Ive been noodling around with the idea of icy being bloom’s mirror since with her backstory in season 8 it sure looks that way. But instead. I shall do smth else.
Icy’s mirror is not bloom. Bloom n icy are not mirrors of each other.
Icy’s mirror is Daphne.
Both older sisters, both heirs to their kingdoms. Both kingdoms cursed, both wanted to save their little sister. Icy is what Daphne could have become if she was too late to save Bloom. Daphne is what Icy could have been if she succeeded in saving her sister n sacrificed herself in the process.
At first icy hates bloom for inexplicable reasons. Run of the mill reasons. But when she realises what bloom’s story is and relates it to herself, every time they face off, icy is faced with the fact that this could have been her sister. And when she sees daphne (in season 5 when they trap her to steal sirenix), that is her mirror. She is faced with the fact that that is what she could have been (at least similar) if she had succeeded. She could have seen her sister grow up. I think what’s the most heartbreaking part is when bloom wishes her sister’s corporeal form back.
Coz icy is clearly being thrown in jail/has to flee again, But bloom and daphne has their entire family back. Mom and dad and all. And i think resentment only builds from there WHICH i wld say is the motive for her to always go after the winx. Even after season 5.
why arent more able bodied people fighting for disability advocacy?
see disabled people as humans, as peers, as equals.
we deserve access to everything you do. we deserve the chance to have a happy and comfortable life just as you do.
dont push us out of sight and out of mind.
we do not deserve that. we are equals.
one of my health issues thats been stable for around 8 years is suddenly worsening the past month and it makes me so scared that i might have to go through the procedure that was the worst day of my life again 😭👍🏻
kinda proving my own point by posting about consistency and then getting really sick and going to hospital jfhdkd
“consistency is key” doesn’t apply to many disabled people.
going to the doctor and having them tell me that and that i need to stick to a schedule they have deemed appropriate is completely comedic.
what about the fact that my health and ability to do anything is a constant gamble? it can change drastically and almost instantly at any given time.
what about how right now i can stand up and make myself breakfast, but by lunch time? who knows. i may be unable to even sit up.
how do u listen to me explain that i dont have a daily or weekly schedule because of how unpredictable my health is, and reply by giving me a schedule.
do you not think i have tried to stick to a routine and schedule like all the healthy people around me??
all i see is people with consistency. i grew up thinking i was broken because i couldnt. i have pushed myself to breaking points trying to fit your mould of success and health.
im sorry if you experience this too. im going to make another post about what consistency can look like for me and other disabled people. because while we dont fit the classic definition of it, there are ways we can make our own version. i wish doctors would listen to me and would help me find my version instead of insisting on theirs, but they havent, so i wanna try help others find theirs.

We all know that feeling, we think our image descriptions are not good enough. We think they’re too short and insignificant. We wonder if it’s worth it posting one at all, but it’s always worth it. And here is why:
Even if an image description doesn’t mention everything in the image, it tells you a million things which aren’t in the image.
If your description is [ID: Reaction image of a nodding woman. /end ID] it tells you one million things. Such as: The image is not a tweet adding further information or context, it’s not a screenshot of a Snopes article debunking the post, it’s not someone disagreeing.
Those six little words, that nodding woman, it might not seem like a lot. It might seem like you can skip right over it, like it’s not worth mentioning - but it is.
An image could always be a wall of text explaining why OP is wrong, and simply knowing that’s not the case is super useful. Knowing that it’s just a reaction image, just a meme, just a photograph, is super useful.
Even a bad ID tells a lot.
im reading emily wilde’s encyclopaedia of faeries right now and im not sure how i feel about it.
like i like it dont get me wrong. i eat anything up that has fairies of any kind.
but im a very.. emotional person, and so the format of the book being emily’s diary, and her being quite a.. professional and almost stoic? person, doesnt quite engage me as much.
maybe she taps into her emotions later in the story (i’m about a 1/3 of the way through) so idk!! thats just my thoughts so far
oh fuck yes.
kind of deeply obsessed with the idea of everyone thinking helia is kind of a dick. like not riven-levels of asshole but most people find him off-putting and hard to get along with by virtue of him being such an intense person. and he’s the kind of person who does things to the beat of his own drum. he’s very one track minded in that way and it makes it hard for others to collaborate with him and find him agreeable on a surface-level capacity. even still people find him likable but in a more distant, unattainable way. but anyone who spends time with him one-on-one and has a conversation with him realizes that he’s actually super non-judgmental and easy to talk to. and he really does like connecting with people, he just doesn’t go out of his way to spend his time on things that don’t catch his attention. and he’s honestly just super sweet.
in contrast, flora is affable and beloved and on average treats people so kindly and sweetly. so everyone’s impression of flora is that she’s a gentle and sweet person who rarely has a bad thing to say about anyone. and while this is partially true, she oftentimes has her private reservations about people that she only truly feels comfortable voicing with her close friends (ie the winx) but won't ever hide from anyone if directly confronted. her natural sociability makes it so that she's very easy to get along with and collaborate with, but people often underestimate her sharp judgment of character and tend to reduce her to her gentleness when she's much more strong-willed than she comes across.
& when helia and flora get together, it's the coupling of two people who are more understated on the surface but actually quite intense to their core. they match each other's freaks <3
really struggling with this atm.
ive lost all the strength i fought so hard for the past two years. it doesnt seem fair that it can all be taken away so fast.

what happens to consistency, to habits, when you have a dynamic disability?
i want us to understand the differences between having a consistent body and having an ever changing one. sometimes you could be so healthy you are working/studying, exercising a few times a week, socialising, and independently caring for yourself. but other times.. you’re bedbound? can’t even shower and brush your teeth twice a day? can’t keep up with texting your friends or social media? what habit is surviving that.
you work so hard to build habits and follow routines you and your doctors have set, and then you achieve it, but then it all gets taken away in a flare-up. you wonder what the point is. its a constant vicious cycle. even abled people know its hard to build habits. it takes time. and you might not have that time.
for abled people, theres no time limit on building a habit. they might have a goal in mind of when they want to achieve it, but theres no actual clock ticking in the background.
for me, and for other dynamically disabled people, we are on a time crunch. you may not be aware of it, but you are. it’s always a race to get things done while you can, build those habits and routines and get consistent and get your life together while you can. because even if you’re not thinking it, you are living on a countdown until your next flare-up. until the next crash, the next time you lose all your progress.
and that cycle, is exhausting. it’s like building a sandcastle right on the shore. you build it and you get to revel in it for a second. then it’s gone. there may be a little bump in the sand where your hard work had just stood, but essentially, you are starting from scratch. while the abled people are up the beach a few metres and their sand is perfectly wet and perfectly dry and the waves never reach it.
then those same people, tell you to just keep building. “eventually you’ll get there!” “keep trying!” “habits take time!” they say. but how? there will always be another wave.
understanding this difference in experience is so important if you want to understand why you can’t just tell a disabled person to form habits or be consistent and expect results.
