Obi-Wan Kenobi gritted his teeth. The weight of the unconscious man on his shoulders grew heavier with every step.

As he made his way up the rocky mountainside, his vision began to blur and darken at the edges. Blood had started to seep through his robes.

The Jedi stopped momentarily, closed his eyes, and blinked hard. His breath was raspy, lips chapped, lank stray hairs criss crossing his line of view.

He heaved in a sharp breath, and took another pained step up the stony slope.

Only after taking his fourth stride did he falter and collapse. There was a grunt, and then silence.

Mere moments had passed, when suddenly the man draped across his limp body stirred.

The soldier woke with a jolt, and scrambled to his feet, letting out a low angry growl.

“Stupid jetii,” he hissed as he unceremoniously rolled over the semi conscious knight. “You just wasted your sorry life getting in my way.”

His gloved hands reached for the lightsaber clipped to the fallen man’s belt, there was a sharp flash of bright blue light followed by a low hum.

Obi-Wan blinked up at the soldier, his eyelids half closed, but his gaze held steady.

“Cody—“ he breathed out, barely above a whisper.

Cody’s expression darkened, his features contorting into an expression of rage. His hands gripped the hilt tightly, and in one swift movement he pointed the glowing saber straight down at the ginger haired man’s exposed neck.

“I’ll cut your throat! That’ll shut you up!” He snarled viciously.

Obi-Wan remained unfazed, his blue eyes meeting the wild gaze of the man above him.

“You’re beautiful..” he breathed.

Someone on twitter mentioned that the codywan enemies-to-lovers art I was working on gave off the vibes from this scene in Princess Mononoke. Needless to say, my gay little brain went absolutely apeshit and made this within a span of 48 hours.

The lighting, the details, and their soft expressions are perfection!

I just realised the comparisons between Obi Wan dropping his lightsaber and old-fashioned handkerchief etiquette and I am going absolutely insane.

For anyone who doesn’t know, a woman would throw her handkerchief out the window for the man she loves to pick up. If he picked it up, he would fold it and put it in his pocket to intoxicate he accepts and reciprocates her affection.

Or she would walk around in a public park or someplace like that and drop it for eligible men to pick up. The intention was to try and have a moment where their hands would brush together when the man hands it back to her, and so they could have a moment of eye contact and could smile at each other.

This idea works so well with the fact that Obi Wan and Cody wouldn’t be able to express their feelings publicly, so the idea of them having a secret language with each other that could just be laughed off as a joke or Obi Wan being clumsy isn’t too hard to believe. It also ties into the “your lightsaber is your life” concept that people have spoken about on here before and emphasises that the beauty of this relationship is the subtlety of it.

It would be drastically irresponsible for Obi Wan to intentionally drop his lightsaber mid-battle, but it does paint the scene where it falls out of the sky and lands directly in front of Cody in a slightly different light. It also makes Cody having a clip on his belt much more symbolic becwuse this would be the equivalent of him taking the handkerchief and putting it in his pocket.

It also recontextualises Cody’s last action as a free man before Order 66 (taking his time to hand back the lightsaber to Obi Wan) as essentially a declaration of love. So his last real choice he got to make was to tell Obi Wan that he loves him one last time.

no offense to codywan shippers (ya'll are cool and create great fan stuff) seriously, codywan art and fanworks are some of the most detailed, and well thought out pieces i've seen.

but why do you guys ship codywan? they've exchanged like maybe, two sentences per episode they make an appearance in and its mostly about military affairs. they have a relationship you'd expect between like, somewhat affable coworkers. there's more evidence for rex and hunter than there is for cody and obi wan.

you know, i saw a bunch of codywan shippers and codywan fanart and fics when i first entered sw fandom and you know, i read some and thought "this is sweet. this is a cool dynamic. i could get behind this ship."

i'd like you all to keep in mind that i've never seen TCW at that point.

and then i watch TCW and i'm like, you don't even talk to each other. obi wan is in love with hillary clinton for some reason? cody is one of those rare characters where he has zero lines, but you can tell that he has a separate life outside of whatever bullshit he's put on screen for.

i see it as a "what could have been" ship; a ship that should have been explored a bit, even if the power dynamics are really fucked up, rather than yet another woman being fridged for a man. but like, what made you guys codywan stans?

i'm curious, so hit me with your reasons. i'm not dragging codywan-some of my favorite ships are characters that have exchanged a LOOK, not even dialogue. you guys have more basis than me.

I think this could be really wholesome.

Like, The first months of war go by in The Negociator without much else happening beside, you know, the war, and some really needed plot bonding moments between General Kenobi and his men, getting them to slowly soften their hearts to this brilliant, altruistic, posh little jedi.

Commander Cody, in a jump of good fate, decides to be the first to entrust his general his most valuable possession, his name. The General, too moved by it, isn't capable of doing anything else than smile sincerely and thank him with all his heart for it. If Cody's heart skips a couple of beats because of it, it's no one's business.

And life goes on like that, between battles and small moments, with the only difference being that from time to time, the commmander would have random sneezes that he had never suffered before. They would be spaced long enough one from the other to not be an urgent thing to think about, so he never mentions it, plus he finds them rather embarrassing.

Then one day they are all rounded in front of a hologram, planning and strategising when Obi-Wan, unconsciuslly and for the first time, calls his commander name and not his title.

And Cody Sneezes.

And you know what? The thing is that, clones aren't really accustomed to sneezing since their superior genetics make colds a really rare thing. So when Cody sneezes, it's impossible to ignore. One, because despite the unconscious need to silence it, it still makes a sound, small and breathy and two, is due to the fact that Cody sneezes with his whole body. His head ducks, his shoulders rise impossibly high and he needs to shake his head afterwards, like if he's trying to restart his system.

Instant silence all around. Everyone to startled to speak and the general looking at him in awe while Cody just wants to be ejected into space and get hitted by a starfighter. Obi-Wan's interior little shit comes to light and he decides that he needs to prove inmediatelly his mental theory, and with some badly hidden excitment for a claimed negociator, he repeats Cody's name.

And Cody sneezes again. And chaos bursts all around.

Obi-Wan being the bastard that he is repeating his commanders name non-stop with delight, The troopers shouting in excitment and "collecting evidence" for later and Cody just looking like those cats sneezing videos.

you know that post that’s like one partner calls the other loads of elaborate pet names and the other calls them by their name. yeah. that’s codywan to me. obi-wan is like my dearest darling, light of my life etc etc. and cody is like. Obi-Wan.

The time has come… execute order 66 my two favorite constantly updating fics, the beautiful, amazingly written, riveting story, seemingly never ending in length (in the best way) have both come to a close. One the one hand, I’m so happy to see it all come together and so grateful for all the authors have given us (me). On the other, DUDE WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW?? Like those two fics have been literally my constant stream of comfort for the past like 2 years and now they’re done??!? In all seriousness, however, both these fics; careless to let it fall by @artemisdesari-blog, and our own choices by @heartofroses112 are so amazing (though completely different, the only similarities is that they’re both codywan, written around the same time, and AMAZING) please please read them for your own sake. Oh, and have I mentioned that these fics are amazing?

Random Motivation of the Day:

I have been hit with the blinding motivation to bind @frostbitebakery’s I Got My Head Checked because it is one of my favorite fics ever and I’ve been meaning to do a close read of it and then i was thinking about how I can’t annotate it and then my brain was like “hmm… but what about make book?” and now this thought is stuck in my head.

do I know how to bind books? no

do I have the materials to bind books? no

do i desperately want to do this anyway? YES

I need codywan where there is one sided obitine (Satine not being over Obi), and Cody is jealous of Satine because Satine and Obi-Wan are being their very flirty selves, and then Satine sees two pining idiots and realizes that Obi-Wan has moved on and that Cody needs a push towards Obi-Wan— resulting in much lamenting about Obi-Wan’s incredibly attractive ridiculous tendencies

Satine (to Cody): I’ve seen the way you look at him you know

Cody (internally panicking): I have no clue what your talking about sir
