Planet - Textured Abstract Painting
This textured abstract painting involves experimenting with techniques to create peaks and texture using materials compatible with acrylic paint. Many artists out there, including myself, may desire at one point or another to add a layer of three dimensionality to their paintings. This can be done with oil paints, however the vapors and fumes that they tend to produce and the excessive drying time might prove difficult to work with. To combat this, I used a palette knife to play with a matte gel and acrylic paint, producing large peaks and textures without the smell, and I love the results. The texture is very rough, built upon with layer after layer of matte and paint to create an interesting kind of art, pushing the boundaries between two and three dimensionality. The painting itself is a wrapped canvas measuring 11x14, with an extra 1/2 depth in the back.

Hey! I know it’s been awhile, but I’ve released a new painting for sale on Etsy! It’s an abstract painting that uses a new painting technique I’ve been playing around with: using matte and acrylic paint to create a 3D, textured effect similar to that of oil paint.

You can follow the link in this post to check it out yourself if you’re interested!

Trying to craft a design that, from a distance, would just look like a line, but upon closer inspection would be a very fine pattern.
