😭😭😭

Season 3 of Animaniacs was AMAZING!!! But it’s also the last one, and it ended rather unceremoniously due to the crew not having enough time and discretion that it was the last season!! They don’t deserve that! This show doesn’t deserve that! So I’m writing a letter to Steven Spielberg asking for his help in a continuation or simply to give the characters a proper ending.

If you’re a fan of the reboot and want the show to have a proper ending I highly encourage you to send some respectful handwritten mail to his fan mail address asking him for his support. Fan mail is a great way to both show how much you love the show but also is a great way to convince people!

Anyways, I have some art to make because I had a blast watching this season and I’m heartbroken that it might be the last ❤️

Update: I finished the series like 3 days after it came out. I was incapable of going slow 🙃

I think I speak for all fans of pretty much anything to do with toons when I say that this is a horrible decision

Like why are they getting rid of the OGs of good entertainment :/

Luckily they aren't expiring the reboot Animaniacs, thank god

Animaniacs reboot segment ideas for season 2 (Warners only)

For Dot - Dot enters a child beauty pageant whilst the show makes it clear how toxic they can be.

For Wakko - OK if you’re reading this, have you seen Victorious? You know that one subplot in Tori Goes Platinum about Cat getting addicted to a British snack called Bibble? 

Basically that, but for Wakko. I just think it’d fit his character and could potentially be a well written segment about the dangers of addiction.

For Yakko (mean idea) - Yakko gets a sore throat or something and loses his voice so he has to find other ways to communicate. Might get a tad angsty, might be hilarious, either way he’ll suffer.

For Yakko (less mean idea) - Yakko hosts a late night talk show.

Other Warner segment ideas:

-The Warners go to a fan convention

-The Warners face off against evil counterparts of themselves. Hey, I know that sounds like a bad fanfic, but the comics did it (which the reboot staff may have read, Future Brain looks kinda similar to Dark Pinky…)

Although unlike the comic, they wouldn’t be mute, I wanna hear the voice actors’ takes on evil versions of these characters! Speaking of the voice actors…

-The Warners meet their voice actors. And no, I don’t know how this would even happen, I just think it’d be funny

-The Warners mess with a now retired Mr Plotz

-The Warners swap outfits and try to act like each other for a day (preferably Dot as Wakko, Wakko as Yakko and Yakko as Dot)

And as a sort of finale for season 2 (I know it’s a comedy show with no plot but the show was greenlit with only 2 seasons initially so the final segment of season 2 may be written in a way that could appropriately wrap up the reboot just in case…)

-Nora tries to separate the Warners (either by force or by manipulating them into arguing until they “break up”) so the studio can have each individual Warner star in their own low-budget spin off show to make more money. Of course her plan would ultimately fail, but I’d like this plot to happen because 

1.It would be a pretty good plot for a “season finale” and

2.Nora seriously needs more screen time/impact on the episodes she’s in. She’s a good character, I wish they’d let her do more.

And that’s all the Warner segment ideas I could think of. Well, all the good ideas at least. Honestly they could end up doing none of these and season 2 will probably still end up great (season 1 was so funny, seriously this reboot is probably the funniest kids cartoon to come out since Gumball please watch it if you haven’t already).

Warning for upcoming angst

I wrote this on an animaniacs discord server I'm on at like around 7:30 AM cuz I woke up and went

"Oh time for sad hours ig" lol

Might as well repost it on here too, to look back on and decide if maybe I wanna draw it out later at some point.

--------Sad hc/prompt tiiiime, you've been warned💕(sorta)-----

Headcannon: Everytime the warner trio close the door to the watertower to turn in for the night, they're afraid that they'll be locked in again for another 60 years, cutoff from the outside world once more.

Sometimes Yakko will stay up all night just watching the watertower door, too scared to go to sleep.

-----------Prompt-----

One day, they find that they have been locked in the tower while they were asleep. Yakko is the first one to start sobbing when Wakko asks "Why would they lock us in here again? Don't they know what it was like..."

They spend the rest of the day crying into each others arms.

They were only locked in for a day, apparently some important person was on the lot and the studio didnt want the warner three to "cause trouble".

The next day however, when they were suppose to be filming the next episode of Animaniacs, none of the Warners showed up for their segment.

Dr. Scratchnsniff went to go check on them and had found them huddled up together behind the couch. He was surprised (and confused) to see these kids start crying (in relief) at the sight of him. He's not entirely sure what exactly made them like this until Dot's "I knew you wouldnt let them lock us in here again like last time! You wouldn't let that happen to us!"

Dot and Wakko cling to his legs smiling with happy tears. Yakko on the other hand isnt even looking at Scratchy, just shaking violently from his own crying, both relieved and angry.

For those who don’t know: 

Tom Ruegger is the original creator of Animaniacs. He’s the guy you have to thank for the iconic characters Yakko, Wakko, and Dot (for whom the primary inspiration was his own three sons.) Among many others, including the equally popular Pinky and the Brain.  He was also an involved writer/lyricist for the show and played a huge part in coming up with new song & story ideas.

Yet despite all of this, Tom was never asked back for the 2020 reboot. In fact, he wasn’t even aware that a reboot was in production until it was announced to the public. Although Tom has expressed plenty of interest in being involved in the reboot, WB/Hulu has repeatedly turned him away.

Tom’s oldest son, Nate Ruegger (voice of Skippy Squirrel,) has spoken out about this on his twitter: 

“the naked greed on display here to reboot a series without involving any of the original creative team so they can make *more* money, & then joke about it, is gross.” (x)

And he’s absolutely right. Outside of the main voice cast, none of the original team was consulted for the reboot. Tom was/is an integral part of Animaniacs. Without him, the show would never have existed, let alone become a cultural phenomenon. It doesn’t seem right for him to be cut out of the revival of a show that he is largely responsible for bringing to life in the first place.

The mistreatment and blatant disrespect of creators by big-name companies is something I’ve seen way too much of lately, and even though this is far from the first time, that doesn’t make the practice in anyway right or okay.

I’ve seen petitions for this going around, but they rarely gain enough traction, so I’m taking a more direct approach:

I’m asking fans of the series - new & old alike, regardless of your opinion on the reboot itself - to please reblog this. Or, simply spread the hashtag #BringBackTomRuegger somewhere on your social media.

So that we can let the new showrunners know that we, the fans, want to see Tom brought back for future seasons!!!

I’m not asking for a full rewrite, I just want the man who created these characters to have some say in what happens to them, as he should. Please share to show support, if you agree!

I am just a fellow person on Tumblr who loves Animaniacs (the original and reboot, although more so the original) and Frasier a little too much. I mostly reblog good art and a lot of other posts. My hobbies include: writing, reading, overthinking everything, and stressing myself out 👍
