The way I already adore this song omg
please don’t repost without permission. Decided to draw and color a bluebird. I don’t really draw birds a lot. It looks alright I guess.
Harper: If you were to vacuum up jello through a metal tube, well I think that’d be a neat noise
Bette: I beg to differ
Harper: Then Beg
Harper, struggling to keep upright in their 1 inch heels: Yeah, I-I don’t really think heels are for me
Kate, pointing at them and walking flawlessly in sparkly golden 6 inch heels: WEAK.
Dick: Is letting someone win at chess sapiosexual bottoming
Barbara: Does anyone in this godforsaken group ever think before they speak
______________
Damian: I'm a reverse necromancer.
Carrie: Isn't that just killing people?
Damian: Ah, don’t sweat the details .
______________
Jason: Okay. I get it. You've had a really hard time lately, you're stressed out, seven people died-
Dick: Twelve, actually.
Jason: Not the point. Look, they're dead now and really whose fault is that?
Dick: Yours!
Jason: That's right: no one's.
_______________
Damian: Don’t worry, I have a few knives up my sleeve.
Steph: I think you mean cards.
Damian, pulling knives out of their sleeves: No, I do not.

Store Worker: Would a Mr. Bruce Wayne please come to the front desk?
Bruce, arriving at the desk: Hello, is there a problem?
Store Worker: points to the batkids
Store Worker: I believe they belong to you?
Dick, simultaneously: We got lost :(
Bruce: I didn’t even bring you guys here with me-

Barbara: I can’t believe you live nearby, and you won’t let anyone crash at your place.
Luke: You people already know too much about me.
Tiffany: I know exactly three facts about you, and one of them is that you won’t let any of us crash at your place.

Tim: I’m kind of crushing on someone, but I’m worried about telling you who it is, because you’re not going to like it
Cullen: Just rip the bandage off.
Tim: It’s Kon.
Cullen: Put the bandage back on.

There is a little sparrow in my head that likes to cause a mess.
It distracts me with its shrill screeching
that bounces against and vibrates my skull.
It flaps its tiny wings and causes a flurry in my head, like a feral hurricane.
It drills against my brain and causes pulsing migraines
and sometimes it nips at my eyeballs.
There is a little sparrow in my head
Shackled and caged behind bars of steel.
It is bruised,broken and battered
And its wings are clipped.
To set it free somebody will have to crack open my skull.
"It's not fair", cries the sparrow.
"Oh but it is fair", I reply,
"Just like, a head for a head,
a tail for a tail,
an eye for an eye,
and your freedom for mine."
The little sparrow gives a sad chirp and droops its wee head.
"Do not despair, little bird", I consol,
"One day you'll be able to fly,
high above, higher than the sky.
For just like in the circle of life,
the day your life begins,
is the day mine ends.
So chin up and wait some more,
just a little more time."
There is a little sparrow in my head that weeps tears of patience.
There is nothing else it can do.

9. Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis)
The Bluebird is probably my favorite bird to regularly photograph. In fact, seeing them around my house was part of what inspired me to get into bird photography in the first place! They just so obviously know that they're beautiful and are always positioning themselves to be seen by everyone. I swear, this one was striking a pose for me!

Experiment with a circular canvas. Birds are still hard to draw and yet so so satisfying.
So I'm looking for references of mountain bluebirds to draw and I found this:
My stupid monkey brain's first thought was to make this:
there’s a bluebird in my heart that wants to get out but I’m too clever, I only let him out at night sometimes when everybody’s asleep. I say, I know that you’re there, so don’t be sad. then I put him back, but he’s singing a little in there, I haven’t quite let him die and we sleep together like that with our secret pact
The Bluebird by Agnes Martin, 1954 ~ “The enigmatic Agnes Martin, who spent parts of her life in this small mountainous enclave and died here in 2004, gained international acclaim for her spare, luminous canvases, fields of washy color traversed by delicate hand-drawn lines, generally in the shape of a grid. These understated works can carry a big impact, producing a meditative response in viewers and inspiring reams of appreciative criticism. Like many of the Minimalist artists with whom she is often associated, Martin could extract infinite variations on a theme, producing both small drawings and huge paintings that use the grid as their underpinning.”

Eastern Bluebird (Sialia sialis), male, taken February 27, 2025, in Georgia, US
A beautiful drinker!! This lovely male bluebird came to the bird bath for a few sips and stayed long enough for me to get some nice photos! His blue stands out against the tan and green background so nicely. In the video, he gets spooked at the end by a robin who flew away noisily overhead!

There are currently several pairs of bluebirds sharing the feeders, but come spring there will only be one! They're quite territorial nesters with their own species, but they're easily beaten out by more aggressive species like starlings and house sparrows, which, along with several other factors, drove them to concerningly low numbers in the mid-1900's, going so far as to be listed as endangered in some states. Conservation efforts by professionals and the general public in the mid-late 1900's quickly caused a rebound in the population, and we are now seeing their increase slow, indicating they are almost at maximum population capacity!

The lighting in the photo made this bird turn out the bluest I've ever seen a bluebird. The males already get a gorgeous sapphire in the winter, but this takes it a step above! He was also a great model and sat nice and still for me!
