari would let you go into the dangers outside while you’re carrying his pups.

walking arm-in-arm whenever you're out and about is a must these days. whenever a villager congratulates you, you can sense his hold tightening despite the polite smile on his lips. if it was up to his instinct, he wouldn’t have let you get out of the house, but rationally he knows you need to move around and breathe in the fresh air.

though you still won’t be exempt from your beloved’s sassiness (”you want me to get you coffee…? do you think i’m an idiot?”) as long as what you ask for doesn’t harm you, he’s at your every beck and calls now, no question asked. you’re craving for collei’s specialized pita pockets? he’ll learn the damn recipe from collei herself and serve it on your favorite plate the next day. you want to be carried everywhere? good thing he’s got the physique fitting for the head of the forest rangers. you want ten kisses a day? say no more; he’ll give you thirty.

A Hybrid’s Instincts

A Hybrid’s Instincts

at first, diona seems super indifferent about it, only reacting with a ‘hmph… congrats, i guess’, but her actions speak louder than words. you know how cats tend to hover around pregnant women and even lay themselves near their bulging bellies? that's right.

no, you will not be having alcohol. no, your spouse will not be having alcohol. no, all the people within five hundred meters radius from you will not be having any single drop of alcohol. she won't allow those boozehounds to get close to you.

she’s so amazed at how your stomach keeps growing bigger every time you visit her. when you give her your permission, she’ll curiously poke and stare at your bump. her hand will gently pat your tummy as she unconsciously smiles. she starts to seek you out more often after that, telling you that she’s just there in case you need help, but you know she’s just worried about you. she would be such a good big sister to your baby!

NOOOOO I'M TAKING HIM WITH ME I'M TAKING HIM WITH ME OR I'M STAYING

Aether and Lumine can drag their asses back to Tevyat if they wanna see their older sib again because I'm staying with Wanderer 😭 give that puppet a tiny kiss

(from this and this!) the fact you chose him out of your own siblings—him, the discarded puppet who was never enough. you could have chosen to stay for one of the archons, for the people and the gods you’ve helped. hell, even one of the multitude of friends you’ve made in your travels across teyvat, but the fact that you chose him? he doesn’t quite believe it, ears ringing and heart stuttering as he asks you if you could repeat what you said. and you smile indulgently, ever so soft, ever so sweet, ever so you that he can’t help himself from falling all over again when you say, “of course i’m not leaving, silly. i promised i’d stay, didn’t i?”

he stumbles, nearly trips on his own feet as he rushes to throw himself at you, burying his face in your shoulder as he cries in relief. and you hold him, unbothered by the wetness gathering in your clothes, strong arms secured around him—real, just like the fact that you’re staying with him. staying for him.

and oh, he realizes, welcoming the warmth in his chest, this is what it means to love someone.

can’t stop thinking about scara who wakes up from his slumber much much later than he did in canon. traveler!reader, who’s looking for their siblings, aether and lumine, stumbles upon innocent!scara during your time in inazuma and he just. follows you along like a lost puppy, practically imprinting on you at first sight as he decides, yes, this is the person i will be following for the rest of my life.

you teach him about this world, showing him little tricks using multiple elements and laughing when he gets all pouty after you tell him that wielding multiple elements isn’t possible for him. you like protecting him, even though he says he doesn’t need protection, but you never fail to remind him about that one time he cried after getting burnt by a pyro slime. he gets all red in the face and shy whenever you bring it up.

he does worry, on nights when you’re asleep and the only company he has is the stars, that you’ll leave him someday in your pursuit of finding your siblings. and it’s inevitable, perhaps, but he’d like to cling on to this small slice of happiness, pressing himself closer to you and ignoring your sleepy protest about how his toes are too cold.

you won’t leave him, he’ll make sure of it. he just has to convince you, is all.

i think we can all agree that kunikuzushi is the biggest tittie lover in existence that man loves boobs n i know it

So true though!! I believe that any men with mommy issues likes boobies <3333

[cw: afab reader, he licks reader's nip at the end, this is an au where the fatui stuff didn't happen and reader whisked him away from tatarasuna to narukami island and he healed through reader's guidance, implied smut at the end]

I Think We Can All Agree That Kunikuzushi Is The Biggest Tittie Lover In Existence That Man Loves Boobs

"Hehe, you look comfortable, Kuni."

If you listen closely, you could hear a sort of purring sound coming from the doll. His fair face displays a blissful expression, as if he'd forgotten any and all tribulations of this world, choosing to bury those trivial concerns away in favour of enjoying this moment. When this cute, innocent doll nuzzles his face in between your breasts, you don't even mind the hand that slides up from your waist to cup one of your mounds.

"That's because they are soft…like pillows."

Kunikuzushi seems proud of that realisation; as if he discovered something new and profound.

He looks up at you for approval, indigo irises picking up sparkles in the Inazuman sun. You caress his face, feeling a slight warmth in his blush-tinted cheeks.

"Do you feel embarrassed to touch me like this?"

The puppet shifts, avoiding your gaze. "A little. This feels…intimate."

You chuckle. "Oh but Kuni, we've done plenty of other intimate things."

"I know that but," he hesitates. "I don't want to make you uncomfortable."

"No, not at all! In fact, it makes me happy that you like my breasts so much!"

Kunikuzushi relaxes and returns to his rightful place: his face flush against your boobs. He rubs against you like a cat marking its territory and it's then when something snaps inside you.

"I'm going to do something a bit rough, okay?"

Kunikuzushi tilts his head but before he could ask, your hands gently grab at his scalp before you completely smothered him with your boobs.

"Mmf?!"

Kunikuzushi panics for a moment before he realises that he doesn't need to breathe and wraps his arms around your waist to pull himself closer. Your scent, your warmth, your softness feels so overwhelmingly good that he can't help but go red. And your praises and coos as you pat his head doesn't help. The doll goes slack and you immediately let go of him.

"Kuni?! Kuni, are you okay? I'm so sorry! I thought that–"

The puppet pushes you to the ground, cutting off your worried rambling. He leans down, tongue darting out to lick your clothed nipple.

"(Name), can I feel you more?"

loyalty to the raging tempest

CW: This contains spoilers from the new archon quest. Read at your own discretion.

Loyalty To The Raging Tempest

"You can start a new life here if you want to."

The God of Wisdom's words echo in your mind as you watch your Lord's unmoving figure on the hospital bed. You saw his fall, from the proud and cruel harbinger to a lifeless puppet who had its heart taken away. With Scaramouche's defeat and the Fatui branding you a traitor for refusing to return with the Doctor, you had nowhere else to go… until the Dendro Archon offered you sanctuary in her region.

"Gravedigger… You will regret this." The Doctor spits with the promise of your death.

"I'm sure the matra would be willing to take you in. Creating a final resting place for the dead is also necessary." In contrast, the Dendro Archon's kindness promised protection.

She was right. Under her watchful gaze, no one will be able to lay a hand on you in Sumeru. You can leave everything behind; even the pitiful puppet in front of you. Truthfully, Scaramouche was an awful person. No one in the Fatui liked him and your colleagues would often give you pitying looks once you got summoned to his side. You've lost count of how many times you were punished for not following his orders perfectly.

But still, for some reason, you can't leave him alone. Perhaps it's because of the way he looked at you when you first met. The look of recognition, fury, and something else. You remember him looming over you, staring at your dirt-covered body - the result of digging tirelessly in the cold mornings of Snezhnaya, all in an effort to create a tomb for a soldier you hardly know. Once you lock eyes, you see a raging tempest and you wonder what he's seeing when he looks at you.

"Pitiful. What's with that look in your eyes? Are you merely a doll who knows nothing more than to roll around in the dirt? Perhaps I should call you a rat."

You nod, but that seemed to make him angrier. As insulting as his words are, you really don't know anything else. In a distant memory, you see the blurry faces of your mother and father, hear their whispers of your duties and how it is important to create a final resting place, you remember the old shovel they handed you before you dug your first grave and the sight of their backs as they left for a mission and never returned.

You feel his attack before you see it. Your vision glows and you parry the blade of electro he sends towards you. You get thrown back, and you feel the air get knocked out of your lungs as you slam into a tree.

"...Good. It seems you're not entirely hopeless."

You stand up on shaky legs, tensing as he steps closer and closer. He scoffs as you raise your weapon defensively. He probably thought fighting you was mere child's play.

"Work under me. I'm sure I can find some use for a little rat like you."

And he did find some use for you. Before you knew it, you became his right hand… or maybe "errand runner" was a better description for your job. "The Balladeer's Servant", others would whisper behind your back as they see you tailing the Harbinger's figure. You were at his beck and call and usually the one that bears the brunt of his anger (or as you like to call it in your head - his temper tantrums.) It was exhausting work; trying to keep up with his demands.

But sometimes, you would see the eye of the storm. He was calm in those times, his voice losing the sharp edge it always seemed to have - like a storm temporarily diminishing into a gentle, soothing rain.

"What are you looking at? …The cherry trees?"

He hums, tipping his hat up as he stares at the lush pink trees, not minding the rain of petals falling on him due to the strong gust of wind. You think that he looks very beautiful.

"I don't need anything. Just stay there and don't make a sound."

You watch him collapse in pain after enduring the Doctor's experiments. Regardless of his protests, you help him get settled on his bed. You silently question why he doesn't see himself as a human. After all, he feels pain and suffering, just like everyone else.

Your current situation reminded you of those quiet nights with only the candle light to keep you company. But instead of seeing your Lord's eyes open the next day, he's been asleep for more than two months. Just as you think he's never going to wake up, he stirs from his slumber one morning, jolting you awake.

"...My Lord?" You call, making his pretty eyes focus on you.

"You're still here?" He mutters in disbelief, like he expected you to be gone from his side.

"Why wouldn't I be? I pledged loyalty to you, didn't I?"

Your honest words stun him into silence. He narrows his eyes, looking for a lie, a hint of deception and desire for personal gain.

He finds none. Just an honest fool that he picked up from the dirt littered with flowers and concrete.

"Idiot."

"Do you… do you remember him?"

A floating fairy that carried the scent of stars asked you as she gestured to the man in blue. Four pairs of eyes stare at you in anticipation as you gaze at the man with a frown. He crosses his arms as he waits for your answer. You weren't expecting this strange turn of events at all. Your life was finally becoming peaceful under the kindness of the Dendro Archon. She gave you a home and a place to work. You needed nothing more. And yet, you feel like things are about to go upside down again with the presence of this strange man.

"I'm sorry. I don't know him." You said. Their gazes turn uneasy and the man in blue's neutral expression breaks for a moment.

"...But I feel like I should." You added, stepping forward to get a closer look. Not expecting the close proximity, he flinches and moves back, as if electrocuted.

"How dare-!"

"What's your name?" You ask, not paying attention to the spark of anger and embarrassment that appeared in his eyes.

"...Give me one." He says with a sigh.

"Pardon?" Did this familiar stranger really ask you to name him?

"How fascinating…" The Dendro Archon mumbles, placing a hand on her chin as she regards you with curious eyes. "Their memories were definitely erased… but somehow, the connection you formed with them was so strong that it resisted the data deletion process. There is a saying that the heart and mind are two separate things. In this case, the mind may have forgotten, but the feeling is still there. It seems you've garnered someone's loyalty regardless of your lack of divinity."

"...I suppose that's enough." The man in blue looks away, tipping his hat over his eyes.

"Well? Have you thought of a name yet?" He addresses you and you find yourself at the center of attention once again. They were actually serious about naming him…

"How about…"

The man in blue closes his eyes. You think you see the corner of his lips twitch upwards into a small smile.

tbh kuni being a tittie lover is so true and i stand by that

“Do you not understand that you have ascended in the top stratum of mortals with my offer?” The emphasis tacked on his words was hard to miss, along with the clear frustration etched across his face that seemed to deepen together with your incredulity.

“Do you know what I think? I think you need to sleep.” You tugged and spread the blanket over your legs, inching just close enough to the bonfire to keep you warm throughout the night.

In disapproval or disbelief, he groaned loudly and treaded heavily in front of you. “And how do I sleep?” He sneered on your face. “How do I sleep in this condition? Pray tell.”

You closed your eyes, humming to the tune of the sleep beckoning you closer. “Well, first and foremost, you need to shut your mouth and lay down.”

“Mortals surely are the daftest creatures that have graced Teyvat. They cannot realize a blessing when they see one. How absurd,” he droned on. His mumbling and murmuring went on for minutes, deliberately causing disturbance to a rather pleasant night under the clear starry sky.

Your nose flared in impatience that you bolted upright, grateful that the blanket did not fly to the nearest fire, before facing him. “And how is refusing you to touch my breast considered daft?”

Immediately up for the challenge, he crossed his arms over his chest and stared you down. “Ha! You do not understand the weight of your words, do you? You should’ve considered yourself fortunate.”

“I have allowed you ten nights to touch my breasts while you sleep because you said it was cold. And despite seeing no correlation between the weather and your hand on my chest, I have let you in your freedom.” You were face to face with him. None of you seemed aware of the mere inch that’s separating your faces. “Tell me, what makes you so addicted to it?”

“They are soft! And supple! And I like how they feel on my hand!” He was out of breath when he finished.

So were you, with the force of his confession. It was you who broke the eye contact first by stomping back to your place.

“You can say I have grown accustomed to them,” he continued. “Perhaps one day I shall see them for myself—”

“Stop talking,” you deadpanned before breathing deeply. At last, you looked at his direction. “C… come here.”

Against the fire, you would’ve thought that his eyes brightened up a fraction. But you knew better than anyone else how he liked to keep his emotions at bay no matter the circumstances.

“You can touch them,” you murmured. “But I have rules.”

“Madness!” he was quick to retort. “You dare make rules?”

“Alright, then, good night.” You pulled the blankets over you again and prepared to lie down.

He sighed, long and ingested with patience. “Alright, alright. I will hear them: your rules.”

You raised one finger. “One, you should not speak anymore. Two, you shall not squeeze—” He gave you a stupefied look. “I’m serious. I cannot sleep when you do that. And those are my rules. How about that?”

“Shall not squeeze? You are merciless. Even I wouldn’t have thought of such cruelty.”

“Stop the nonsensical drama and lie down. Now. We have a long way ahead of us tomorrow and we shall get all the rest we can.” You tapped the space beside you, firm and solid on your words.

Surprisingly, he did not raise any more objections about the set-up. He positioned himself beside you, his hand crawling inside your shirt and finding the treasure there. Like a warm kerchief, his dainty hand cup your breast. It was only a matter of time after that before you heard him softly snoring. Again, for the 11th day, it would seem as though you were to sleep with burning cheeks and swirling stomach.

as was foreseeable, you were more bitter than a radish over your lover’s affairs in sumeru; with the pesky follower he met in the midst of his search for godhood being the victim of your ire. she should be grateful for your show of mercy to spare her life, or else you would’ve jumped on the chance in a heartbeat.

it could’ve ended well if he didn’t dangle the idiot leech of a researcher’s devotion over your head, using it to his heart’s content to keep you obedient. “haypasia would not dare to behave so insolently,” and “haypasia would’ve done what i asked without question.”

haypasia this, haypasia that.

I Think U Were Sent By The Heavens BECAUSE THE HICKEYS/NECK KISSES ONE WAS TOP TIER?? (mwah 😩👌)

kazuha

he thinks neck kisses are sweet, romantic, intimate; all three being things he enjoys. and it also leaves him a little heated, itching with desire

the moment your mouth is over his throat he’s letting out an airy giggle, finding your lips ticklish. he always eagerly tilts his chin up, offering his neck over like it’s nothing, even though it truly isn’t; it’s a very vulnerable place, but perhaps that is why he gives it so easily

but it isn’t long before he gets a little noisy, breathy sighs turning into soft “ah”s, shivering with every wet noise, shaking with every suck

he sometimes bites his lip, but his entire face will always flush a rosy red

and this is certainly one way to get him riled up, but he isn’t really much of a pillow princess unless you order him to be

the moment you start displaying actions like this, he’s seeking you out, too, eager for more, wanting to touch

he’ll brush hair behind your face, cradle your head as you sink your teeth and he gasps, or whine as you press a leg between his thighs

but the best part is when he can find an opening to do the same, bringing one of your arms to his mouth, kissing sensually at your wrist, turning the tables until it’s your throat against his lips

he loves, loves, loves being marked, and is not embarrassed about them

he will be a little shy and blush, but he’s not ashamed of them at all. if anything, he looks a little pleased someone noticed, given he’s pretty proud of you and your relationship with him

scaramouche

the thing about scaramouche + neck kisses is that usually it = biting

and he’s the one biting you most of the time, if you allow it

don’t get it all wrong; it can just as easily be affectionate as it can be erotic. he has a habit of nipping idly at your fingertips and then sucking them, staring up at you through strands of soft hair and pretty lashes, eyes sometimes set into a piercing glare

it’s almost like a ‘stimming’ action: he wants to sink his teeth into your shoulder just to feel it, or to bite up the length of your throat just to fixate on the suction of your skin in his mouth or the marks that he can taste along his tongue; memorizing how it feels, almost desperate

neck kisses on their own, towards him, though: well, he wants to be bitten back

you have to be rough with him. this isn’t some pretty little fairytale where you can make him melt with just an affectionate peck to the throat. no, no. it has to be sensual. you have to work for it.

if you want to leave him gasping and shuddering into you, grasping for you with his fingernails, leaving scratches along your arms, then you have to kiss and suck and bite like he’s your last meal, like you’re trying to seduce him, or else all you’re getting is a blank face and a shrug; he doesn’t respond otherwise

he’s not the type that just will get kissed and then, boom, you have him melting over your lap.

it needs a little more: he needs the depth of the interaction, he needs teeth and he needs tongue, he needs you to suck his skin like you mean it, like you’re trying to eat him alive, in a way that is nearly romantic, and painfully intimate, but in a way that hurts (which is what he wants)

talk dirty to him, rough by his ear, and it adds onto it

mouth at his collarbone with the intensity of someone eating him out, and he’s shaking; dig into his throat, and he’s rocking his hips into yours with a grunted growl between his teeth

and if you’re not leaving hickeys, what’s the point? he wants you to go all in or don’t go for it at all

no one really notices when he has any, since he wears sleeveless turtlenecks, which covers the general hotspots; if anyone did notice, though, he gets unexpectedly angry and grumpy and embarrassed, all at once

I Think U Were Sent By The Heavens BECAUSE THE HICKEYS/NECK KISSES ONE WAS TOP TIER?? (mwah 😩👌)

xiao

he definitely enjoys it, especially when your mouth catches right underneath his jaw, where he really likes it

the throat is a very vulnerable place, and that already makes it pretty intense, but couple that with the fact xiao requires a lot of trust and love to be able to let someone this close makes it a thousand times more overwhelming

he flushes up and becomes a shuddering, grinding mess, grunting through his teeth, trying to choke down the whines into something that sounded less pathetic, but they end up slipping out anyway

he might act like he’s had enough or that he wants you to get on with it, “are you done yet?” but if you actually did stop, he would greedily insist you keep going, because he loves it (even if he wouldn’t directly admit it)

enjoys the feeling of being marked, but doesn’t quite get it beyond that

he also doesn’t get embarrassed by it at all, he just gets annoyed if random people point it out; whatever he does in private is no one else’s business but his, and he thinks they should just ignore it (unless it’s someone he knows like zhongli or hu tao. then he’s extremely embarrassed, gritting a snarky response through his teeth)

still, he probably insists you give him more

when they fade away, he’s desperate to make sure you give him new ones; there’s something oddly gratifying about it that he doesn’t want to take the time to personally examine, he just wants it, wants you

however, he wants to return the favor as well; when you’re not ravaging his neck, he’s ravaging yours

albedo

loves it, it’s actually his favorite place to be kissed

it doesn’t matter if you just ghost your mouth across his skin, even the slightest touch will have his heart racing, his breath leaving him in short, shallow gasps—he’s sensitive

melts when you suck, lick, bite, any and all of it

either way, he’s immediately melting and whimpering, practically crumbling into your arms, tilting his head to the side to invite more and more and more of your attention

being marked there is definitely very much welcomed

doesn’t care too much if people see it, but he wears high-collared jackets pretty normally anyway; i also see him as a frequent enjoyer of turtlenecks

even if someone points it out, he isn’t really embarrassed because they see it, but rather because it reminds him of how he recieved it (he brushes his fingers over the mark, cheeks warming; he shivers at his own touch, but it can’t quite mimic the way you made him feel)

loves, loves those open mouthed, sort of wet kisses you leave across a neck, it drives him a little crazy (especially where the star is on his throat)

gets heated and heavy-lidded very fast; he might try to ride your thigh if this keeps up

thoma

ironically, this is also his favorite place to be kissed

loves being kissed there, but he prefers it to be very gentle; he likes it to be slow, sensual kisses, the kind that make him sigh, eyes fluttering closed, with his head naturally falling back to invite more of your touch

the problem is actually getting marked

he doesn’t mind it, normally, but as someone with a reputation to keep, it can be a struggle to keep hidden

especially since his throat is pretty exposed most of the time, anyway

so he’ll probably tell you to not leave any bruises, but the rest of his body is more than welcome to you

even when he doesn’t have to worry about someone seeing him with the marks, he has a hard time fully enjoying it given he will just always have this habitual anxiety about his reputation

but if you know just how to make those soft, fleeting marks that fade not too long after, you are more than welcome to lather him with it

loves being kissed there, but besides the reputation conflict, he’s pretty neutral to markings

if you like it, then he’ll like it

but if anyone points it out, like ayaka, he’s going to be more than embarrassed, he’s going to be a stammering mess

would prefer to just be kissed or nipped on his throat instead of marked

companion to an almost-god (scaramouche | wanderer)

ft. Scaramouche. Fluff. 1k words. Drabble though.

(HUGE Sumeru 3.2 spoilers)

Companion To An Almost-god (scaramouche | Wanderer)

If you were asked, ten years ago, five years ago, or even last month, on where you think you'd be now, you probably wouldn't reply with, "Archon-assigned friend to a war criminal." Yet here you are, padding up to the Sanctuary of Surasthana like it's your house, as you've done for the past month already.

Now that Scaramouche is under Nahida's care, instead of facing immediate execution for his crimes, he's instead burdened with the responsibility of making a new life for himself. And powerful as Nahida is, she can't always be the one instructing him through everything, from how to do small talk to coming to terms with his past. The sages are no help either, quivering in their boots at the very mention of the puppet that became a god — the living proof of their crime, no less. The Traveler would help, if only they weren't so busy, and old wounds are yet to heal.

So it comes down to you, a humble and longtime follower of Kusanali, to accompany Scaramouche for his stay in Sumeru. Nahida’s blessing would protect you from any… difficulties that may arise. She says that she doesn't foresee any real trouble from him, but you aren’t sure with how Scaramouche acts.

He’s either a grumpy cat or wrath incarnate whenever you’re around. Granted, you’re the one who spends the most time with him, so you’re more familiar with that anger than most.

Today, you bring a special guest to him; one that wriggles in your arms as it looks around the vast halls of the Sanctuary of Surasthana.

Scaramouche hears your approach. He’s turned away from you, curled up in his corner and lost in his thoughts as he usually is. When he isn’t forced to go out to the city and interact with strangers, he can read from the infinite library of the Akademiya. So far, his only request to his stay was an opportunity to use the smithing forge sometimes.

You realize that you’ve been standing still for a while, staring at his back while the creature in your arms wiggles more insistently.

Scaramouche scoffs and turns to face you. “Another miserable task for me? What, do I have to wipe the snot off children’s noses or sing to the flowers? Is the humiliation of my defeat not enough…”

His eyes land on the creature in your arms, and blow wide open in confusion.

“What is that thing?!” He sneers.

You hold it up and let it speak.

“Name is Aragaru. This is purple Nara?”

“Purple?!” Scaramouche balks.

Aragaru shakes its head. “No, not like purple lightning anymore. Used to be like lightning: flash, smoke, faster than fire to destroy trees. But now, Nara like light blue wind after storm: fresh breeze to soothe earth after lightning.”

“What is it talking about?!”

You gently set Aragaru down, and it floats over to Scaramouche. It doesn't seem scared of him at all. Meanwhile, Scaramouche is trying to subtly scramble away from it, staring at it with a mix of disgust and fear.

Aragaru doesn't mind, wearing its goofy, crooked smile.

"Wind after storm is calm but strays easily, wants to spread across every jungle and pond. Wind will run out if it does this. Aragaru will help Blue Wind Nara find direction for its breeze."

Scaramouche whips around to you. "Hah! Are you trying to use a… vegetable to give me life lessons, like I'm some kind of child?"

You shrug, already falling into the routine of tidying the books strewn about the room. "Aranara are more in tune with the world than any other being. If there's anyone that can help you figure things out, it's an Aranara."

When you try to clean up the books by the exit, Scaramouche suddenly grabs your wrist.

You jump back; he's wide-eyed, but not like the dark madness that he used to have. It's a warm, trembling gaze, as hesitant as a feather on your skin.

"You're– you're just going to leave it with me, like that?"

"I don't see why not. Aragaru's good at this. You know, they fought off the Marana– I mean, the Withering with the Traveler."

Scaramouche gives a frustrated sigh. "No, not the– I mean are you seriously replacing yourself? Where are you going? Are you–"

He swallows.

The hand around your wrist squeezes a little.

"Are you coming back?"

Oh.

A soft smile makes its way to your face and warms your gaze. You gently tug Scaramouche closer to you, just enough to rest your hand on his shoulder.

"I'm not retiring from being your companion," you say. "Archon-assigned job, remember?"

He huffs, but listens to you.

"Aragaru's just here because I think that connecting with nature is a great way to get used to the present. Besides, I've planned a trip for us to the jungle, and we're going to meet quite a few Aranara along the way."

"We're going outside?"

It's amazing how expressive Scaramouche has gotten lately, like clear spring water. The tinge of surprise in his voice is sweet.

You wink.

"You've gotten used to the city, admit it. I think you're ready to expand your horizons a little more. Or did I not catch you so-eagerly listening to the storyteller at the cafe last week?"

A furious blush takes over Scaramouche's face and he yanks away from you. "I did not!"

"Keep telling yourself that."

"The Blue Wind Nara is as bright as Nilotpala Lotus, but shyer than floating blue fungi," Aragaru notes.

"Shut up!"

"Anyway," you cut in, "if there isn't anything else you want to bring, we can leave by lunch. Aragaru will show us the way, so long as you listen to the Aranara life lessons."

For a moment, Scaramouche is silent and flabbergasted, wondering for the nth time how he'd gotten into this situation. From a broken puppet to a god, and now – hostage of the Dendro Archon, subject to punishment of playing with children and part-timing at the cafe to "learn how to live." And now, he's supposed to go on a field trip with a talking, floating vegetable that can't even form complete sentences.

He dips his head and pulls his hat over his eyes. If he looks at your shameless, sunny smile any longer, he might melt. Disgustingly.

"This better be quick," he growls, but you easily pick up on the hidden excitement in his tone. "And I don't want any mosquitoes on me when we're in the jungle."

You dare to elbow him lightly. "That's my Scaramouche."

He scoffs, yet leans into the touch by just a little.

"Hey, none of that in the city." He scolds gently. "You don't know how many old bats have decided to call me their grandson or whatever."

"Sooo, it's fine to call you that in the jungle? What do you want: Scara, Mouche, Mouchey? Ara… like an Aranara?"

"Hell no. Call me… yes, call me… Wanderer."

"Pfft– that's so bad."

"Shut up, it's a good name!"

"Fine, fine. So you're my wanderer, then?"

He rolls his eyes. A touch of a smile at the corner of his lips. He slings a travel bag over his shoulder, hoping that you won't see his face. Hopes that you don't notice him tugging you to his side, protecting you, as you head out of the Sanctuary. Hopes that Aragaru won't point it out.

"As long as you're my Archon-assigned companion, sure."

tw/cw: implied nsfw, 18+ only, marking, mostly fluff + yearning

SCARAMOUCHE can’t love you the way a human can.

he won’t tell you how much your presence soothes him, why he constantly seeks you out to give you inane orders, missions. he can’t tell you what he really thinks of you—you smell nice, your hand in his is warm, you make him feel something in his chest that he swore was long ago discarded. so he hides his kindness, his ever-so-fallible emotions, behind his lightning strikes.

“tsk, you’re such an idiot.” “are you really going to ask me a question you already know the answer to?” “get over here. don’t make me repeat myself.”

he thinks you’re a fool. it is one thing to love him as a god, to revere him and dedicate your life to him—but to love him as a man, in a human way? idiotic. absurd.

scaramouche is so used to people leaving him, discarding him once they grow bored or he loses his usefulnesss. he is not too much of a liar to acknowledge the fear exists in him: that one day you may do the same—leave him, discard him once you see how truly inferior he is to others.

it is hard enough to be a puppet whose strings were cut once, but to lose your audience too? it’s as if the world is crashing down on him once more.

but scaramouche wants so desperately to prove that he exists, that only he can bestow upon you the greatest ecstasy. that only he can fulfill you, leave his mark on you. he bites hard, he grips fiercely. he leaves a myriad of hickeys over every inch of you, marks you hard enough to leave purple splotches in the shape of his fingertips, angry red streaks down your back. when the marks disappear, he leaves more. and more.

they’re not going to fade like he had—you’re not going to forget him like his creator had. every day you should be reminded of how deeply he’s ingrained himself into you, how you’ll never be the same without him. he makes sure of it.

but he wonders sometimes if he should give into that softness that you awaken in him. when you’re lying bared before him, resting peacefully (something he never has to do). he likes observing you sleep, something so very human and mundane. something he would scorn to tell you if you were aware of it. brushing a strand of hair from your face, tracing patterns down your side, gripping the plushness of your thigh, he draws you closer to him this way.

in these moments, he thinks that if he had a heart, you would certainly have a tight hold on it.

that only makes him yearn for one even more.
